During a recent road trip, we got to see the state much of British Columbia’s forest is in, first hand. There are very few large trees and many of those remaining are already dead. Canada claims to be a leader when it comes to forest preservation. But what is the reality? Can you preserve natural forest areas, while letting for profit corporations “manage” forests with methods that include clear cutting and spraying with glyphosate? We also got to experience an ancient forest that is still intact, within West Twin Provincial Park. The Canadian government claims that all is well with forest preservation. Edmonton is a dynamic city that’s constantly transforming. But they're a re a few things that have withstood the test of time and they’re set to stay around Both the Alberta Legislature and the Highlevel Bridge are well over 100 years old. Back in the early 20th century, streetcars were frequenting the bridge, but they disappeared in the late 1940’s. Then in 1997 street car service across the Highlevel Bridge resumed during the summer months. It was made possible by the volunteers of the Edmonton Radial Railway Society, who restored the streetcars and brought them back to life.
