Elephants Made to Race In Nepal Festival

This year's event lasted five days and the winning elephant handler, or mahout was Khaga Choudary - his third victory in as many years.

Khaga Choudary, winning mahout of Bahadur Gaj, saying (Nepali):

"It depends on one's handling and skills. The more one tries, the better the elephant runs."

Mahouts have defended their training methods after coming under fire from animal rights groups.
