We defend free choice in everything from drug policy, to health care and retirement, to every aspect of the sharing economy. Our values, like "equal treatment under the law" and "innocent until proven guilty," animate fights for criminal justice reform. We tell the stories of people who have lived through the hardships of authoritarianism and collectivism throughout history. We show our viewers that beautiful things can happen when free people come together to make the world a better place.

It’s Groundhog Day
It’s Groundhog Day and it feels just like the movie. Two weeks to flatten the curve, over and over and over again. COVID-19 lockdowns are a time loop straight out of Bill Murray’s worst nightmare.

“Latinx” Is Offensive
#Latinx is a term that was recently coined for the Latin American community in the United States. Martha Bueno, along with many other Latin Americans, find it offensive. It’s something they can’t say in their own language. If you were to say “Latinx” in Spanish, it would be “Latino equis,” and that just doesn’t roll off the tongue. Besides that, Spanish is gendered. There’s no need for it. You can just say Latin American or Latino, and that’s all encompassing. Catch Martha Bueno on the latest episode of the Kibbe on Liberty podcast with Matt Kibbe. Watch it on YouTube or wherever you get podcasts.

Daniel Ortega Embodies the Evil of Ché Guevara
Authoritarianism is alive and well in Nicaragua. Atlas Network’s Dr. Roberto Salinas lifts the veil on Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, who has become notorious for jailing his political opponents and torturing innocent citizens merely for voicing their opinions, including the academic and liberty activist Félix Maradiaga. Ortega embodies all the worst qualities of Ché Guevara, one of the cruelest and most brutal figures of 20th century Latin America.

A Republic If We Can Keep It
A security fence topped with barbed wire surrounds the United States Capitol—the cost of which exceeds $19 million—blocking citizens from visiting areas that are normally open to the public. National Guardsmen and police officers patrol the Capitol grounds, some carrying rifles. Every one of us is an American forced to look upon a scar. As long as this gate is closed, as long as this scar of a wall is permitted to stand, it is not the American question alone that remains open but the question of freedom for all of mankind. Matt Kibbe visits the fence and asks Speaker Pelosi, “If you seek peace, if you seek prosperity, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Speaker Pelosi, open this gate. Speaker Pelosi, tear down this wall.”

Vaccines Should Never Be Mandatory
There’s a huge amount of political pressure to release a COVID-19 vaccine. This will mean limited testing and it’s reasonable to expect that there will be pressure to make vaccination mandatory. While anyone who wants the vaccine should be able to take it, it’s wrong to force an untested product on the unwilling. The question is not whether vaccines are good, but whether everything good should be mandatory. It’s hard to think of a more fundamental freedom than the right to do what you want with your own body. After all, there is a precedent for medical experts getting things wrong. Free the People creative director Sam Martin breaks it all down in the latest episode of Freedom Over Fear.

What Critical Theory Means by Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity
The current manifestation of critical theory has been called the “diversity, inclusion, and equity industry,” which is a coordinated campaign to infuse Marxist ideas into our media, schools, governments, and workplaces through written work, well designed social media graphics, workplace seminars, and diversity training. Sam Martin, creative director at Free the People, breaks down what the woke left really means when they use these words in the new series, The Cult of Wokeness.

Happy 4th of July from Free the People
Matt and Terry Kibbe have escaped Washington, DC to the middle of nowhere in Alaska, and it reminds us of everything that we love about America. They’ve been drinking beer, listening to live concerts legally, dodging grizzly bears, and hiking all over the Denali National Park. Once you get outside of the bubble, you realize that this country is just fantastic—not just because it’s physically beautiful, but because the idea of America is beautiful. It’s about people like you, pursuing your dreams, regardless of what anyone else thinks, as long as you don’t hurt people or take their stuff. So this Fourth of July, drink to that.

What Will Be Left After #CancelCulture?
What will be left when all the statues are torn down and the last comedian has been canceled for telling an off-color joke? When offensive books are banned from libraries and schools, when the museums are emptied because history is messy and unpleasant? What will be left? How can we hope to learn from the past if we destroy all the reminders that it ever happened?

Our values, like "equal treatment under the law" and "innocent until proven guilty," animate fights for criminal justice reform. We tell the stories of people who have lived through the hardships of authoritarianism and collectivism throughout history. We show our viewers that beautiful things can happen when free people come together to make the world a better place.

Unchecked Government Kills. Fight the Power!
Be outraged over the unchecked state power that enabled the murder of George Floyd and the looting and violence in our cities. Unchecked power can take away your livelihood. Unchecked power can kill. Unchecked power can weaponize racism. Matt Kibbe knows that checking unchecked power is how we restore justice and protect innocent lives. Justice for George Floyd requires more than a murder conviction, we need to break the privilege system that creates and protects bad cops once and for all.

The Unstoppable Human Spirit
If you watch the news, you’d think the world is coming to an end. All we hear about is the coronavirus pandemic, medical shortages, food shortages, and we forget about the intrepid nature of the human spirit to come together under one goal, one flag, one cause. When the regulations and laws are stripped away to allow businesses to innovate, retool, and activate their millions of workers, something brilliant happens. People work together for better solutions. Are we really as divided as they’re making us out to be? Maybe we’re more united than ever. Created by Sam Martin.

Dear Government, Stop Helping
Matt Kibbe rails against big government. We are told to defer to bureaucrats and politicians—the experts best suited to manage the COVID-19 crisis. But they are the ones who have failed, catastrophically, every step of the way. Government deciders are telling you that there is no choice but to maintain the lockdowns that are strangling us. Government, please stop helping. You’re hurting. Stop deciding for us. Stop meddling. Stop all this madness and free the people, because we are the ones who will keep people safe, rebuild the distributed production of food that will keep people fed, and get back to work so we can all afford to keep health care workers paid and hospitals open. It’s that simple.

Are Political Cures Worse Than the Disease?
Matt Kibbe makes some sense of the coronavirus outbreak and economic implications of rash political decisions. What if our political leaders, with the best stated intentions, are making us less safe in the name of public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic? Our longterm ability to ensure the best health possible for every American, depends upon our keeping our jobs and a healthy economy.

How to Love Your Enemy: A Restorative Justice Story (Official Trailer)
Free the People is proud to bring you How to Love Your Enemy: A Restorative Justice Story. Winner of Best Feature and Best Director at the Front Range International Film Festival.
A city in Colorado tries a different kind of justice system powerful enough to change the incarceration game of the U.S. Instead of locking up non-violent offenders, these advocates focus on the challenging but rewarding process of apology, forgiveness, and redemption that radically shifts our idea of justice and our part in it.
