Testing Wet Tumble With Only Water And SS Pins - VR to ArridExtraDry
Warning - nowadays, we have to inspect to not have SP brass mixed in with our regualr LP brass. This must be done to prevent mishaps with primer detonations on priming procedures. - - ArridExtraDry had a request to test wet tumbling with plain water and SS pins - no Dawn or LemiShine or Vinegar. This test bears doing as if we get good results with plain water and SS pins, this information needs to get out...Let's find out...

Part 3 Playing Hardball With The 45 Auto Revolver On The Outdoor Range

When Linotype Lead Pervaded The Land
ArridExtraDry was asking about lead alloys, and this video was unacceptable to YouTube. So let's post it here on RUMBLE so it won't be lost. Hello to LuckyShotAmmo as well. - - There was a time when Linotype lead was easily available from metal scrap yards as lead alloys were commonly used throughout the printing industry. And Linotype is a valued alloy for our casting - 84% lead, 12% antimony, and 4% tin at BHN 22 it can be used straight up for full magnum loads as well as mixed to give us other alloys we might prefer. RotoMetals still provides Linotype alloy for the world's casters.

NEW The Special World Of The Hollow Base Wadcutter (RUMBLE video)
In the full spectrum of handgun bullets, the hollow based 38 caliber wadcutter is unique. For mild pressure loadings only, target and small game hunting are the only uses. And as long as competition and range shooting are done, these bullets and loads will have their day...There are particular considerations involved with these bullets and the loading of them....

RUMBLE VIDEO - Rim Headspaced Milsurps And Short Ammo Shoulders (not on YouTube)
This video will not be published on YouTube. - - What is it about our milsurp rifles like the British Lee Enfield or Mosin Nagants that use rimmed cartridges? Is the headspacoing on the rim actually any advantage? Do we even have to consider headspace or can we just run our cases through the full length resize dies and be happy? Let's find out...

NEW The Vinegar Connection To Wet Brass Tumbling
Vinegar has been used to clean everything from showers to grills to dishes. For the past dozen years, Lemi Shine has been recommended for our wet brass tumbling with great results. In this video, we'll check out how effective 1 oz of vinegar would be in our Frenkford Arsenal Wet Tumbler instead of the use of a 3/4 teraspoon of Lemi Shine. We are replacing the citric acid in the Lemi Shine with the mild acetic acid in our common vinegar. The 1 oz dilution works well. Neither acid will weaken our brass in the 2 hour tumbling cycles we are talking about...

NEW 2012 Story of a Gun - Mosin Nagant 91/30 (Full Version For RUMBLE and Patreon)
This is the full length version of the shortened video posted on YouTUbe. - - Russia produced roughly 17 million M91/30 Mosin Nagant rifles during its run from 1891 to the present. In the 80s and 90s, there were warehouses full of milsurp Mosin Nagant rifles and surplus ammo in crates located in Russia, China and Eastern Europe. As avenues of revenue, a steady flow of these came into the US to be sold to civilian shooters. There are many Stories Of A Gun involving the Mosin in the US. A few of them made their way to a Big 5 store in the East Bay Area, and they were pounced on by the eager throngs....

NEW Rimfire Lever Guns And Value Accuracy Ammo (full version for RUMBLE and Patreon)
Our very popular and handy 22LR lever guns aren't known for tack driving accuracy - their construction does not allow for that. However, what level of accuracy can they meet - especially with the gamut of available 22LR ammo before us? And how useful is the level of accuracy they can provide? After all, recall that Annie Oakley amazed European royalty with her offhand shooting at 25 yards. So the trick with our 22LR guns is we have to balance 1) accuracy potential of our gun, 2) accuracy potential of our 22LR ammo, 3) cost of any particular 22LR ammo and 4) purpose and use for the system. This is the meaning of value accuracy. For example, if we have an accuracy build 10/22 or a very accurate 22 bolt gun, we won't settle for ammo that gives us flyers or half flyers with every other shot. We simply want one hole 10 shot groups at 50 yards. But for hunting, we might very well be happy with adequate size groups while having flyers every 5th - 8th round. For plinking, anything that functions while rolling tin cans will do. Let's explore all of this in this video (full version for RUMBLE and Patreon)...

Car Paint Damage From Sideswipe Removed
This is a YouTube video published here early as a benefit to our RUMBLE followers. - - It happened on an onramp on the 580 MacArthur Freeway in Oakland at 10:45pm - we were sideswiped by another car coming into our lane out of nowhere. No hesitation, the car sped off in a hit-and-run almost as if the hit was deliberate - perhaps a setup for robbery or carjack in lawless times. When we got back home, the damage was mostly to the paint. We counted ourselves lucky, and then our good friend came over to help reverse the damage almost as if by magic....

NEW - Easy Sizer Die Changing With The RCBS Lube-A-Matic 2
A shortened less detailed version of this is posted on YouTube along with a message that the Hot Lead Zone has a new home on RUMBLE. - - Changing dies would seem to be an easily accomplished task for users of the RCBS Lube-A-Matic 2 Sizer Lubricator for our cast bullets. Turns out that the retaining nut often will not catch the threads or become cross threaded requiring repeated attempts before it finally is replaced. Perhaps others have found this quick and easy method to reattach the retaining nut, but it is reported in this video to provide that information...

NEW - Casting Silhouette Bullets For 50 Yard Offhand Shooting Fun
The needs of metallic silhouette shooters require accurate stabilized bullets at long ranges. 50 yards offhand is long range for many of us who have been neglecting this important discipline. If we can shoot offhand well at 50 yards, then longer ranges are eminently possible. But lots of practice will get us there - and a good cast silhouette bullet will help make all that possible. The fun awaits us...
