Matt Taibbi | The Plight and Polarisation of Mainstream Media
John talks to distinguished American journalist and author Matt Taibbi about the current, perilous state of the media. Taibbi details the politicisation and polarisation of mainstream news media over the past 20 years. He unpacks what he believes to be the contributing factors to this descent, yet shines hope on the future of journalism, arguing that trust can and must be restored between the media and the public. Only after this will journalism be able to recover its important role as a pillar of healthy democracies.
Formerly a professional athlete and private investigator, Matt Taibbi has a formidable journalistic record. He has worked as a freelance reporter in the Soviet Union, a sports reporter for The Moscow Times, and, more recently, as a contributing editor for Rolling Stone Magazine.

Please note that this conversation was recorded in 2019 before the COVID-19 crisis.
Konstantin Kisin is a Russian-British comedian, podcaster, writer and social
commentator. He made international headlines in 2018 by refusing to sign a
university “behavioural agreement form” which banned jokes about religion,
atheism and insisted that all humour must be “respectful and kind.”
He is also the creator and co-host of the TRIGGERnometry YouTube show.
He and John have much to discuss, including the attacks on free speech we see throughout the Western democracies today.

Peter Hitchens | COVID-19 Lockdown
Peter Hitchens is one of the few public figures who is prepared to raise a dissenting voice in order to question the wisdom and validity of the extreme actions democratic governments are taking around the world to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Even if you disagree with him, we should nevertheless be grateful that we still (for now) live in a society where he is at relative liberty to raise that voice.

Dr. James Lindsay & Helen Pluckrose | 'Cynical Theories'
Dr. James Lindsay and Helen Pluckrose first came to international prominence for their role in the 2018 'Grievance Studies Affair', where they and a colleague sought to expose corruption in academic “grievance studies,” by submitting bogus papers to reputable academic journals, some of which were published, and many of which were seriously considered.
In this interview, John, James and Helen discuss the danger posed by the postmodernist movement to liberal freedoms, the rise of 'wokeness', identity politics and cultural Marxism.
James Lindsay is an American author, mathematician and political commentator, holding degrees in physics and a PhD in mathematics from the University of Tennessee. He is the author of six books covering a wide range of topics, including postmodernism, the philosophy of science and religion.
Helen Pluckrose is a British academic and author. She writes extensively on cultural and political matters, and serves as the editor-in-chief of Aero magazine.
In 2020, Lindsay and Pluckrose released the highly-acclaimed book 'Cynical Theories', which tracks the evolution of postmodernist ideas from the fringes of the academy to the front page of Twitter.
