ESEE FIRE STEEL - Making Char Cloth/Flint and Steel Fire
burnwoodbushcraftOriginally published on August 10, 2020 ESEE Fire Steel - Making Char Cloth/Flint and Steel Fire #Esee #charcloth #flintandsteel Flint and steel is a fire starting option that I have been wanting to add to my fire kit. When searching for a steel striker I decided on the one made by Esee/Rowan. The ESEE KNIVES FIRE STEEL is built from 1095 Carbon Steel and heat treated to be used as a fire making tool for use with true flint and charred material. The edges of the Fire Steel also work as a Ferrocerium (Ferro) rod striker, and the center divot is designed to be used as a bow drill socket. Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE! Siberian Fire Lay - All Night Survival Fire
burnwoodbushcraftDue to my recent struggles with maintaining a warm fire on cold nights I decided that it is time to work on my #fire game. Today we are taking a look at the Siberian fire lay which is can be referred to as an all night fire or #survival fire. It is designed to put off a lot of heat using a base log and several overhanging feed logs. I am in a beautiful woodland that is familiar and I haven't been to this area of the woods since my younger days. These woods connect to the woods where I have my base camp. It was nice to have a change of scenery in this lush coniferous forest that has lots of Pine, Hemlock and Ash trees. The forest floor is carpeted with running cedar (club moss) and is very pleasing to the eye. I will be visiting this woodland for many #bushcraft trips frequently in the coming months and I'm very excited to see what unfolds. Remember to practice fire safety and never walk away from a burning fire. Thanks for watching! The Upside-Down Campfire
burnwoodbushcraftI am super impressed with the upside-down campfire. This fire lay just might be my go-to fire configuration when it comes to #bushcraft and #camping. This is the type of #fire lay that allows you to get to other things while the fire is growing such as camp chores, preparing dinner or building a shelter. This fire lay takes some time to prepare but it is worth it in my opinion. It is very low maintenance but, as with any fire, it needs to be watched closely once it is really going good. Instead of taking up time to grow a good fire, take it nice and easy with this one. The prep is the hardest and most time consuming part of it. How to Start a Campfire Using a Ferro Rod (For Beginners)
burnwoodbushcraftIn this video I demonstrate how to start a campfire using a ferrocerium rod (ferro rod, fire steel). The ferro rod is an excellent #firecraft tool. My tips and tricks of using this "must have" survival tool may be helpful if you are new to #bushcraft, #survival or prepping. I show you how to catch a spark on two types of tinder; tree bark and fatwood (resinous pine wood). I also show you how to grow your campfire once you have a flame. I hope this video is helpful. Always practice fire safety anywhere you have a campfire and never walk away from a burning fire. Thank you for watching!
