A buddy and I went turkey hunting with his flintlock in an area we know has a longbeard. We set up before light expecting him to be roosted about 90 yards away like he was the previous morning, but as light came he gobbled roughly 30 yards from us! We were in a bind constantly sliding off the tree roots we were set up on, which made it hard to see. This gobbler came in to five yards right at our decoys but we didn't have a shot because we could only see his fan and the tip of his head.
