TThe Classic ChannelRecondo, Duke, Scarlett, and Rock 'n Roll are in a typical, unspecified Indian market town. Despite Scarlett's desire to go sight-seeing, they have to meet up with Dr. Shakur. The Joes meet Shakur at a table under a red umbrella and exchange code-phrases. Shakur has invented the Vulcan Machine, which derives energy from molten lava, but is concerned by Cobra's interest in it. The Joes offer him sanctuary. Unbeknownst to the Joes, they are being observed by a street snake charmer. The fake snake charmer is none other than Zartan. He informs Cobra Commander via video-screen-snake-robot that the he's found the Joes and Shakir. Cobra Commander orders an attack. The Joes are ambushed by a unit of Cobra troopers in the marketplace. Scarlett tries to get Shakur to cover, but instead pushes him straight into the hands of a Cobra trooper, who then knocks her out. With Shakur secure, the Cobras order a retreat. Duke wakes Scarlett, while Recondo spots the Cobras heading to the river. They go to follow, though Duke laments that they'll never make it in time. Zartan, still disguised as a snake charmer, directs them to an alley that is a shortcut. Instead, it's another ambush, as two H.I.S.S. tanks block off the exit, while Zartan reveals himself behind the Joes. The Dreadnoks appear and Zartan sets them upon the Joes. Buzzer is quickly disarmed by Snake Eyes, who leaps from a nearby rooftop before helping Scarlett take out Torch and Ripper. Zartan orders the H.I.S.S. tanks to fire, so the Joes quickly duck under the laser fire. Scarlett shoots an incendiary arrow at the H.I.S.S.es, allowing the Joes the opportunity to escape the alley through a hole blasted in the side. The Joes emerge from another alley, but are too late to stop the Cobras absconding with Shakur in the Water Moccasin. Duke declares that the Cobras must have a base nearby and Recondo has an idea where it is. In the back of the APC, Recondo tells the other four Joes that the locals have been talking of a snake cult that has taken over a local temple. The temple is deep within the jungle, so they'll have to go in by air. The team splits into multiple Dragonflies: Scarlett, Recondo, and Snake Eyes in one, Duke and Rock 'n Roll in one, with Wild Bill and Ripcord following in another. Meanwhile, Cobra Commander welcomes Shakur to the temple and introduces himself. Shakur is unwilling to cooperate, so Zartan places a mind-control device on his head. Cobra Commander's gloating is cut short when a Crimson Guardsman informs him that the three Dragonflies are approaching. He orders the Guardsman to "greet" them. A squadron of F.A.N.G.s approach the Dragonflies and dogfight ensues. The Joes manage to shoot down most of the F.A.N.G.s, but are soon overwhelmed. Duke orders the Joes to split up and return to base, but his Dragonfly is shot down before he can make good on the order. Scarlett's Dragonfly is quickly also shot down. Cobra Commander views the scene on a monitor and expresses his joy. Zartan enters and informs him that Shakur is ready to work on building the Vulcan Machine. Cobra Commander explains that he plans to blackmail the world with the machine, using it to set torrents of molten lava on any country that dares to refuse their demands. Shakur sheds a tear as he unwillingly sets to work on finishing the machine. In the jungle, Duke and Rock 'n Roll recover from their crash. They quickly meet up with Snake Eyes, Recondo, and Scarlett. All have survived the crashes with no injuries. Recondo assures the others that he'll get them through the jungle with little trouble. Cobra Commander is once again able to survey this on his monitor and activates a series of traps to finish the Joes off. While Rock 'n Roll and Recondo debate if the jungle is hellish or not, Scarlett sets off a tripwire trap. Recondo manages to save her, and when Rock 'n Roll tries to see if she's all right, he walks over a disguised pit. Snake Eyes saves him, but before the team can rest, a rhino is released from a nearby cage. Enraged, the rhino charges at the team. Duke reluctantly prepares to shoot the rhino, but Recondo runs over and whacks it on the rump with a stick. He guides it towards the edge of a hitherto unseen cliff and tricks it into running off. Fortunately, there's a river below and the rhino lands in that. The Joes delve further into the jungle, deactivating and avoiding more traps as they go. Again, Cobra Commander is observing from his monitor in the temple and is dismayed that they're still alive. He personally activates another trap, setting striped hyenas on them. He and Zartan go to check on Dr. Shakur, who is making progress with the Vulcan Machine. The Joes notice the hyenas. While they're prepared to shoot them all, Recondo advises against it, saying that the hyenas will overwhelm them. Instead he suggests that they lose them by heading for the nearby river. On their way to it though, Duke activates a trap and ends up hanging from a tree branch by his ankles with the hyenas snarling below him. Against orders, Snake Eyes double backs and fights off the hyenas to save Duke. Duke reprimands him for disobeying an order, but thanks him anyway. Just as they're going to join the others across the river, the Water Moccasin arrives, piloted by Copperhead and four Cobra troopers. Snake Eyes and Duke quickly raise their hands, acting as a easy diversion for a sneak attack by Recondo, Scarlett, and Rock 'n Roll from behind. The Joes take out all the Cobra troopers and strip them of their uniforms, which Scarlett, Rock 'n Roll, Recondo, and Duke put on. Pretending that Snake Eyes is their prisoner, they force Copperhead to take them to the temple. As they arrive, they knock Copperhead out and tell the Cobra Officer guarding temple that he's got sleeping sickness and that it's contagious. He hurries them inside to the infirmary. Shakur has finished the Vulcan Machine, but Zartan is dubious that it works. Cobra Commander declares that a demonstration will prove to the world how serious he is and deliberates on which city to destroy as an example. The Joes quietly reach the edge of the room, just in time to hear Cobra Commander pick Los Angeles, Rock 'n Roll's hometown. They charge the room. Zartan (loudly) decides to use Shakur as a human shield, so Scarlett blasts a hole in the ceiling, revealing sunlight that drives Zartan off. Amidst fire from Cobra troopers, Rock 'n Roll removes Shakur's mind control device. Cobra Commander gloats that rescuing Shakur grants them nothing, as he still has the Vulcan Machine and that he'll destroy the United States with it. Duke ignores the suggestion to surrender and shoots the machine, which goes haywire and, as Shakur explains, uses its remaining power to activate lava under the temple. The Cobras quickly retreat, as do the Joes, who narrowly manage to outrun a river of lava following them through the corridors. Zartan has only just reached the exit of the temple himself and, moaning about the sunlight, escapes on his swamp-sledge. The Joes go out the way they came in and reach the Water Moccasin just as Copperhead regains consciousness. It's not his lucky day though, as Duke dumps him in the river and leaves. Cobra Commander and his troopers escape on another Water Moccasin. The Joes make it down river and meet Wild Bill, Ripcord and Cutter in the Whale. Rock 'n' Roll begins telling the Whale crew what happened to them. "I get the feeling this is gonna be one whopper of a story' laments Wild Bill as the crafts head into the sunset.162 views 1 comment -
The Hub Oct 14, 2010 G.I. Joe A Real American Hero Miniseries Ep 3 The Worms Of Death
TThe Classic ChannelCobra Commander goes on another roll blackmailing the world. While the Commander enjoys the high of the moment, Destro is distressed at their dwindling supply of the M.A.S.S.'s catalytic elements and if they don't find a way to replenish it, their threats would lose credibility. Baroness assures him they can still bluff their way and is confident that they will be able to obtain more of the elements. In the Arctic, Major Bludd sends in a robot into the cave. It repairs a search android which activates quickly and goes about its duty of locating and harvesting the red crystals. Inside the cave, Snake Eyes avoids the robots and takes a canister of the crystals with him. The Cobras outside are surprised to find anyone alive. As he is reeking of radiation, each of them stays out of his way. Bludd chooses not to gun down Snake-Eyes as he believes sooner or later, the masked man will die. Elsewhere, Doc has Duke make another attempt to remember where Cobra's base is. It still is very difficult for him and all he can remember is Selina. Steeler comes inside the room to tell them they have arrived. They go topside where Breaker briefs them that the second element, a form of heavy water, is located in the trench they are on. Torpedo is brought in for his specialty in underwater missions. Snake Eyes continues his trudge across the snowy landscape. He encounters a wolf caught in a trap. Initially leaving the animal to its fate, he comes back to release it. As he leaves, the animal is more than happy to follow him. He soon finds himself in the path of a polar bear. Suffering from fatigue and radiation sickness, he is thrown like a ragdoll and the wolf has no luck in cowing the bear to fear. The bear is chased away by a blind man with an electric prod. The blind man collects Snake-Eyes and places him on the dog sled. The wolf follows them while the canister is left behind in the snow. Bludd is thrilled to be successful in his mission but Destro is even happier that one-third of the necessary elements is in their hands. The Joes make their way to the bottom of the trench where they encounter strange pillars. They reach the heavy water but Cobra, led by the Baroness, arrive the scene at the same time. A battle between the two forces ensue. The strange pillars are actually the sleeping places of giant tubeworms. The worms are awakened by the firefight and become angry, attacking both Joes and Cobra alike. Torpedo calls on the Baroness for a truce and work together if they are to make it out alive. Initially, the Baroness disapproves of the idea but she has no choice and commands her forces to attack the worms. Duke has an idea, they shoot the bottom of the pillars and the worms float to the surface, bloat up and die. Afterward, both groups collect their share of the heavy water. The Baroness attempts to renege on the deal and demands the Joes to surrender and leave without the heavy water. The Joes' backup arrives and they manage to escape. The Baroness is furious but both groups have what they came for. Back at the Sea of Ice, the blind hermit is able to remove Snake-Eyes' radiation poisoning with the use of some dressings of leaves and herbs that draw the radiation away from his body. The blind man realizes of Snake-Eyes' good intentions, gives him his clothes back, named the wolf Timber, and gave him directions to civilization. With two elements still short, Short-Fuze and Steeler came up with a plan to derail Cobra's M.A.S.S. ability (though their arguing delays them actually saying what the plan is). They send up a satellite killer to destroy the Relay Star satellite. However, Cobra is warned by the satellite's alarm. Using the last bit of the M.A.S.S.'s elements, Destro teleports a brigade of Cobra Shock Trooper to defend the satellite. In no time, they shoot down the satellite killer. The Joes' plan failed. Their disappointment does not last long as Cover Girl comes rolling back to the base with none other than Snake-Eyes. Everyone rejoices, and Scarlett runs over to hugs him. The crystals are added to the Joes' own M.A.S.S. Device. None of them realize that once opened, the canister will release a sleeping gas after a few minutes. Everyone is rendered unconscious...173 views 1 comment -
The Hub Oct 13, 2010 G.I. Joe A Real American Hero Miniseries 1 Ep 2 The M.A.S.S. Device, Part 2
TThe Classic ChannelIn the Cobra Arena of Sport, Duke is forced into a battle with the giant. Cobra Commander and Destro control the two combatants via the mind controlling headbands. With joysticks in their hands, the Commander controls the giant while Destro controls Duke. Cobra Commander chides Destro's lack of gaming skills as the giant proceeds to beat Duke up. Furious but calm, Destro lets go of the joystick to let Duke fight the giant on his own will. At Joe HQ, Dr. Vandermeer tells the Joes that he can build a M.A.S.S. for them but to power it, he will need three essential elements. The first of which is a red radioactive crystal that can only be found in the Arctic region, specifically in an area called the Sea of Ice. While Duke is dwarfed by the giant's size and strength, his combat skills allow him to put up a good fight and knock the giant down. In a defiant move, he goes towards the controllers' direction. Destro would have none of that and immobilizes Duke. The giant is about to pummel Duke when a Cobra Officer has to interrupt the game with information from their spies. Cobra Commander is furious that the world refuses to surrender before him while Destro is upset that the Joes will be building their own M.A.S.S. and is on the way to obtain one of the catalytic elements. With the bad news, they both leave the Arena to attend to the distressing matter. The slave girl Duke met before enters the arena to give him water. She introduces herself as Selina and gives him a gold strip to place between his headband and his forehead. She warns him it may hurt but he will be able to move of his own free will. In the Arctic, Snow Job, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, Flash and Tripwire arrive in the area of the Sea of Ice. Their radiation tracker leads them to a cave. What they don't know is that Major Bludd is in the area and is watching them. The Joes arrive at the cave and proceeds to walk in. Further inside the cave, S.N.A.K.E. robots lie in wait. Cobra Commander gives another ultimatum to the world. In another demonstration of the M.A.S.S. Device, he has Destro teleport a battalion of Soviet troops to their headquarters. Destro becomes increasingly distressed at every demonstration of the M.A.S.S.'s power as their supply of catalytic elements are running low. The Commander is unconcerned, satisfied at another showing and confident in their ability to find more of the elements. Cobra Commander and Destro go back to their game. Duke has had enough of being toyed around and inserts the gold strip between his headband. Somehow, the result shorted the joysticks in the two evil leaders' hands. Duke takes the headband off and runs to escape. He is assisted by Selina and led to a hangar. She couldn't go with him but assures him that she knows her way around the Cobra base. Duke gives her his ring and promises to come back for her. He escapes in a Viper glider with several Cobras in hot pursuit. Back at the cave, the Joes trigger a booby trap that seals them in the cave and now has to face the S.N.A.K.E.s. At first menacingly dangerous, the S.N.A.K.E.s turned out to be poorly programmed and slow to respond to changes in tactics. They are soon taken care of enough. Snake-Eyes gets in a rail car to get the crystals. Flash melts the blast door sealing the cave's entrance only to find Bludd and the Cobras waiting outside. Bludd sets off an explosive charge in the mine, releasing a cloud of radioactive gas. Snake-Eyes manages to come back from deep the cave with the radioactive gas following him. Rather than let his teammates be caught in the poison cloud, he seals himself behind a blast proof glass. Scarlett begins to cry. Reluctant to leave Snake-Eyes, the Joes have no choice but to leave him behind. In a forest, Duke shook off the Cobras but passed out and was somehow found by some of his fellow G.I. Joe's then brought back to base. Meanwhile, A conference in an island in the Pacific discusses how to deal with the threat of Cobra. General Flagg assures a reporter that they remain firm in their stance: to never surrender. This is tested as they are abducted by being teleported to Cobra's base and turned into mindless prisoners. After hearing Cobra's threat, Scarlett sees Doc and Cover Girl bringing an injured and unconscious Duke over. Seeing this, the G.I. Joes rush to Duke side just as he reigns consciousness. However, Duke becomes confused as to how he was brought back to base and Stalker explains to him that he hoped he would tell everyone in the room. Stalker explains to Duke that was captured by Cobra and hoped that he knew where their base was and they would be able to end the fighting fast. However, due to the trauma, effects of the headband and exhaustion from the escape, Duke doesn't remember anything that happened during his imprisonment or where Cobra is actually located, expect his meeting with Selina.189 views 1 comment
