Gary BENFIELD Fine Artwork English West Midlands
Born in the English West Midlands, Benfield studied at Stourbridge College of Art and then went on to do further study at Wrexham College of Art. After leaving the academic world, he set up his own studio near London and concentrated on drawing and painting figures. Within a few years, his work was collected throughout Europe and he reputation was firmly established.
An award-winning illustrator, Benfield has a natural talent for depicting things as seen. His work is spontaneous and is reflected by his drawn lines and dashes of color. The figures dissolve in and out of their backgrounds and move across the surfaces of his paintings and graphic works. He paints rapidly and discards most of his paintings and drawings, keeping only those that he feels are perfected in their conception rather than overwork those he feels are not correct. In recent years, his work has begun to be exhibited in galleries in America as well as in Europe.

Edgar DEGAS Fine Art Etchings of La Famille cardinal Paris Opéra
Edgar Degas (1837-1917) was the Impressionist artist known as the observer of modern Paris life. Descended from an aristocratic family, he managed to hide his pedigree when he was behind the curtain at the Paris Opéra, sketching the young, working class ballet rats in the chorus line. As if peering through an imaginary peephole, in the 1870s he began an endless search to convey the movements and positions of dancers placed in unusual angles of vision. His close friend, writer and librettist of Carmen, Ludovic Halévy, documented back stage activity by writing a series of short story episodes gathered into one volume called La Famille Cardinal.
Degas created 33 monotypes to correspond with the adventures of Pauline and Virginie Cardinal and their audacious, controlling parents who kept a close eye on their adolescent girls, fending off the invitations of their lecherous, older admirers. Halévy, however, failed to recognize their greatness and the monotypes remained in Degas' studio until 1928 when Marcel Guérin, David Weill and publisher Auguste Blaizot formed a consortium to purchase the lot at auction. The monotypes were then reduced and reproduced by the photogravure process in 1938. They comprise the illustrations for a valuable limited edition, rare book; only 350 numbered copies exist which rarely surface at auction or in rare book shops.
The etchings are particularly important because many of the monotypes done by the hand of Degas have vanished. The etchings of La Famille Cardinal remain the only documentation of their existence. Jean Sutherland Boggs, Jean Adhémar and Françoise Cachin, Eugenia Parry Janis and John Canaday refer extensively to the etchings in their scholarly research on Degas.

Nicola Simbari, artist, creates stunning semi-abstract impressionist fine art prints and paintings
Nicola Simbari, a renowned artist, specializes in creating stunning fine art prints and paintings. His unique style can be described as a blend of semiabstract and impressionist techniques, resulting in mesmerizing artworks. Explore the captivating world of Nicola Simbari's masterpieces through his exquisite collection of prints and paintings.
Nicola Simbari is considered by many to be Italy 's most important living artist. A painter of semiabstract impressionist works; he is a stunning colorist who favors brilliant tones, richly layered with a palette knife. Like the great impressionists of a century ago, Simbari's paintings are drenched in light and energy, but provide new definition through his intensity of vision and dramatic technique.
Born in Calabria, Italy, Simbari was greatly impacted by the natural setting of his Mediterranean world: the wide sea, intense sky, and vivid flowers. As a young child, he moved with his family to Rome where his father worked as an architect to the Vatican. The City's Renaissance masterpieces and the artistic treasures of the Sistine Chapel so moved Simbari that, before his 13th birthday, he decided to study art and enrolled at the Accademia delle Belle Arti. At 22, he opened his first studio in Rome. Influenced by the sights and sounds of his childhood, Simbari's early works featured gypsies, cafe settings, fishing villages, and rustic scenes of the Italian countryside. The youthful artist knew success almost immediately, and within months of a one-man show in London, he was awarded the coveted commission to paint murals for the Italian Pavilion at the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels . He solidified his place in the art world with his show "Le Cirque," which skillfully reproduced the same excitement on canvas as can be felt at an electrifying circus performance.
The show was highly acclaimed in Paris, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. "When I paint, I'm like a writer," Simbari states, "I must have something to say. My paintings are like entries in a diary because they are all reactions to things I have seen or felt." Simbari holds a pivotal place in today's international art scene.
His works can be found in numerous museums and private and corporate collections the world over, including the Bank of Tokyo, Paris; Christian Dior Collection, Paris; Italian State Railways, Rome; Liberty Company, London; Bank of Commerce, Tulsa; Cincinnati Fine Arts Department, Cincinnati; Exxon Corporation, New York; General Mills Corporation, Minneapolis; PepsiCo, New York; to name just a few. Major American and English critics have called Simbari "thoroughly disarming"; one who paints "boldly and in a state of excitement"; "whose personal enthusiasm and enormous zest for life have much the same infectious appeal as do his paintings."

Presenting an exquisite art slideshow featuring Pablo Picasso's works from 1956 to 1959.
Discover an extraordinary art slideshow showcasing the masterpieces of Pablo Picasso, created between 1956 and 1959.
Pablo Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973)
Pablo Picasso is widely regarded as one of the most renowned painters of the 20th century. On October 20, 1881, he came into this world in Malaga, Spain. Picasso, besides being a painter, was also an accomplished printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet, and playwright. The majority of his time as an adult was spent in France.
Early Life
From a young age, Picasso demonstrated both a deep passion and remarkable talent for drawing. According to his mother, he said his first words were "piz, piz", which was a shortened version of "lápiz", the Spanish word for "pencil". Picasso began his formal artistic training at the age of seven, under the guidance of his father, who taught him figure drawing and oil painting techniques. Once, the father caught his son in the act of painting over his incomplete pigeon sketch. Impressed by his son's precise technique, the father realized that thirteen-year-old Picasso had surpassed him in skill, leading him to make a vow to abandon painting.
Fame
Picasso's upbringing paved the way for his extraordinary journey as one of the most eminent and influential artists of the 20th century. He is renowned for being a co-founder of the Cubist movement, a pioneer who revolutionized the art world with his innovative works, including constructed sculpture and collage. The relentless exploration and development of diverse artistic styles by Picasso only serve to strengthen his remarkable legacy. Picasso is now seen as one of the foremost artists who shaped the groundbreaking advancements in the visual arts during the early years of the 20th century.
Personal Life And Death
Picasso had numerous romantic relationships with many women throughout his life. He enjoyed the privilege of being married two times and experiencing the joy of raising four children, namely Paulo, Maya, Claude, and Paloma, each of whom came from different mothers. On the evening of April 8, 1973, in the beautiful town of Mougins, France, tragedy struck when he breathed his last breath. He was buried in the beautiful Chateau of Vauvenargues near Aix-en-Provence, a property that he had bought in 1958 and shared with Jacqueline from 1959 to 1962. Jacqueline Roque forbade her children, Claude and Paloma, from attending the funeral. Jacobian Roque, feeling devastated and isolated following the passing of Picasso, tragically took her own life in 1986 at the age of 59, using a firearm.

Slideshow of Pablo Picasso's fine art paintings and prints from 1955-1956.
Discover an enchanting slideshow showcasing Pablo Picasso's magnificent fine art paintings and prints created between 1955 and 1956.
Not only was Pablo Picasso one of the most influential painters and artist of his time, he is also one of the most recognized figures of the 20th century, thanks to the work he created during his career. Born in Malaga, Spain, in October of 1881, he was the first child born in the family. His father worked as an artist, and was also a professor at the school of fine arts; he also worked as a curator for the museum in Malaga.
Early life
Pablo Picasso studied under his father for one year, then went to the Academy of Arts for one year, prior to moving to Paris. In 1901 he went to Paris, which he found as the ideal place to practice new styles, and experiment with a variety of art forms. It was during these initial visits, which he began his work in surrealism and cubism style, which he was the founder of, and created many distinct pieces which were influenced by these art forms.
Updates in style
During his stay in Paris, Pablo Picasso was constantly updating his style; he did work from the blue period, the rose period, African influenced style, to cubism, surrealism, and realism. Not only did he master these styles, he was a pioneer in each of these movements, and influenced the styles to follow throughout the 20th century, from the initial works he created. In addition to the styles he introduced to the art world, he also worked through the many different styles which appeared, while working in Paris. Not only did he continually improve his style, and the works he created, he is well known because of the fact that he had the ability to create in any style which was prominent during the time.
Russian ballet
In 1917, Pablo Picasso joined the Russian Ballet, which toured in Rome; during this time he met Olga Khoklova, who was a ballerina; the couple eventually wed in 1918, upon returning to Paris. The couple eventually separated in 1935; Olga came from nobility, and an upper class lifestyle, while Pablo Picasso led a bohemian lifestyle, which conflicted. Although the couple separated, they remained officially married, until Olga's death, in 1954. In addition to works he created of Olga, many of his later pieces also took a centralized focus on his two other love interests, Marie Theresa Walter and Dora Maar. Pablo Picasso remarried Jacqueline Roque in 1961; the couple remained married until his death 12 years later, in 1973.
Work as a pacifist
Pablo Picasso was a pacifist, and large scale paintings he created, showcased this cry for peace, and change during the time. A 1937 piece he created, after the German bombing of Guernica, was one such influential piece of the time. Not only did this become his most famous piece of art work, but the piece which showed the brutality of war, and death, also made him a prominent political figure of the time. To sell his work, and the message he believed in, art, politics, and eccentricity, were among his main selling points.
Conflicting with social views
Many things Pablo Picasso did during the 1950s, conflicted with the general public. Viciousness towards his children, exaggerated virility towards women, and joining the Communist party, were some of the many scandals which he was involved in during his lifetime. Although most of the things he did were viewed negatively by a minority of the general public, admirers of Pablo Picasso turned a blind eye, and still accepted him as a prominent figure in their society. Following the end of WWII, Pablo Picasso turned back towards his classic style of work, and he created the "Dove of Peace." Even though he became a member of the Communist party, and supported Stalin and his political views and rule, Pablo Picasso could do no wrong. In the eyes of his admirers and supporters, he was still a prominent figure, and one which they would follow, regardless of what wrongs he did. He was not only an influence because of the works he created, but he was also an influential figure in the political realm.

Documentary featuring an interview with the artist Marc Chagall 1963
Experience an exclusive interview with the iconic artist Marc Chagall in this captivating documentary.
Marc Chagall, Artist (1887-1985)
Marc Chagall is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Considered a pioneer of the Modern art movement, his vast collection of timeless masterpieces is a rich legacy that continues to influence the world of Modern art. Marc Chagall was born July 7, 1887, in Vitebsk, Russia. In his early life, he attended local Jewish religious schools whose teachings would influence much of his later work. In 1910 Chagall moved to Paris and studied in a small art academy. Incorporating dreamlike imagery with hints of Cubism, popular in France at the time, Chagall created some of his most lasting work. After returning to Vitebsk in 1914, the outbreak of World War I trapped Chagall in Russia. He settled in Vitebsk, where he was appointed Commissar for Art in 1918, but he relinquished the position in 1920 and moved his family to Moscow. During World War II, Chagall fled to the United States and returned to France in 1947. In the later stages of his career, Chagall began working in sculpture, ceramics and stained-glass windows. Significant achievements exist in the form of large-scale commissions around the world, including creating stained-glass windows for the synagogue at the Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem (completed 1961), the Stain-Etienne Cathedral in Metz (completed 1968), and the U.N. Building in New York City (completed 1964) and the All-Saint's Church in Mainz, Germany (Completed 1978). Chagall also painted the ceiling of the Pairs Opera House (completed 1964); and created murals for the New York Metropolitan Opera (completed 1964). In 1977 Chagall received the Grand Medal of the Legion of Honor, France's highest decoration. That same year, he became one of only a handful of artists in history to receive a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre. In 1985 Chagall died at the age of 97, the last surviving of the original European Master of Modern art. He was buried in Stain-Paul, in southeastern France.
