No one can deny what was caught on camera with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz at the Minnesota State Fair. After a reporter asked about the deaths of the six Israeli hostages in Gaza (including a U.S. citizen), Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate tucked his tail and ran. He later addressed the issue on X (formerly Twitter). On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had entered tunnels under Rafah where Hamas was hiding out. Unfortunately, Hamas brutally murdered the six hostages who were in the tunnel, including one Israeli American, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, just before the IDF could rescue them. These murdered Israelis were part of the original 200 hostages who had been taken captive on October 7. Reports are that more than 60 of the original hostages are still alive. That’s why Israel must continue its mission to eradicate Hamas and rescue the remaining hostages. It shouldn’t have been that difficult for Walz to respond to the question about the murdered Israelis. Any politician should be able to answer such a question in 30 seconds or less, but he chose to run away instead.

Due to the U.S. Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling, Judge Juan Merchan delayed the sentencing in President Donald Trump’s New York trial until September 18. Will DA Alvin Bragg be forced to reopen the trial after much of his evidence included “official acts” from when Trump was President? The delayed sentencing date is huge for two reasons. First, much of the far Left hoped that the attention would shift from President Biden’s poor debate performance to Trump’s original sentencing date of July 11. And as we said last week, it will not be good news for President Biden if the media is still talking about replacing him after the long Independence Day weekend. Right now, the narrative isn’t shifting for Biden. Yesterday, the primary topic at White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s press conference was President Biden’s fitness for office. Also, an internal Democrat election poll was leaked that sounded the alarm for Biden’s reelection in swing states, and Trump is way ahead in fundraising now following the debate. The second reason that the delayed sentencing is significant comes from Judge Juan Merchan’s letter regarding the delayed sentencing: “The Court’s decision will be rendered off-calendar on September 6, 2024, and the matter is adjourned to September 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM for the imposition of sentence, if such is still necessary, or other proceedings.” Did you catch the important nugget: “if such is still necessary, or other proceedings”? In other words, the Supreme Court’s decision could derail Bragg’s case altogether. Within hours of the Justices’ decision, Trump’s lawyers contested this issue, setting off the chain of events leading to the delayed sentencing – a lot of movement happened quickly. Bragg had presented a broad case that ignored expired statutes of limitations and elevated what would have been a misdemeanor into 34 felony counts. Yet by going so broad, Bragg might have tanked his case completely by presenting evidence that would now be considered inadmissible. Trump’s lawyers filed a brief to have the jury’s verdict vacated, and the other side will be filing a brief in response. Judge Merchan will review the briefs (which the caveat “if such is still necessary” refers to) before the sentencing date. A recent New York Times poll shows that President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in five battleground states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada) among registered voters. Much of the discontent with Biden comes from young people and Hispanic voters who are upset with his policies (e.g., border, inflation). The Hill reports: “The poll found Trump leading in five out of six swing states, with Wisconsin the lone place where Biden is ahead. More concerning for Biden is that the poll found the president is losing support among young voters and Black and Hispanic voters, all of whom are critical to his coalition to win reelection. While Republicans took a victory lap, Democrats cautioned it was one poll nearly six months out from Election Day. But Biden allies acknowledged the president has work to do if he is to win reelection in November.” What does this poll say about the 2024 presidential election? While we still have a long way to go, President Trump has a significant lead in three of the six states mentioned. Poll numbers in favor of Trump could be devastating and even discourage some people from voting. Americans know firsthand what is happening in our country. And, despite President Biden’s claims that it’s “the best economy in the world,” the economy is playing a huge factor in Trump’s current lead. Voters are still hurting at the grocery store and gas pump. Besides a depressing economy, the poll may reflect issues of immigration. In the Southwest, they’re seeing this firsthand. The border is a national security issue impacting key swing states directly. While polls may not be a direct indicator of results, we know one thing for sure: Voting rules have changed.
