Episode 7 - Can Structural Engineering help us understand trees? Absolutely.
Trees are living things, but they also respond to the forces of physics: Gravity, loading, movement, and transfer of energy. That may sound nerdy (and it is) but it also helps explain the forces at work, as well as understanding how what we do affects their health and safety.

Episode 5 - Why you need to understand why trees do what they do.
To the untrained eye, a crack, split, cavity, or hollow is often followed by a sense of panic. To the unscrupulous dude with a truck and a chainsaw, you are his next meal. The more you know, the better you can determine if you're being scammed.

Episode 6 - Roots. Almost all you've heard is wrong.
The internet. Once a bad or wrong idea gets posted, it can spread the world over, often to the detriment of Nature, and us as well. The truth needs to destroy myths. And here's a big one.

Episode 4 - Eeek! There's something on my tree!
My theory is that people love Nature until Nature starts behaving like Nature. Understanding Nature is important so we can stop doing unnecessary things to it. Chill, and enjoy.

Episode 3 - A key to health and longevity. Yours, not the tree's.
Being out amongst trees and Nature is good for you. Literally. It affects your body, your brain, your health, your attention span, your immune system, your concentration, your lifespan, and much more.
Staring at your screen(s) is doing the exact opposite.

Nature grows things differently than you or your landscaper.
The black hole of ignorance - the internet - is full of wrong ideas and practices as it relates to trees and Nature. Trees grow according to a genetic blueprint that you and I cannot change. If we don't learn that, the trees in our neighborhoods will continue to be at risk.
Most of what we do to our landscape trees is scientifically and biologically wrong. Compare what you see on this, and other of my videos, and you'll realize just how wrong. We can do better.

Are "leaning" trees safe?
Understanding how and why trees do what they do is crucial to the future of our forests and "urban forest" (trees around people). Most tree companies know little to nothing about the science of trees. That may sound outrageous - and it might tick of some tree "professionals", but it's what I find everywhere I travel.
The more you understand the processes that influence tree growth, the safer our trees will be. From us...

What is happening to my tree?
Nature is amazing, and often confusing. Is something harmful or not? Well, what you don't want to do is let an uneducated tree person try to pass themselves off as an actual tree expert. We put our trees at risk when we do.
You wouldn't go to an undertaker to have a cough diagnosed, would you? Arborists deal with living trees. They generally don't kill them. Find an Arborist for your tree issues.

An introduction is in order.
These videos are raw, off-the-cuff, and unedited, so you may be as surprised as I am...
Being up close and personal to Nature for more than 2 decades has taught me a few things. Sometimes painfully.
My goal is to teach anyone who wants to know the truth about Nature, and what science and research can tell us as well. For the benefit of you and the Nature that surrounds you.
