As a longtime fan of Downton Abbey, I am watching Julian Fellowes newest series, The Gilded Age, for the first time. In the series premier of The Gilded Age, title Never the New, we are introduced to the families of East 61st Street, the Russells and the Van Rhijns, as well as the many staff that make up their households. We get a glimpse of the workings of New York society in the late 1800s and how our characters navigate it.
