Quake II (Xbox 360) Gameplay -No Commentary-
I realized recently that I do not own Quake 4 on the Xbox 360, so I decided to rectify the situation by picking it up. Of course, if you are going to buy Quake 4 on the Xbox 360, you had better make sure it comes with the bonus disk that has the HD remaster of Quake II on it.
It's kind of rough playing it with the controller though. I'm just playing on medium difficulty here, and if you lose focus for a few seconds, you'll become a pile of red paste very quickly. Other than that, this is a great remaster to own. I think this means I own every retail version of Quake II outside of the Mac version.

Painkiller: Black Edition (PC) Gameplay -No Commentary-
I recently picked this game up off Steam, because I always wanted to play it. Definitely not a traditional FPS game, but similar to what would eventually morph into the throwback shooter style. You traverse the game's levels while killing wave after wave of enemies, and your movement is fast and fluid. Solid single player here from what I have played, but would have been an acquired taste in it's day.
If you're a Serious Sam fan, but for some reason have yet to play Painkiller, it's definitely worth a look. I do assume that most PC gamers from the era have at least heard of this game. It was sort of a smaller title for it's day, but it has held it's popularity through the years.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (PC) Gameplay -No commentary-
A while back I picked up all three Rocksteady developed Arkham games for a mere $8 on a Steam sale, and I like them. When one of them is annoying me, I'll just switch off to the next game in the series. Normally it's Arkham Knight that annoys me with it's stupid tank battle scenes, but I am slowly playing through all three in whatever order I feel like. I've put the most time into Arkham Knight, but they are all really good.
I remember watching a friend play this game when it first hit, and I thought it looked good, but wasn't my thing at the time. I've since come back around to play all three thanks to a Steam sale. The only one I owned previously was the 360 version of Arkham City which another friend gave to me, but I didn't play for the first time until I bought the Steam versions.
Anway, solid game, and while it doesn't have the big expanded maps of the sequel, it's still worth playing. It has aged very well, even when compared to the sequels. The early Unreal 3 engine graphics may not have aged as well, but they still look good. I like Unreal 3, the official engine of the PS360.
I guess I just need Arkham Origins to complete the whole set

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition Gameplay -No Commentary- (Optiplex 9020, i7 4790, RTX 2060 KO)
The whole Metro series was on sale on Steam, and since I never got around to picking them up despite wanting to play them, I finally picked them up for $13 and some change.
Exodus is slow to start, but once the open world gameplay starts, I've enjoyed it a lot more than I did for the first part of the game. Right now, the game is kind of tough, I've died a lot, but I am enjoying it. It's sure that once you get better equipment later one, it gets even better. Good game. Look into it if you haven't yet.
I'm running at 1080p (I don't have a monitor that goes higher), with full RTX reflections, and DLSS on. For my little 2014 office computer build, I'm happy with the performance. Runs great, look great.

CULTIC Demo Gameplay (PC) -No Commentary-
I just downloaded the demo and thought I would share some gameplay of this Throwback FPS. So far, I think it's a really solid throwback FPS. Like so many other throwbacks, you see a lot of influence from Blood in this game. It's also an extremely gory game as well. Definitely worth a look, and for the $9.99 asking price, eventually it'll be worth a buy for me. You can download the demo off Steam to play for yourself to see if it's something you want to buy.

Tomb Raider III (PC) Level 1 Gameplay -No Commentary-
I recently bought the first four Tomb Raider games off Steam just to have the whole set. I already own Chronicles in physical form. I have also discovered that using the controllers that come with the Playstation Classic are a great way to play these games on the PC. The only one is doesn't work so well with is the original which doesn't recognize the trigger buttons.
Now, if you owned this on the PS1 instead of the PC back in the day, you may be wondering what differences in the two are. Well, for one, the PS1 version is 10 times harder. In the PC version, you can still save anywhere like you can in Tomb Raider II. For those who owned this on the PC, in the PS1 version, the green crystals which only seem to serve the purpose of giving you life in the PC version are the Save Crystals in the PS1 version of the game.
This means that in the PS1 version, you can only save during the course of the level if you have a save crystal. Run out of crystals, and you cannot save your game. I have literally lost over an hour and a half of my time playing a level in the PS1 version, because I didn't have a save crystal, or was too scared to save, because I only had one.
I tried putting my first ever playthrough of TRIII on the PS1 last year, and man, it was brutal. I ended up rage quitting after a while, because it just ground me down after a while. I even had a glitch happen where I got to the screen where you choose your next level, shut my game off, and then I could not longer choose the next level. Not even level skipping would work, I was forever stuck in London.
The PC version is far less frustrating, and a lot more playable thanks to the save system. That being said, TRIII has some other issues that make it probably my least favorite TR game in the original series. The levels in this game are huge compared to the first two. They have a ton of extra space, and are quite impressive, however, a lot of the space serves no purpose. You'll have a huge area with not much to do except maybe find an some ammo or something. It generally feels like there should be a lot more to do in these levels than there is.
There are some huge secret areas in some levels, but, for the most part, it feels like there is a lot of wasted space. I can't help wonder if maybe Core was initially planning on implementing the more open-world exploration elements in TRIII they would later use in The Last Revelation, but just ran out of time. The level designs almost feel like they were planning on it, but just ran out of time.
The story also doesn't make a whole lot of sense either, having almost as rushed a feel to it as the level designs. I never have a clue what is actually going on in the game, but then again, story isn't very important to me anyway.
Overall, I like Tomb Raider III, and still think it's a good game despite it's flaws, but it's still my least favorite of the first 5 TR games, and while some people really liked the save crystal system in the PS1 version because it makes it harder, I'm more prone to liking the PC version better, because there's nothing more frustrating than losing hours of gameplay because you have no means to save it, and get hit with an instant death trap which, oddly enough, get sprung quite often in Tomb Raider if you can believe that.

Tomb Raider Chronicles (PS1) Gameplay (PS3 upscale -No Commentary-)
Just the first level of Chronicles on the PS1. I actually played through this level three times yesterday when I recorded this footage, and didn't mind. I still love classic Tomb Raider. I played through it on the PC version first, and then twice on the PS1.
Honestly, I understand that by the time Chronicles hit, Tomb Raider burnout among gamers had already set in, but if you're a fan of the original TR games, and haven't played Chronicles, I say it's still worth a look, especially if you are decades removed from TR burnout.

Five for Five PS2 Gameplay Sampler -Part 6- (From Software Games)
I've been a fan of From Software games for a while now. Armored Core was probably the most mainstream recognizable franchise they has until the Souls games. The Kings Field, and similar games were always for more niche-type gamers. People either loved them, or found them to be too sluggish, and slow to enjoy. It is strange how gamer tastes have changed over the years, as people are more willing to give these games more of a chance.
Three of these were PS2 launch games, and the other two were still early PS2 games. I love the Adventures of cookie and Cream. I did a review of it here if you want to watch that: https://youtu.be/eQttN0MOE3I

Godfist Demo (PC) Gameplay
Welp, it's not horrible, but it's not great either. If they sell it for cheap when it releases, you might get some enjoyment out of it. I've already come across some glitches, and the gameplay is so-so. The art direction is good in my opinion, and music in the game is really awesome. However, since I uploaded a video of this game earlier, and didn't make it public, I know that I have to mute the music to show the gameplay to avoid a claim on the video. The solution is, we watch the video with no music, but the sound effects intact. I'd say that it's probably not good form to use music that will get claimed on a YT video if you're an indie developer looking to get the word out about your game. The easiest marketing for any developer is YT videos, and it's free advertising too.
Indie games are pretty hit or miss. I realized that I higher standards for PC game Mod makers than most indie studios. I've seen a lot more quality come out of the mod scene than the indie scene in my experience. Not to say that some indie developers haven't broken into the mainstream with some really awesome titles in the past.

Golden Hornet (PC) Gameplay -Choplifter with Robotron 2084 Twin Stick Controls-
Like Frantic Dimension, this is another retro gaming throwback made by Hijong Park. As the title states, this game plays like Choplifter, but with the twin-stick movement and shooting of Robotron 2084. This is another one that you can get for free if you like, or throw 99 cents down to get the Steam version of the game. The game has both an arcade mode, and a campaign mode, and I really enjoy what I have played of it so far.
Hijong Park also has a lot more retro throwbacks as well, so check their Steam page out here: https://store.steampowered.com/developer/HijongPark

Frantic Dimension (PC) Gameplay -A Fun Retro Throwback to Robotron 2084, and Space Dungeon-
You can either get this game for free on Steam, or you can do what I did, and throw a whole 99 cents at it to buy the Steam version. This is a retro throwback that is inspired by Robotron 2084, and Space Dungeon. It's a really well made game, and is super fun. I was searching up free demos on Steam, and came across this game developed by Hijong Park. I can't tell if it's just one person who made this, or if there was a team of people, but I can say this is a really fun game. I am terrible at it for sure, but if you like these kinds of games, look into this one.

Counter Force (Wii) Gameplay -ExZeus-
The Power is You! According to the title screen. Counter Force is a port of a 2004 PAL-only PS2 game called ExZeus. Apparently it was also previously released in the arcades, and it had a sequel on PC, and you can purchase ExZeus the Complete Collection on the PC/Switch/PS4/Xbox One. The complete collection of...well...both games I guess. That's the way to do it I guess, make two games and resell them for 20 years, right Bethesda/Rockstar?
This certainly isn't a great game, but it's also not a bad game either. It's in the middle. I think I paid maybe $2 tops for this game, and I don't regret it. It definitely has that "Omega Boost at Home" feel to it. It's not a bad little arcade shooter for what it is.
Looking at all the action on the screen, it's often times hard to distinguish what you are supposed to be shooting at, or where your cross-hair even is, and I swear the controls switch every time I play this game. Maybe it's different depending on the mech I choose, but it also feels like the analog stick is constantly drifting all the way right or left.
Overall, if you find it for dirt cheap, it's worth a look. It would have been a lot better with two-player support, but it is only single player. You certainly shouldn't choose this over Sin and Punishment, but it's not a bad game.

Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars (Wii) Gameplay
This is another recent pickup that I am just now getting around to playing today. So far, it seems like a fun 3D platformer with and cool mixture of elements like the ability to create new weapons by finding various parts strewn throughout the levels. If you come across this one, it's worth a look if you like unique platformers.

I just got this game in the mail today. SO far, I like it. It's a charming take on Kirby, and the yarn effects look great. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC) Gameplay -Spoiler Alert-
Wind Waker is still my favorite 3D Zelda Game of all time. Twilight Princess was awesome as well, OOT is the most overrated game of all time, Majora fans, shut up, no one cares, I haven't played Breath of the Wild, and only recently got Skyward Sword and need to play through it, but Link to the Past will always be the king. I still need to play Link's Awakening, and the Oracle games, which I have always meant to play, but never did. I was never a big Hand Held gamer which is why I missed owning them back in the day. In fact, I never owned hand helds back in the day, but if I ever get a Switch, Link's Awakening will be one of the first games I buy, along with Metroid.
I was going to cut this down to exactly 15 minutes, but I decided to at least finish off Gannon for the footage.

Just playing some Tomb Raider II. I don't have my mic hooked up, because I don't feel particularly entertaining right now, so I'll just let the game do all the talking for me instead. I'm playing on a PS2 using the Hyperking PS1/PS2 HDTV cable to upscale for this stream.
Five for Five Gamecube Gameplay Sampler (Played on a Wii for Progressive Scan)
NOTE: My Component to HDMI adapter isn't the best quality, so I had to turn the sound to Mono in a few of these clips to prevent loud popping sounds.
I don't know why people pay $400 for Gamecube Component Cables when Wii component cables will set you back $7-$12. Ya'll are crazy.

Five for Five PS2 Gameplay Sampler -Part 5- (Sega Dreamcast Ports)
Remember how surreal it was to play Sega games on a Sony or Nintendo console for the first time. I guess you had to be there to understand the magnitude of Sega going from a company that produced game consoles to being a third-party developer. I know the Dreamcast to PS2 ports weren't the best ports, but these ports, and other ports fanned the fanboy flamewars of the Dreamcast verses PS2. The hardcore DC fans swore up and down that the DC was the more powerful console. It wasn't but it definitely did some things better than the PS2 which had a very strange architecture for it's time.
The DC's texture quality, and bright color pallet still pop to this day. Honestly, I find DC visuals to still be beautiful to this day in their own way. Developers definitely struggled to port it's games to the PS2, because the PS2's tough to learn architecture. I will always remember the epic fanboy arguments from this period. The Gamefaqs Dreamcast boards have forever cemented in my mind, the DC had 8mb of V ram, while the PS2 had only 4mb. That was the argument they made. In the end, not being a tech nerd, I'm not sure if that really matters, but it sounded convincing at the time.
The PS2 was a headache for developers to get a handle on at first. By the end, the system was old-hat, but at first it had a tremendous learning curve for developers. Some, like Oddworld Inhabitants, got frustrated with the system, and published games on the Xbox instead. From what I gather, since the PS2 did nothing in-hardware, like bump-mapping with the Xbox, or the 8-texture layers in one pass like the Gamecube did, developers had to manually program such things into their games. Not many PS2 games have bump/normal-mapping, but there are a few. This meant that developers had to spend more time and resources to program those effects into their games on the PS2 whereas other systems did them in-hardware.
Note: Not now, nor ever have I been good at Space Channel 5.
