The Bellagio Botanical Garden in Las Vegas goes wild for the animal kingdom, with 28 sculptures of animals and almost 10,000 plants and flowers. The centerpiece is 'King of the Jungle', a lion standing over 20 feet tall with his nine-foot-tall cub atop a giant gold frame. The lion, made from grass seeds, cut oat, wheat and barley seeds, wears a gilded crown adorned with the iconic Bellagio “B” above a mane made of 2,500 preserved pampas grass plumes. The games took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and were televised nationally in the United States. Pure Las Vegas: 3-term Mayor Carolyn Goodman's grand entrance into a downtown construction ceremony
Legendary Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, in the last few months of her third and final term, arrives at a lucky poker chip presentation in the Oscar B. Goodman Plaza (her husband of 62 years) at Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St., with strains of Elvis Presley and glamorous Las Vegas showgirls. Her chip, featuring photos of former Mayor Oscar Goodman and her on flip sides, will become a permanent part of the new Civic Plaza development, as it will be included in the final concrete pour scheduled for the early morning hours on April 4, 2024. Mayor Goodman was joined by City Manager Mike Janssen, city officials and the showgirls to celebrate this construction milestone. No wonder she loves the job!
Civic Plaza is a new development that will include new city offices, restaurants and a large plaza for gatherings and events in the heart of downtown. The project encompasses an entire city block bordered by Main Street, Clark Avenue, First Street and Bonneville Avenue. It will also include an iconic piece of public art in the outdoor plaza. Civic Plaza is designed by LGA Architecture, and CORE Construction is the contractor. The project is expected to be completed in 2025. 4/3/2024.
