Performing "Pride" from the album "Sin" at the studio. This is the most dissonant song on the album, and the album overall is the heaviest I wrote so far, dealing with feelings of anger, guilt, pride and exploring the subject of original sin. I would have added lyrics subtitles to the video, but I've no idea myself what I am singing there - the lyrics are still improvised, as I continue writing this song. I went to see a sunrise at the beach and was inspired to start composing a new song. As I watched the sun rise, I knew that the song would be in B major, and so when I came back home I started playing around with some chords within this key. I wrote this song "We Never Learn" back in April, inspired by my drummer Danny breaking his leg while skateboarding. As I was revisiting it, I realized how difficult the main riff really is. I also realized that I did not record it in correct meter - the original was recorded in 3/4, but after some more practice I found out that it fits much better into 4/4 with triplet feel. In this video I am practicing the main riff, while making numerous errors. One thing you've gotta realize is that even after 20 years of practice, you will continue struggling sometimes. Some of your favorite songs by your favorite artists sounded awful when they just came up with the idea.
