Gunsmoke

(May 10, 1952) Jaliscoe Pete" and his three friends murder Will Thompson and his family and try to make it look like it was done by Indians. + Will Thompson's son staggers into the Marshal's office. Before he dies from his gunshot wounds he manages to tell Dillon that their farm has been burnt to the ground. The Marshall and Chester ride out to the farm to find the house still burning, a dog shot dead, Will Thompson scalped, his seventeen year old daughter dead in the bushes and his wife only barely alive.

The first show of the series. A Dutchman draws a lynch mob after the whole town accuses him of murder. A very well-written story with a surprise ending. Georgia Ellis plays the widow of the dead man, not Miss Kitty! + Clay Richards is wanted for robbing a bank and for murdering an old cashier and a Chinese cook and the Marshall of Dodge City is on his trail, only to find that Zeigler the Dutchman has already found Clay's dead body. To add to Dillon's troubles he has a young runaway boy from Cottonwood to sort out, a boy by the name of William, otherwise known as Billy the Kid.
