Our economy is holding its own rather well. Needless to say, I don’t believe the government’s reports on record breaking arrivals; however, things seem to be holding their own rather nicely. Remember, not will I be affected but rather to what degree will I be affected. That’s the important question to be asking. I encourage my listeners for all those with the means to do so to consider reallocating a good part of their portfolio into a well-researched foreign country and PARK IT! That’s right, just park it. History has 100’s of examples of currencies being replaced. It’s one of the most affective ways of flushing out and forcing people to expose what they have. The other and equally important part is whenever a new currency is issued there’s always an exchange rate involved. History proves there’s always been an exchange ratio of some sort, 1.5 - 1.75 to one but it’s always penalizing the holder. Those holding only cash suffer, those with tangibles exchange at the value of the tangible. There is no 1.5 or 1.75 to one. If you doubt study your history. When I scouted the B&Bs on the Internet I was actually kind of excited. Some of them looked really nice and since living here over the past decade and a half, I have covered a major portion of most areas of the DR. I was anticipating finding something new for not only myself but my subscribers. I must admit, I was quite disappointed to find out all these places were behind razor wire security walls averaging ten feet in height. In fact, every seaside villa was behind similar security, and you know what that means. Still, I drove around and after covering most major roads I determined this was not the place for me. I didn’t see any restaurants or places of interest that would entice me to hang around for the night, so it was time to move on. Since I was facing a six plus hour journey, I grabbed some chicken to go and began heading towards Sabana Larga. From there I began climbing to some hi altitude through the clouds overland roads and was heading towards Constanza. Wild how the temps went from near 100 to mid-40’s in under four hours’ time. I received a blog from one of my most respected sources mentioning that for the third time how China is testing its new Government Digital Currency. Over the past weekend seems that the capitol city of Beijing distributed approximately 1.5 million worth of their central bank’s digital currency to 50,000 applicants. Each applicant chosen is to receive 200 Yuan (approx. 30.00 USD) of this digital currency and can spend it at several designated businesses during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. In the past few months the cities of Shenzhen and Suzhou were chosen to hold comparable trials thus making at least three tests on the nation’s new digital currency. Several other nation-states are advancing similar tests using their own digital currencies. Other nations have decided to take a more aggressive approach. Canada being one of them as from the first of the year Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outright cancelled the Canadian currency as being the country’s Legal Tender! It’s a bold first step in deed. Whatever you choose as investments is your choice. Just understand what is currently taking place right in front of everyone’s eyes. We’re all facing new challenges we’re seeing developments that as of a year prior would have been dismissed as lunacy or at the very least labeled conspiracy theories. No sooner than we passed the prior important intersection which was the transfer of political power in the West do we rapidly approach the next important set of intersections and the ending of paper currencies certainly ranks as one of them. We’re all experiencing new happenings. For most of us it’s the first time anything even close to these kinds of challenges have occurred… nothing like this has ever happened before! It’s a bit lengthy but there were so many different roads I took to end up at the lake and they all had some exceptional scenes. Even though the camera can never match being there I’m sure those viewing the video can imagen the scope of some of these views. Once at the lake I just had enough time to do a quick pan of the shoreline and venture to the tip of the lake. From there I had to begin heading back to perhaps the best area of the entire country. The area that surrounds Cabrera, the place we call home. So, there you have it, in three days I went from a scorching desert to almost 8000 feet above sea level. Temperatures went from 102 degrees to the low 40’s. The scenery changed from ocean to lake country and from cactus to northern pine. What was cactus and palms were now evergreen and northern pine. Amazing diversity is what awaits those willing to explore. Glad I was only about an hour or so away from my evening lodging. Many folks have experienced the goat in this country. It’s delicious, however there’s a few areas where shortly after weening they eat mostly organic oregano. The flavor is drawn into the meat. From most locals they seem to feel that it’s the best way you can enjoy it. Local goat is one of the few dishes that offers two versions of the same meat. In many restaurants you’ll actually have a choice when ordering if you want it spicy or not. Traditionally Dominican culture shy’s away from spicy foods, of course that changes for those who’ve traveled or worked in other countries. They say that time flies when you’re having fun. I don’t know if that’s always true but nevertheless time does fly in certain circumstances. I can’t believe by the time this video is up it will exceed a month since my last video was aired. While there are several reasons for the time delay the biggest of them all was when Liane fractured her wrist. That meant she would be in a cast for six weeks. Six weeks she’d wrestle with her normal chores. If anyone knows Liane they know she’s always doing something. This fractured wrist surly put the brakes on any forward progress in a lot of areas. Our YouTube channels were just a few of them. Adding to the reasons is the fact we’ve been really busy and have almost sold out of our Montana y Mar phase two project in just four months’ time! Never before in Cabrera’s history has this been done! So showing around clients took up a big part of my time which is another of the many reasons. It was April and that’s tax time even if you’re a Canadian with a dual citizenship and since Liane does our recordkeeping was another time taker. Another happy but time consuming event is we decided to build what we hope will be our final home. Of course that means regular visits and inspections. So my time over the past two months wasn’t really mine at all. I just wanted to get the wheels turning again by doing a short get back in the driver’s seat type video. I honestly missed being linked with so many open minded higher frequencies that I just wanted to say it’s good to be back. I headed towards Jarabacoa and decided to check-in at the hotel. Whenever I’m in the area Liane and I really like staying at Hotel Gran Jimenoa. It’s a lovely place and they serve an excellent breakfast. I dropped off my belongings and relaxed while recharging some video batteries. I scouted the map and found an old secondary road called Paso Alto. With that kind of name, I knew it’s my cup of tea so off I went. Was a great hour and a half route right up until I found a locked gate at the end of the journey. I met a local living not too far from the gate and was hoping he’d be able to contact the person who might be able to unlock it. Got Lucky and ten minutes later it was opened for me.
