Dr. James Lindsay & Helen Pluckrose | 'Cynical Theories'
Dr. James Lindsay and Helen Pluckrose first came to international prominence for their role in the 2018 'Grievance Studies Affair', where they and a colleague sought to expose corruption in academic “grievance studies,” by submitting bogus papers to reputable academic journals, some of which were published, and many of which were seriously considered.
In this interview, John, James and Helen discuss the danger posed by the postmodernist movement to liberal freedoms, the rise of 'wokeness', identity politics and cultural Marxism.
James Lindsay is an American author, mathematician and political commentator, holding degrees in physics and a PhD in mathematics from the University of Tennessee. He is the author of six books covering a wide range of topics, including postmodernism, the philosophy of science and religion.
Helen Pluckrose is a British academic and author. She writes extensively on cultural and political matters, and serves as the editor-in-chief of Aero magazine.
In 2020, Lindsay and Pluckrose released the highly-acclaimed book 'Cynical Theories', which tracks the evolution of postmodernist ideas from the fringes of the academy to the front page of Twitter.

John Howard | The Contemporary Political Landscape
John and former Prime Minister of Australia John Howard reflect on their time in public office together and examine the challenges facing Australia today. John Howard served as the 25th Prime Minister of Australia, in office from 1996 to 2007. Only Sir Robert Menzies has served in the position longer.
Howard’s achievements as Prime Minister included the establishment of tougher gun laws, the introduction of a nationwide goods and services tax, immigration reform, and industrial relations reform. Under his leadership, Australia contributed troops to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and led the International Force for East Timor. He also committed $1 billion in aid following the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.
His government returned ten out of twelve budget surpluses; unprecedented in the post war period.

Dr. Jordan Peterson | Individual Responsibility
John Anderson talks to international phenomenon Dr Jordan B Peterson in a follow-up discussion from their first conversation in March 2018 in Sydney.
Since then interest in Dr Peterson's work and public lectures has increased even further and we are delighted to share this follow up discussion recorded via webcam.
Dr Jordan B Peterson is Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto, clinical psychologist, public speaker and best-selling author. More than 250,000 people have attended Peterson's lectures, in more than 100 cities in North America, Europe and Australia since his 12 Rules for Life book tour began in January 2018.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
00:52 Introducing Jordan Peterson
1:51 - Youth are hungry for content.
4:16 - Current media can manipulate, which is why these types of low-budget conversations are so crucial and valued.
5:46 - Jordan’s audience appreciate the truth and harsh reality, are quite young, often university students, and understand his message.
10:07 - Good news may be found amid the bad. The youth are tired of the therapy culture.
12:50 - The dividing line between good and evil is somewhere across every human heart. This can be recognised by the individual in making a better society, not by the individual expecting society to fix their problems.
17:30 - The battle between statism/collectivism vs individual liberty.
20:17 - Current culture rejects nobleism and patriotism among young people who want to be loyal to their country.
23:35 - The importance of fathering.
26:58 - Empirical evidence in relation to the importance of fathering. Postmodernism and cultural marxism are tied together, however they are not the same.
29:13 -
33:07 - Loathing of Western beliefs and values and of learning our own history.
35:28 - Academics are prioritising their integrity diversity, rather than on giving youth adequate education.
36:47 - Knowledge, accumulated cleverness and wisdom are not the same.

Peter Hitchens | COVID-19 Lockdown
Peter Hitchens is one of the few public figures who is prepared to raise a dissenting voice in order to question the wisdom and validity of the extreme actions democratic governments are taking around the world to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Even if you disagree with him, we should nevertheless be grateful that we still (for now) live in a society where he is at relative liberty to raise that voice.
