Iceland Begins To Prepare For New Ice Age Because Of Weakening Atlantic Current (AMOC)
Ancient Civilizations & Earth Disaster CyclesIceland has issued a stark warning, calling a potential new Ice Age an "existential threat" as scientists observe troubling signs of a weakening Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). This crucial ocean current, which carries warm tropical waters to northern regions, is showing signs of destabilization due to melting Arctic ice and rising freshwater input from Greenland. If it collapses, temperatures in Northern Europe and parts of North America could plunge dramatically, triggering harsher winters and widespread climate disruption. The ripple effects could reshape global weather systems. This episode examines why Iceland is preparing for the worst-case scenario. Original YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtEttfZUdWc ................. Iceland Deems Possible Atlantic Current Collapse A Security Risk By Alison Withers and Stine Jacobsen Reuters November 12, 2025 https://reuters.com/sustainability/cop/iceland-sees-security-risk-existential-threat-atlantic-ocean-currents-possible-2025-11-12/ Summary: • Iceland declares threat to Atlantic Ocean current a national security risk • Scientists warn current collapse could trigger modern-day ice age for Northern Europe • Researchers working to understand how, and when, a collapse might occur COPENHAGEN, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Iceland has designated the potential collapse of a major Atlantic Ocean current system a national security concern and an existential threat, enabling its government to strategize for worst-case scenarios, the country's climate minister told Reuters. The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC, current brings warm water from the tropics northward toward the Arctic, and the flow of warm water helps keep Europe’s winters mild. But as warming temperatures speed the thaw of Arctic ice and cause meltwater from Greenland’s ice sheet to pour into the ocean, scientists warn the cold freshwater could disrupt the current’s flow. A potential collapse of AMOC could trigger a modern-day ice age, with winter temperatures across Northern Europe plummeting to new cold extremes, bringing far more snow and ice. The AMOC has collapsed in the past -- notably before the last Ice Age that ended about 12,000 years ago. "It is a direct threat to our national resilience and security," Iceland Climate Minister Johann Pall Johannsson said by email. "(This) is the first time a specific climate-related phenomenon has been formally brought before the National Security Council as a potential existential threat." Elevation of the issue means Iceland’s ministries will be on alert and coordinating a response, Johannsson said. The government is assessing what further research and policies are needed, with work underway on a disaster preparedness policy. Risks being evaluated span a range of areas, from energy and food security to infrastructure and international transportation. RIPPLE EFFECTS An Atlantic current collapse could have consequences far beyond Northern Europe. It could potentially destabilize longtime rainfall patterns relied upon by subsistence farmers across Africa, India and South America, according to scientists. It could also contribute to faster warming in Antarctica, where sea ice surrounding the southernmost continent as well as ice sheets atop it are already under threat from climate change. Scientists have warned that the world is underestimating the threat that an AMOC collapse could become inevitable within the next couple of decades as global temperatures keep climbing. The Nordic Council of Ministers funded a "Nordic Tipping Week" workshop in October with 60 experts assessing how societies might be impacted. They are finalizing recommendations from the meeting, organizers said. "There is tons of research on the likelihood of when exactly things are going to happen," said Aleksi Nummelin, a physical oceanographer at the Finnish Meteorological Institute. “There is much less on what is the actual societal impact.” On Monday, scientists from more than 30 universities and international organizations sounded an alarm about the accelerated thawing of Earth’s glaciers, ice sheets and other frozen spaces. Other climate ministries and meteorological offices across Northern Europe told Reuters they are funding more research while weighing possible risks in their climate adaptation plans. Ireland's weather service said its scientists briefed the country’s prime minister last year and a parliamentary committee last month. Norway's environment ministry said it was "seeking to deepen our understanding of the issue through new research" before determining whether to classify AMOC as a security risk. Britain said it was following scientific reports that suggested an abrupt collapse was unlikely during this century, while directing more than 81 million pounds into research to understand when the Earth's climate systems might be pushed to a point of no return. "The science is evolving quite rapidly and time is running out to do anything about it because the tipping point may well be quite close," said oceanographer and climatologist Stefan Rahmstorf from Germany's Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Iceland is not taking any chances, as the pace of warming speeds up and greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. "Sea ice could affect marine transport; extreme weather could severely affect our capabilities to maintain any agriculture and fisheries, which are central to our economy and food systems," Johannsson said. "We cannot afford to wait for definitive, long-term research before acting." Reporting by Ali Withers and Stine Jacobsen in Copenhagen; Editing by Katy Daigle and David Gregorio ................. Earth’s Disaster Cycle: How Close Is The Next Catastrophe? (Matt Beall Interviews Ben Davidson)
Ancient Civilizations & Earth Disaster CyclesMatt Beall interviews Ben Davidson about Earth Disaster Cycles and related topics. Original YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8asS7yLpHk ................ Earth Faces Mass Extinction As Magnetic Poles Race Toward Catastrophe, Expert Warns By Stacy Liberatore, US Science & Technology Editor Daily Mail 19 September 2025 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-15114633/Solar-micronova-trigger-mass-extinction-risks-wiping-humanity-expert-warns.html A space weather expert has issued a dire warning that Earth may be on the brink of a catastrophic geomagnetic disaster capable of wiping out up to 90 percent of humanity. Ben Davidson, founder of Space Weather News, told the Matt Beall Limitless podcast that a rapid magnetic pole shift, potentially triggered by a solar 'micronova,' could unleash tsunamis, climate chaos and mass extinction. Though his speculative 'micronova' theory, a sudden solar explosion triggering a pole shift, lacks mainstream support, Davidson insisted the underlying geomagnetic cycle is 'bulletproof' science. 'This is a near extinction-level event, and we are in the middle of it right now!' Davidson said, emphasizing a cycle that occurs roughly every 6,000 years, with a more severe event every 12,000 years. Earth's magnetic field, our shield against solar and cosmic radiation, has weakened by up to 15 percent since the 1800s, leaving us vulnerable to devastating solar storms. The North and South Magnetic Poles are racing toward a collision in the Bay of Bengal, while auroras, once rare at low latitudes, now appear 15 to 20 times in just a few years, signaling a failing shield. 'Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we're not just due for this event, it's happening, and it's a massive threat,' Davidson told the Daily Mail. Geological records have shown that Earth is overdue for a catastrophe that could plunge humanity into a new Dark Age, Davidson said, warning that it could strike within a 10 to 25-year window based on field decay and accelerating pole movement. While a devastating solar event sounds like something out of science fiction, Earth experienced one in 1859, known as the Carrington Event. This was the most powerful geomagnetic storm ever recorded. It caused telegraph systems to malfunction, with operators receiving shocks, wires sparking fires, and messages being sent wirelessly. Today, a solar storm of that size would ravage power grids, halt water, food, GPS-driven agriculture, and emergency services. 'Within three days, there's no gasoline at the pump. There's no food at the store,' Davidson warned, citing US government estimates of a 90 percent population loss within months due to societal collapse. He attributed the field's weakening to natural changes in the molten iron currents within Earth's outer core, which generate the magnetic field through a process called the geodynamo. These shifting currents, driven by convection and Earth's rotation, can destabilize, causing the field to weaken and the poles to drift. 'The magnetic field is changing, the poles are moving, the magnetic field is weakening,' he said, noting that these shifts mirror past geomagnetic excursions -- temporary pole reversals recorded in ice cores, lava flows, and ancient pottery. The Laschamp excursion, 41,000 years ago, saw the field drop to five to ten percent of its strength, triggering ozone depletion, climate shifts, and mass die-offs, evidenced by fossil piles and volcanic ash layers. The last event, 6,000 years ago, dubbed the 'Noah event,' left magnetic traces in pottery from Colombia, Korea, and Russia, aligning with our current timeline. Today's pole movements are accelerating, with the North Pole racing toward Siberia at 25 to 37 miles per year, up from six miles per year historically, while the South Pole drifts toward the Indian Ocean. The South Atlantic Anomaly, a growing weak spot over Brazil, disrupts satellites and signals core instability, allowing more cosmic radiation to reach Earth. This 'shields down' effect, Davidson said, is evident in surging auroras, which were once seen one to three times a decade at low latitudes. 'We've probably seen 15 to 20 of these events. So, we've gone from, you know, one to three every decade to more than 10 in just a couple of years,' he explained. 'What the sun is throwing at Earth to trigger those lower latitude auroras is far smaller than what it used to take as we look back into the past.' This 'shields down' effect allows harmful radiation to disrupt climate and ecosystems, mirroring past excursions that caused ozone loss and animal migration failures. 'Everything we expect to see is unfolding now, confirming we're not just due for this event, it's happening, and it's a massive threat that almost no one is addressing,' said Davidson. 'I think they worry about causing a panic.' He pointed to the book 'World in Peril,' written by Major Maynard White's son, which claims the government discovered these geomagnetic risks in the 1940s and 1950s but classified the findings. Major White, risking treason, shared these documents with his son to publish and inform the public, yet much remains hidden. 'Who is going to go up against the great power and money machine?' Davidson said. ................. Vast Underwater City Discovered Near 'Resting Place Of Noah's Ark'
Ancient Civilizations & Earth Disaster CyclesVast Underwater City Discovered Near 'Resting Place Of Noah's Ark' Rewrites Bible Story Known To Millions By Stacy Liberatore U.S. Science & Technology Editor August 6, 2025 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-14976021/underwater-city-turkey-Noahs-Ark-rewrites-Bible.html An ancient underwater city beneath Turkey's Lake Van could potentially reveal secrets that challenge the origins of Noah's Ark. The sprawling ruins lie 85 feet below the surface near the town of Gevaş, just 150 miles from Mount Ararat, the mountain traditionally believed to be the final resting place of the biblical boat. Geological evidence suggests that the ruins were submerged 12,000 to 14,500 years ago, when a Mount Nemrut eruption blocked the Mirat River, and caused massive flooding during the Younger Dryas, a period of extreme climate upheaval. While mainstream scholars dismiss the theory, many independent researchers believe this disaster wiped out an advanced civilization, one so ancient that it may have inspired the earliest versions of the Great Flood story. 'As far as I'm aware, any civilizations in the last 6,000 years did not have the technological means to create the type of stonework we're seeing here,' said independent researcher Matt LaCroix, who spoke about the discovery on the Matt Beall Limitless podcast. LaCroix and an international dive team are preparing to explore the site in September using advanced imaging tools to map the ruins, which he believes could help rewrite humanity's timeline. The underwater complex spans more than half a mile, featuring a stone fortress flanked by circular temples with precisely carved masonry. There is also a capstone engraved with a six-spoked 'Flower of Life' symbol, an ancient motif also found at sacred sites in Peru and Bolivia. Discovered in 1997 by Turkish underwater filmmaker Tossen Salin while studying Lake Van's unusual micro-invertebrates, the ruins have remained largely unknown to the public. While archaeologists confirm the structures exist, many attribute them to the Urartian period around 3,000 years ago, or even to the medieval era. But they have admitted that the site has yet to be fully studied or definitively dated. LaCroix, however, said in a July episode of the podcast that geological data told a different story. He explained how soil sampling and analysis of Mount Nemrut show clear evidence of a massive eruption around 12,000 years ago. As a result, Lake Van's water level rose dramatically, over 100 feet, according to some estimates. Because stone cannot be carbon-dated, researchers hope to find organic material, such as sediment layers or artifacts, which could confirm the age of the ruins. But collecting such evidence underwater poses major challenges. The site’s sophisticated stonework, with tightly interlocking blocks, angular joints, and no visible binding agents, appears to rival the engineering seen in megalithic sites like Sacsayhuamán in Peru. 'You can see that the temple has been significantly damaged, said LaCroix. 'All the stones on the top have broken off except those at the edges. The site resembles Peruvian masonry, with precisely angled stones forming triangular joints, and only the front appears flat. It's beautiful and would have been perfectly carved.' He believes the shared architectural features, symbolic motifs, and astronomical alignments across sites in Turkey, South America and Asia suggest the existence of a long-lost global civilization. Scholars have long acknowledged that the biblical flood story likely evolved from earlier Mesopotamian texts. Ancient cuneiform tablets from Sumerian, Akkadian, and Babylonian cultures, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Atrahasis, and the Eridu Genesis, describe a massive flood sent to destroy early civilization, and a chosen man who builds a vessel to save life on Earth. In these tales, the survivor is called Ziusudra or Utnapishtim, names predating Noah by thousands of years. Excavation logs from Shuruppak, Iraq, believed to be the home of this early flood survivor, show a distinct flood layer above ancient Sumerian ruins. These records, uncovered at the Penn Museum, provide physical evidence of a catastrophic event similar to those described in the ancient texts. Even the Babylonian Map of the World, the oldest known map, marks the Ararat region near Lake Van as a place of ancient significance, possibly linked to tales of a lone survivor who emerged after a global deluge. LaCroix argues that the biblical version is not being dismissed but rather reframed in its historical and cultural context. He told Beall to picture a thriving civilization along Lake Van, building temples and structures on stable, elevated ground they believed would last forever. The lake’s water level was stable for millennia, until the eruption of Mount Nemrut changed everything. 'It’s not that Lake Van would have had to have been 85 feet lower,' said LaCroix. 'It would have had to have been more like 100 feet lower or more, because these ruins are at 85 feet deep. So, what could account for a lake rising over 100 feet?'
