DIY Downdraft Table for Grinding Dust Collection - Part 2 - without a CNC
More on my quest to improve metal dust collection and chip collection in my shop
It occurred to me I should probably share a little more about how I did this in my home shop without all the fancy tools. This is my first sheet metal project and building the backsplash, floor and zero clearance drawer was probably a little bit ambitious, but I'm pretty happy with the results given my level of experience and the servicability. I posted this video talk about some of the why and how and some of the struggles along the way.

DIY Downdraft Table for Grinding Dust Collection - Part 1
I'm still experimenting with different strategies for dust collection in my shop and this is the latest. I had some footage of the start of the downdraft table project I've been meaning to post up for awhile. If you don't know what this is, I took inspiration from Justin over at The Fabrication Series on YouTube, I just don't have CNC Plasma or CNC anything to cut out my panels for me and I modified his design a little. I'm hoping this will keep the grinding dust down in my shop and make it easier to deal with a smaller amount in the future. This is the first video on my DIY downdraft table.

Final video turning my metal cutting saw into a metal cutting track saw with chip collection
I'd call this a win! By the time I reached the end of my first cut I had a lot fewer chips to vacuum up for the same amount of cutting as I had during the project.

Using a mag drill and a sidequest to finish my sheet metal bender
Drilling big holes with the mag drill! In order to clear off the side of my fixturing table to accommodate my chip collecting saw track project I needed to finish out the mounting system for my sheet metal bender so I can actually call it done.
