When officers arrived, they confronted the person, 52-year-old Miguel Tapia and gave commands to drop the knife. However, Tapia refused and began advancing toward the officers. As Tapia got closer with the knife drawn, both officers opened fire, 12 shots in all, and Tapia fell motionless into the street. Police rendered aid to Tapia after the shooting, and an ambulance arrived quickly, but Tapia was pronounced dead at the scene. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Cedar Hill, Texas — On June 27, 2024, around 8:10 p.m., plainclothes detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were searching for a suspect, Jerail Fuewell, wanted on two counts of felonies when he was spotted in the area of ​​the 300 block of North Joe Wilson Road. When officers attempted to detain Fuewell, he got into his Mercury sedan and drove off. The pursuit escalated as police chased Fuewell along Highway 67 through Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and into Dallas. Dash camera footage captured Fuewell exiting the highway at Wheatland Road, running a red light, and opening fire on officers as he exited his vehicle.Fuewell then fled on foot, continuing to shoot at officers. A Cedar Hill officer and a Duncanville police officer returned fire, striking Fuewell. It remains unclear which officer's shot took him down. Additional Cedar Hill officers quickly arrived and administered first aid. Fuewell is currently in critical condition at a hospital. Video evidence shows at least four bullet holes in the front windshield of a Cedar Hill police cruiser. An officer fired through his own windshield, but it is uncertain if Fuewell’s shots also struck the vehicle. No officers were injured. Both officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, as per department policy. Fuewell now faces charges of felony evading in a motor vehicle. Deputy Iverson told Randall he had pulled him over because he saw him run the stop sign at the 4-way stop, which Randall denied having done. He told Randall to get out of the vehicle, which he did, the video shows, but then he appears to struggle with the deputy when he was attempting to handcuff him. A physical struggle ensued. The struggle ended in a single gunshot that killed Randall. Deputy Iverson shot Randall under his arm, and the bullet exited through his chest cavity, destroying his heart. Randall ran about 20 paces after he was shot, and then collapsed to the ground, where he died. During the pat-down, officials claim Randall “attempted to conceal contraband in his waistband and made furtive movements to his waistband.” The attorney for Rusk County said that the deputy believed Randall was attempting to hide a small gun down the front of his pants, but said it was later found to be a pipe in an eyeglasses case. When they arrived, they saw the man, later identified as 39-year-old Michael Ristow, and tried to make contact with him. He ran away and the officers chased after him while telling him he was under arrest. Ristow came up to a fence line and turned toward the officers with a gun in his hand. All three officers fired, striking Ristow. They provided medical care but he died later at the hospital. None of the officers were injured. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Atlanta, Georgia — On Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, around 5:00pm, Zone 5 officers responded to a shooting at 142 Joseph E Lowry Blvd NW. During the shooting investigation, officers learned that 4 male suspects occupying a Blue Tesla were directly involved in the shooting. While canvassing the surrounding area for the suspects, Zone 5 F.I.T. officers observed a vehicle matching the suspect description near the intersection of 10th St. NW and Techwood Dr NW. Zone 1 and A.C.E. Units responded to the area and were able to provide further monitoring assistance. Because the shooting had just occurred an hour and a half before spotting the suspect vehicle, A.C.E. units were granted permission by a supervisor to pursue the vehicle and attempt a traffic stop. The APD Air Unit also responded and provided the suspect vehicle’s direction of travel from the air. A.C.E. units continued to pursue the vehicle along Lee St. SW using their emergency lights and sirens while using due regard. During the pursuit, the suspect driver lost control of the vehicle and was disabled. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot while the 2 suspect passengers remained inside. The passengers were immediately detained by surrounding units and taken into custody. Officers detained the driver and brought him into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Officers recovered a firearm hidden under the driver’s pants leg. The suspect driver and passengers were identified and arrested. The fourth and final suspect who fled from units the day of the shooting was later identified and apprehended out of jurisdiction. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Indianapolis, Indiana — On May 2, 2024, just after 2:00 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) received a 911 call regarding a man waving a gun and threatening to shoot people near a housing complex in the 600 block of East 38th Street. Security camera video captured the man, later identified as 35-year-old Lemar Qualls walking around the perimeter of the housing complex. Responding IMPD officers received an update from dispatch regarding an additional 911 caller in the 3900 block of Broadway Street. The caller said a man matching Qualls' description was on her front porch waving a gun and making threats. Officers buck and flick arrived at the 911 caller's home to find Qualls on the porch. Officer flick was the first to approach and can be heard telling Qualls to put his "Hands Up". When officer Flick stepped onto the porch, Qualls was sitting in a chair and holding a gun in his right hand. Qualls raised the gun and pointed it at officer Flick. Officer Flick discharged his service weapon followed by officer Buck. The Firearm slid across the patio floor. Officers waited for additional assistance before approaching Qualls. As officer #3 approached the home, Qualls' firearm was visible on the patio stairs. The preliminary investigation indicates damage to the magazine was caused by a round from one of the officers. The impact caused Qualls to lose possession of the firearm which then landed on the stairs. Officers secured Qualls and began medical aid until the arrival of Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services. Qualls was transported to Methodist Hospital where he later died. When Deputy Corbin Smith, 25, and Deputy Edward Walker, 28, arrived on the scene at 3:19 p.m., the offender walked out the garage door. Deputies briefly lost sight of him before he reappeared and engaged them with gunfire. The deputies sought cover behind their vehicles. Deputy Walker's body camera video shows him being shot in the leg about four minutes after he arrived at the scene. Deputy Walker asks Deputy Smith to grab a tourniquet for him from his uniform, then hands Smith his rifle so he can apply it to his leg. About three minutes later, Smith is shot in the leg. He's seen on his own body camera video taking an additional tourniquet from Walker's uniform and applying it to his own leg. Several minutes after being shot Deputy Walker and Deputy Smith were told by other responding deputies they could escape the scene. Deputies were able to rescue Deputy Smith and Deputy Walker while taking gunfire from the suspect. Responding deputies returned gunfire at the offender, and he retreated inside the residence. Additional units, including the Sheriff’s Office SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Team), as well as multiple law enforcement agencies from the area, responded to assist. After receiving information that the suspect threatened to shoot an elderly female victim inside the home, members of the Sheriff’s SWAT team entered the residence and took the suspect, 59-year-old Ronald Reed Millsaps, into custody shortly after 5:00 p.m. without incident. The woman who was inside the residence was not injured, but she was transported by AMR Ambulance Service to an area hospital for observation. After the shooting, Millsaps fired between 100 and 300 shots during the attack, according to the Sheriff's Office. Millsaps, who appeared in court for the first time on Monday afternoon, has been charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. He's being held in jail in lieu of more than $2 million bond.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Casper, Wyoming — On June 6, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., multiple officers with the Casper Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance in the 5000 Block of Pay It Forward Drive. Officers spoke with the victim on scene, who made allegations that she was the victim of domestic violence. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, 26-year-old Trae Spurlock, for five minutes. After all attempts to contact Spurlock failed, Officers returned to speak with the victim. In need of personal items from her home, the victim requested to enter the residence. To ensure her safety, the officers accompanied her. While this conversation was happening, one of the officers speaks with the victim to confirm if the weapon they had just observed, was, in fact, real. Upon entering the residence, the officers found Spurlock sitting on the balcony with a rifle next to him on the ground. For nearly 15 minutes, the officers attempted to talk Spurlock into the apartment, and away from his rifle. When the officers attempted to arrest Spurlock for simple, domestic assault, Spurlock opened the sliding door and turned rapidly back towards the rifle. When the attempted use of a taser failed, the officer fired his weapon seven (7) times, six (6) of which struck Spurlock as he moved for his rifle. Officers immediately began first aid efforts and Spurlock was transported by ambulance to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * San Jose, California — On May 2, 2024, at approximately 10:31 p.m. San Jose Police Officers responded to a call of a disturbance, at a hotel located in the 6100 block of San Ignacio Avenue. The front desk clerk called on behalf of a female guest who stated, a known male suspect, 33-year-old Kevin Briones, was knocking at her door. Earlier that evening, the same guest reported that Briones, who she had a prior restraining order against, was in route to her location. Responding officers arrived at the three-story hotel and made their way to the guest room, located on the third floor. When they arrived, they located Briones, walking away from the room. Unbeknownst to the responding officers, Briones had warrants for his arrest in a history of illegal gun possession. Officers began to question Briones about his connection to the incident and asked Briones to stand-by, while they investigated. Briones was holding a duffel bag and began reaching inside the bag. One of the officers told Briones not to reach into the bag. Briones proceeded to retrieve a stolen handgun from inside his duffel bag and fired at the officers. Briones fled, running away from the officers, while continuing to shoot multiple rounds at them. At least one officer returned fire and struck Briones. Briones ran down the hall and around a corner, then briefly reemerged before jumping through a plate glass window. Briones jumped out of the third floor hallway window to the ground, outside of the hotel. Officers broadcasted a request for assistance and arriving officers located Briones hiding outside of an adjacent property. Briones was taken into custody at approximately 10:53 p.m.. Responding officers provided medical aid to Briones and to the injured officers, while they awaited medical personnel. One officer was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, he was treated and later released from the hospital. The second officer was transported to a local hospital with major life-threatening injuries. Briones was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Briones' loaded, stolen firearm was recovered from the scene. Officers contacted the female guest and her children, ages 8, 10 and 15 hiding in the hotel room. The female guest is a survivor of a recent domestic violence attack at the hands of Briones. Officers learned that Briones had an arrest warrant for that domestic violence incident. Briones has an extensive criminal history with convictions that prohibit him from owning Firearms. Briones was on active felony probation out of Santa Clara County and had two felony warrants for his arrest, at the time of the incident.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Oxnard, California — On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 11:26 p.m., Oxnard Police Department officers responded to multiple calls for service regarding a male subject walking in traffic in the area of Ventura Road and Doris Avenue. Caller information reported that the subject was holding a pair of scissors in his hand. One or more officers recognized the subject, 27-year-old Isaiah Nichols, and confirmed that he had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for attempted murder. This warrant was for an unrelated stabbing incident that occurred on May 17, 2024. During that incident, Nichols reportedly stabbed an adult female victim multiple times in the head, and then fled the scene. The incident, which occurred on a public street in Oxnard, was captured on security camera video. When officers made contact with Nichols, he was holding kitchen shears in his hand, and did not comply with numerous repeated requests by officers, calling him by his name, to drop the weapon. The mobile encounter between Nichols and the officers made its way to the 500 block of North ‘N’ Street, and then back to North Ventura Road at Doris Avenue. During the encounter, officers deployed rounds from a less-lethal “bean bag” shotgun to subdue Nichols, and also made attempts with Tasers. These attempts were unsuccessful. While on Ventura Road near Doris Avenue, Nichols suddenly turned and advanced towards the officers, as he raised the scissors. At this instant, an officer-involved shooting occurred. At the time of this news release, Nichols is being treated at a medical facility in Ventura County. Upon his release from treatment, Nichols is facing several criminal charges, including attempted murder (from the May 17 stabbing incident), as well as counts of assault with a deadly weapon upon a police officer. All of the involved officers are assigned to the Oxnard Police Department’s Patrol Division. All of the involved officers completed Crisis Intervention Team training. None of the officers involved have been involved in a previous shooting incident. At the time, all officers have been cleared to return to service in their respective assignments.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Eugene, Oregon — On the night of April 22, 2024, Washington State law enforcement issued an Amber Alert for a young child kidnapped by his father, 39-year-old Elias Huizar, who was wanted in connection with two murders. On April 23, 2024, Oregon State Troopers, Sgt. OJ Johnson and Sr. Trooper Scott Show located the suspect vehicle heading southbound on I-5 near Eugene. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle; Huizar didn't comply and a pursuit was initiated. Supt. Casey Codding joined the pursuit. Sr. Trooper Show attempts to stop the vehicle with a redirect. As Huizar vehicle continues to elude, a second redirect is attempted. Huizar stops and fires at responding troopers. Sgt. Johnson and Supt. Codding return fire. 30 sec. later the pursuit resumes southbound on I-5. Near milepost 197, Huizar moves to the highway shoulder, crashes into a CMV, and comes to a stop. Pursuing troopers arrived at the crash scene and a team of officers assembled and advanced on the vehicle to attempt contact with Huizar. Huizar was confirmed deceased by a self- inflicted gunshot wound and the 1-year-old child was safely rescued. Elias Huizar, was a former Yakima Police officer and a school resource officer (SRO) at Washington Middle School in Yakima, who in April killed his girlfriend and ex-wife, then kidnapped his own son. In early February, Huizar was arrested for the rape of a 16-year-old.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Strasburg, Virginia — On December 17,2023, at around 11:00 p.m. the Shenandoah County Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call about a woman, 40-year-old Melissa Tompkins, allegedly acting erratically and damaging property at a Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Strasburg. Officer George Rathore responded to the 911 call and encountered Tompkins in the hotel parking lot. When ordered to stop, Tompkins fled, prompting Officer Rathore to chase her back to the parking area. Despite firing two Taser cartridges, Officer Rathore was unable to subdue Tompkins. She was seen grabbing and pulling one of the Taser wires, advancing towards the officer. In the ensuing confrontation, Tompkins seized Officer Rathore’s police radio receiver, wrapping the cord around his neck. Officer Rathore, in his effort to defend himself, fell to the ground, reached for his baton, and swung at Tompkins’ leg. However, Tompkins managed to grab the baton and struck Officer Rathore in the head. The two separated briefly, with Officer Rathore then drawing his firearm. Despite his shouts of "Stop! I don’t want to shoot you," Tompkins stepped forward, prompting Officer Rathore to fire four rapid shots, hitting Tompkins in the chest. She collapsed onto the asphalt, initially moving slowly before lying still. In the chaotic moments that followed, Officer Rathore was heard shouting, "Why did you do that? Why did you do that," and calling for assistance. Officer David Rhodes arrived and performed CPR on Tompkins for 6 1/2 minutes while waiting for emergency responders. Officer Bianca Hager also came to the scene to assist. Tompkins was taken to Winchester Medical Center and later died from her injuries. Surveillance footage from inside the hotel before Officer Rathore's arrival showed Tompkins ransacking offices and the front desk area, at times hiding under desks. She was seen pulling out a security monitor from the wall after spotting herself on it and walking in a hallway carrying a fire extinguisher. Eventually, she exited through a hallway window, leading to the fatal encounter in the parking lot.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Queens, N.Y. — On the evening of December 29, 2023, two Metropolitan Transit Authority, (MTA) officers were searching for an individual on Sutphin Boulevard in Queens following a report of an alleged sexual assault. The incident occurred after a 19-year-old woman reported a groping incident at 10:11 p.m. to MTA officers at the MTAPD Jamaica district office. The officers spotted 52-year-old Bashe McDaniell, who appeared to be wearing the same clothing that was described in the report. As the officers were attempting to handcuff McDaniel, he fired a gun. The officers discharged their service weapons in response, striking McDaniel. McDaniel was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officers recovered a MAC-10 submachine gun with a 30-round extended magazine at the scene.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Marion County, Florida — On June 17, 2024, While on patrol, Deputy Qubaisy saw a car speeding with an inoperable brake light and a suspected window tint violation. The car attempted to lose Deputy Qubaisy and quickly stopped in front of a Family Dollar store in Silver Springs Shores where the passenger, 16-year-old fled inside the store. When Deputy Qubaisy found him, there was a struggle over a rifle that Turner had hidden under his shirt. The teenager, who is accused of resisting arrest before eventually being detained, was adamant in telling the deputy the gun didn't belong to him. There's also a backpack that was reportedly found in the car, which had weed inside it alongside individually-packed baggies. In a post-Miranda interview with deputies, the teenager said the backpack belongs to him, but the gun doesn't. His cousin told deputies that the backpack belonged to the 16-year-old. The teen faces several charges in the incident including possession of a firearm by a delinquent felon, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than 20 grams, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on an officer and resisting without violence. He was booked into the Marion County jail with no bond.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Los Angeles, California — On May 19, 2024, around 6:40 p.m., Southeast Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call in the 100 block of West Colden Avenue, for a report of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon suspect. The individual, later identified as 42-year-old Wilver Blanco, was reported to be armed with a knife in the roadway, possibly under the influence of narcotics and chasing an elderly male at the location. When the officers arrived to the area of the call, they found Blanco standing behind a vehicle parked on the street holding a knife in his right hand. The officers stopped their vehicle, deployed behind their respective doors and ordered Blanco multiple times to drop his knife. Blanco ignored the officers’ commands and climbed onto the rear bumper of the parked vehicle. While still gripping the knife in his right hand, Blanco then stepped off the bumper, assumed a crouched position and ran toward the passenger officer, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting. Blanco was struck by gunfire and was taken into custody without further incident. Officers rendered medical aid to Blanco until the arrival of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, who after assuming care, transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. Notifications to the next of kin were conducted by representatives from the Family Liaison Section. No officers or other community members were injured during this incident. An 8 ½ inch folding knife with a 3 ½ inch blade was recovered at scene.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Vancouver, Washington, USA — On June 8, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Vancouver Police were dispatched to the 100 block of SE Columbia Way regarding a male, later identified as 43-year-old Vadim Sashchenko, who had an aggressive German Shepard that was reported to be running loose and had bitten at least one person. Sashchenko was also described as having a firearm. At approximately, 2:59 p.m., two Vancouver Police Officers locate Sashchenko and his dog in the area of Columbia Street/Columbia Way. One officer approached from the north; the other officer approached from the south. As Sashchenko walked northbound on the sidewalk across from one of the arriving officer's patrol vehicle, he displayed what appeared to be a gun and pointed it at the officer. The officer discharged his gun, striking Sashchenko. As the officers approached Sashchenko to provide medical aid, the dog was behaving aggressively and trying to bite them. The officers used a foam baton round to get the dog to move away before trying to provide medical aid to Sashchenko. Sashchenko died at the scene. The dog was later transported to the Humane Society. No law enforcement officers or bystanders were physically injured.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Ogle County, Illinois — On June 12, 2024, at 8:39 a.m., Ogle County law enforcement responded to a 911 call from a residence in the 400 block of Wild Rice Lane. A family member reported that 32-year-old Jonathon Gounaris had threatened them and himself. The situation quickly escalated, prompting the deployment of the SWAT team and hostage negotiators at 9:18 a.m. Despite repeated attempts to communicate with Gounaris, there was no response from within the house. By 11:51 a.m., authorities made the decision to enter the home. Immediately upon entering the house, deputies received fire. Officers returned fire, incapacitating Gounaris. The suspect was found heavily armed with multiple firearms, a fixed-blade knife, pepper spray, and ballistic armor. During the exchange, several law enforcement personnel were injured. Tactical Medic Tyler Carls of the Rochelle Fire Department was struck twice in his body armor. Sergeant Tad Dominski of the City of Oregon Police sustained a gunshot wound to his upper arm, while Lieutenant Jason Ketter of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office was shot in the face. Carls and Dominski were transported to KSB Hospital, where they were treated and released the same day. Ketter was airlifted to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, underwent surgery on Wednesday, and was released on Friday. Gounaris, who was shot in the stomach, also underwent surgery and is now in custody. He faces a total of 12 criminal charges, including 4 counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, three counts of aggravated battery, and two counts of possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID). If convicted, he could face up to 80 years in prison. Gounaris is scheduled to appear in court on June 20.

A King County shop owner calls to report an alleged robbery that had occurred while he was cleaning up a spill. Deputies in Fresno County utilize the help of the K-9 Unit to fish out an elusive suspect who had taken refuge in a plant nursery. A Fresno Deputy is flagged down by a group of people, they inform him that a near fatal altercation arose after a man’s dog was accidentally hit. The suspect and gun that was brandished are located nearby. A call concerning a vehicle fire on the side of a remote Fresno County highway is investigated. A Fresno County deputy struggles to apprehend a naked, knife-wielding man, the suspect is ultimately arrested, and it’s revealed by a relative that he’s a heavy drug user. We follow a drug enforcement team as they are airlifted to a vast and remote marijuana grow operation, the operation is valued in the millions. A Fresno County K-9 Unit sniffs out two drug related incidents resulting in two arrests.

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Anderson, Indiana — On June 1, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Department deputies were trying to serve an arrest warrant to 44-year-old Lataurus Harrison, at the request of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Harrison was wanted for violating his home detention and several terms of his probation related to his 2023 conviction for strangulation, domestic battery, and sexual battery. His home detention stemmed from a plea deal in March 2023 that dismissed prior convictions from 2021, including multiple counts of rape, attempted rape, criminal confinement, and other charges. As part of this deal, Harrison was sentenced to one year of probation and 180 days of home detention. Deputies located Harrison sitting in his parked car outside a residence in the 1600 block of Fairview Street in Anderson. They surrounded his vehicle and issued 18 verbal commands for him to show his hands and keep them visible. Harrison complied sporadically but continued talking on his cellphone, reaching for his pocket, and making other suspicious movements inside the car. When officers tried to open the car, they found it locked and issued eight more commands for Harrison to unlock the vehicle or exit it. Deputies planned to forcibly enter the vehicle and instructed Deputy Brizendine to keep watch on Harrison. As Harrison reached for his pocket again, Brizendine shouted, "He’s reaching for his pocket! Get out of your pocket!" Due to the angle of Brizendine’s bodycam, the moment Harrison reached for his pocket was not captured, but a black handgun was seen in several frames as Harrison pointed it at the deputies. When Harrison raised his firearm towards the officers, Brizendine fired his weapon 10 times, hitting Harrison with seven rounds. Following the shooting, deputies immediately called for emergency services. Despite their life-saving efforts, Harrison was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. An autopsy revealed that Harrison died from multiple gunshot wounds, including one directly to the heart. No other individuals were injured during the incident. A search of Harrison’s vehicle revealed a semi-automatic handgun on the front seat. Investigations into how Harrison, a serious violent felon, obtained the handgun are ongoing.
