1941 Plymouth Coupe - America Goes to War
10 videos
Updated 5 months ago
My build of a 1941 Plymouth Coupe. This is part of a build series I call: America Goes to War. The name comes from the fact that automobile manufacturing stopped producing civilian cars and trucks in 1941 and switched manufacturing over to manufacture war time equipment for WWII.
This series includes an 1941 Chevy Pick Up and a B-24 Liberator. The B-24's were built at a Ford Plant and Ford also built a new plant just for the B-24 that could than be converted to cars and trucks after the war.

1941 Plymouth Coupe & 1941 Chevy Pickup Update and Final - Part 10
Skip's Messy Workbench1941 Plymouth Coupe & 1941 Chevy Pickup Update and Final - Part 10 It's been a long time, but I finally finished the '41 Chevy Pickup and the '41 Plymouth Coupe. They were interesting builds, to say the least. The video will start with the '41 Chevy Pickup. This kit was a joy to build and I don't like tooting my own horn, but I think it came out really well. The next part is the '41 Plymouth Coupe. The kit was fun and frustrating at the same time. In my opinion, this kit had a lot of 'issues'. I kept notes about what I thought was wrong and also how I fixed it or will fix it the next time I build this kit, and since I have two more of these kits I will be building it at least one more time. My website photo journal will have a detailed list of items that I think need attention, modification and/or rebuild. Today is Tuesday, March 14, 2023. My website should be updated in about a week. My website has now had SSL added to it and is now secure. The address will now start with 'https://' and you should see the icon from Google that identifies the site as being safe. 1941 Plymouth Coupe & 1941 Chevy Pickup Update But Not Final Build - Part 09
Skip's Messy Workbench1941 Plymouth Coupe & 1941 Chevy Pickup Update But Not Final Build - Part 09 I know I said in Part 08 that the next video would be of the finished models; however, I ran into some issues that put the brakes on the completion. Part 09 tells of some of this issues and are also in the following list: 1. The '41 Chevy Pickup cab had to be put in an IPA bath to strip all the paint and then repainted and recleared. 2. Because the cab had to be repainted, the interior could not be worked on because part of it is part of the cab and part of it is part of the chassis. 3. On the '41 Plymouth, I neglected to put the front windshield divider in place. 4. The areas on the '41 Plymouth where chrome would be are not well defined and are extremely difficult to bare metal foil. I already did the edges of the hood 3-times and still don't have it right. 5. The left and right side of the engine compartment lined up during dry fitting, but now there is an issue with the inner wall on the left side. It can be resolved, but is taking a lot of time. 6. I noticed after shooting this video that the '41 Plymouth body paint has a lot of orange peel that can't be seen with the naked eye, but when the lights and the camera are on it the orange peel really pop's. I won't be fixing that because this is a shelf car and it can't be see with the naked eye in normal lighting. So...this set me back a-bit. There are a lot of things that I don't like about the '41 Plymouth kit. I'm keeping a list of them because I have another '41 plymouth kit that I'll build later incorporating what I find needs to be fixed. When the car is finished, I'll share the list of things I would do different and also would add to the build on my website and in the description of the final video.
