Video 13 Match drilling the side panels for the center console & fixing my Dremel. Hello followers and friends and welcome to the KingFox channel. My name is Matt Koeniguer and I’m building a KitFox Model 7 STi. In the previous episode I surpassed the 100 subscriber mark which I would say I thought might happen a little faster but perhaps as I get better & put together some better content I’ll grow a little faster. In this short video I’m going to be working on the side panels (match drilling) then a light sanding on the floorboards for the cockpit. No epoxy varnish which probably won’t hurt your feelings nor mine. I managed to break my Dremel tool a few episodes back so I thought I would attempt to order some parts & see if I could actually fix it. I did. That made me happy, I’m happy when I am able to repair something in the garage & not just have to buy another replacement so I thought I’d document that also in the even others have had a similar issue. Good day friends & followers, while taking a vacation which started on a Friday we stopped for the evening at an Airbnb to spend the night near Fort Morgan, CO. I was doing a bit of editing that night getting a video ready to go for the following Monday. While loading the car the following day I placed the iPad on the roof of the car for whatever reason, I then forgot about it & we headed SW to Denver for some breakfast. I drove gingerly enough that the iPad stayed on the roof until we accelerated onto the interstate where at some point the iPad then went airborne departing the roof of the car. It then sat there for the next three hours as we headed to Denver for breakfast. It wasn’t until I returned to the car where I peeked into the backseat & noticed the absence of my iPad. I panicked & we headed back to the Fort Morgan area to begin our search. I was lucky to find it & it appeared to have a smidge of life remaining. In this video I’m drilling out the previously installed adjustable rudder pedal handle brackets on the center console & reinstalling them for the 2nd time… this may not be the last time! I am also putting together for the first time the other two handles for the adjustable rudder pedals, much similar in construction to the flap handle. Unfortunately I didn’t capture all of it on video but as I’ve said before I will attempt to do much better as I progress. Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoy what I have finally put out!

In this video I am connecting the Control Column to the Bellcrank by installing the Pivot-to-Bellcrank connector which will then connect directly to the Aileron Bellcrank. I also begin to work on the Flap handle and that’s when things sour a bit. I encounter a problem while drilling a 1/16” hole (which may not have been necessary) through the detent pin. This is where I end up stopping due to the breakage of a drill bit inside the detent pin! I broke a few bits in this video and I learned to use much less pressure while utilizing the longer (6”-12”) aviation drill bits. Welcome back viewers! In this episode I am working on putting together & installing the flap handle in the fuselage. I run across a few setbacks during the assembly but in the end I overcome all of them & get the job done albeit with a few less drill bits. I broke a bit off inside the detent pin, tried some super-cooling overnight in the deep freeze to pop it out in the morning but that didn’t work. I try to drill out the existing bit with another, that didn’t work. Then I drilled perpendicular to it & through the lodged bit… that didn’t work either. I ended up having to use the cheapest replacement bit I purchased that morning to drill yet another hole through the detent pin which was successful. Got’r done in the end. In this awesome video (which is no longer set for Kids & you can now comment) you will get to watch how we take the horizontal tail stock blocks included with the kit, measure, cut & install them, then cover them with the Hysol epoxy to give them their finished “relatively” smooth appearance which provides a nice rounded base in which we will cover later on with the fabric which will essentially be the skin of the aircraft. They don’t necessarily look smooth however I think with a little sanding in the future after they set up I can give them a smoother and refined finish. Thanks for stopping by.

Delivery of the kit! After waiting 22 months, it is finally here. In this episode, I take delivery, conduct inventory behind the scenes and get things ready for when I will begin to build starting in the summer of 2021. I hope this video will answer any questions you may have about what is involved in a kit delivery and how easy and how fun it can be. I hope you like this video.

In this video, I begin with the horizontal stabilizer. Wooden rib, layout, cutting, sanding, fitting, rib, stiffeners, then installing the ribs. Cutting and sanding down the end caps, (still awaiting install) then pressing in the bearings into the elevator hinges, sanding, the bushings to fit into the bushing, (ongoing process).
