Fire & Blood Vol. 1 | A Surfeit of Rulers (Chapter 7)
After his secret marriage, Jaehaerys remained on Dragonstone, silently training and waiting to come of age with his queen. Alyssa and Roger both hoped to end the marriage before it was consummated and made public, so Alyssa devised to send Alyssane a group of servants, septas, and ladies, who would hopefully teach her and Jaehaerys that incest was immoral. Roger installed a spy and seducer within the group, Coryanne Wylde, a teenage girl who would later go on to write a book about her wild days before becoming a septa. In the book, Coryanne says that a man (either Rogar or his brother, the texts differ) sent for her, inspected her body, and bid her to seduce the king and report back to him. Meanwhile, on Fair Isle, Rhaena had married Androw.

Fire & Blood Vol. 1 | A Time of Testing - The Realm Remade (Chapter 8)
Jaehaerys returned to King’s Landing as a true king on his dragon. Straight away, he set to work with his council, allowing some of his mother’s choices to remain in place, but getting rid of others. When he had thoroughly cleaned out the castle, emptying the cells of prisoners his uncle had wrongly imprisoned, he called Rogar Baratheon to him. Rogar assumed he would be sent to the wall at best, and executed at worse, but Jaehaerys pardoned his treasons and asked him to return to his service under the condition that he act chivalrously toward Alyssa and Alyssane. With tears in his eyes, Rogar agreed. The king then went on to install Rego Draz, a foreigner from Pentos who had become one of the richest men in the world on his own.

Fire & Blood Vol. 1 | Aegon’s Conquest (Chapter 1)
Fire & Blood is a fantasy book by American writer George R. R. Martin and illustrated by Doug Wheatley. Audiobook read by Simon Vance. It tells the history of House Targaryen, the dynasty that ruled the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros in the backstory of his series A Song of Ice and Fire.
Although originally planned for publication after the completion of the series, Martin has revealed his intent to publish the history in two volumes as the material had grown too large. The second half of this first volume (an expanded version of The Princess and the Queen) has been adapted into the HBO series House of the Dragon, a prequel to Game of Thrones. Much material published in Fire & Blood originates from the writing of Martin's 2014 book The World of Ice & Fire. The World of Ice & Fire, written from the perspective of Maester Yandel, contains sections from the perspective of Archmaester Gyldayn. These sections were written by Martin on his own; however, he wrote much more than at first intended, and in the end delivered 180,000 words on Targaryen history. The great majority of this covered Aegon's Conquest up to the end of the Regency of Aegon III. Furthermore, Fire & Blood contains an overview of the entire Targaryen succession, and a family tree depicting the Targaryen family until 136 AC.
Rather than a novel, Fire & Blood takes the form of a scholarly treatise about the Targaryen dynasty written by a historian within the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, Archmaester Gyldayn. Gyldayn cites a variety of fictional primary sources for the historical events he describes, whose accounts sometimes conflict with each other, reflecting medieval methods of historiography and thus making Gyldayn an unreliable narrator from the reader's perspective. George R. R. Martin has cited Thomas B. Costain's non-fiction books on the Plantagenet dynasty as an influence for Fire and Blood.
The first volume of Fire & Blood contains the following texts:
- "The Targaryen Conquest": Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Published in more or less same version in The World of Ice & Fire.
- "The Peace of the Dragon": Aegon I's reign after his Conquest. While Aegon I's reign is briefly glossed over in The World of Ice & Fire, no parts of the text have been published before.
- "The Sons of the Dragon": Focuses on the lives of Aegon I's sons, King Aenys I Targaryen and King Maegor I Targaryen, ending with Maegor's death and the ascension of Aenys's son Jaehaerys I Targaryen to the throne.
- "Heirs of the Dragon": It focuses on the reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen and the succession crisis following the deaths of his sons.
. "The Dying of the Dragons": it focuses on the great civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother Aegon II for the throne.
- "Aftermath — The Boy King and His Regents": Covering the first few years of the reign of Rhaenyra's young son Aegon III, when the realm was ruled by Aegon's regents.

E12. Covering "The Return of the King"": Book 5 - Chapters 10; Book 6 - Chapter 2-3-4-5-6.
Frodo and Sam travel with the Orc company at an excruciating pace. Frodo is in agony from the Ring’s increasing weight. After a time, they reach a busy crossroads. Armies from the south were moving in anticipation of Aragorn’s army. In the confusion of the converging companies, Frodo and Sam jump aside and crawl behind a nearby boulder.
While Aragorn and the forces of Gondor are away, the city of Gondor remains shrouded in fear. Faramir meet Lady Éowyn in the Houses of Healing. Éowyn longs for the chance to fight with the Riders of Rohan against Mordor. Her sadness, mixed with pride and beauty, lead Faramir to fall in love with her.
The army, with Gandalf, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and Pippin (but not Merry) marches to the black gate. The Mouth of Sauron comes out to discuss terms, and presents tokens which were owned by Frodo; he then departs and the army of Mordor attacks them. Frodo and Sam reach Mount Doom. Gollum takes the ring from Frodo and falls into the mountain's fire. Captains of the west are victorious; Frodo and Sam are rescued by Gandalf; all the company meets again in Ithilien. A great throng of people awaited the Hobbits. At their emergence, the crowd burst into thunderous applause, singing songs in praise of the Hobbits.
The citizens of Minas Tirith break out in song. Messengers soon arriv telling of Aragorn’s victory. The conflict resolved, Éowyn’s longing for war fades, and she and Faramir agreed to wed. When Aragorn returns, Faramir rides out of the gate of Minas Tirith and offeres him the keys of the city and an ancient crown. Aragorn calls for the Ring-bearer and Gandalf. Frodo hands the crown to Gandalf, who places it upon Aragorn’s brow.
The day before Midsummer, a group of Elves approaches Minas Tirith. Celeborn and Galadriel, Elrohir and Elladan, and all the Elf princes arrived in the city. Behind them, mightiest of all, is Elrond with his daughter, Arwen. On the day of Midsummer, Aragorn (now called King Aragorn II) and Arwen are wed. Queen Arwen, seeking to repay Frodo for his immeasurable service and suffering, offers him a gift. When the time came, he may sail in her stead across the Great Sea to the unknown West, where the Elves dwelt in eternal youth and joy.
The company rides north to Rohan and bade farewell to Éomer, honouring the memory of Théoden. After a brief stay in Rohan, they set off again.

Frodo suddenly demands that Sam hand over the Ring, calling Sam a thief. Grabbing the Ring, Frodo apologized to Sam. Frodo and Sam outfitt themselves in Orc gear and climbed down the ladder. With the phial of Galadriel, the two hobbits move past the Watchers and out into Mordor. Suddenly, the terrifying cry of a Black Rider rent the sky above them.
Minas Tirith is attacked by an immense army. Denethor goes mad and tries to burn Faramir alive; he is saved by Gandalf; Denethor then sets fire to himself. They discover that Denethor has been using a palantir. The Riders of Rohan arrive to break the siege; Aragorn and an army of Gondor arrive by ship.
Merry, Faramir, Éowyn and many others are injured and placed in the houses of healing; Aragorn uses kingsfoil to help treat the injured. Sam and Frodo make their way into Mordor; they are captured by an orc company.
Aragorn holds a meeting of the lords in his tent outside the city. Gandalf tells the assembled captains that Mordor had not yet unleashed the greater part of its army. Though Minas Tirith had fought back the first assault, the next would be much stronger. In addition, the Ring of Power was now somewhere within the borders of Mordor. Should Sauron seize it, all hope would be lost. Gandalf suggested an assault on the Black Gate of Mordor, reasoning that it is impossible to defeat Mordor without destroying the Ring, and that the Eye of Sauron must be diverted from the Ring-bearer as long as possible. The Captains agree to this plan and they decide to send 7000 men against Mordor to march on the Black Gate.

Denethor upbraid Faramir for showing cowardice in defending the outposts. The Steward bitterly remarked that Boromir, his other son, would have brought him a "mighty gift"—meaning the Ring. Gandalf pointed out that Boromir would have kept the "gift" for himself. The two men argued, and Pippin again sensed the strain between them. Denethor opposed sending the Ring with a Hobbit into the hands of Sauron, believing that he himself should have been given the Ring for safekeeping. The gathering dispersed. Pippin asked Gandalf why, as Faramir had indicated, Frodo and Sam were traveling with Gollum. Gandalf feared Gollum’s treachery, but noted that perhaps some good may yet come of Gollum’s actions. The next morning, Denethor sents Faramir to protect the outlying ruins of Osgiliath, where Mordor's armies were likely to strike first. Faramir dutifully accepts the perilous—possibly suicidal—assignment from his father.
Frodo, Sam and Gollum witness an army leaving Minas Morgul. Frodo and Sam try to cross the pass of Cirith Ungol into Mordor, but are attacked by the giant spider Shelob. Frodo is stung and trussed up like a fly. Frodo is taken by the orcs. Sam listens to the orcs talking about him, which is how he finds out that he is still alive, having thought that Frodo had been killed by Shelob.
Gandalf rode off toward Osgiliath to help fight the Black Captain. The Wizard returned the next day, leading many wounded men. Faramir remained at Pelennor, trying to hold his men together to execute a safe retreat. Minas Tirith is besieged by the forces of Mordor.
Sam goes to find Frodo in the orc tower.

The Lord of the Rings - Radio Drama | The Shadow of the Past (Episode 1)
In 1981 BBC Radio 4 broadcast a dramatisation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings in 26 half-hour stereo instalments. It followed a previous 12-part BBC Radio version from 1955 and 1956, of which no recordings are known to have survived. The Lord of the Rings was dramatised for radio by Sibley and Michael Bakewell. The music was composed by Stephen Oliver. Radiophonic sound was provided by Elizabeth Parker. The series was produced and directed by Jane Morgan and Penny Leicester.
Each of the original 26 episodes received two broadcasts per week - standard practice for many BBC radio serials even today. The 26-part series was subsequently edited into 13 hour-long episodes, restoring some dialogue originally cut for timing (since each hour-long episode is actually around 57 minutes, as opposed to 54 minutes for two half-hour episodes), rearranging some scenes for dramatic impact and adding linking narration and music cues. It was broadcast in 13 episodes in 1982, restoring some dialogue originally cut for timing. The author's son and editor Christopher Tolkien reviewed and approved the final scripts for each episode. He recorded an audio cassette of correct pronunciations for Middle-earth words and names to assist the cast during recordings.
The script attempts to be as faithful as possible to the original novel with many sections of dialogue lifted directly from the source material, such as the conversations between Frodo, Sam and Faramir in The Window on the West. The script also includes an arc where Wormtongue is waylaid by the Ringwraiths, as narrated in Unfinished Tales, a newly-published volume at that time. In the final episode, Bilbo's Last Song, a Tolkien poem which does not appear in the novel, is used to flesh out the sequence at the Grey Havens. However, there are some errors and alterations. For more details check out Tolkien Gateway:

A soundtrack album featuring a completely re-recorded and in some cases expanded, suite of Stephen Oliver's music was released in 1981.
