Can You Store Your Kayak Outside Long Term? - There are a Few Options
As we all know, kayaking is one of life’s gems as many are relatively affordable and extremely fun. But considering their large size, most people don’t have additional garage space. So can you store your kayak outside?
Portable Kayak Stands - https://amzn.to/3YdXyZ6
Kayak Covers - https://amzn.to/3UNOR4W
In short, yes kayaks can be stored outside long term as long as you live in a mild climate and they’re protected from the sun. A few examples will be in a covered porch or under a deck. And for added protection from the weather, I recommend Kayak covers as you see in the picture below.
Sun Damage To Kayaks
So why hide your kayak from the sun? Aren’t they in direct sunlight almost every time you’re out kayaking? Including mine, most kayaks are made of polyethylene which is prone to sun damage after long and consistent exposure.
UV rays from the sun break down plastics over time. But the worst most people experience from many kayak day trips is the color slightly fades after a few years. If you want to go the extra mile to keep your kayak safe from the sun, you can get UV protection for plastic kayaks.
Storing Your Kayak in Winter
The combination of both moisture and extremely cold temperatures for extended periods can possibly shorten the longevity of your kayak. Snow and ice alone can crack the plastic of your boat. So not only is covering and keeping your kayak under deck going to protect it from the sun but also in the winter.
Nowhere To Hide Your Kayak From Weather Or Sun?
But what if you don’t have a porch or deck to store your kayak under? So there are two simple and affordable options.
Get portable kayak stands where instead of having your kayak sit right-side up, flip it upside down. After that, cover it with a tarp. Keeping them stored upside down protects the most vulnerable part which is the topside.
In case you’re worried about animals getting inside of your kayak when storing it like this since rodents look for warmth in the wintertime, you can add the kayak cover for the topside, as well.

Fall Branch Falls trail on a cloudy spring day looks a lot like a fantasy movie. The lush mossy trees, vegetation, and biodiversity are amazing.
This trail is within the Benton MacKaye Trai (BMT), and near the incredible mountain town of Ellijay, Georgia. After the hike, we stopped by Ellijay for a while.

The Benton MacKaye Trail or BMT is a footpath nearly 300 miles (480 km) in length in the Appalachian Mountains in the southeastern United States and is blazed by a white diamond, 5″ across by 7″ tall. The hiking trail was created and is maintained by the Benton MacKaye Trail Association, and it is named for Benton MacKaye, the Massachusetts forester and regional planner who first had the idea for the Appalachian Trail in 1921.[1][2]
The BMT runs from Springer Mountain in Georgia (sharing the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail) to Big Creek[3] in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail passes through seven United States Wilderness Areas, while traversing three states (Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina). The lowest elevation (765 ft) on the BMT occurs at the crossing of the Hiwassee River in Tennessee. The highest elevation is the 5,843-foot (1,781 m) summit of Mt. Sterling in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.
The trail crosses various trout rivers along its path including Shallowford Bridge and the Swinging Bridge over the Toccoa River in Georgia, the Ocoee, Hiwassee, Upper Bald and Tellico rivers in Tennessee, and the Little Tennessee River in North Carolina. It also crosses Eagle, Hazel, Forney, Noland and Big creeks in the Smokies, along with Fontana Dam and the Oconaluftee River.

Sawnee Mountain is a low mountain between the piedmont and Appalachian foothills of the U.S. state of Georgia, north of Atlanta. Average rainfall/46.26in/yr/ average snowfall/5.7in/yr/. The name Sawnee Mountain actually refers to the entire ridge of approximately five miles (8 km) in length. At its summit, the elevation is 1,946 feet (593 m) above mean sea level, and is roughly 750 feet (230 m) above the surrounding terrain.[3] The Sawnee Mountain range runs southwest to northeast, and consists of five knolls and three gaps (Chamblee, Sawnee, and Bettes).[4] Located only a few miles north of Cumming, Georgia (the county seat), the mountain is easily the highest point in Forsyth county. One of the highest peaks of metro Atlanta, it nudges out its prominently known neighbors Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain by a hundred or so feet each. However, Sawnee is in the far northern exurbs, putting it in third place behind Bear Mountain and Pine Log Mountain to the west.

If you're looking for a moderate hike with many waterfalls and campgrounds along the way, Ravencliff Falls is an excellent choice. It's located in North Georgia right outside of Helen, Georgia. Many people bring their kids and pets, as well. We hiked this trail in early October when the leaves were just starting to change.
In the "Hiking Epic Trails" series, we find the coolest landmarks on each trail leading to a waterfall and give them a name. However, some of them already have a name. In order, the landmarks in this video are Mini Falls, The Rapids, Mystical Water, Midway Falls, Big Brother, and Ravencliff Falls.

Raven Cliff Falls are located in White County, Georgia on a creek that joins Dodd Creek. The waterfall consists of three drops, a 60-foot (18 m) drop, followed by a 20-foot (6.1 m) drop into a deep pool, followed by a cascade of 20 feet (6.1 m) to Dodd Creek. The waterfall is an unusual double cascade flowing down through a fissure in a massive granite outcrop.[1] There are also three other major waterfalls located on Dodd Creek, with the largest having a 70-foot (21 m) drop.
Raven Cliff Falls is formed by Dodd Creek, a modest size mountain stream. The waterfall and creek are within of the Raven Cliffs Wilderness of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The creek is known as one of the most beautiful in northern Georgia.[2] Raven Cliff Falls is one of four popular waterfalls in the Forest near Helen, Georgia. Two of the other waterfalls, Anna Ruby Falls and Dukes Creek Falls, are also in White County, while the third waterfall, DeSoto Falls, is in neighboring Lumpkin County.
Raven Cliff Falls are reached by the Raven Cliffs Trail that follows Dodd Creek to the falls. The trail, which is about 5 miles round trip in length, is relatively easy to hike until near the end. From 2,040 feet (620 m) at the trailhead near Bear Den Creek the path slopes gently upward to 2,600 feet (790 m) at the base of the falls.[3] Blue blazes mark the trail, which is easy to follow.
The trailhead lies just off the Richard Russell Scenic Highway. From the parking area the trail runs northwest into a scenic valley teeming with mountain laurel, rhododendron, mixed hardwoods and moss-covered seepages. Along the way the trail passes smaller waterfalls, clear pools and cascading whitewater. The trail ends at an impressive 80-foot (24 m) cliff formation split down the middle with Raven Cliff Falls in between. A steep path leading to the top of the cliff offers wonderful views of the valley and the creek below.
While the trail is usually serene, it may be heavily visited during weekends.[4] It is ideal for dayhikes and family outings.[5] The area is also popular for primitive-style tent camping. Rappelling from the cliff face, once a popular activity, is no longer permitted.

How To Load 2 Kayaks By Yourself (On Your Car)
In this video, I’m going to show you the standard way to rack both kayaks by yourself, and an alternative way if you’re kayak is too heavy to lift above your head.
How To Load & Secure 2 Kayaks To Your Car’s Dual Kayak Roof Rack
-Attach both kayak racks centered and aligned with each other on the roof. -After installing it the first time, you can leave it permanently if you want.
-Fold the center bar straight up on each rack, and lock it in place.
-Place two straps folded on the top of each racks center bar
-Pick up and place the 1st kayak and center it on the rack, sideways, seat out, front facing the car’s front
-Tie and fasten 1 strap on each rack of the first kayak; by putting both ends on the other side of the boat, put the straps through the racks cradle, below the crossbar, back up the cradle, buckle, and tighten.
-Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 2nd kayak
-Attach the kayak’s front hook to the car’s front and rear hook to the trunk For both kayaks
-Alternative To Loading Your Kayak Without Lifting The Entire Thing Over Your Head
-If you can’t lift the entire kayak above your head or your vehicle is too tall to reach the rack, there is a DIY alternative.
-Place towel behind front roof rack
-Place Mat or rug below the kayak’s rear. (To keep the kayak from slipping or getting scratched)
-Lift the front of the kayak and place it on the towel as it rests on the roof of the car
-Lift the kayak rear while sliding the front on the front rack, then the rear on the rear rack
What if you don’t have an extra towel or mat? The truth is, if you’re like me and don’t care about a few scratches on your car or the kayak’s rear, you don’t actually need them. You can simply lift your kayak behind the rear rack, slide it up, tie it, and you’re off.
To Sum It Up
Loading and unloading your kayaks is a skill. And just like any other skill, practice makes perfect. It only gets easier and faster the more you do it. After about the 4th or 5th time, you’ll have absolutely no issues with transporting your kayaks without any help.

Dry Falls, also known as Upper Cullasaja Falls, is a 65-foot (20.1 m) waterfall located in the Nantahala National Forest, northwest of Highlands, North Carolina.
Geology
Dry Falls flows on the Cullasaja River through the Nantahala National Forest. It is part of a series of waterfalls on an 8.7-mile (14 km) stretch of the river that eventually ends with Cullasaja Falls. Dry Falls flows over an overhanging bluff that allows visitors to walk up under the falls and remain relatively dry when the waterflow is low, hence its name. Visitors will get wet if the waterflow is high.
History
The falls has been called Dry Falls for a long time, but has also gone by a few other names, including High Falls, Pitcher Falls, and Cullasaja Falls.[3] It received its name because supposedly, you can walk behind the falls and stay dry, however this is only true in periods of low flow.
Visiting The Falls
Dry Falls is located on the side of U.S. Highway 64 3.1 miles (5.0 km) north of Highlands, North Carolina. There is a parking area on the side of the road, where visitors can park before walking the short path with stairs to the falls.
During 2008–2009 the Forest Service made improvements to the parking area, which included renovation and expansion and the addition of bathroom facilities. A new walkway and overlook were also constructed adjacent to the parking area.[4]
Bridal Veil Falls is a 45-foot (13.7 m) waterfall located in the Nantahala National Forest, northwest of Highlands, North Carolina. With a short curve of roadway located behind the falls, it had the distinction of being the only waterfall in the state that one could drive a vehicle under, however this has since been closed and is now used for pedestrian access only.

The DeSoto Falls of Georgia are located in Lumpkin County, Georgia along Frogtown Creek. There are actually three waterfalls on Frogtown Creek, called Upper DeSoto Falls, Middle Desoto Falls and Lower DeSoto Falls. The upper waterfall drops 200 feet (61 m), the middle waterfall drops 67 feet (20 m) and the lower waterfall drops 35 feet (11 m). The overall height of the falls, as measured inclusive of non-vertical falls, cascades and steep stream bed, is 480 feet (150 m).[1] DeSoto Falls are located at an elevation of 3,560-foot (1,090 m) on Rocky Mountain.
The DeSoto Falls are named for Spanish explorer Hernando deSoto, who passed through Georgia around 1540. According to a sign posted on the DeSoto Falls Trail, a 2.4-mile (3.9 km) in and out hiking trail to the falls, a plate of armor was discovered at the base of the falls in the 1880s.
The falls are part of the Chattahoochee National Forest and located in a 650-acre (2.6 km2) area designated the Desoto Falls Scenic Area. There is also a campground located along the banks of Frogtown Creek. DeSoto Falls is one of four popular waterfalls in the Forest located near Helen, Georgia. The other three popular waterfalls are Anna Ruby Falls, Dukes Creek Falls and Raven Cliff Falls, all located in neighboring White County.

Do Waterproof Zippered Dry Backpacks Work?
Rather than a standard dry bag that rolls up and buckles, there are also dry backpacks on the market that are zippered. In general, a zippered dry backpack is more convenient, time-saving, and offers more organization than standard dry bags. But do they really work?
Dry BackPack In This Video (Remote Designs) https://remotedesignsllc.com/products/remote-designs-submersible-dry-backpack
Water Proof Testing
I gave this dry backpack 3 separate water tests. Rain, floating in a river if it falls off, and submerging it 3 feet underwater for a few minutes.
Rain Test: No water penetrated
Water Floating Test: No water penetrated
Water Submerge Test: No water penetrated
I did this same test with a standard dry bag. The drybag didn’t allow any water penetration either besides during the submerging test where there was a little leakage.
Other Reasons Why I Like The Remote Designs Zippered Dry Back Pack
Impact Resistance
Made with 1680D TPU, this backpack is extremely durable and more impact-resistant compared to other dry bags.
Overall Convenience Of A Zippered Backpack
Zippered backpacks in general are more convenient and easier to use than a standard dry bag.
Organization
Lastly, this pack offers many compartments of various sizes to help organize everything you bring. Whereas standard dry bags don’t have any extra compartments.

Best Trail In Chattanooga, TN? | Hiking Civil War HISTORIC Cravens House To Sunset Rock
Used by the confederates in 1863 to track Union troops, today we hike to Sunset rock from Cravens House. This trail is located on lookout mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to many locals, this is one of the very best hiking trails in the region. Halfway through and on, it provides many areas for bouldering and rock climbing.
But not only are the epic rockfaces and phenomenal summit view what make this trek great, but also the fascinating civil war history. Which I cover a bit in the video.
This area of lookout mountain hosted "the Battle Above the Clouds" during the civil war. It is also part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga Military State Park.
In the "Hiking Epic Trails" series, we find the coolest landmarks on each hiking trail and give them a name. However, some of them already have a name. In order, the landmarks in this video are Pennsylvania & Illinois Civil War Monuments, Big Momma, Cravens Wall, Witches Hut, and Sunset Rock.

Located on the northwest side of Lookout Mountain, Sunset Rock is a popular trailhead and tourist stop. It is part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga Military State Park, the largest and oldest Civil War national park.[5][6] Once known as Point Lookout, Sunset Rock provides a view of the Tennessee River, Signal Mountain and Prentice Cooper State Forest.[7][8] The 100-foot cliff and moderate temperatures invite heavy traffic for its many climbing routes, which were completed in 1960. Sunset Rock is mainly sandstone, making for easier routing and climbing. Route development continued through the 1960s and 1970s. In the 1980s, routers pushed the grades ever higher. Climbing here is especially popular in the autumn months due to cooler weather.[9]
Sunset Rock is attractive to Civil War enthusiasts due to its history; it has a Tennessee Historical Commission Marker at the head of the trail, describing its Civil War battle history. Confederate Generals Braxton Bragg and James Longstreet[10] used Sunset Rock as a lookout in 1863 where they were able to track the movement of the Union troops as they entered Lookout Valley. It is claimed that, unknown to Longstreet, the Union troops could see him on Sunset Rock from the valley, where they were able to decipher the Confederate code, giving them the ability to anticipate the next moves of the Confederates.[11] This resulted in the Battle of Wauhatchie, in which the Confederate army attempted to remove the Union forces from the river and block their supply lines. The attempt was unsuccessful; with the consequence that the Union forces were able to lay siege to Chattanooga.

Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge is an 829-acre (3.35 km2) Georgia state park located between Ellijay and Dahlonega in Dawsonville, Georgia. The park's name is derived from a Cherokee language word meaning "tumbling waters".[1] The park is home to Amicalola Falls, a 729-foot (222 m) waterfall that is the highest in Georgia.[2] However, an analysis conducted by the World Waterfall Data base suggests that the main part of the falls is 429 ft (131 m) in height, followed by a prolonged gently sloping run in which the flow drops another 279 ft (85 m).[3] It is considered to be one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Georgia. An 8-mile (13 km) trail that winds past Amicalola Falls and leads to Springer Mountain, famous as the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, begins in the park. Amicalola Falls State Park also offers many hiking trails, a guest lodge, restaurant, cabins, a shelter for long-distance Appalachian Trail hikers, a campground, and access to the eco-friendly Len Foote Hike Inn.

Gorgeous Waterfall Hike In The WINTER, ICY RIVER - Exploring Anna Ruby Falls In Georgia | Easy Trail
In this video, we hike North Georgia's easy but beautiful Anna Ruby Falls waterfall. Although the waterfall itself is quite epic, the quick but scenic journey to the falls reminds us of a fantasy movie. Better yet, the freezing winter made many icicles along the way.
In the "Hiking Epic Trails" series, we find the coolest landmarks on each hiking trail and give them a name. However, some of them already have a name. In order, the landmarks in this video are Moss Rock Falls, Hidden Moss Cave, Icicle Overhang, Forking Falls, Boulder Ridge, & Anna Ruby Falls.

Anna Ruby Falls is located near Unicoi State Park in White County near Helen, Georgia. The waterfall is accessible via a half mile (800 m) paved trail from a public use area with a small admittance charge. The Anna Ruby Falls Trail is designated a National Recreation Trail in Georgia.[1]
Anna Ruby Falls is actually twin waterfalls created where two separate streams- Curtis Creek and York Creek- join at the base of the falls to form Smith Creek, which flows into Unicoi Lake. Both Curtis and York creeks begin on Tray Mountain, Georgia's sixth-highest peak: Curtis Creek drops 153 feet (47 m) and York Creek drops 50 feet (15 m). The falls are named after Anna Ruby Nichols, the daughter of an early settler.[2]
The Anna Ruby Falls Scenic Area is a 1,600-acre (6 km2) area around Anna Ruby Falls and is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest, though access is only through Unicoi State Park. The U.S. Forest Service leases it to the non-profit Cradle of Forestry. The Cradle of Forestry accepts the "Golden Age" pass allowing seniors in free, with pass. There is an entry fee for the parking area, and a Georgia ParkPass (required for parking at Unicoi) is not honored, as it is on federal land rather than state.
Anna Ruby Falls is one of four popular waterfalls located in the Forest near Helen, Georgia. Two of the other water falls, Dukes Creek Falls and Raven Cliff Falls, are also in White County, while the third waterfall, DeSoto Falls, is in neighboring Lumpkin County

Hiking The Tallest Cliff in East USA | Whiteside Mountain (North Carolina)
In this adventure to Highlands, North Carolina within the Nantahala temperate rainforest, we hiked a pluton mountain which is one of the oldest mountains in this world. Called Whiteside mountain, It also has the tallest cliff in the east USA. Whiteside mountain is also a notable landmark of the Eastern Continental Divide. Furthermore, a beautiful paragraine falcon (worlds fastest bird and animal) got agressive with my drone! Overall, one of the best hiking trails we've done so far!

In the "Hiking Epic Trails" series, we find the coolest landmarks on each hiking trail and give them a name. However, some of them already have a name. In order, the landmarks in this video are Summit 1, a Man-made platform, Narrows at the Ridge, Edge of the World, Far Side of the Mountain, If you're scared of heights don't come here overlook, rocky top overlook, puddle rock overlook, Mini Cave near the split rock, striped rock on whiteside staircase.
Whiteside Mountain or Sanigilâ'gĭ in Cherokee is a mountain in Jackson County, North Carolina between Cashiers, Highlands, North Carolina, and the Georgia border.[1] Whiteside Mountain can boast the highest cliffs in Eastern North America.[2] It also has a feature called Devil's Courthouse,[3] not to be confused with the Devil's Courthouse 20 miles away in Transylvania County, NC.[4]
Since the 1980s, the forest service has tried to restrict access to the Courthouse and has allowed the foot trail to it to grow over because of dangers such as strong winds. They also did not want accidents from paragliding and similar activities taking place from the mountain top or from the Courthouse. There is also an overhang, a small platform less than 7 feet in diameter, connected to Whiteside as if it were a cantilever. Similar overhangs can be found on the Appalachian Trail.

I Traveled To Every City Square In Georgia, USA | Compilation
I traveled to every single city and town of all sizes in the state of Georgia. I filmed the city square of every single one and put it in this compilation video. I found 373 city squares total.
Keep in mind, many towns or cities in Georgia don’t have a square. So to be clear, this a simply a compilation video of only the square of every city that has one. There are also many larger cities that doesn’t have a prominent city center such as holly springs, John’s creek, Warner bros, etc.
Other terms of city square are downtown, city center, or town square. Many smaller towns only have a post office or another government building which wasn’t necessarily enough to consider it a town square.

Kayaking in Woodstock, Georgia To Allatoona Falls & Jumping Rock
For our very first kayaking and stand up paddle boarding video, we head down "Little River" from Olde Rope Mill Park located in Woodstock, Georgia.
After roughly 1.6 miles of paddling near the opening of Lake Allatoona, we veered right on a split-off to a swampy looking area with underwater trees. Also known as Allatoona Falls, we found Tonigh Creek Falls shortly down the split off and played like little kids. So why do us adults play like little kids? Because it's fun lol.

The Little River is a 29.3-mile-long (47.2 km)[1] tributary of the Etowah River in the U.S. state of Georgia in the United States.
The Little River is located mostly in Cherokee County, and forms the jagged part of the Cherokee/Fulton (formerly Cherokee/Milton) county line, and part of the more recent Milton city limit.
The river flows generally from east to west, and divides the Woodstock area to the south and Holly Springs area to the north. Its largest tributary is Noonday Creek, a stream which flows north out of Cobb and through Cherokee County, and now also empties directly into the lake. The confluence with the Etowah River is now submerged beneath Lake Allatoona.
The river begins as a small stream between Free Home and Holbrook, just west of the Cherokee/Forsyth county line and just south of Georgia State Route 20 (SR 20), along Free Home Road. It flows south-southwest, crossing Free Home Highway (SR 372), then roughly paralleling Birmingham Road (also SR 372) to the road's west. After passing through Almond Lake (where it receives a tributary from the north), and picking-up another tributary from the east-northeast, it becomes part of the county line, except for a small section entirely on Fulton/Milton side between Clarity Road and Hickory Flat Highway (SR 140), which may have been a former route for the river. There are also other places where the line diverges slightly to the west side of the river. Just before the Ansley Golf Club at Settindown Creek, the county line diverges due south, and the river continues west.
After Trickum Road, it meanders generally northwest, meeting Rubes Creek and Mill Creek at the same point, just before Canton Highway (Main Street in Woodstock) at the north end of J.J. Biello Park. Continuing northwest, it passes Rope Mill Park just before crossing Interstate 575, and begins to widen into the lake just before meeting Toonigh Creek. Soon after, it meets the Noonday Creek arm of the lake, then widens and again narrows before meeting the Blankets Creek arm. It jogs southwest and the north again to meet Rose Creek, widening and narrowing again at Little River Landing. Just after this, it ends into the Etowah River, the largest arm of the lake.
Bell's Ferry was located on Bells Ferry Road, and took traffic going between Marietta and Canton (the Cobb and Cherokee county seats) over the river between Oak Grove and Sixes. This is now the point that informally divides the river from main part of the lake, and now has a small marina named for the river at the Little River Landing. There is also a boat ramp and parking lot maintained by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

Can Inflatable SUP Handle Rough Waters & Bumping Rocks (Impact)
Can an inflatable SUP handle rough waters and bumping into rocks? When most people think of an inflatable paddle board, they think that it can pop if you hit rocks or they’re not tough enough to withstand rough waters.
My SUP - https://amzn.to/3uEHimr
The truth is, not only are inflatable SUPs able to withstand extremely rough water without any issues, but you can also use them for surfing, and they’re also more impact resistant to bumping into rocks than hard boards. Inflatable paddle boards also last longer than standard hard boards since they’re constructed of military-grade material.
Inflatable Paddle Board Impact Resistance & Bumping Into Rocks
Common belief will tell you that inflatables are easy to puncture. While that might be true for inflatable kid floaties, most modern SUP inflatable paddle boards are actually more durable than hard boards. They have extremely impressive impact resistance and are able to take on rocky collisions better than hard boards.
Paddle Boarding On Choppy Water With An Inflatable
It’s harder to SUP on rough water. But not only can an inflatable withstand choppy water with ease, but the enhanced stability of an inflatable might also make it easier to paddle choppy water than a hard board.
Do Inflatable Paddle Boards Last Long?
If you’re still unsure about the overall durability of an inflatable paddleboard compared to a hard board, you’ll be pleased to know that inflatable SUPs have been proven to last longer than a standard hardboard.
Since most inflatables are made of military-grade material and hard boards are made with EPS foam core wrapped with fiberglass layers, hardboards are more vulnerable to damage that require costly repair.
