Saving Charlotte NC...What you can do!
America is struggling to recover financially from a global pandemic. Americans have lost loved ones to COVID19. The world has witnessed the horrific death of #GeorgeFloyd at the hands police brutality in Minneapolis— cities in America are burning to the ground, experiencing looting and rioting. Our own Queen City has been targeted by Antifa like groups who are hijacking the peaceful protests for #GeorgeFloyd. Charlotte businesses are being vandalized and looted. Our city council is meeting to start defunding the police department!!! NC Governor Roy Cooper is supporting rioters damaging property over NC business owners in his latest tweet. Furthermore, Cooper is refusing to negotiate with the RNC, causing an already devastated Queen City economy to lose over 100 million in revenue. What in the world is going on? We need voices of reason to speak truth into this chaos.
Cindy Decker is one of those rare voices.
Decker is Lead Ambassador for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Ambassador Program. Decker was compelled to find a way to save Charlotte after the 2016 Charlotte Riots ignited over the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott. Decker discovered decades of failed policies affecting our most vulnerable communities. Seeing the toll taken on law enforcement officers, she sought out Charlotte’s Chief of Police to find out how to build a stronger relationship between community and police. Together, they created CMPD Ambassadors. The program has a series of trainings to give community members tools to build bridges across diverse communities, develop communication & conflict resolution skills, mediation tactics, understand local government, know Charlotte’s great history so the Ambassadors can be excellent hosts, and serve alongside CMPD for major sports events, conventions as well as being an extra set of eyes and ears during protests. So far, 450 residents are part of the program. Visit BridgeTheDifferenceNC.com to join the effort.

Edith Ann Early Perry Celebration of Life
Edith Ann Early Perry, 77, formerly of Wingate, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020. She was born January 8, 1943 in Henderson, NC, daughter of the late James Howard Early and Nettie Anna Hicks Early. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cleveland Perry and sister, Edna Early Worley.
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm. Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Wingate Baptist Church, 109 E. Elm St. Wingate, NC 28174. Burial will follow in Wingate City Cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 4:00pm until 6:00pm Saturday, March 14,2020 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC.
Ms. Perry is survived by her daughters, Donica Perry Hudson, of Banner Elk and Desha Perry of Los Angeles and her brother, Jim Early of Winston Salem.
Edith Ann Early Perry is the kind of person you never forget…witty, smart, articulate, gorgeous, genteel yet feisty and passionate, toughly pioneering yet softly nurturing…a kind soul to those who were hurting…a helping hand to those in need…a melody to lift your spirits with her trained voice, upbeat songs she wrote and piano playing that charged the room with excitement …“Mama Bird” to the students she so loved and who so loved her…she was a force for good to be reckoned with…and her legacy lives on through all those she has touched with her love…family, students and even strangers.
THE SOURCE OF HER LOVE
From an early age, Edith was inquisitive. At age 5, Edith invited her Pastor to visit her family in their parlor to inquire about God. By faith, Edith accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and served him all the days of her life. She was quick to point to the Holy Spirit living within her as the source of her love—and boy did she share that love well! She was known for her hugs, for her good food baked with love for family, friends and those in need, for her wise counsel and for seeing the good in students and lovingly educating them to reach their full potentials.

Nancy Schulze Charlotte Christian Chamber
Nancy Schulze, a fellow of the Chuck Colson Center, says, because of the profound gaps in education since the 60’s, many Americans are unclear about what drives policy in this country and how those policies affect each one of us. Schulze also states; “Every debate, bill, regulation or policy is connected to a belief system or worldview vying for dominance in America. Charlotte Christian Chamber
