Mere Simulacrity, Session 1 If you want to impose a totalitarian system, you have a problem on your hands: reality. The real is in your way and will eventually veto your project. Far sooner, people who can perceive reality will step in and prevent you from taking society over a cliff. Therefore, the only way to install a totalitarian system is to negate the real in the minds of those over whom you would rule. This is accomplished by creating an interpretive frame that deliberately causes people to misunderstand reality, sometimes called a "second reality" or "pseudoreality," or even a "hyperreality," which loses all contact with reality through its images and constructions. The totalitarian system "works" and would only work in that false image of reality. In his first talk at the Mere Simulacrity conference in Phoenix, Arizona, in December 2022, Dr. James Lindsay presents the idea and mechanism of negating the real to replace it with a hyperreal simulation in which totalitarianism can be accomplished. Mere Simulacrity, Session 2 Throughout the ages, theological and philosophical movements have been advanced based upon half-truths, false rhetoric, and equivocations championed as axiomatic principles. Theologians and philosophers, whether they are evangelical or non-evangelical, still use similar rhetorical devices to champion claims that undercut the concept of a universally valid approach to knowledge. They will say things such as: People have different perspectives, right? Clearly your background and personal biases influence your reading of the Bible or any other text, right? It would be overly prideful to claim that anyone particular person has the correct interpretation of the text, so why don’t you take a humbler approach? Fundamental to these questions is a half-truth; namely, the fact that people do approach events, texts, or situations from different vantage points. However, underlying this approach is a philosophical commitment to the belief we cannot have universally valid frameworks of understanding. Many believe any commitment to a universally valid framework of understanding ought to be considered arrogant, white, western, patriarchal, or racist. Essential to this line of reasoning are one of many philosophical approaches to reality known as idealism, subjectivity, relativism, perspectivalism, or any other “ism” that affirms all we have are interpretations, not knowledge. Dr. Bill Roach traces the rise of different idealistic revolutions up to the present day embrace of the existential method by evangelical scholars and pastors. He addresses Plato’s metaphysical idealistic, Kant’s epistemological idealistic revolution, Schleiermacher’s hermeneutical idealistic revolution, and Post-Modernism’s linguistic idealistic revolution. Special emphasis is placed upon leading figures in philosophical hermeneutics and the various ways present-day scholars, whether secular or evangelical, have embraced one or more of the various expressions of philosophical idealism. Now, in coordinated effort with the World Economic Forum Agenda 2030, business leaders are seeking to integrate distinctly religious terms and ideas into their practices. Though not referring to it by name, the post-millennial eschatological framework provides the foundation for their globalist, utopian vision. Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Investments, is our case study and exhibit A, in this talk by Andy Woodard. Cathie has elsewhere stated that the kingdom of God is coming in 2030, and it will come through disruptive innovation. One specific example is that of DNA sequencing and mapping the human genome. The aim is to eradicate disease through developing the ability to edit human DNA. While dramatically expanded artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, DNA editing, and robotics that combine all of these might sound like the kingdom of God to the idealist they sound more like a dystopian, Left Behind, horror movie to the realist. Mere Simulacrity, Session 4 What has led the Christian Church down the roads of numerous Mass Formation Psychosis programs over the past 10 years across evangelicalism? Mass Formation Psychosis occurs when a significantly large group of people myopically focuses its attention on a leader or a series of events and their attention focuses on one small point or issue. Followers can be hypnotized and be led anywhere, regardless of data proving otherwise. We have seen this materialize across evangelicalism through the massive campaigns run through The Gospel Coalition, the ERLC, and various seminaries in Baptist, Presbyterian and Charismatic denominations. From CRT, to intersectionality, to Revoice, to all myriads of Christianized schemes for the faithful to embrace DEI, the reflexive campaigns led by corrupt “Christian Leaders” have led millions astray and down a road of psychological manipulation. In this discussion enters Jean Baudrillard and his understanding of hyperreality the creation of synthetic reality, which is not reality at all: it is the creation of something that is more real than real. It is beyond propaganda, but propaganda is certainly utilized. It is the creation of simulacra and simulation. And in this world of simulacrums, we are being told to ignore what was held to be orthodox, normative and true and embrace hyperreality: an unreality that has no connection with that which it claims to represent. This continuation of this process leads to the development of a faith that is not the faith that was faithfully handed down from generation to generation. What this process leads to is a rough simulated beast of C.S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity”. These are the Modern and Postmodern manifestations of the Esoteric Religions like Gnosticism and Hermeticism as they developed through what we might consider the Middle Age's "New Age" period, famously codified by G.W.F. Hegel. In the second lecture in his "Secret Religions of the West" series, Dr. Lindsay explains that these "philosophies," including Marxism, are actually mystical Esoteric cult religions posing as science, economics, and politics, and that their success in infiltrating our religions, societies, and institutions is down to their intrinsically parasitical nature. Mere Simulacrity, Session 8 Many men and women around the world are becoming familiar with the schemes and strategies of the World Economic Forum to disrupt and dismantle our current systems and ways of life and replace them with the enviro--communo-fascist concepts of Klaus Schwab and the world’s Theosophically-minded elites. And while the function of the World Economic Forum’s modus operandi is properly described as a two-legged stool: a public-private partnership that is attempting to leverage the corporate and financial giants of the world with the governmental leaders of their own making to usher in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. But a two-legged stool cannot stand on its own. A two-legged stool will ultimately fall. To properly support the weight of complete societal and systemic change, faith must be introduced as the third leg of the completed World Economic Forum stool. And so, faith leaders of the world have been incentivized to participate in helping to create a critical consciousness within the minds of their faithful flocks. Roman Catholic Integralists have led the way to creating the three-part faith-infused process of governance in the 20th and 21st centuries. Dom Helder Camara, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Recife, Brazil introduced the mechanisms of integralism in the early 1970s and as well influenced the Catholic Church’s current Pontifex Maximus, Pope Francis. This “Catholic-Fascistic-Totalitarianism” has manifested itself in movements that have taken the Protestant Church by storm over the last year. Mere Simulacrity, Session 9 I started my presentation by showing that objective truth exists and it is a biblical concept, which demonstrates that all worldviews that deny the existence of objective truth are automatically false. Then, I presented Christianity as the true story of reality because it matches reality, is internally consistent, and is based on a reliable authority, namely, the resurrected Jesus of Nazareth who is the truth (John 14:6) and who's teachings are based on the Word of truth, the Bible (John 17:17). From there, I presented what the Bible says about false teaching and showed how in the New Testament false teaching is always an attempt to counterfeit the real thing. Then, I showed the 5-step process for how false teaching sought to embed itself in the early church with Gnosticism (e.g., Colossians and 1 John) and the Judaizers (e.g., Galatians).
