The book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrews believers and professing believers in Christ who through persecution had doubts which caused them to either turn back to Judaism or contemplate turning back to Judaism. The author of Hebrews the Holy Spirit [through Paul] wrote the Book Hebrews for believers and professing believers throughout the centuries, the theme throughout scripture warns believers and professing believers. Believers are warned to work out our salvation.
[Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV] 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for [His] good pleasure.].
Professing and/or non-believers are warned not to live in unbelief or not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit throughout scripture!!!
To put our text in context we will go back to Hebrews 3:7.
[Hebrews 3:7-13 NKJV] 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in [their] heart, And they have not known My ways.' 11 So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' " 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
The question is what was the problem with the 10 spies and the children of Israel from the ages of 20 years and above!!!
[Numbers 14:11 NKJV] 11 Then the LORD said to Moses: "How long will these people reject Me? [Naas = Naw ats] is the Hebrew word for reject or provoke; to spurn [reject with disdain] , contemn, despise, abhor
And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?
Aman- the Hebrew word for Believe; to stand firm, to trust, to be certain, to believe in
[Exodus 13:21-22 NKJV] 21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night [from] before the people.
Exodus shows us that the LORD was with the children of Israel continually, pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night, as well as the Angel of the LORD, but they still didn’t believe!!! Explain
Believers and professing believers are warned throughout scripture. The Old Testament warns us, Jesus warns us, Paul warns us, the Holy Spirit warns us throughout scripture!!!

I believe once saved only saved. No one can remove you from God’s hand, nor can you jump out of God’s hand. Give example of Belief!!!

Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little (while) lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
While it's true that Jesus, while here on Earth, was self-limited in His power according to the will of the Father so that He could live a life of obedience and righteousness in the same manner that we can, which is by the power of the Holy Spirit in faith, and was therefore a "little lower than the angels", He was still the commander of the hosts (armies) of heaven that met Joshua outside Jericho in Joshua Chapter 5;
Jos 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are You for us or for our adversaries?"
Jos 5:14 So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"
Jos 5:15 Then the Commander of the LORD's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so.
The Angel of the Lord (Pre-incarnate Jesus Christ), the Commander of the Lord's armies, demanded Joshua worship Him.

In Hebrews 2:9, we are reminded that although Jesus, during His earthly life, was made a little lower than the angels in terms of His self-limitation in power, He remained the Commander of the heavenly armies. This is evident from the account in Joshua 5, where the Commander of the Lord's army appeared to Joshua and received worship. Additionally, Jesus Himself spoke about His relationship with the angels in various passages, emphasizing His authority and their role in His work.
It was necessary for Jesus to be temporarily lower than the angels so that He could experience suffering and death on our behalf. This allowed Him to fulfill His role as our Savior. Jesus had to be capable of death, something God and angels cannot experience. This highlights the uniqueness of Jesus' incarnation and His mission to save humanity.
Hebrews 2:10 further emphasizes the appropriateness of this arrangement. Jesus, through His suffering and obedience, was made complete in His role as our Savior and High Priest. While Jesus was perfect in His deity and equality with God, He needed to experience obedience, faith, and suffering in order to fulfill His role as our Savior.

The author draw us to Psalm 8

Psalm 8 is as much a prophecy as a statement of fact. When we read God’s word as a whole, we know that God is outside of time, and before He perfectly created Adam and Eve, He knew they would fall.
The author draws us to Genesis 1 giving dominion over the world.

God gives all dominion to man!!! We know the rest of the story; in Genesis 3, Adam disobeys God and eats the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Turning over the dominion of the earth to Satan, the god [ little g] of this age/the prince of the power of the air.
How is Psalm 8 prophetic? It is prophetic because God planned the means of our redemption and reconciliation to Him before He created the world and us.
[Revelation 13:8 NKJV] 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

In verses 5 through 7, the author brings us back to Hebrews chapter one, demonstrating Christ's superiority, dominance, and preeminence over the angels.

[1 Corinthians 15:20-28 NKJV] 20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, [and] has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man [came] death, by Man also [came] the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those [who are] Christ's at His coming. 24 Then [comes] the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy [that] will be destroyed [is] death. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." Our victory is in Christ!!!
[1 Corinthians 15:50-58 NKJV] 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55 "O Death, where [is] your sting? O Hades, where [is] your victory?" 56 The sting of death [is] sin, and the strength of sin [is] the law. 57 But thanks [be] to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Christ's Supremacy and His role as the Redeemer of Humanity - Hebrews 2
In Hebrews 2:5-10, the author continues to emphasize the superiority of Jesus over the angels and delves into the significance of Christ's suffering and redemption:
[Hebrews 2:5-7 NKJV] 5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. 6 But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? 7 You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands.
Here, the author references Psalm 8, highlighting the fact that God has crowned humanity with glory and honor, giving them dominion over the works of His hands. However, the full realization of this dominion has not yet been seen.
The author draws a connection between Psalm 8 and Genesis 1, where God gave humanity dominion over the earth. Yet, due to Adam's disobedience, dominion was handed over to Satan. This demonstrates that Psalm 8 is prophetic because it foreshadows God's plan of redemption through Jesus.
[Hebrews 2:9 NKJV] 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
This verse emphasizes that Jesus, though initially made lower than the angels, was crowned with glory and honor through His suffering and death. His sacrifice was for the purpose of providing salvation for all.
[Hebrews 2:10 NKJV] 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom [are] all things and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Here, the author explains that it was fitting for Jesus, the source and sustainer of all things, to undergo suffering in order to bring many to glory. Through His suffering, Jesus became the captain of our salvation and perfected the path to salvation.
These verses underscore the central theme of Christ's supremacy and His role as the redeemer of humanity. Through His suffering and sacrifice, Jesus fulfills the prophetic elements found in Psalm 8 and Genesis 1, bringing about the ultimate victory and redemption for believers. God Bears Witness to Himself Through the Gifts
Hebrews Chapter 2 part 2
Prayer.
Last week we studied God establishing/authenticating Jesus as the Son of God by drawing us back to chapter 1:1-3. Clearly scripture authenticates that Jesus is God in the old and new testaments.
In chapter 2 verses 1 thru 3 gave us an sincere and sober warning to heed the voice of the Son of God, lest we drift away.
[Hebrews 2:1-3 NKJV] 1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. [We clarified that for a born again believer doesn’t mean the loss of salvation, but it does mean loss of rewards. We weaken the Church of Jesus the Christ. Drifting away causes the Church to forgo and/or abandon Holy living, which causes our light to go out or grow dim, and our salt to lose its saltiness, its ability to preserve and become like the culture of the world!!! Satan doesn’t close Churches, he steals them and makes the church in the image of the world, in his perverse image!!!] 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, [the Greek word is KYRIOS it means Master the one who has control and having authority!!!] The title is given to: God, the Messiah and was confirmed to us by those who heard [Him],
In other words if the things the angels repeated from God were unwavering and resulted in consequences for disobedience how much more from the mouth of the Creator of all things!!!
Let’s look again at who Jesus is.
[Genesis 1:1 NKJV] 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
[John 1:1-5 NKJV] 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
[Isaiah 40:10-31 NKJV] 10 Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong [hand], And His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward [is] with Him, And His work before Him. 11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd [Deuteronomy 8:3]; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry [them] in His bosom, [And] gently lead those who are with young.
Continuing in Hebrews 2:4
[Hebrews 2:4 NKJV] 4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
We will see that Jesus doesn’t leave us powerless to speak, to preach, to witness, to testify and to spread the Gospel of the Kingdom of God the Father and the Son of God Christ Jesus. Jesus doesn’t leave us gift-less. We have seen the gifts of the Spirit at work in our congregation. We have seen people healed from cancer, tumors, pancreatitis, etc. One day we will all receive the Ultimate healing of a resurrected body.
[John 14:15-18 NKJV] 15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
I don’t want us to miss the point. That God gives these gifts to confirm and authenticate the Gospel of God.
[Mark 16:19-20 NKJV] 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with [them] and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
Let us look at some of these Holy Spirit signs and wonders done through Jesus and done by the Apostles through the power of God!!!
[Acts 2:14-39 NKJV] 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 "For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is [only] the third hour of the day. 16 "But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. 21 And it shall come to pass [That] whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.' 22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know-- 23 "Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 "whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 "For David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. 27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.' Yes, the faith which [comes] through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. 17 "Yet now, brethren, I know that you did [it] in ignorance, as [did] also your rulers. 18 "But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 "and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 "whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 'And it shall be [that] every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.' 24 "Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. 25 "You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' 26 "To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one [of you] from your iniquities."
Now let’s look at signs and wonders done by God the Father and God the Son.
[Matthew 3:13-17 NKJV] 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John [tried to] prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?" 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit [it to be so] now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice [came] from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
[Matthew 17:5 NKJV] 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"
[John 2:1-8 NKJV] 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." 4 Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." 5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do [it]." 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, "Draw [some] out now, and take [it] to the master of the feast." And they took [it].
[John 9:1-41 NKJV] 1 Now as [Jesus] passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" 3 Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; [the] night is coming when no one can work. 5 "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." 6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. 8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, "Is not this he who sat and begged?" 9 Some said, "This is he." Others [said], "He is like him." He said, "I am [he]." 10 Therefore they said to him, "How were your eyes opened?" 11 He answered and said, "A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.' He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself." 22 His parents said these [things] because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed [that] He [was] Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore his parents said, "He is of age; ask him." 24 So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, "Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner." 25 He answered and said, "Whether He is a sinner [or not] I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see." 26 Then they said to him again, "What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?" 27 He answered them, "I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear [it] again? Do you also want to become His disciples?" 28 Then they reviled him and said, "You are His disciple, but we are Moses' disciples. 29 "We know that God spoke to Moses; [as for] this [fellow], we do not know where He is from." 30 The man answered and said to them, "Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! 31 "Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. 32 "Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 "If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing." 34 They answered and said to him, "You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?" And they cast him out. 35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of God?" 36 He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?" 37 And Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you." 38 Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him. 39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind." 40 Then [some] of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?" 41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.
The gifts of God are explained in these verses.
[1 Corinthians 12:1-11 NKJV] 1 Now concerning spiritual [gifts], brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit [of all]: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another [different] kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in each believer. Dwells in you, dwells in me.
[Romans 8:11 NKJV] 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Introduction to Chapter 2
This chapter, as well as throughout the Book of Hebrews, is the revelation from God concerning Jesus that God’s theme is repeated throughout the chapters of a book concerning the supremacy of Christ, the sufficiency of Christ Jesus for salvation, faith, hardening of the heart (becoming Dull of Hearing) and spirituality immaturity being carried away by popular opinion and fear of persecution for their faith in Christ Jesus, instead of holding fast to the word of God. This chapter 2 starts with the warning and exhortation regarding neglecting our salvation, using the disobedience of Hebrews as an example. Who ended up wandering the desert for 40 years because of their lack of faith and unbelief. Until they die in the desert, unable to enter God’s rest in the land of promise!!!

The question is why is the author warning us to give more earnest heed. In other words more serious and zealous attention to the word to the Gospel. The author first establishes who God is claiming the Son of God is by drawing us back to chapter 1 with “Therefore” giving us the reason to why we must earnestly obey.

Scripture clearly establishes who Jesus is in the old and new testaments as God. Remember in Exodus 3, Moses tending to the sheep, when he sees the burning bush. When the Angel of the LORD appears in a burning bush.
Moses not only heard God’s voice; he saw God the pre-incarnate Christ.

The importance of this statement is that Jesus was invoking and claiming to be Yehova/ Yahweh and the Jewish leaders understood that was claiming to be God!!!
There are seven other times Jesus uses the I AM
1st, [John 6:35 NKJV] 35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
2nd, John 8:12 I am the light of the world, 3rd, John 10:7 I am the door of the sheep, 4th, John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep., 5th, [John 11:25-26 NKJV] 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?", 6th, [John 14:6 NKJV] 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. & 7th, [John 15:1 NKJV] 1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
After Paul draws us back to see who Jesus is [God], he warns us not to drift away and to heed the word of God/Jesus. First establishing the word of Christ is the word of God.
What is meant by drifting away?
For Christian/Believers it doesn’t mean losing our salvation. It will probably cause a loss of rewards. It causes new believers to remain immature and mature believers to fall into spiritual sluggishness. Then being carried away by the worldly culture, Philosophy and popular opinion.

Jesus called us the Church to be salt and light!!! I am afraid that the “Church” in America has drifted away. The “Church” has become more interested in filling the set, rather than fulfilling the great commission.
Being Salt and Light does not mean the Church stand by when;
Prayer out of schools, no fault divorce, abortion, same sex-marriage, Etc. Most importantly salt and light does not stand by when the word of God is taken out of the Church!!!
[Amos 8:11 NKJV] 11 "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord GOD, "That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the LORD.

Paul is describing the event that took place in the wilderness when God instructed Moses to send out twelve spies to search out the land of Canaan Number 13. This is the LORD’s response.
[Number 14:11-12 NKJV] 11 Then the LORD said to Moses: "How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them? 12 "I will strike them with pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make you a nation greater and mightier than they."
I believe some who die in the wilderness will not be in heaven, because they never believed in God. Explain
I also believe there are some in the so-called “Church” who profess to believe, but don’t believe because the word is not being preached.
We are called to work out our salvation from the inside out.

God Bears Witness to Himself Through the Gifts
In chapter 2 verses 1 thru 3 gave us an sincere and sober warning to heed the voice of the Son of God, lest we drift away.
[Hebrews 2:1-3 NKJV] 1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. [We clarified that for a born again believer doesn’t mean the loss of salvation, but it does mean loss of rewards. We weaken the Church of Jesus the Christ. Drifting away causes the Church to forgo and/or abandon Holy living, which causes our light to go out or grow dim, and our salt to lose its saltiness, its ability to preserve and become like the culture of the world!!! Satan doesn’t close Churches, he steals them and makes the church in the image of the world, in his perverse image!!!] 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, [the Greek word is KYRIOS it means Master the one who has control and having authority!!!] The title is given to: God, the Messiah and was confirmed to us by those who heard [Him].
In other words if the things the angels repeated from God were unwavering and resulted in consequences for disobedience how much more from the mouth of the Creator of all things!!!
Let’s look again at who Jesus is.
[Genesis 1:1 NKJV] 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Now let’s look at signs and wonders done by God the Father and God the Son.
[Matthew 3:13-17 NKJV] "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in each believer. Dwells in you, dwells in me.
[Romans 8:11 NKJV] 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Hebrews: Jesus is the 'I Am"
Introduction to Chapter 2
This chapter, as well as throughout the Book of Hebrews, is the revelation from God concerning Jesus that God’s theme is repeated throughout the chapters of a book concerning the supremacy of Christ, the sufficiency of Christ Jesus for salvation, faith, hardening of the heart (becoming Dull of Hearing) and spirituality immaturity being carried away by popular opinion and fear of persecution for their faith in Christ Jesus, instead of holding fast to the word of God. This chapter 2 starts with the warning and exhortation regarding neglecting our salvation, using the disobedience of Hebrews as an example. Who ended up wandering the desert for 40 years because of their lack of faith and unbelief. Until they die in the desert, unable to enter God’s rest in the land of promise!!!

The question is why is the author warning us to give more earnest heed. In other words more serious and zealous attention to the word to the Gospel. The author first establishes who God is claiming the Son of God is by drawing us back to chapter 1 with “Therefore” giving us the reason to why we must earnestly obey.

2 Angels destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah while The Angel of the Lord delivered Lot and his family in Genesis 19.
One Angel destroyed 185,000 Assyrians in one evening in 2 Kings 19:35.
One Angel destroyed the firstborn of Egypt, both man and beast at the Passover in Exodus 12.
One angel killed 75,000 in one day when David numbered the people in direct defiance of God's commandment in 2Sam 24.
They excel in strength: Psalms 103:17-22
The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.
Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.

In Joshua 5 Joshua sees the Angel of the Lord and runs to him, asking Him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"
Jos 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are You for us or for our adversaries?"
Jos 5:14 So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"

He is the Commander of Heaven's armies, and demands to be worshiped.
In Numbers 22:23 Balaam's donkey SAW the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with a drawn sword.

Dan 3:20 And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
Dan 3:22 Therefore, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

Dan 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.
The Angel of the Lord is Jesus Christ in pre-incarnate form appearing to man. John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
The Angel of the Lord stands in stark contrast to the other angels in the OT, because He is God the Son!
He is the messenger of the OT covenant, AND the New Covenant (Malachi 3:1)
Angels in General:
They are God's Ministers- Psalms 104:4, Heb 1:14
Heaven is their home- Matthew 24:36
Mat 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
They are Holy- Matthew 25:31, Mark 8:38, Luke 9:26, Rev 14:10
They are messengers- Daniel 8:16, 9:21, Luke 1:19, 26
They serve around God's Throne, Rev 5:11 (and are innumerable!)
They are CREATED! Isaiah 14:12 and they don't die!
In short, the Jewish student, raised on the Scriptures, saw Angels as the pinnacle and most powerful and awesome of God's creation, and with just cause!

Hebrews the "New Testament Leviticus"
Continuing Hebrews..
As we discussed in our introduction, the author of Hebrews is a Hebrew of Hebrews and is speaking primarily to Christian Jews, who were educated in Judaism, bathed in Old Testament Scripture, and particularly Levitical, writings, the ordinances, the rituals, and the requirements of the Law, the Temple, the Priesthood, and the sacrifices.
They were not new, but had been in the faith long enough to be mature (Chapter 5:11-12)
Heb 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
and had suffered immense persecution (Chapter 10:32-33)
Heb 10:32 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings:
Heb 10:33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated;
Hebrews is considered the "New Testament Leviticus" and for good reason.
This book uniquely unfolds Christ's Royal Priesthood, and contrasts His office to that of the Aaronic priesthood, and sets forth the superiority of Christ's ministry above all things.
Seven Major Ideas of the Book
1) It advocates that the Jewish reader leave the shadows (similitudes) behind and exchange them for the substance.
2) The writer argues that the things which make up Judaism were instituted as a foreshadowing of things to come. They were just shadows of things to come, and that which they were foreshadowing has now come. So exchange the shadows for the substance.
3) It suggests exchanging the types, or models, that were prefigured, for the reality, now that the reality is here.
4) It suggests an exchange of the good things of Judaism for the better things of Christ. It constantly makes that kind of idea, and the word “better” is one of the key words throughout the book. It is not disparaging the past; it is building upon it, or superseding it in a sense.
5) It suggests the incompleteness of the Law versus the perfection of the New Covenant.
6) It exchanges the cardinal ordinances that had a temporary purpose with eternal, spiritual truths that had a complete revelation. It contrasts the earthly sanctuary and temporary passing ceremonies with abiding realities that are eternal.
7) It contrasts the conditional promises of the past with the unconditional promises of the New Covenant.
Although primarily written to Jewish believers (Hebrews) it is applicable to ALL believers! (He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches...)

What we didn't discuss, is that the first 3 verses give a sweeping summary of the entire book!
Heb 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
Heb 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Last week we discussed how this book is full of comparisons. The first comparison is the comparison of the prophets to His Son.
The prophets all ministered in part, as the Lord gave them utterance. None of them were self-sufficient. None knew the entire counsel of God. All were sinful men, keenly aware of their need for salvation.
1 Peter 1:10-12 confirms that the prophets did not write from a position of complete understanding, but from Divine inspiration.
The prophets were fragmented, each getting a part, but not the whole, and were empowered by the Holy Spirit intermittantly!
By comparison, the Son came complete!
He did not prophesy in part, He spoke from a position of complete understanding.
The Spirit was not with Him intermittantly, or partially, but completely and fully!
He did not come to discuss bits and pieces of God's Word- HE IS GOD'S WORD!
The prophets gave bits of information which all pointed to one singularity: THE GLORIOUS PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST.

Another distinctive of Hebrews is that it quotes a tremendous amount of Scripture. It's not alone in that, but what makes it unique is that all quoted Scripture is credited to God, and not whichever writer He chose to put pen to paper.
In so many NT places the Spirit says things like "to fulfill the work spoken by the prophet...." but not in Hebrews.
That should get our attention!
Different books have different emphases;
Matthew portrays Jesus as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Messiah of Israel.
Mark portrays Jesus as the Suffering Servant who would die for the sins of mankind.
Luke portrays Jesus as the Son of Man, the substitutionary sacrifice.
John portrays Jesus as the Son of God, perfect in all His ways, timeless, sinless, The King of Kings and Lord of Lords who will judge the living and the dead.
Matthew- The Grand Entrance!
Mark- The Great Work.
Luke- The Last Adam!
John- The Eternal King!
What makes Hebrews unique?
Leviticus is the Holy of Holies of the OT.
Hebrews is the Leviticus of the NT, making it the Holy of Holies of the New Covenant. Nothing contained in the New Covenant is man-made, man-performed, man-directed, or man supervised!
Jesus is shown here in the singular role that He, and ONLY He occupies- The Propitiation for our sin.

Jesus said to Phillip “If you have seen me you have seen the Father". Jesus is not a copy or an imitator of the Father, He is the express essence of the Father.
Nor does He simply reflect the glory of God the Father- HE IS glory itself from before time began!

Jesus IS God, and as such, His glory is eternal. We'll build on this a bit when we get to verse 4 and beyond...

Date of writing: 67-69 A.D.
Timothy had been released from prison (13:23) but temple worship was still going on (see 5:1-4) so it was before 70 A.D. when the temple was destroyed by Titus Vespesian.
Focus group:
Hebrews! Jews.
3 distinct groups of Jews are going to be addressed in this book.
1) Those who had believed in Jesus as Lord and Savior- Saved Jews.
2) Those who had acknowledged the Gospel intellectually, but not embraced the doctrine of Salvation by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ. They knew with the head, but had not made the commitment to Him in faith. (returned to the old ways of The Law)
3) Those who had heard about the Gospel, were interested, but had made no commitment yet.
Understanding Hebrews requires a working understanding of the Levitical Priesthood. We'll be doing some OT research into this along the way.
Much time is spent in this Epistle comparing the Old Covenant with the New, and there are some dramatic differences!

We'll also see a great deal of discussion about angels.
Relevant to the historical background, the Jewish believers were coming under a great deal of persecution from the Jewish community and many of them had begun to distance themselves from the deity of Jesus to avoid this persecution.
The Jewish community in Qumran had even begun teaching the superiority of Angels over Jesus, going so far as to say that Michael was superior to Messiah.
It's quite possible this aberrant teaching is in mind as the writer sets forth, in GREAT detail, the superiority of Jesus over EVERY created thing.
Speaking of the author, he is not identified.
There has been much controversy over the years as to who the writer was. Paul, Apollos, and Luke are the primary candidates, but no one can say for certain.
"Author Unknown" is not an accident...
Content is the key issue.

The rest perished in the flood.

Today we'll wrap up this series "What in the World is going on".
We began by discussing how it is we (as Christians) are to view world events, which includes everything we can see, hear, touch, measure, etc.;
Which is through the lens of Scripture.
2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
2Pe 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
2Pe 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
We are engaged in a battle that has been raging since the Garden of Eden;

The choice was clear then, and it's just as clear now!

John 12:44 Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me.

John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
John 12:47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
John 12:48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
John 12:49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
John 12:50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
The choice was, is, and always be this:
Do we CHOOSE to come into the light that our hearts and deeds are made manifest in HIS light, or do we hide ourselves from HIS presence when He comes to visit in the cool of the evening?
Adam began in the light. He had to CHOOSE to step into darkness through disbelief.
We, however, begin in the darkness and must choose to step into the light.
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
Everything that we have been discussing is simply varying means and methods of hiding from God, covering ourselves with fig leaves, hoping to not be called out of the shadows and into the light.

Are just new methods of hiding from God and avoiding critical Biblical truths:

Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Everyone, male, female, great and small, rich or poor, will be called to give an account to their maker.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
God created mankind in His image, after His likeness, male and female He created them.
Jesus quoted this in Matthew 19:4 in His discussion of divorce.
To say otherwise is to be a "gender denier".
We will be called to account on this: "Did God really say?"
Speaking of this, JESUS had a Biblical Worldview!
In all His teachings He referred to the divine authority of the Old Testament (Mt. 5:17-18; 8:17; 12:40-42; Lk. 4:18-21; 10:25-28; 15:29-31; 17:32; 24:25-45; Jn. 5:39-47). He quoted the Old Testament 78 times, the Pentateuch alone 26 times. He quoted from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, and Malachi. He referred to the Old Testament as “The Scriptures,” “the word of God,” and “the wisdom of God.”
The world knows that the time is short, and is aggressively fighting to KEEP our eyes on ourselves and NOT on Christ!
The world wants to avoid personal accountability to their creator at all costs!

Col_1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Blame is even placed on Bilderbergers, Illuminati, The Elders, so on and so forth, but even that is a distraction. These groups exist, but the power behind their actions is not their own, it's satanic.
Eph_6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
To have a Biblical worldview we must understand clearly that Jesus meant what He said in

How do we not become distracted by smoke screens and diversions?

We are not to be "triggered".
We are not to be deceived.
We are not to be afraid.
We ARE to live by faith!
Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."
We must not grow weary in doing good!
Gal 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Gal 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
We ARE to be encouraged!

Even John the Baptist needed encouragement!

Nearly 200 different political parties have run in Israeli elections since 1948. The majority of these parties lasted very few years and most are no longer in existence. At least 110 parties have won representation in government throughout Israel's history. There are presently 55 political parties, not all have won seats on the Knesset.
The largest party is the Likud. The Likud party has formed a coalition with other parties who have 64 seat majority.

Nationally Israel is as divided as the United States, mainly left [Liberalism] vs right [Conservatism].

We know that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit never changes

The fact that God and Jesus never change is what concerns me about heresy of Replacement Theology.
Can teachers of Replacement Theology be a believer?
Can mis-lead followers of these teachers of Replacement Theology be saved or are they saved?

Most Americans spend little time thinking about central bank digital currencies, if they even know what they are. For those who don’t, CBDCs are digital forms of national currencies, issued by a country’s central bank. The United States Federal Reserve has no plans to issue a digital dollar. Yet, potential presidential candidates in next year’s U.S. election are already sounding an alarm.
“Expect this CBDC issue to become a presidential campaign talking point,” said Ron Hammond, director of government relations at Blockchain Association. “Perfect intersection of fear of government, China and finance collapse with the bank crisis.”
Indeed, a number of potential presidential candidates have recently taken a strong stance against CBDCs. Opponents paint a future digital dollar as a government attempt to monitor and even control citizen transactions. A CBDC could theoretically be designed so it could be used for certain items but not others. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a likely Republican contender, suggested that the U.S. government could use a CBDC to restrict purchases of gas or prevent you from buying too many rifles.
DeSantis went as far as to propose legislation to ban the use of CBDCs in Florida. “The Biden administration’s efforts to inject a Centralized Bank Digital Currency is about surveillance and control,” DeSantis said in the press release. Just this week, the bill passed the Florida legislature. Then, on Wednesday, North Carolina's House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill banning digital dollar payments to the state.
Other well-known Republican politicians have voiced their skepticism of CBDCs, while stopping short of proposing an outright ban. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, for example, introduced legislation to prohibit the Federal Reserve from unilaterally creating a direct-to-consumer CBDC. The bill was co-sponsored by Sens. Mayflower Compact
Rough seas and storms prevented the Mayflower from reaching its intended destination in the area of the Hudson River, and the ship was steered instead toward Cape Cod. Because of the change of course, the passengers were no longer within the jurisdiction of the charter granted to them in England by the Virginia Company. Within this legally uncertain situation, friction arose between the English Separatists (the Pilgrims) and the rest of the travelers, with some of the latter threatening to leave the group and settle on their own.
To quell the conflict and preserve unity, Pilgrim leaders (among them William Bradford and William Brewster) drafted the Mayflower Compact before going ashore. The brief document (about 200 words) bound its signers into a body politic for the purpose of forming a government and pledged them to abide by any laws and regulations that would later be established “for the general good of the colony.” The compact was signed by nearly all of the Mayflower’s adult male passengers (41 of a total of 102 passengers) while the ship was anchored at Provincetown harbor. Its authority was immediately exercised when John Carver, who had helped organize the expedition, was chosen as governor of the new colony.
In the name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign lord King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc.

This was the basis for the operating government of the first colony in the United States.

We also discussed how God has a schedule associated with His plan for redemption and restoration.
This is one area where the enemy has no competing skill or authority: He can only react and respond to God's schedule as God orchestrates and brings His will to pass.
We discussed that Israel is God's focal point in His timetable of historic events, past, present, and future.

Here's the thing: Jesus said "You ARE salt" and "You ARE light"! He didn't say "Become salt and light" or "If you work real hard you might get to be salt and light"; No, He said you ARE salt and light!
What makes us salt and light? "Christ in you, the hope of glory".

What in the World is Going On? Section III, Part III
Jerry Mongello continues sharing about Israel's place in God's plan and where they fit in what is going on today. Ezekiel Wars and Psalm 83 Wars against Israel have yet to be fulfilled.
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON SECTION III, part 23 Honor Father
Last week we covered the pass war of Israel, The Battle for Beersheba 31 Oct. 1917, the War of Independence 1948, October 1956 war to open the Suez Canal, 1967: Six-Day War Arab Israel won back Jerusalem, 1973: Yom Kippur War, 1982: Lebanon War, and Second Lebanon War In July 2006 Hezbollah We discussed future wars named in the Bible Psalm 83 war, Ezekiel 38 & 39 war and the Battle of Armageddon.
We look at a few things that came out in the news; Israel is planning to fight a multiple front war; Israel is surrounded by Iran proxies. Iran unveiled their first hypersonic missile that can reach Israel. The UN voted Iran as vice president of the General Assembly. Not long after leaving a US-led maritime coalition, the UAE appears to be joining a new naval alliance with Iran.
Saudi Arabia announced that they would cut oil production by 10%.
This week there is a lot of news concerning negotiations between the US and Iran to re-new the nuclear agreement. All these news articles in my opinion push for a Psalm 83 war.
Last week we read Ezekiel 36, where God commands the
mountains and the land to prepare for Israel's return. This chapter is also a demonstration of an unchanging God. In the creation account in Genesis 1 & 2 God prepares the earth before placing man in the garden. After preparing mountains and land for Israel's return, God tells Ezekiel to prophecy Israel return.
In this prophecy will see Israel returning to the land in unbelief and finally in belief.
[Ezekiel 37:1-28 NKJV] 1 The hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD [rûaḥ roo'-akh means wind, breath, mind, spirit,] and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it [was] full of bones. 2 Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, [there were] very many in the open valley; and indeed [they were] very dry. 3 And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord GOD, You know." 4 Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5 'Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: "Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 "I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I [am] the LORD." ' [ This I believe referencing Israel's return in 1948] " 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but [there was] no breath in them. 9 Also He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live." " 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. [Israel today has a great army, Israel ranks among 10 most powerful countries in annual list; 4th strongest military] 11 Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, 'Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!' 12 "Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 "Then you shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14 "I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken [it] and performed [it]," says the LORD.'" 15 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 16 "As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: 'For Judah and for the children of Israel, his companions.' Then take another stick and write on it, 'For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and [for] all the house of Israel, his companions.' 17 "Then join them one to another for yourself into one stick, and they will become one in your hand. 18 "And when the children of your people speak to you, saying, 'Will you not show us what you [mean] by these?'-- 19 "say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which [is] in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will join them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand." ' 20 "And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 "Then say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 "and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 "They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. 24 "David My servant [shall be] king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments and observe My statutes, and do them. 25 "Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children's children, forever; and My servant David [shall be] their prince forever. 26 "Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27 "My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28 "The nations also will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.
[Revelation 21:3, 22 NKJV] 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them [and be] their God.... 22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
[Ezekiel 38:1-6 NKJV] 1 Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 "and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I [am] against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. 4 "I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company [with] bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. 5 "Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them [with] shield and helmet; 6 "Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah [from] the far north and all its troops--many people [are] with you.
On the screen we have the counties mentioned above.
Now let's look at the counties in Psalm 83
[Ezekiel 38:7-12 NKJV] 7 "Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them. 8 "After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword [and] gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely. 9 "You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you." 10 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "On that day it shall come to pass [that] thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: 11 "You will say, 'I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates'-- 12 "to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places [that are again] inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.
Note that Israel is living in safety, with unwalled villages or cities. They are no longer surrounded by the Iranian proxies as they are now and in Psalm 83.
The reason for this attack against Israel is different, this time it's economic!!! In the war outlined in Psalm 83 the reason for the attack is to annihilate Israel, wipe them off the face of the earth.
[Psalm 83:2-4 NKJV] 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, "Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.
Remember we brought out Satan's plan to annihilate Israel to prevent the second coming of Christ.
[Ezekiel 38:13-20 NKJV] 13 "Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, 'Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?'" ' 14 "Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know [it]? 15 "Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. 16 "You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes." 17 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Are [you] he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them? 18 "And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel," says
the Lord GOD, "[that] My fury will show in My face. 19 "For in My jealousy [and] in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: 'Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, 20 'so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who [are] on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.'
These passages sound little bit like the battle of Armageddon and the earthquakes mentioned in Zechariah 14 when the sets His feet in the Mount of Olives and it splits, and Revelation 16 the seventh bowl Judgment.
[Revelation 16:16-21 NKJV] 16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon. 17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" 18 And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. 19 Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. 20 Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And great hail from heaven fell upon men, [each hailstone] about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.
When you get to verse 21, it is a different war.
[Ezekiel 38:21-23 NKJV] 21 "I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains," says the Lord GOD. "Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22 "And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who [are] with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 "Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I [am] the LORD."
Note that God turns these armies against themselves and rains down great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; this is not the battle of Armageddon that we read about in Revelation 16 the battle fought in the valley of Megiddo.
[1 Samuel 14:19-23 NKJV] 19 Now it happened, while Saul talked to the priest, that the noise which [was] in the camp of the Philistines continued to increase; so Saul said to the priest, "Withdraw your hand." 20 Then Saul and all the people who [were] with him assembled, and they went to the battle; and indeed every man's sword was against his neighbor, [and there was] very great confusion. 21 Moreover the Hebrews [who] were with the Philistines before that time, who went up with them into the camp [from the] surrounding [country], they also joined the Israelites who [were] with Saul and Jonathan.
Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden in the mountains of Ephraim, [when] they heard that the Philistines fled, they also followed hard after them in the battle. 23 So the LORD saved Israel that day, and the battle shifted to Beth Aven.
In the next Chapter Ezekiel 39 we can clearly see two battles. [Ezekiel 39:1-16 NKJV] 1 "And you, son of man, prophecy against Gog, and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I [am] against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; 2 "and I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3 "Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand. 4 "You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who [are] with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and [to] the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5 "You shall fall on the open field; for I have spoken," says the Lord GOD. 6 "And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I [am] the LORD. 7 "So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not [let them] profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that [I am] the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. 8 "Surely it is coming, and it shall be done," says the Lord GOD. "This [is] the day of which I have spoken. 9 "Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields
and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years. [This not the second coming because when Jesus come back no need to burn weapons] 10 "They will not take wood from the field nor cut down [any] from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them," says the Lord GOD. 11 "It will come to pass in that day [that] I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call [it] the Valley of Hamon Gog. 12 "For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. [After the battle of Armageddon there no burying taken place] 13 "Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified," says the Lord GOD. 14 "They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. 15 "The search party will pass through the land; and [when anyone] sees a man's bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. 16 "[The] name of [the] city [will] also [be] Hamonah. Thus they shall cleanse the land.'
[Ezekiel 39:17-29 NKJV] 17 "And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: "Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, Drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams and lambs, Of goats and bulls, All of them fatlings of Bashan. 19 You shall eat fat till you are full, And drink blood till you are drunk, At My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you. 20 You shall be filled at My table With horses and riders, With mighty men And with all the men of war," says the Lord GOD. 21 "I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. 22 "So the house of Israel shall know that I [am] the LORD their God from that day forward. 23 "The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 "According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them." 1 25 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name-- 26 'after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their [own] land and no one made [them] afraid. 27 'When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, 28 'then they shall know that I [am] the LORD their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. 29 'And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,' says the Lord GOD."
[Revelation 19:11-21 NKJV] 11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes [were] like a flame of fire, and on His head [were] many crowns. 1. Salt and Light:
Mat 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
Mat 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Mat 5:15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
2. Occupy until Jesus comes:
Luk 19:12 Therefore He said: "A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
Luk 19:13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, 'Do business (occupy) till I come.'
3. Be Ambassadors for Christ:
2Co 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2Co 5:18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
2Co 5:19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

4. Fulfill the Great Commission:

Salt both preserves and flavors.
Light obviously illuminates the darkness and shows the hidden dangers that would otherwise be obscured.

Common sense at work here...
If a light is hidden, it doesn't shine into darkness! It doesn't light the house, nor does it shine forth to glorify our Father in heaven!
Here's the thing: Jesus said "You ARE salt" and "You ARE light"! He didn't say "Become salt and light" or "If you work real hard you might get to be salt and light"; No, He said you ARE salt and light!
What makes us salt and light? "Christ in you, the hope of glory".
City on a hill….. Still a city when the lights are off, but the effectiveness is non-existent….
