Soulmates are Fake (feat. Brad Wilcox)
In Today's "Moment of Truth," Nick and Emma sit down with Brad Wilcox, Director of the National Marriage Project and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Family Studies, to discuss the sorry state of marriages in the United States, the impact of healthy families on our culture and economy, and why all of the bad news around Covid19 might not be so bad for marriages.
W. Bradford Wilcox is Director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia,Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia, Visiting Scholar at theAmerican Enterprise Institute, and a Senior Fellow at theInstitute for Family Studies.
In his latest work with Nicholas H. Wolfinger,Soul Mates: Religion, Sex, Love, and Marriage Among African Americans and Latinos(Oxford, 2016), Brad Wilcox shines a much-needed spotlight on the lives of strong and happy minority couples. They find that both married and unmarried minority couples who attend church together are significantly more likely to enjoy happy relationships than black and Latino couples who do not regularly attend. Churches serving these communities, Wilcox and Wolfinger argue, promote a code of decency, encompassing hard work, temperance, and personal responsibility, that benefits black and Latino families.
Professor Wilcox’s research has focused on marriage, fatherhood, and cohabitation, especially on the ways that family structure, civil society, and culture influence the quality and stability of family life in theUnited Statesand around theglobe. Now, Dr. Wilcox is exploring the contribution that families make to the economic welfare ofindividualsandsocieties. He is also the coauthor ofGender and Parenthood: Biological and Social Scientific Perspectives(Columbia, 2013, with Kathleen Kovner Kline), and the author ofSoft Patriarchs, New Men: How Christianity Shapes Fathers and Husbands(Chicago, 2004). Wilcoxhas published articles on marriage, cohabitation, parenting, and fatherhood inThe American Sociological Review, Social Forces, The Journal of Marriage and FamilyandThe Future of Children.
His research has been featured inThe New York Times,The Wall Street Journal,The Atlantic,Slate,National Review Online,NPR, NBC’sThe Today Show, and many other media outlets. Wilcox consults regularly with companies such as Nestle, Procter & Gamble, and Kimberly-Clark on fertility and marriage trends in the United States.
As an undergraduate, Wilcox was a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia (’92) and later earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University. Prior to coming to the University of Virginia, he held research fellowships at Princeton University, Yale University, and the Brookings Institution.

Why Chinese 5G and Missile Silos Don’t Mix (feat. Commissioner Brendan Carr)
In Today's "Moment of Truth," Saurabh and Nick sit down with FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr to discuss China, 5G, Huawei, ZTE, Apple, Facebook, Google, and the forthcoming political realignment when it comes to section 230 reform and breaking up Big Tech. Plus, why it's bad for ZTE equipment to operate 5G towers next to our nuke silos in Montana.
Commissioner Brendan Carr is the senior Republican on the Federal Communications Commission, and he served previously as the agency’s General Counsel.
Described by Axios as “the FCC’s 5G crusader,” Carr has led the FCC’s work to modernize its infrastructure rules and accelerate the buildout of high-speed networks. His reforms cut billions of dollars in red tape, enabled the private sector to construct high-speed networks in communities across the country, and extended America’s global leadership in 5G.
Commissioner Carr is also focused on expanding America’s skilled workforce—the tower climbers and construction crews needed to build next-gen networks. His jobs initiative promotes community colleges and apprenticeships as a pipeline for good-paying 5G jobs. And he is recognizing America’s talented and hardworking tower crews through a series of “5G Ready” Hard Hat presentations.
Commissioner Carr leads a groundbreaking telehealth initiative at the FCC. The Connected Care Pilot Program supports the delivery of high-quality care to low-income Americans and veterans over their smartphones, tablets, or other connected devices. The Program is helping to drive down health care costs while improving patient outcomes.
Commissioner Carr’s time outside of Washington helps inform his approach to the job. He regularly hits the road to hear directly from the community members, local leaders, and small business owners that are impacted by the FCC’s policies at town halls and other events across the country.
Commissioner Carr brings over a dozen years of private and public sector experience in communications and tech policy to his position. Before joining the agency as a staffer back in 2012, he worked as an attorney at Wiley Rein LLP in the firm’s appellate, litigation, and telecom practices. He litigated cases involving the First Amendment and the Communications Act. Previously, Commissioner Carr clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit for Judge Dennis Shedd. And after attending Georgetown University for his undergrad, Commissioner Carr earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law where he served as an editor of the Catholic University Law Review.
Commissioner Carr was nominated to the FCC by President Trump and confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate.
Commissioner Carr grew up in Virginia and now lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and three children.

Professor Catholic Cowboy Will See You Now (feat. Kevin Roberts, Ph.D.)
In Today's "Moment of Truth," Saurabh & Nick sit down with Kevin Roberts, CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, to discuss the state of higher education in America, critical race theory, states rights, and how getting married young and having kids will change the world.
Also, Nick Solheim is officially engaged. Congrats to Nick & Evie! (see photos in video podcast on YouTube, Facebook, & Rumble)
Kevin Roberts, Ph.D., is the Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.A lifelong educator, Roberts earned his Ph.D. in American history from The University of Texas, thereafter serving as a history professor, and ultimately starting his own K-12 school, John Paul the Great Academy in Louisiana. He was then hired as president of Wyoming Catholic College, which theNew York Timesdescribed as being full of “cowboy Catholics” for refusing federal student loans and grants. Both schools led by Roberts have earned regular recognition for being among the top Catholic schools in the nation.
As a scholar of America’s Founding, Roberts approaches every public policy issue with the desire to increase self-governance and decrease government overreach. Naturally, though he oversees all the Foundation’s policy efforts, he gravitates to initiatives on education reform, improving history and civics instruction, and transparency in government.
An avid outdoorsman, Roberts and his wife have four children and share a deep love for the Texas Hill Country. They are parishioners at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock.

The True Cost of War (feat. Joe Kent)
In Today's "Moment of Truth," Saurabh & Nick sit down with Joe Kent, former Green Beret and CIA Operative, to discuss the true costs of war, what an America First foreign policy looks like, what to do about Russia, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and how to bring manufacturing back to the US and beat China.
About Joe Kent:
I was born in a cabin in Sweet Home, Oregon, and grew up in Portland, Oregon. Growing up, I spent much of my formative years in the Cascades and Columbia River Gorge, thanks to Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts. I have always considered the Pacific Northwest my home and wanted to fight for this nation.
When I was eighteen, I enlisted in the Army as an infantryman and earned my way into the Ranger Regiment and then Special Forces. After 9/11, I volunteered at every opportunity to serve in combat. I did this for over twenty years and eleven combat deployments. I intended to continue to serve our nation in hostile locations abroad until my world turned upside down on January 16th, 2019, when my wife, Shannon Kent, was killed fighting ISIS in Syria. At that moment, I knew I had to step away from putting myself in physical danger so I could be there for our two young sons. Shannon was killed approximately one month after President Trump attempted to pull our troops out of Syria because we had met our military objective. This attempt to end a war brought out the Establishment’s true colors as they resisted him at every step.
Seeing the Establishment’s hubris and contempt for a President that represented the country’s will and the people’s best interests, I knew I had to act. However, this time my fight was to defend America First policies. No one asked me to do this. I sought out every opportunity and any media outlet that would give me a platform to use mytwenty-year expertise physically fighting these wars to articulatehow correct President Trump was. Defending Trump’s policies gave me a taste of the savage fight we face against a hostile mainstream media and deeply entrenched political class. I eagerly sought out the opportunity todefend President Trumpwhen The Atlantic, a well-known publication, printedslanderous accusationsabout the President.
I moved back to the Pacific Northwest to get my sons closer to my parents and family. After living in Portland for a short time, I realized that the far left had ruined that city and relocated to Yacolt, Washington. I chose to live here because I knew that this district’s people share my traditional conservative values, and it would be an ideal environment to raise my sons. I voted for Representative Beutler to stand firm for my family and our district. She betrayed that trust and made it clear that I needed to act decisively.
In over 20 years of fighting on the battlefields and through my wife’s death, I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of failed policy. The Establishment is too self-absorbed to represent the will of the people they are supposed to represent.I have also seen firsthand that you cannot persuade someone to fight when the odds are against you. Only those with the courage of conviction will continue to fight when the odds are not in their favor. No one has asked me to do this. I’m volunteering now, just like I did 22 years ago. Suppose we rely on traditional candidates that have done nothing but run for office or have no experience in a hard fight and have never been in danger. In that case, our voices and our movement will succumb to the left’s dark vision for this nation. Portland and Olympia demonstrate this with their failed policies that surround this great district.
I want to go forward and fight because I want to fight, and I know how to fight. This is for the future of our nation and the legacy that we will leave for our children. This is what is compelling me to run for office. It would be an honor to earn your vote and serve this great country once more.

So How About Those Family Values (feat. Terry Schilling)
In today's episode, Saurabh, Nick, and esteemed guest Terry Schilling discuss getting married young, having kids, pro-family federal policies, and how pornography is destroying sex and marriage.
Terry Schilling is the President of American Principles Project. Terry is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing APP’s strategy, messaging and grassroots activity at the state and federal level. As the son of a small business-owner, Terry knows how to leverage limited resources to generate maximum results. He takes the same approach to politics—especially campaigns. In the past, Terry has worked in communications, development, grassroots, and management positions with Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Sen. Sam Brownback, and various state and local candidates. Before joining APP, Terry managed his father’s race for Congress in Illinois. Running in 2010 on a shoestring budget in a district that had been Democratic for nearly 30 years, Terry led the Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign to a 10-point victory. He is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville and a proud father of five.
