"Christmas Time Is Here!" A Holiday Poem
I Love The Holidays! One of my family's greatest traditions is spending Christmas Eve with some very special friends and their families. Many in the group have a musical background and every year we play and sing Christmas carols and share the joy of the season. One of the families is Jewish, so we also sing Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel, as a part of sharing in their tradition. "Christmas Time is Here!" is a reminder that Christmas is a holiday celebrating love and forgiveness, not division and hate; reminding us that the real gifts of the holiday are each other. A simple recognition of the true "Christmas Spirit".

"Christmas Again!" A Holiday Poem
Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, and "Christmas Again!" is the first poem I wrote expressing my joy for its existence. Christmas has always been a special time, when the better angles of our nature seem to venture out more often and more generously than at any other time of the year. It is a magic holiday where wishes and dreams really can come true, whether the hoped for toy of a young child, or the miracle of forgiveness and reunion prayed for by someone nearing the end of their journey. It is a holiday of love and hope, explicitly designed to be shared with family and friends. "Christmas Again!" reflects and expresses the pure joy of the holiday, and the entire holiday season it brings.

"When Christmas Calls..." A Holiday Poem
One Christmas we were given a beautifully decorated gingerbread house by some very good friends. I knew right away I wanted to immortalize the gift with a poem. I took pictures of the gingerbread house and then wrote "When Christmas Calls..." to specifically go with the photograph, which appears next to the individual poem in "Seasons & Traditions.". It paints the holiday season as a time of love, generosity, and compassion mixed with the blessings of tradition.

"Mistletoe Remembered" A Christmas Poem
"Mistletoe Remembered" reflects a holiday in which many of the personal links to the past have begun to wane. Parents, relatives, and friends from so many past Christmases; now only memories. Your parents gone and your children grown, much of the magic and mystery has faded. While the love and joy of the holiday remain, there is now a tinge of sadness in recalling Christmases from long ago. A younger time when the experience of Christmas seemed more immediate and hopeful, and the rare exhilaration of "believing" was as natural as breathing, along with the recognition that all things were possible, still beating in your heart. It is a recognition and appreciation for the occasional "blue" Christmas we sometimes experience as part of the holiday's heritage and legacy.

"Turkey Day" A Thanksgiving Poem
Thanksgiving is a holiday that I began to appreciate more and more the older I became. The main goal of this holiday is eating. Thanksgiving is essentially a four-day feast! Other than dinner, there is not a lot of pressure or responsibility. Unlike Christmas, which has almost unlimited expectations connected to it, Thanksgiving is a relaxing holiday. Family, friends, and food, along with four days to enjoy them all. "Turkey Day" reflects a holiday where you actually have the time and environment to truly appreciate the rewards of your life with genuine and sincere thankfulness.

Halloween Poem: "Into The Night"
A celebration of Halloween, Into The Night brings "trick-or-treat!" to life with all the images and experiences that conjure up the holiday. Fear, fun, and fantasy all converge for young and old alike, on this one very magical and mysterious evening when restless spirits beckon you to escape the safety and security of your mundane, unimaginative existence to transform yourself into someone else, and go into the night!

"Spooner Summit" A Winter Poem
Between Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada, exists a little-known spot where the locals come with their families for a day of fun in the snow. There's no sign. No parking lots. No entry fee. No park rangers. Just snow - and lots of people with sleds, discs, inner tubes, and various other snow enjoyment equipment and accessories. And, if you don't have something to ride, you can just throw snowballs, or build a snowman, or fall on your butt! It's a magical place that seems to have only one reason to exist: fun.
It is a place where family is more important than work, and losing a sled race to your son is more fulfilling than an up day on Wall Street. A chance to forget everything else in your life that takes you away from what's really important: being with the ones you love. "Cat Burglar" – Funny Cat Poem!
"Cat Burglar" is a poem about our cat, "Boo." Like most cats, he would bring home the occasional dead bird, or lizard, and drop them at our feet as offerings. But one summer, Boo started bringing home more than just the usual dead prey. Over the course of the summer he brought home pool toys, sunglasses, work gloves, diapers, a Beanie Baby and enough other stuff to fill up a cardboard storage box.
We were starting to feel guilty because some of the things were pretty cool, but there was really no way to know for sure where they had actually come from. Thus the idea of "Cat Burglar" was born.
