HOW TO DEVELOP A SUCCESS MINDSET [EPISODE 141]
Do you want to be successful? In spite of all of the toxicity all around us, if we want to be successful, we have to take control of our own minds. In this episode I will talk about how to have a success mindset.
I mentioned a training in this episode. You can find it here:

HOW OUR BRAINS ARE WIRED FOR POLITICAL HATRED [EPISODE 140]
As I record, we are in the middle of Trump’s second impeachment trial. As the nation listens to the arguments, partisans agree with half of what is being said, and the viscerally object to the other half. Why? Why are we so politically divided? Why does politics divide us. It has to do with brain wiring and our environment.
In this episode I discuss an article from Rene Levy, a researcher at the University of Washington who spend much of his career studying the emotion of hate.

NOTABLE QUOTABLES: W. CLEMENT STONE [EPISODE 138]
In this episode, I review a number of quotes by W. Clement Stone. Stone was an incredibly successful businessman, and a disciple of Napoleon Hill. His advice on success is useful to this day.
Here are the quotes I will review. I unpack them in this episode:
“All personal achievement starts in the mind of the individual. Your personal achievement starts in your mind. The first step is to know exactly what your problem, goal or desire is.”
When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.”
“Instead of believing the world is plotting to do you harm, choose to believe the world is plotting to do you good. Instead of seeing every difficult challenging event as a negative, see it for what it could be – something that is meant to enrich you, empower you, or advance your causes.”
“To be happy, make other people happy."
“There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”
“There is more to success than reading self-help books and extracting the philosophy contained in them, and that is action. The true value of a self-help book is not what the writer puts into the book, but what you, the reader, take out of the book and put into your life.”
“Keep your mind on your objective, and persist until you succeed. Study, think and plan.”
“So, you’ve got a problem? That’s good! Why? Because repeated victories over your problems are the rungs on your ladder of success. With each victory, you grow in wisdom, stature and experience. You become a better, bigger, more successful person each time you meet a problem and tackle and conquer it with a positive mental attitude.”
“To solve a problem or to reach a goal, you don’t need to know all the answers in advance. But you must have a clear idea of the problem or the goal you want to reach.”
“You are a product of your environment. So choose the environment that will best develop you toward your objective. Analyze your life in terms of its environment. Are the things around you helping you toward success – or are they holding you back?”
“Be careful the environment you choose for it will shape you; be careful the friends you choose for you will become like them.”
“The reason so few people are successful is no one has yet found a way for someone to sit down and slide uphill.”
“Regardless of who you are or what you have been, you can be what you want to be.”
“You always do what you want to do. This is true with every act. You may say that you had to do something, or that you were forced to, but actually, whatever you do, you do by choice. Only you have the power to choose for yourself.”
"Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity."
“Sometimes the things that seem to be adversities turn out to be opportunities in disguise.”
“Effort and work can become fun when you establish specific desirable goals.”
"No matter how carefully you plan your goals they will never be more that pipe dreams unless you pursue them with gusto."
"Tell everyone what you want to do and someone will want to help you do it."
“Try, try, try, and keep on trying is the rule that must be followed to become an expert in anything.”
“You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying.”
“Success is achieved and maintained by those who try, and keep trying, for there is nothing to lose by trying and a great deal to gain if successful. By all means TRY! Do it NOW!!!”
“Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.”
“It takes less work to succeed than to fail.”
“Do it now.”

HISTORICAL EXAMPLES OF POLITICAL NAME-CALLING [EPISODE 136]
In recent episodes, I have been talking about the rancor in our politics. I talked about respectful debate and how you should conduct yourself.
It seems that the country is being ripped apart and political discourse is not helping. In this episode, I want to take a step back and gain the perspective of history to analyze the problem. You will be surprised by what you hear.

HOW TO ACHIEVE UNITY [EPISODE 135]
HOW TO ACHIEVE UNITY [EPISODE 135]
Unity? What is it? How do we gain unity? President Biden made a call for unity at the inauguration. He said, “
“We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal. We can do this if we open our souls instead of hardening our hearts — if we show a little tolerance and humility, and if we're willing to stand in the other person's shoes.”
But the politicians who talk the most about unity are often the worst role models—and it seems the more zealous their followers, the more damage that they tend to do.
However, there is one group of people who can teach us a great deal about how to unify. These people actively build bridges instead of call names. I will talk about them and draw lessons from their activities that can help us gain the unity we seek.

WHAT DOES THE BOOK OF PROVERBS SAY ABOUT DISAGREEING RESPECTFULLY? [EPISODE 134]
What do the Proverbs say about how to disagree respectfully? How to disagree without being disagreeable. When I dialogue with others and I wise, a fool, a mocker, or simple?
In this episode, I unpack over 100 verses from the book of proverbs that speak directly to how we should disagree with others. It was quite convicting.
This is a follow-up to last week’s episode. Last week I discussed an article from Psychology Today on how to disagree respectfully.

HOW TO DISAGREE RESPECTFULLY [EPISODE 133]
It seems that the world is unhinged. Half of the country seems to be living in a parallel universe (and they think the same thing about your half). It is easy to disagree, and it feels like it is becoming easier to be disagreeable. How do you disagree respectfully? How do you disagree productively? How do you disagree politely? How do you disagree without being disagreeable? How do you seek common ground?
In this episode I will discuss all of that. Much of it is mindset and the actions that flow from your mindset. I will draw heavily on an absolutely fantastic article from Psychology Today by Melody Stanford Martin:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THE CAPITOL RIOT? TO TRUMP? TO CONSERVATIVES? TO AMERICA? [EPISODE 131]
Last Wednesday the world watched in disbelief as Trump supporters, perhaps mixed with agitators, desecrated the Capitol Building. The new media has flashed these images relentlessly. The Left is outraged, but the Right is too. There is near-universal condemnation for what happened.
In the wake of these events, Pelosi and Schumer are calling on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment. They are formulating new articles of impeachment. Twitter cut off the leader of the free world—FOR LIFE.
In this episode, I will do my best to unpack these events and analyze them through the lens of leadership. I will do my best to see through both sides, and I will give you my analysis of what happened, what is happening right now, and what is likely to happen in the future.

I review the best quotes of one particular leader and I unpack the very best of what that leader has to say (99% lean beef; 1% fat).
In this episode, I review the leadership quotes of Dwight Eisenhower—Supreme Allied Commander in World War II and 34th President of the United States.
I have deep respect for Eisenhower and we will try to understand him more by examining a number of his more famous quotes. You don’t want to miss this episode.
