Deer in the backyard
While taking a shortcut in my Vanagon in our back yard to take my Van to a shared car lift, I came across two Bucks laying in the grass. The small one was nervous and stood up while the large on just laid there while I drove around them on my way.
This is becoming more common lately and even the Elk have been doing the same thing except that they are much more shy.

Camp Fire Ban #2
At one of my favorite dispersed USFS Camp Sites, I deal with the current camp fire ban so common this time of year (July). Camping without a camp fire is like eating a sandwich but with no bread.. Leaves a lot to be desired. So taking a hint from Songwriter John Prine, I improvise.
Video was shot with my Contour 1080 HD Helmet Cam in 720 resolution.

Cape Flattery & Makah Bay 2017 (by air)
A 100% Aerial Video of a single July day at the Northwest Limit of the USA and the Makah Nation.
Filmed using a DJI Phantom 3 Pro and edited with DaVinci Resolve 14.
The opening view is Hobuck Resort / Campground and beach with a flight to as far North as the signal would reach.
The second section of the film was Cape Flattery. One of my all-time favorite places. And with a new long-range antenna, I was finally able to get the through-the-tunnel shot I tried several times before without losing radio reception..

Exploring Eastern Washington-Part 3
A return for one night of camping at Trail Lake on a clear and cold (14 degrees F) night and morning. We drove 30 miles North to the other end of Banks Lake to another dispersed campsite with freezing Fog. Another free site and no other people around. Todd and I parted ways on the 5th. I stayed in town for a few days and then headed North to roads I had never been on to see the old mining towns of Chesaw and Molson, Washington. I'll have to come back next Spring and Summer for a better and longer look.
The Monk at the end is a special person. He actually gave me that Singha as a gift while all of the other visitors had to purchase theirs and then have him bless them. He actually knew all about me even though we had never met and explained that we were spirit brothers. So that little casting holds special meaning for me.

Alternate uses for Your Drone
So you got a new Drone for Christmas and think it's only good for buzzing around taking photos and videos of angry neighbors? Here are a few of the alternate uses I've discovered.
However, before you go out fishing, you better have a valid license and check with local laws. I did my fishing at a private Trout Pond.
The wedding sequence was done with a DJI Phantom (first edition) and a GoPro Camera. The roof cleaning was done with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro Plus and the other two were shot using a Phantom 3 Pro.

Anna's Hummingbird on a Cold November Day
This Anna's Hummingbird was protecting his frozen feeder in below freezing temperatures late November near Seattle. There was an icicle hanging below his feet when I shot this video from 3 feet away. I thawed his feeder right after this shot.

Something I've wanted to try for some time became possible without the question: "Is this legal??" Stopped by my friend's private Trout Pond for a try at "Drone Fishing" or "Phantom Fishing" with my DJI Phantom 3 Pro Multi-Rotor "Flying Camera".

A24 Trap in Action
My A-24 Mouse/Rat trap in action. This time, I set up my Game Camera but it was a little too high to see the ground. The camera records for 30 seconds and then pauses before taking another video if movement is still present.
When I inspected the trap, there was no mouse, so I thought there had been no action until I checked the video. I left out the part where a Rabbit came through for a look. So far, in one week, the count is 10. And I don't have to reset the trap until after 24 strikes. :-)

Syncro Vanagon Viscous Coupler Test
Testing the Viscous Coupler in my 91 Syncro Westy.. this is how you do the test using a 2x4 flat on a smooth floor. This is an example of how a good V.C. should work.
Slowly let out the clutch in low or G gear at idle. It should stay behind the 2X4. With a slight increase in revs, it should climb over the 2X4.

Sparky the Quaker Parrot Sings with Mom
A video of my Mother and her Quaker Parrot Sparky with a little dancing and singing by both. December 2006.
I don't think one could have lived without the other anyway.

Syncro Shift Box Pattern 2
Video of the Vanagon Syncro Shift Box Guide using a GoPro camera while shifting through the gears. This also helped me judge that I needed to raise the fork shaft at least another 1/4" to help prevent accidental shifts to reverse and granny gear.

San Miguel Roof Top3
From a single flight around the City central of San Miguel de Allende, December 2017
The subject focus was the roof-top way of life that is seldom seen from the streets. When there are no spaces between building walls, the roof becomes the yard.
The main Churches in the City Center were included just because... However, there are some far better detail videos of the Churches elsewhere in videos that focused on them.
The difficult part of this video was finding a vantage point that would not block my signal. 2.4 GHz is WAY too busy in the City with all of the WIFI and Cell Phones, so I had to switch to 5.8 GHz to get a secure channel. But at that frequency, the slightest obstacle can break the signal and cause a Go-To-Home Return flight. I was happy to make the circle around the city without any interruptions of video nor control signal.
