$30 SATAY STREET in SINGAPORE 🇸🇬 & The ORIGINAL SINGAPORE SLING at the Raffles Hotel LONG BAR
Join us today as we hit an iconic must-stop in Singapore and then head out to the biggest satay hawker centre we have ever experienced. We start the evening heading to the Raffles Hotel for its famous cocktail. The Singapore Sling was created around 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Originally a disguised drink for women, it gained popularity as a tropical gin-based cocktail. Today, it remains an iconic symbol of Singapore's cocktail culture and the history of the Raffles Hotel. Afterward, we head to another must-stop hawker center: Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat. Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat offers a vibrant culinary experience. Amidst the bustling hawker center, savory skewers of grilled meat are prepared and infused with aromatic spices. The fragrant smoke, lively atmosphere, and delectable flavors make it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts in the heart of the city. On top of a night full of tasty drinks and grilled meats (Kelly finds delicious vegetarian Indian dishes), we have our good friend from Alaska joining us!

$30 HUGE SEAFOOD FEAST at Palawan's Most Popular Restaurant | PINOY MUKBANG Philippines 🇵🇭
We finally found Sisig on our last day in the Philippines. It is actually sold everywhere, but we were busy with all the festivals at the beginning of our trip. Join us today, as we seek out this signature Filipino food at the popular Kalui Seafood Restaurant in Palawan, and enjoy a HUGE Seafood feast. Sisig is a savory and spicy Filipino dish made from parts of a pig's head and liver (can include chicken or fish), seasoned with calamansi juice, onions, chili peppers, and other spices. The meat is cooked and chopped into small pieces, mixed with the seasoning ingredients, and often served with rice and a fried egg. Sisig is a popular dish in the Philippines and is commonly enjoyed as a main dish or as an appetizer with alcoholic beverages.
After dinner, we wandered over to Gianni’s Gelato for a delicious dessert. This was a great way to end our trip in the Philippines. The kids love gelato and the owner sat with us while we finished our dessert. The vibe in Palawan is really good and we hope to come back again. We know we missed so many more things that the Philippines has to offer, keep sending us your suggestions. We always try to do them on our return trip (since we film videos and then edit/post later).

AMERICAN FAMILY Tries BALUT for the FIRST TIME in Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭 | Pinoy Mukbang Philippines
We finally found them: BALUT and SIOMAI! Thanks to everyone’s suggestions. I know we are excited to try balut for the first time. We had been looking for balut during our daytime street food markets, but you told us that it is a night market treat. Balut is a fertilized duck egg that is boiled and eaten as a delicacy in some Southeast Asian countries, particularly in the Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It is typically served as a street food or snack and is considered a popular food item among locals. While balut may not appeal to everyone's taste buds due to its unique texture and flavor, it remains a popular and traditional food item in many Southeast Asian cultures.
Siomai is a Chinese dim sum dish that has become popular in many parts of the world. It typically consists of ground pork or shrimp and other ingredients such as water chestnuts, scallions, and mushrooms, wrapped in a thin dough wrapper and steamed. Siomai is often served with soy sauce and calamansi, a type of citrus fruit.

VISITING CEBU's BIGGEST MALL on the BUSIEST DAY of the YEAR | Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭 Sinulog Festival
We went to the Sinulog festival in Cebu City and ended up visiting Cebu's biggest mall, the SM Seaside City Mall. This was possibly the busiest mall we have ever visited. The SM City Mall in Cebu City, Philippines is one of the largest shopping destinations in the region. With a total floor area of over 430,000 square meters, the mall offers a wide range of retail, dining, and entertainment options. The mall also features a cinema complex, a bowling alley, and a large food court. In addition to its indoor facilities, SM City Cebu also has outdoor spaces such as a Sky Park and a Northwing Open Area. The mall's strategic location in the city center and its convenient transportation options make it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

Lechon is a traditional dish in the Philippines that is enjoyed at special occasions and celebrations. It is a whole roasted pig cooked over charcoal until the skin is crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. The preparation process is long and arduous, involving the cleaning and preparation of the pig, filling its cavity with herbs and spices, and roasting the pig over a charcoal pit for several hours.
One of the most distinctive features of lechon is its crispy skin, which is highly prized for its crunchiness and flavor. The meat of the lechon is also highly valued for its tenderness and a rich and savory flavor, which is infused with the herbs and spices used in the preparation process. Lechon is often served with a dipping sauce made from vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic, which helps to cut through the richness of the meat.
Lechon is an important cultural symbol in the Philippines and is often used to demonstrate hospitality, generosity, and respect. It is a centerpiece of many celebrations, including weddings, birthdays, and fiestas, and is seen as a way to honor guests and show appreciation for their presence. While lechon has gained popularity in other parts of the world in recent years, many people believe that the best lechon can only be found in the Philippines, where the dish has been perfected over centuries of tradition and culinary expertise.

First Impressions of CEBU, Philippines 🇵🇭 | MUKBANG Philippines | Sinulog Festival
Today we leave the amazing street food scene in Manila and head to Cebu City! Cebu has so much to offer from historical sites, eco-adventures, and luxury resorts, but we are here to explore Cebu City. We didn’t realize it until we got here, but there was a HUGE festival going on during the same time: SINULOG! Our original plan was to explore Cebu’s beaches and eco-adventures, but since Sinulog was happening we changed our plans (plus everything was booked). What a fun time! In this video, we travel to Cebu, show you where we are staying, and give you a sneak peek into the pre-festival street food stalls. We ended up staying right in the heart of all the action, with easy access to restaurants, a grocery store, pharmacies, coffee shops, laundry, and many of the Sinulog events (performances, food vendors, and the parade).

About Sinulog Festival:
Sinulog Festival is an annual cultural and religious festival celebrated in Cebu City, Philippines, on the third Sunday of January. The festival is a celebration of the Sto. Niño, a statue of the Holy Child Jesus, which was given by Ferdinand Magellan to the wife of the native ruler of Cebu in 1521.
The word "Sinulog" comes from the Cebuano word "sulog," which means "like water current movement." The dances and movements of the festival participants are inspired by the movement of water.
More About Cebu City:
Cebu City is a highly urbanized city located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It is the second-largest city in the Philippines, after Manila, and is considered the "Queen City of the South." Cebu City is a major economic and cultural center in the Visayas region, with a rich history dating back to the pre-colonial era.
The city is known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, delicious food, and rich cultural heritage. Some of the top tourist attractions in Cebu City include the Magellan's Cross, Fort San Pedro, the Basilica del Santo Niño, and the Taoist Temple. Cebu City is also famous for its festivals, including the Sinulog Festival, which is held every January in honor of the Santo Niño.
Cebu City is also a major transportation hub in the Philippines, with an international airport and several seaports that connect it to other parts of the country and the world. The city is also home to numerous universities and colleges, making it a popular destination for students from around the Philippines and abroad.

$10 FILIPINO STREET FOOD TOUR at UGBO in TONDO Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 | MUKBANG Philippines
If you want off-the-beaten-path Filipino street food, with a more local (less touristy) feel, head to UGBO in the Tondo District of Manila. This place was busy with a younger crowd, with lots of music and action going on. The entire street is just one food vendor after another. We really only spent time on this one street, so I’m sure we missed a lot, as well. We were able to get a taxi here and back to our hotel with no problem. There were many tuk-tuk trucks passing through there, too. We never figured out how to get on one of those, so that is something we will have to try when we come back. In this video, we eat, eat, and eat some more. We had fried foods, meat on a stick, popcorn, empanadas, and the dessert YOU suggested: Halo Halo! Kelly found a twister potato (and off camera she found fresh chili and garlic peanuts). It was a full night of eating. We met so many fun kids running around.
We love that YOU get to join us around the world. The Bags Packed Family community has grown so much over the last few months and we appreciate all of your support. Stick with us as we explore more of the Philippines, heading to Cebu and Palawan soon.

$12 THEME PARK in MANILA, PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 | STAR CITY Amusement Park
Our first roller coaster video! We have filmed water parks and kid play areas, but this is our first attempt at taking the kids to an amusement park. Join us as we explore Star City in Manila, Philippines. This theme park has something for kids of all ages. Watch as Forest rides his first roller coaster! His favorite thing was the dinosaur display, though. Granite and Jonathan go on the scariest ride of all. Granite makes me (Kelly) go on his first upside-down roller coaster. We all feel sorry for Cedar, she was too short for the big rides and too big for the little rides. Despite the letdowns, she didn’t complain or let them ruin her night. We ended the night on the Ferris Wheel, watching Manila’s city night lights from high above everything. We had lots of amusement park snacks like popcorn, hotdogs, and fun drinks. I think we can all agree that the best part of the night was meeting so many fun people while waiting in the queues.

AMERICAN FAMILY tries JOLLIBEE For The FIRST TIME in Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 | McDONALD'S vs JOLLIBEE
The moment you all have been waiting for! Well, maybe it’s the moment the kids have been waiting for… McDonald's vs Jollibee! This Manila, Philippines, fast food challenge is on! We normally prefer delicious Filipino street food, but we had heard so much about Jollibee that we had to give it a try. There is a Jollibee in Dubai, but we never went to it while we lived there. In fact, the whole Filipino food scene in Dubai is probably something we need to go back and explore.
In this video, we knew we had to compare a McDonald’s cheeseburger to Jolliibee’s cheeseburger. That is Granite’s favorite and top pick. Then, we found two items from McDonald’s that we had never seen before - fried chicken and spaghetti. We knew instantly that we had to use those in our food challenge. Unfortunately, Kelly didn’t find any vegetarian options, so she compared the french fries. Join us at Rizal Park, as we have this delicious taste off between Jollibee and McDonald’s. See who prefers what, you may be surprised.

First Impressions of Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 | Intramuros Walking Tour | Filipino Street Food
Join us as we take a walking tour of one of the oldest neighborhoods in Manila, Philippines. This is the Intramuros - or walled city - district dating back to the 1500s. We began our day with a delicious hearty silog breakfast. Just down the street, all within walking distance, we were able to visit the historical San Angustin Church, the Manila Cathedral, and Fort Santigo. We even walked down into the dungeons of the Fort, which definitely gave us a creepy vibe. After exploring there, we headed back to the Rizal Park area for delicious Filipino street food. Granite enjoyed deep-fried quail eggs (known as kwek-kwek) and Kelly found a palm sugar tofu treat (called Taho).

$5 Filipino Street Food Tour in Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 | Black Nazarene Night Market | Beef Pares
Our first night in Manila and it happens to be the Feast of the Black Nazarene! Millions of people crowd the streets (up to 10 million), and we happen to be right in the heart of all of it. Even amongst the crowds of people, there is definitely a sense of peace and calmness filling the streets. We have no problem navigating the streets of Manila in search of delicious street food. Filipino cuisine is rich in meat, like Beef Pares, but Kelly was still able to find corn, mangos, and peanuts roasted right on the streets of Manila. Forest discovered his favorites: hotdogs and ice cream. Of course, we go for chicken innards and even fried chicken skins. Almost every item is 20 pesos, so we find it super easy to feed our family on less than $10 dollars.
During the Festival of the Black Nazarene, thousands of people come to Quiapo Manila to celebrate the transfer of the cross from one location to another on Good Friday. This is one of the largest Christian festivals in the world. There is a festival on Friday night, and the big pilgrimage the next morning.
This is the start of an epic multi-week vacation in the Philippines! Nothing went as planned for us, but in most instances, it was even better than we had planned. We landed in Manila at the start of the huge festival (Feast of the Black Nazarene/ Poong itim na Nazareno), then we landed in Cebu at the start of another festival (Sinulog), and we ran out of time to thoroughly explore Palawan (but what we experience was amazing). We are already looking forward to our next visit to the Philippines. Join us on this adventure and send us any advice you have.

$100 LUXURY HOTEL in MANILA, PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 Flying to the Philippines
NEW COUNTRY! Join us as our family travels from Dubai to Manila! We almost didn’t get to go. For the Philippines (and probably most countries) you have to purchase your flights out of the country before they will let you enter it. We didn’t do that ahead of time, so we had to purchase them right at the check-in area at the airport. Other than that, our Philippines travel on Philippines Air went smoothly. Once in Manila, we headed to The Manila Hotel for a few nights of luxury. This hotel is historic and has a huge pool, live piano music, and a delicious buffet. On top of that, this hotel is centrally located to everything we had planned to experience over the next few days (and things we hadn’t planned on like joining the Festival of The Black Nazarene).
This is the start of an epic multi-week vacation in the Philippines! Nothing went as planned for us, but in most instances, it was even better than we had planned. We landed in Manila at the start a of huge festival, then we landed in Cebu at the start of another festival, and we ran out of time to thoroughly explore Palawan (but what we experienced was amazing). We are already looking forward to our next visit to the Philippines. Join us on this adventure and send us any advice you have.

CHEAPEST FOOD Options in DUBAI 🇦🇪 | Visiting AL KARAMA of Bur Dubai for CHEAP EATS
During our extended layover in Dubai, we had to go in search of delicious street food. In this video, we are searching for the cheapest food options in Dubai, so we headed to the Al Karama neighborhood of Bur Dubai. This is one of the older neighborhoods in Dubai. We found delicious Indian food in Dubai and Nepalese food in Dubai! Our first stop was at the Kulcha King, which is so fitting since we just left Amritsar, India! We heard that there is a delicious falafel restaurant in Al Karama, as well, but we didn’t find it. If you have a suggestion, let us know in the comments. We tend to pass through Dubai and Doha on our international flights, and we’d love suggestions for future stops in either of these cities. We end this video with chai, both flavors were delicious! Our question is, does anyone know why the one tea is called the biriyani tea?

DUBAI MALL | A day in the WORLD'S BIGGEST MALL 🇦🇪
Welcome to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates! After our visas were canceled to get into Pakistan, we decided to take a long layover in Dubai. There are many things to do in Dubai, but on this trip, we decided to stop at the world's biggest mall: The Dubai Mall. We had several things on our checklist for this luxury Dubai mall visit: Granite wanted a Shack Shack burger, Cedar wanted to go the Dubai Ice Rink, Forest wanted ice cream, and I (Kelly) needed some new travel pants. Jonathan always likes to visit the Virgin Mega Store and on this trip, he went in search of the second-floor to first-floor slides. Watch to find out if he finds that! Also, after years of eating only french fries and shakes at Shake Shack, I find a HUGE (vegetarian) surprise. This was a fun day, especially after making the long journey from India. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
We won’t be in Dubai for long, so be sure to check out Saturday’s video, too.
FUN FACT: Forest was born in Dubai! He has a birth certificate in Arabic and in English. He wasn’t able to get dual citizenship, though.

VISITING the Sikh GOLDEN TEMPLE on the BUSIEST DAY OF THE YEAR Amritsar, INDIA 🇮🇳 INDIAN STREET FOOD
Head to https://squarespace.com/bagspackedfamily to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code bagspackedfamily
Wow! You don’t want to miss this episode! I hope you are able to feel like you are here with us as we explore the famous Sikh Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar, India. It is nice and cool in India’s Punjab state. Our goal for today is to spend all day at the Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib), but before we do that we need to get some Indian street food for breakfast. We head in search of a local streetside restaurant (known as a Dhaba) because we plan to each as much kulcha (buttery stuffed bread) as we can while we are in Punjab. Our first stop is at the famous Bhai Kulwant Singh - Kulchian Wale. We had to wait a while to get a seat, but it was worth it. The food was amazing and our tummies were full when we left. Then, we went in search of headscarves (both males and females are required to cover their heads while in the temple). After that, we were ready to experience a full day at Amritsar’s Golden Temple.
In this video, Jonathan walks you through what to expect while visiting the Golden Temple: checking your shoes, entering the temple, walking around, stepping into the Amrit Sarovar water surrounding the Golden Temple, eating the Langar, exploring the food preparation area (Cedar tries to jump in and help out), receiving the (karah prasad) and more.
This is a bittersweet moment for us, as we have to say goodbye to India for now (we will be back!). Please join us on our long layover in Dubai, where we explore a variety of cuisine options!

Foreign Visitor's Guide to India's Wagah Border Ceremony in Amritsar, India 🇮🇳
We have crossed many borders on our travels, but we have never been to a border like this one! This is the Attari Wagah border between Amritsar, India, and Lahore, Pakistan. Join us as we present the foreign visitor's guide to India's Wagah Border Ceremony in Amritsar, India. This border ceremony, also known as the Beating Retreat, is performed every evening as the sun goes down. Both sides of the border put on exciting and entertaining military performances with marches, high kicks, and lots of music and chants. The ceremony is about 45 minutes long and ends with the lowering of both countries' flags. Just days before, we had planned on walking across the border from India into Pakistan. Due to an issue with the kids’ visas, we were not allowed to cross this trip. We had to change our travel plans at the last minute, but we hope to return to Pakistan. Although our time is ending in India, we still have a few more things on our list before we go!
In our next video, we are headed to the Golden Temple. Please join us!
