Her background is in sales originally. She sold everything from system computers in the 80s to being a pharmaceutical rep for 20 years. You learn the best lessons ever when you’re in sales.
Sales toughens you up. She went into real estate lending in different areas which led to teaching.
She teaches online courses for multiple universities and worked as the MBA chair at Forbes School of Business and different positions at other universities.
She says, “One good thing about getting older is you know so much because you’ve done so much”. Diane never thought she would write about curiosity at all. She fell into it because of her radio show.

Scaling From 1 to 100 with Henry Ma and Tony DUrso
Show notes: https://tonydurso.com/podcast/scaling-from-1-to-100-with-henry-ma/ He started off in investment banking after graduating from NYU with a degree in finance and economics, but little did he know that would be something completely different from what he’s doing now.
Henry enjoyed the challenge of working in investment banking, but it was less fulfilling than he had thought in terms of growing and scaling.
He discovered that he likes to focus on more than just the financial aspects of a business. This led him to wanting to see where he could add value inside of a business to take it from 1-100. And he’s really enjoyed his journey figuring everything out along the way.
Henry took some of the lessons he learned through his career in investment banking and applied some of the financial principles to look at the financial health of a business from an ongoing standpoint. He has been able to grow in more than just the financial side of a business given his current role.
As an entrepreneur you have to enjoy the process Henry says. He grew up around sewing and embroidery machines, and his experience in investment banking helped him propel into his role today.
Even though he started out with sewing machines and embroidery machines, it has branched off to a lot more.
His vision of Ricoma is to become the one stop shop and have different solutions for apparel decorators. The saying behind the scenes at Ricoma is, “as long as people wear clothes, we’re going to be in business”.
His core mission is to help entrepreneurs who want to get into the business with different technology. Whether that’s equipment, software, training and supporting them. He wants to help get them started in this business and help them scale it.

Henry Ma is a business expert who helped over 3,000 startups and established business owners in over 150 countries grow their decorated apparel businesses in his role as CEO of the embroidery machine manufacturer, Ricoma.

The E-Myth Revisited with Michael E Gerber on The Tony DUrso Show

He started off framing homes, because he liked working with his hands. He did so well, he became the person that fixed the mistakes that other framers make.
When moving to northern California to set up his own business, his brother-in-law asked him to help him with his Silicon Valley advertising agency clients who were having difficulty in converting leads to sales.
Michael didn't know anything about that, but with a willing heart, he rolled up his sleeves to help.
Starting off with Bob, who had a high-tech company, and a ton of leads that were created for him, Michael was pushed into something that he wasn't certain about when he started. But the owner of the company, his brother-in-law. told him that he knew that he (Michael) knew more than he thinks he knows.
And so Michael was pushed into an industry that was totally new, and was put to the task to help a company in an area that was completely foreign to him.
Humorously, this first client asked Michael what he knew about his business, to which Michael answered, "nothing."
A little disconcerted, he asked him what he knew about his product, to which Michael answered, "less than that."
Even more unsettled, Bob (the first client) asked, then how can you help me. To which Michael said that the advertising agency owner was certain he (Michael) could help him, so let's find out.
Here he is, a house-framer, and thrust into a conversation about something that he believed he didn't have any knowledge about.
Thus, Michael began asking the business owner questions to find out what he (the owner) knows about.
And as he went down this path, Michael found that the business owner's answers about his own business were all anecdotal... And he learned that the business owner didn't know anything about business, but he owned one...

Living Like An Olympian with Bri Seeley on The Tony DUrso Show

She was raised as an only child by an entrepreneur, dancing to the beat of her own drum. When it was time, Bri got her bachelors degree and next her masters degree in fashion design.
She knew when it came time to get a real job, she still wanted to have her creativity. What followed was Bri accidentally started her own fashion label.
Fast forward 8 years from starting her fashion label. She was dressing celebrities, her clothing was worn on the Bachelor, LA fashion week, winning awards at Phoenix fashion week and so on.
But behind closed doors, she was miserable. She was having panic attacks and didn’t want to do what she was doing anymore.
Bri was faced with a lot of struggles.
Her pivotal point was during a meditation when she heard, “shut it down and walk away”. She did not take that lightly and 72 hours later, she closed her fashion brand of 8 years.
After that she ventured into the unknown, but knew that she wanted to remain an entrepreneur.
Bri started to clean out her email inbox and saw entrepreneurs had been emailing her for years asking her to help them with their businesses. At the time, she would respond that she was a fashion designer and they should look elsewhere.

Extraordinary Wisdom of Awareness with Michael Benner on The Tony DUrso Show

He is from the Baby Boomer generation and like so many of us, he remembers a TV being rolled into the living room when he was a child.
Michael was always fascinated with the truth, but he never believed his parents were giving him the full story. After all, kids never get in on the full deal...
He felt left out and later knew that if he majored in broadcast journalism, he would be that much closer to the truth.
Michael was an amateur radio operator in junior high school and loved the magic of the radio. He then went to Michigan State University and worked in radio news at a local radio station in Lansing, Michigan.
Five or six years into his broadcast journalism career, he began to realize that the majority of the news was government and politics. It wasn’t the truth he had been searching for.
He was doing radio until the 80s, when radio really took a turn and became politically oriented and he didn’t like that. Radio is a young person’s field, and mid-life you need to think about a second career.
Between recognizing he was getting older and needing a second career and the nature of talk radio swinging to mean and hostile, he thought “What else will I do?”
So, he took a year off. Michael moved out to a cabin in the mountains north of Los Angeles. He thought about what he would do and kept coming up with taking what you love and making that a career and that was personal development.
He started to read about psychology and philosophy. He always loved people. Whether people were joyous or mean, he was still curious about who they were.
Eventually, this led to just philosophy, which is the study of truth. He was interested in why people think the way they think, feel the way they feel, and do the things they do...

Michael Benner is the author of Fearless Intelligence — The Extraordinary Wisdom of Awareness and the breakthrough self-awareness training, Internal Vigilance, commissioned by the Orange County California Sheriff’s Academy in Anaheim.

Hacking Your Brand with Jeremy Ryan Slate on The Tony DUrso Show

He has his masters in early Roman propaganda but there weren't people lining up to hire someone with that background. He eventually went into teaching at a Catholic school because it was an available job.
When he learned a little about networking marketing, he quit his job thinking he would be a soon-millionaire, but it didn't quite happen that way, and he navigated through different entrepreneurial attempts.
It was when he started working on websites at a marketing company that he started his Create Your Own Life podcast completely as a hobby. The podcast took off like a skyrocket.
From there, opportunities came to set up and produce other podcasts, getting guests on other shows, marketing the guests, and a multitude of promotional activities that help make his guests into bigger celebrities.
Today:
He works on finding the right audience for busy CEOs, teaching them to speak the right way, getting them booked on the best shows for them, and growing their notoriety through effective public relations.
He believes that as people we are finite in that we can only do so much on our own, by ourselves. If he can uplift people who have impactful purposes that he aligns with, and that he wants to support, then he can make a huge impact.
It's all about lifting up other people who have really good, big purposes, that he can help push out there, and put them in the right direction. As a brand, he can make massive impact that way.
It's about helping to create the future that he wants his children, and other people to have, through the people that his company lifts up and raises up.

Explode Your Referrals with Seth Greene on The Tony DUrso Show

At 18 he wanted to be a broadway star and get into theatre. But it was tough for his family to help pay for the costs, and Seth wasn’t too keen on being a waiter in New York while he worked to get into the show business.
Instead, he chose to be a student financial aid to help families cut the costs of college and he eventually went to work at a Fortune 500 financial services firm. Here’s where he learned the opposite of how to explode his referrals.
He learned how to make 300 cold calls a day, interrupt strangers and ask them for money (before the advent of the Internet and the Do Not Call List).
Hating cold calls (don’t we all?) he found the #1 marketing guru at the time, Dan Kennedy and eventually borrowing more than his mortgage to go work with Dan.
In less than 2 years he went from the lowest rank at his firm, to the top 30 nationwide in sales, while in his 20s.
This got him written up in the company newsletter, trade journals, and even in a few books.
That also started other agents & advisors calling him to learn his methods. That lead to start his own marketing firm to do it for other companies.
Today, 14 years later, they have served nearly 3000 clients, all over the world and generated 30 million prospects for their clients.
He loves to create cutting edge marketing campaigns that deliver amazing results for their business owners & clients & transform their lives.

Higher Purpose Connection with Scott Mason on The Tony DUrso Show

Born in England, raised in Kansas, he ended up in New York City for law school. As an attorney he climbed his way up as an executive for the city of New York itself.
That was a good ride, for a long time, but he always knew he was destined for something greater. And he kindled his ability as a speaker to bring out passion to unite people and excite them behind a common theme.
He was still quite focused on public policy with an intellectual interest and a significant event had to occur to get him to switch to his greater and higher purpose connection.
That event occurred, many years later, when he had the opportunity, though forced, to move to a different career.
This change is, no doubt, due to his regular pursuit of finding out why he was here on Earth and why he was given his gifts and the ultimate meaning behind what he was doing.
It seems as the regular contemplations of that, opened the door for him to move into a new, and higher-level career.
In focusing, and putting those pieces together, his life began to rapidly change.
This again, is a big change in his life, as his earlier career was not focused on professional success and purpose.
Like so many of us, he was caught up in rising up the ladder and growing his income, stature, power or authority in the professional world. But all of that was done without any connection to purpose, or more honestly, without any connection to meaning (why?).
Consider it like the house of cards that so many of us are familiar with. At some point it can (and does) go crashing down because there is nothing substantial (our purpose) that holds it up. His professional journey was merely a means to an end.
It was always pushing for "the next rung higher" until it all collapsed.
And so much more is discussed, with some very endearing and powerful, life-changing, personal life stories.

Deep Dive into Social Media with Peter Montoya on The Tony DUrso Show

Peter graduated with a degree in political science which means he had 3 options.
One was law school but he has ADHD, so school was difficult for him. Second was sales. Third was bartending which Peter decided he didn’t want to live in a bar, so he got his first job in sales.
He worked for the one and only, Tony Robbins, as one of his frontman. He was a speaker and salesman for Tony Robbins for about 2 years. He traveled the country for 5 years, then decided he knew enough to start his own business at 28 years old.
He wrote a book called, The Brand Called You. His entrepreneurial adventures started with an advertising agency specializing in personal branding. Then, Peter started various businesses thereafter.
He’s owned cross-fit gyms, finance companies, insurance companies, coffee shops, you name it. One of his most successful companies was a software marketing automation company, called Marketing Pro. And now he’s into social media.
He is a speaker, writer and an entrepreneur. This last year, during the pandemic was very productive. He was doing 100 speeches a year, resulting in a lot of the year on the road. But once the pandemic hit, he became homebound and started to do leadership training and speaking all from the comfort of his own home.
All of a sudden he had more free time. He was very engaged in politics during this time and maybe becoming a little bit of an extremist. He said some things that he really regretted and he wondered, “How could I do that?”.
He really thinks of himself as a civil, high character and kind person. So he thought, “What gave me the right to say nasty things to people that I love in the context of politics?”.
That led into a deep dive, and out of that he wrote a book called, The Second Civil War, A Citizen’s Guide To Healing Our Fractured Nation. A political self help book. It helps people who have gotten over-saturated in politics. Listen in to learn more….

His journey began with a shipwreck. Ripping a hole in the side of his yacht, from hitting an uncharted island, he was forced to re-think his life when he finally arrived in San Diego to do full repairs.
An unexpected and unplanned spiritual awakening started happening which changed his life forever. Fundamental new understandings about life, the purpose of life, forgiveness and a blossoming of intuition began to manifest.
There’s a concept, “when the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
And that actually ended up happening to Bill. The teachers appeared; teachers with legendary skills. Skills that most people say are, “not possible.”
Not only did he start witnessing it, but he actually started experiencing it himself. And he found another reality beyond the one we think we have.
The Vision for Cognomovement began with these high-level teachers and Bill transformed from a life of “service to self” to “service to others.”
And his motivation and enjoyment began in really helping people on a much higher level.
With this, he was able to help people with super hard problems. He solved problems whether financial, physical or whatever. He helped solved them all. One after the other.

His father died when he was 3 months old. Growing up, he was rebellious, had a speech impediment, had a rough childhood and even held back in second grade.
And, if that wasn’t bad enough, he actually died in a pool when he was 7 years old. His soul left his body and was en route to God’s Realm, when he was saved by a stranger who was not there when Israel turned to thank him. In fact, no one ever saw the stranger and people say he was never there.
He thanked God for being saved, and grew his appreciation for Him.
Israel saw that as an opportunity to get his life together — emotionally and spiritually changed from thenceforth.

Getting Jobs Done with Jay Haynes on The Tony DUrso Show

He started his journey in the finance world, buying companies, paying attention to if and how they innovated. He later did a stint at Microsoft hoping they had a system for innovation and found, surprisingly most companies do not have this figured out.
Moving on to venture companies he thought they had the secrets for this. While he learned everything he could, he again, found little insufficient systems in place to innovate.
He was fortunate to study with Clay Christiansen from Harvard Business School, the world's foremost authority on disruptive innovation, who spent the later part of his years working on Jobs-to-be-Done.
It is that method which Jay determined would be better to innovate; being better for companies, for entrepreneurs. This is the method Jay saw as really helping companies align with their customers.
The formation of Thrv then became the quest of finding a scientific process to be able to innovate successfully, the essence of Jobs-to-be-Done.
Crediting, or blaming, his dad, who started him on his technical journey by bringing home an Apple computer one day. - Thus the roots of his company now: technical meets innovation.

I got married nearly 3 decades ago, at the little chapel on the hill (Stauffer Chapel) at Pepperdine University so it's with great pleasure that I do this interview with the president & CEO (check out the pictures sometime.)
Jim's story and why he went to Uganda so often with his students is nothing short of amazing. If you have a more amazing story than this, please share it.
Coincidentally, his parents went to Pepperdine, and his mom's dad worked there... But when he went to high school, and played football, he resigned himself to the fact that he would never go to Pepperdine because it doesn't have a football team. ... What did he know, right? -- The rest of his story is incredible.
He went the route of going to law school, which coincidentally was at Pepperdine, and went back years later to teach there.
And here's where the story takes a major segue, in a way, and is one of the more profound stories I've ever heard.
Jim goes to Uganda to help in the field of criminal justice and takes on an amazing challenge, which is better if you heard it as typing notes about it doesn't do it much justice (a nice play of words there).
He gets into deep leadership qualities later in the interview which are spectacular on their own. — His team read Stephen R Covey's leadership book and then had Stephen speak at their retreat.
I love the starfish story too...

He is the first alumnus to lead Pepperdine as president and prior to assuming the presidency, Gash served the University at the Caruso School of Law since 1999 as a law professor and, later, the associate dean for strategic planning and external relations.
Recognized globally for his transformative work in international justice reform, Gash has devoted himself to advancing the rule of law in developing countries. Since 2010 he has visited Uganda nearly 30 times with Pepperdine students and alumni to support the country's judiciary.

His background is a professional theatre director, before the Internet got very commercialized. But, his side-job was in graphic design to help meet with the rise in demand for businesses that wanted web sites.
He learned that his love for creating theatrical experiences fit well with creating digital experiences for his clients: bringing together technology and creativity, telling a story, engaging with an audience and creating an experience that people could interact with in one way or another.

The Courage to Change with Ken D Foster on The Tony DUrso Show

It all started for him when he was getting therapy. After one year, he told his doctor that he keeps hearing this voice that says, "you have to feel the pain to make the change." In reply, the doctor said, "I can no longer help you. You need to follow that voice."
He eventually realized that it was the Voice of Change, the Voice of Courage, the Voice of Truth. The next day he walked into a recovery center and his whole world changed from there.
This started a new pattern of his looking within on a continuous basis, and to stop looking outside of himself for all the answers.
Through this, in his life, he's had a lot of wealth, and he lost it a few times and learned the secrets of success through failure.
He says, "we need to fail forward to be able to let go of some of the ego that is stopping us and are limiting us from really expanding who we are and becoming the best version of ourselves."

The Values Factor with Dr. John Demartini on The Tony DUrso Show

He was challenged as a child with learning. His first grade teacher told his parents he'll never be able to read or write or communicate effectively, go very far in life or amount to much.
But he made it through his classes in school by asking questions of the smartest kids until he was 12 as the family then moved. There weren't "smart kids" to help him at the new school he went to, and he wound up failing and dropping out of school.
Being a "street-kid" around the age of 13/14, he hitchhiked to California when 14, and then moved on to Mexico and eventually Hawaii when 15.
While just getting by and surfing, he nearly died when 17. In recovering, he was led to a one-hour class by Paul C Bragg and inspired that he could overcome his learning problems and someday become intelligent.
What he did next, and how he solved his learning disability is not only astounding to hear, but that method is completely sound and perfectly workable today if you want to greatly improve your own learning capabilities.

Dr John Demartini is a human behavior specialist, International best-selling author, educator, founder of the Demartini Institute and the author of 40 books that have been translated into 39 languages.

Paving the Way in Publishing with Dr. Melissa Caudle on The Tony DUrso Show

Her dream began when she was in the 7th grade. Challenged in her English class to write a short story for the final term paper she wrote a romance story with a fellow classmate and was hooked from then on. She fell in love with writing.
She went on to teach and at 26 became the principal of a school for juvenile delinquents. This was the youngest principal of a school in the nation, at that time.
Being worried about her situation, her dad and brother, helped her put together a crisis plan, just in case.
Well that paid off because when there was a shooting in the school (before the time of Columbine), she had gotten the entire situation under control, and classes resumed at the school within 15 minutes.
But they couldn't use the lunch room for a bit because it was a crime scene with all of the bullet holes -- she took care of everything...
Dr. Melissa Caudle, author, screenwriter and producer, earned a PhD in statistical research and administration from the University of New Orleans. She is a retired award winning high school principal who came into the television and film production arena in 1986 when she was on the morning news with a live episode talk-format segment dealing with educational issues for children.
Capitalizing on her educational training and background, she uses her experience and training to bring her readers information that is easy to understand; yet, comprehensive. Her books for screenwriters, producers, and reality show creators are fast becoming the number resources around the globe.

Originally from England, she's in the U.S. and living the American Dream. She's grabbed the world by the pearls (explained early on in the interview). Your dream is yours for the taking and Kelly helps business owners accomplish this.
She wanted to be a lawyer since the age of 5 and is the first person I've ever met who went on to accomplish what they decided as a child.
With an entrepreneur father, she was aided to accomplish her dreams. Completing law school she went to work for the biggest law firm in the world giving her the opportunity to work with brilliant minds on an international basis.
Moving on to a smaller firm she became the senior corporate attorney and learned about "rain making" (making sales & getting clients).
This all gave Kelly the great perspective on how to help business owners succeed and accomplish their dreams. It takes a business owner to understand the needs of another business owner to help them grow and manage through obstacles.
That's just the intro. — There is so much covered on how to simplify your legal for all entrepreneurs and business owners.
Now, she is a dynamic powerhouse of an attorney and has lived by that mantra every day of her life! Success takes courage, perseverance, and making bold moves! It also takes knowledge!
