Battleground Baltimore: Understanding the Marilyn Mosby Indictment
Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore City State's Attorney was indicted by the federal government yesterday. Mosby was indicted on two counts perjury as well as two counts for providing false information regarding a mortgage application. According to the indictment Mosby asked to be able to take money out of her retirement. This was permitted under the 2020 CARES Act if a person has "experienced adverse financial results" during the COVID-19 pandemic. Indictment states that Mosby had a salary of almost $250,000 in 2020, and that she had received a $10,000 increase since 2019, indicating that she wasn't in financial hardship during the...
Indictment states that Mosby had a salary of almost $250,000 in 2020, and that she had received a $10,000 increase since 2019, indicating that she wasn't in financial hardship during the pandemic's early days. Mosby's request for $36,000 was granted and $45,000 was added to her December 2020 retirement. Mosby used the money indictment claims to make down payments for two Florida vacation homes with mortgages of $490,000.500 and $428,000.400. According to the indictment, Mosby did not disclose that she owed $45,000 in back taxes to the federal government when she applied. Mosby also claimed she was the primary residence of one of the homes for at least one calendar year. This allowed her to get a lower rate on her mortgage. She claimed she would be the principal resident of one Florida home, but she had already arranged a rental management agreement to let the place out. Mosby made $150,000 in profit when he sold one of the Florida homes in November 2021. The indictment states that Mosby claimed economic hardship, which her finances did not support, and that she used COVID-19-related relief to buy two Florida vacation homes, each valued at almost half-a million dollars. One of these properties was later sold for $150,000 profit. Considering her role as an elected official in Baltimore City, neither one of them would have been her primary residence. The indictment against Nick Mosby, the husband of Mosby and Baltimore City Council President, has not been filed. This means that while the Mosbys continue to solicit legal defense fund money, wealthy Baltimoreans will continue to govern as usual. Residents should trust that such donations won't have any influence on their official decision-making. It was revealed last year that both the Mosbys were under federal investigation over a variety of tax issues. Although there is not much information about the nature of this investigation, it echoes the years of corruption in Baltimore, in which the federal government investigated and convicted former Mayor Catherine Pugh, former Baltimore State Delegate Cheryl Glenn, former Baltimore Police Chief Daryl DeSousa, and a number Baltimore Police Department detectives in a criminal conspiracy. The Mosbys quickly mounted a public defense in response to the news about the investigation. They held press conferences and Black establishment leaders from both local and national, asking for public support and asking people to donate to their legal defence fund. The Mosbys didn't address potential conflicts of interests that this type of fundraising could create. The Mosbys will continue to govern as normal, even though they are soliciting money for legal defense funds from wealthy Baltimoreans. Residents should trust that these donations will not have any influence on their official decisions. This is in addition to the conflict of interests that exists by virtue of the positions of the married couple within the larger apparatus for public governance. Nick Mosby, the president of the city council, approves Marilyn Mosby's budget. The Mosbys and their supporters among the city's elites continue to argue that the Mosbys have been under attack for their progressive approach towards governance. This is in keeping with Marilyn Mosby's national reputation as a "progressive prosecutor", who in 2015 had boldly indicted...

Is there anyone who can cast 'Glee?
Fun, enjoyable, and lighthearted, Glee focused on the members of a high school glee club who enjoy covering awesome songs in front of each other inside the classroom and on stage during competitions. The show was aptly named, since scientists have repeatedly shown that the act of singing can actually make you feel happier. Sadly, fans of the show have noticed somewhat of a “Glee curse” that has affected the stars of the show. Here’s what the cast of Glee is up to now.

— bri ? (@DearBelcalis) October 17, 2021 As he continued to talk about social media even further, it didn’t take long for him to bring up someone who launched her whole career due to her commanding Instagram presence: Cardi B. “I really appreciate people who have this sort of totally second nature relationship with [social media],” he explained. “Cardi B is a great example of that. She has such an authentic relationship. To me, it is this incredibly nuanced place to be. Despite what many might judge as antics and all this, I feel like she has an incredible relationship… and that’s why people like her so much.” While we all know the rapper to be one of the biggest celebrities in the world, it seems like she doesn’t see herself that way, because she was pleasantly surprised that Penn knew who she was. These movies became popular enough to be viewed worldwide, transcending their Hong Kong roots. They featured brash fight scenes that went beyond traditional combat choreography in order to highlight the real-life Ip Man's role as a Chinese national hero. This caused some controversy.
The series featured Yen's Ip Man competing against everyone, from 'Iron Mike Tyson' to British stunt performer extraordinaire Scott Adkins. Scott Adkins played a US Marine Corps gunnery sergeant and was also seen in "Ip Man 4 : The Finale". Adkins and Yen will now appear together in "John Wick: Chapter 4", which is expected to take the Hong Kong action star further than "Ip Man." Mike Tyson may be one thing, but Baba Yaga was the man who murdered three men with a pencil in a bar. Keanu Reeves, the star of John Wick's next episode of violence, and Chad Stahelski, series director, have made a big deal about how they "took it up to another level" for John Wick's next orgy. This is a huge goal for a series which basically created its own action choreography thanks to Chad Stahelski's experience as a stunt performer, and Reeves' utterly unrelenting dedication to his combat and stunt work. The series looks to have taken things to the next level, with John Wick once again having to battle his way through seemingly endless waves of hired assassins and thugs. This is especially true for Wick's inevitable encounter with Donnie Yen’s Caine, a blind assassin sitting at the High Table council of crime lords. Try Something New Donnie Yen demonstrated his martial arts skills throughout his "Ip Man” run. He'll now be immersed in "John Wick's unique gun-fu style. John Woo, a legendary Hong Kong filmmaker, was the first to use this style. It involves gunfights interspersed in mixed martial arts. Chad Stahelski, 87Eleven Action Designer company, have taken gun-fu to a level that Woo could never have imagined.
Now it's Yen who will be taking on the "John Wick", super-charged gun-fu in a high-anticipated encounter with Keanu Reeves, the hitman. This was heavily teased in "John Wick: Chapter 4" trailer. Collider was told by Stahelski that the clash between two action movie giants forced him to step up once more.
"I can do the Donnie Yen three-legged kick. You want something more. You sit down, then you approach it from your character. There are many discussions with other guys about how Donnie does this. Keanu excels at this. Keanu is an amazing actor at this.
The "something" was basically giving Yen a sword, a pistol, and Reeves a samurai blade and a few handguns to make the big fight. Stahelski went on to explain that he added an AR-15 and a mirror room filled with Japanese artifacts, as well as "a few dogs." These elements should all come together to create a spectacular piece that draws from the gun-fu style and mixes it with the swords.
Long-Awaited Battle Donnie Yen's Caine is united with Bill Skarsgard's Marquis de Gramont in "John Wick: Chapter 4". Wick appears to be on the road to a full-on fight with the Marquis. But it's his fight against Yen that is most anticipated. Reeves, Yen and other stunt performers are among the best in martial arts and have the real-life skills and on-screen credentials to put on a memorable fight scene. Their clash was long anticipated, apparently by Chad Stahelski, who is a huge fan of both actors and still finds "John Wick: Chapter 4" exciting, even after having seen it 100 times. Stahelski was a huge fan of Yen and Reeves, so he was well-aware of their fight scenes. This gave him a unique insight into the possibilities for making this showdown special.

We're headed back to the arena, everyone! Grab your sandals and swords! Starz just announced that they are currently working on a new series called "Spartacus." Excuse the exclamation marks, but I loved every moment of this show, even the prequel "Spartacus Gods of the Arena." (Full disclosure. I am friends with many of the cast members and moderated a panel at San Diego Comic-Con for the series, but I fell in LOVE with the show before that. The series' first season was called "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", and it debuted in 2010. The prequel was created to allow Andy Whitfield to recuperate from early-stage nonHodgkin lymphoma. He died tragically. The role was recast by Liam McIntyre in season 2 ("Spartacus: Vengeance") and season 3 ("Spartacus: War of the Damned"). It was very sexually explicit, as the title suggests. It was a captivating drama about the Thracian gladiator, who led a rebellion of enslaved citizens against the Roman empire. According to the official press release the series will "explore new territory and take the characters of the original series on a new journey." Steven S. DeKnight, writer, creator and executive producer ("Daredevil," Pacific Rim: Uprising"), will serve as showrunner/executive producer. Spartacus, I am! Although Spartacus was killed in the finale, the characters were still alive at the conclusion of the third season. These events will be the basis for the new series. The official synopsis of the new series is here: The drama will be set in the aftermath of Spartacus' defeat and the rebel army. It will tell a story of treachery and deceit that unfolds under the shadow of Rome. Kathryn Busby is the President of Original Programming at Starz. She stated in a statement that "Spartacus" has not been seen by international audiences for over a decade and that Starz is thrilled to reimagine this thrilling, action-packed drama and bring it back to life for their viewers. She said, "Spartacus has deeply invested fans who are eager to see it return, and we look forwards to working with Steven [DeKnight] in this exciting next chapter." I agree as one of the most invested fans. DeKnight stated that it was an honor to be invited back to the world of Spartacus', and that STARZ and Lionsgate provided unbridled creative support. We are creating something truly original and extraordinary for the next chapter of this epic story together." Lionsgate Television will produce the new series. Karen Bailey, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Alex Alberts as Directors of Original Programming are set to supervise production for Starz. Lionsgate Television will have Scott Herbst, Executive Vice President and Head of Scripted Development, and Jocelyn Sabo as Senior Vice President of Scripted Development. It seems like the right time to rewatch the original series. Plaintiff Claims that "Heart of the Himalayas", is in India, not Pakistan (It's actually in Nepal).
As you know, the Himalaya Mountains contain most of Earth’s highest peaks. The name is said to come from the Sanskrit Himālaya, meaning “abode of the snow.” This mighty range, up to 200 miles wide, runs for about 1,500 miles from Nanga Parbat in Pakistan to Namcha Barwa in Tibet, also looming over Pakistan, China, Nepal, India, and Bhutan along the way. That would put the heart of the Himalayas somewhere in Nepal.
Or would it?

That would put the heart of the Himalayas somewhere in Nepal.
Or would it?
Mountain ranges don’t actually have hearts, because they are not animals. No, they are made of rocks and dirt. Also a lot of frozen poop, it turns out, but even around Mount Everest any given volume of mountain will consist almost entirely of rocks and dirt. Like, at least 85 percent of it. The point is, they do not have hearts.
Of course, the word “heart” can also be used in a geographical or metaphorical sense to mean the central or innermost part of something. A mountain range could have a “heart” in that sense, but how would you find it? As you may have noticed, mountain ranges tend to be irregularly shaped, so it’d be hard to find an exact center. Different people would reach different results. There’d be even less agreement over finding the metaphorical “heart” of a terrain feature. Is the “heart” of the Rockies in Colorado, or is it further to the northwest where the middle of the range would be on a map? If it’s in Colorado, is it in Denver, which has most of the people in the region and (arguably) a sports team called the “Rockies,” but isn’t actually “in” the mountains at all? Or is it three hours to the southwest in the town of Salida? That’s where Salida thinks it is. Who’s right?
Nobody. But also, nobody’s wrong, because this is a made-up thing with no objective definition. We could certainly argue about it, but no reasonable person would, for example, file a lawsuit over it.
But of course somebody has. On October 10, Stefany Mogollon sued Costco in the Southern District of New York, alleging that Costco’s “Ground Himalayan Pink Salt” product is deceptively labeled. “Himalayan salt” is apparently a thing now, for reasons I don’t claim to understand. (I did recently and coincidentally discover that Costco’s “Himalayan Salt” kettle chips are the best potato chips yet developed by the human race, though I neither know nor care whether this has anything to do with the salt itself.) Is “Himalayan salt” a real thing? Yes, depending on what you mean by that.
Salt can be found all over the planet, and I just learned the most significant source of it is in Canada, namely the Sifto Salt Mine, which is one-third of a mile under Lake Huron and produces over 7 million frigging tons of rock salt every goddamn year. But what about the Himalayas? Again, yes, depending on what you mean by that.
This term seems most often applied to salt from Pakistan’s (appropriately named) Salt Range. (The Khewra Salt Mine there is the world’s second largest.) This salt has certain trace elements that can give it a pink or reddish color, but it’s otherwise just salt. Ooh, but is it from the Himalayas? Well, arguably, no. The Salt Range is about 200 miles southwest of Nanga Parbat, which, if you were paying attention above, you know is arguably the northwest end of the Himalayas. The Salt Range consists of low mountains or high hills, so that might count, but there seems to be some more flattish space between these and the main range, so … no? But they are a raised area in the western Himalayan region, and now that I zoom in more, the flat area doesn’t look too flat, and it’s all connected underneath anyway, so … yes? Let’s move on from this question, though, because it isn’t at the heart of this lawsuit. Possibly because they realized it would be stupid to quibble about where exactly the Himalayas start and end, and because no reasonable consumer would...

There are those of us who think Michael Keaton is the best Batmanand there's an entirely different camp that might thinkVal Kilmer is the best Batman. Keaton handed the role down to Kilmer in "Batman Forever," and since then, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck have each taken turns donning the Dark Knight's cape and cowl. With "The Flash," Keaton is set to return in the role that made him famous beyond "Beetlejuice." Last year's DC FanDome teaserfor "The Flash" let us hear Keaton's voice, and with the movie speeding toward a release date later this year, it won't be long now before he's back onscreen as Batman. If you ever wondered why he left the role in the first place, a new interview with Keaton in Variety sheds some light on that. And it sounds like it had a lot to do with the tone that the late Joel Schumacher had in mind for the franchise after he took it over from director Tim Burton, who helmed "Batman" and "Batman Returns." Keaton explained: "When the director who directed the third one [approached me], I said, 'I just can't do it.' And one of the reasons I couldn't do it was — and you know, he's a nice enough man, he's passed away, so I wouldn't speak ill of him even if he were alive — he, at one point, after more than a couple of meetings where I kept trying to rationalize doing it and hopefully talking him into saying, 'I think we don't want to go in this direction, I think we should go in this direction.' And he wasn't going to budge." The Dubious Joy-Gasms Of Batman Forever Keaton is being much more diplomatic here about "Batman Forever" than he has been in the past. "Batman Returns" earned him a $10 million payday, but as CinemaBlend notes, he actually turned down a potential $15 million for "Batman Forever" because he thought the script "just was awful."Around the time that he was making a big comeback in "Birdman," he went further on record in The Hollywood Reporter(via Screencrush) to say: "It ['Batman Forever'] sucked! The script never was good. I couldn't understand why he [Schumacher] wanted to do what he wanted to do. I hung on for many meetings. I knew it was in trouble when he said, 'Why does everything have to be so dark?'" I have a vivid memory of being at the midnight movie premiere of "Batman Forever" back in 1995.At the time, it was a big event in my young life and I liked the movie enough to buy action figures based on it and to go around wearing a T-shirt with the Riddler's green question mark on it afterward. Of course, reams have since been written deriding the rubber-nipple aesthetic of it and Schumacher's follow-up, "Batman and Robin," but when you're a kid (or a kid at heart), you don't know any better. Revisiting some of Jim Carrey's Riddler scenes last year while writing about the character's historymade me cringe. I don't think it's aged well, or maybe I just haven't aged well and am now a jaded adult who can't enjoy simple "joy-gasms," as Carrey calls them. As for the Riddler, he'll be making his return this March in Matt Reeves' "The Batman." Duchess Meghan contributes a statement on Judge Brown Jackson’s SCOTUS nomination
Every year that goes by, I get angrier and angrier that Clarence Thomas ended up on the Supreme Court. He was a serial sexual harasser, married to a treasonous wingnut who clearly supported the January 6th insurrection. Thomas needs to be yanked off the bench and his wife needs to go to jail. Over time, Anita Hill has become a very real folk hero for intersectional feminism. As Thomas’s reputation plummeted over time, Anita Hill became more and more respected and honored for her work. Anita Hill has written a wonderful essay about what Joe Biden’s SCOTUS nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson, likely the first Black woman to sit on the highest court, means for her and for all Black women. Ms. Hill asked Black female jurists and prominent Black women to share their thoughts, and wouldn’t you know, the Duchess of Sussex contributed a statement: In considering the gravity of how this announcement must feel to so many, I thought of moments in modern history where Black women of stature and credential entered arenas once thought to be inaccessible. I was recently able to connect with one of these women – Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex – and while her role over the past few years hasn’t been that of a federal judge or elected official, I couldn’t help but see a measure of parallelism given her experience navigating uncharted territory as a Black woman. “The civil rights history of tomorrow is being written today,” she said to me. “Judge Jackson’s nomination has opened new ground for women’s representation at the highest level of a judicial system that for too long has tilted against the very community she hails from. For the millions of young women who will rightfully find inspiration from this moment, let’s remind ourselves that Black achievement is something that exists not just today or yesterday, and not just in moments of celebration, but as a fabric woven into the entire chronicle of the American story.”
With this announcement, every girl and young woman can hold their heads higher and with more confidence. Jackson’s achievement can be the example of the seemingly improbable becoming the possible that changes the way they think about their own potential. Jackson said that she hoped to inspire all young girls. And former President Barack Obama assured her that she had when he tweeted that the nominee had “already inspired young Black women like my daughters to set their sights higher.”
[From URL Media]
“…At the highest level of a judicial system that for too long has tilted against the very community she hails from…” I know Meghan wrote that out, so it’s bugging me because it should be “at the highest level of a judicial system which, for too long, has tilted against the very community from which she hails.” Nitpicky, my bad. I mean, I make that mistake a million times a day too. The message is what’s important, which is that while Judge Brown Jackson’s nomination is so significant and so important, the contributions of the Black community – and specifically Black women – have been overlooked and written out of the narratives of the American project. Anyhoodle, can’t wait for Salt Islanders to throw a hissy fit about Political Meg again. Andrew Garfield Said Being on Set with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire Was Quite Special (and Hilarious).
At long last, the time for lies is over! Andrew Garfield has been freed from the shackles of Marvel secrecy and now that he's no longer forced to lie directly to our faces, he can talk about his thrilling appearance in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." This means a couple of very important things are finally in play: first, we can spend all our time showering Garfield with much deserved praise for being the funniest and most loveable part of the movie. Second, we can hear all the fun on-set gossip! The "Amazing Spider-Man" actor is already kickstarting the second, as he recently sat down to chat with Variety about working with the other live-action Peter Parkers, Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. Be warned, Garfield's gets specific about the filming experience so the rest of this article contains spoilers for "Spider-Man: No Way Home." The Spider-Meme Came To Life You know that rush of excitement we all felt when three different iterations of Spider-Man were swinging in unison to take down (i.e. save) the bad guys? Turns out the cast felt it, too. Except ... imagine the same scene minus the web-swinging and the dramatic backdrop of a boss battle on the outskirts of New York. In fact, just imagine a movie set and three actors strolling around in costume. It sounds a little less exciting until you remember that the actors in question are Garfield, Maguire, and Holland, the Spider-Men of the past decades finally on the verge of sharing the screen. According to Garfield, it went in a pretty meme-tacular direction: I think the first time we were all in the suit together, it was hilarious because it's like just three ordinary dudes who were just actors just hanging out. But then also, you just become a fan and say, "Oh my god we're all together in the suits and we're doing the pointing thing!" While the meme-inspired pointing is certainly the most important thing the three did on set, they also shared in some hilarious conversations. It actually mirrors one of the funniest moments in "No Way Home," when the three Peters start comparing stories and Tobey's ability to shoot webs directly from his body becomes a subject of morbid fascination. In place of such odd, biology-defying abilities, our Spider-Man actors compared suits: "There was talk about going to the bathroom and, you know, padding around the package. We talked about what worked for each of us. Tom was jealous because I have little zippers in my suit that I can get my hands out of very easily. To work his phone, he had to use his nose because he couldn't access his hands. We would have deeper conversations, too, and talk about our experiences with the character." The Love Of A Spider-Bro Prepare yourselves, because this next bit is the most Andrew Garfield-esque thing I've ever heard in my life. It turns out that he improvised one of his most memorable lines in the movie, when obvious middle-child Peter bursts out to tell his fellow Spider-Bros that he loves them. Garfield shared: "There's a line I improvised in the movie, looking at [Maguire and Holland] and I tell them I love them. That was just me loving them." The Amazing Spider-Man is back and (unsurprisingly) he's swinging for the fences! This has always been true of Garfield as a performer, clearly represented by an illustrious 2021, where he starred in two back-to-back releases, "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" and "Tick, Tick... BOOM!" The latter has a particular sheen of excitement around it, earning Garfield some well-deserved Oscar buzz for his leading role, but his talents aren't just reserved for award contenders. Garfield brought similar depth to his initial outing as Spidey many years ago and keeps it going with his grand return. This time, he had Maguire and Holland to bounce off of, and their dynamic fed into their characters: "We talked a lot a...

(Welcome to Where to Watch, which provides a clear and simple answer to the question, "Hey, where can I watch this thing?" In this edition: "Star Trek: the Next Generation") "Star Trek: The Next Generation" debuted in 1987 as what would eventually make-good on the promise of Gene Roddenberry's 1966 original. After leaving the air after an inauspicious three seasons, the original "Star Trek" would find a second life in syndication, and a growing legion of fans would slowly form around the show, eventually gathering at conventions to trade trivia and merchandise. As these conventions continued throughout the 1970s, actors from the show would begin making appearances at these cons, and Roddenberry himself would begin going on speaking tours, conversing with the fans and codifying — to the fans and to himself — the show's themes of optimism, positive views on technology, and progressive politics. After Roddenberry was locked out of the "Star Trek" feature films in the 1980s, he wanted to come back to TV with a "proper" version of Trek, complete with a diverse cast, more conflict-free stories, and a more carefully thought-out philosophy and continuity. Thus was born "StarTrek: The Next Generation," a TV series with two rocky seasons, four excellent ones, and one that's up for debate. Star Trek Is Still Everywhere As has been previously mentioned in the hallowed pages of this venerable website, "Star Trek" is everywhere. The entire series run of "The Next Generation" is currently available to subscribers of Paramount+ (natch),Netflix, Prime Video, andHulu. Subscribers to DirecTV also have access to scattered episodes from seasons four, five, and six (arguably the best ones). You can also buy and download the series from Amazon, and AppleTV/iTunes (where it's $2.99 an episode, $29.99 per season), or the Google Play store and Vudu (where it's $1.99 per episode, $29.99 per season). If you prefer physical copies, boy howdy, does "NextGen" have you covered. Starting in 1991, the show was issued by Paramount (in the United States), episode by episode on VHS. This was a dream for collectors, but a headache for those trying to save shelf space. That same year, Columbia House (remember them?) offered a mail-order subscription service which offered larger, cleaner packaging and two episode per cassette. As the years went on, and the series only increased in popularity, specialty box sets were issued, including a box set with all the Borg episodes, a box with four notable Data episodes, and a two-in-one box that featured only the first and last episodes of the series. When it came to DVDs in the U.S., "The Next Generation" was initially released in 2002, with each full season boxed in a very keen, looks-great-on-a-shelf silver package. These DVDs were highly coveted and came with a sizeable price tag. In 2006, once all seven seasons had been released, they were packaged together in a large cardboard trough. In 2013, the same DVDs were released again, only this time with less interesting box art -- each season sported a stylized portrait of one of the main characters -- and slimmer, plastic cases. If none of those editions were appealing, a large green brick containing the entire series released in 2007 (in honor of the show's 20th anniversary), which wasn't nearly as gorgeous as the Borg Cube set released in England in 2003. The Updated Blu-Rays But VHS and DVD are formats of the past, old man. Where's the HD-DVD or Blu-ray editions? After the success of the 2006 Blu-ray remasterings of the original series (wherein the show's special effects needed to be redone digitally as the original FX masters were, in many cases, no longer viable), CBS decided to do the same with "Next Generation" in 2012. There was a mi...

Melinda Dillon, a star of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", and "A Christmas Story," died last month at the tender age of 83. Her family announced that she had died on January 9, 2023. Dillon enjoyed a varied career on stage and screen. She worked with many of the greatest directors of her time, including Hal Ashby and Bob Clark, George Roy Hill and Sydney Pollack, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson and Mike Binder. Dillon was the original Honey in "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" In 1963, she performed a performance that would win her a Tony nomination. She then took a break from performing due to mental health reasons. Dillon spoke candidly to The New York Times in 1976 about the pressures of New York theater, the birth of her son, and her experiences with miscarriages. She sought treatment at a mental hospital and returned to Broadway with "You Know, I Can't Hear you When the Water's Running." and other memorable roles in Hollywood movies. It is important to note that mental health was not something that was often discussed back then or now. Dillon's willingness and ability to openly discuss her struggles as she was launching her career was remarkable. Movie Mom For All Cinephiles She will always be my movie mother to me thanks to movies like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," and "Harry and the Hendersons." This was the first time I saw Dillon on screen. She exuded that caring, exhausted, but slightly goofy energy that every child wants in a mother. Dillon isn't the type of actress who disappears into the background to be just "the wife" and "the mom," even though most of her roles fall within these categories. Dillon was able quietly to inject realistic emotion into her characters. And, even more important, she could do it with humor. This is an excellent example of this. Ralphie saw her as the barrier between his Red Ryder BB gun and her beloved Red Ryder BB gun. This could have made her look evil, but Mrs. Parker is sweet and supportive. You even see glimpses of her playful relationship with "The Old Man", aka her husband, played by the late great Darren McGavin. It was amazing to see how she got Randy, her little brother, to eat his mashed potatoes. Or how she covered up for Ralphie after Scut Farkus beat him. Dillon did a great job of fleshing out the story. More than a Mom Her performances were rich and complex, which she may not have received enough praise from movie-goers. She is a great performer when it comes to these roles. Her quiet pain in "Magnolia", the shock she experiences as the mother of an abducted boy in "Close Encounters," and her heartbreaking turn in Sydney Pollack’s "Absence Of Malice" are prime examples. It shows in her work that she studied with Lee Strasberg, a well-known actor teacher. Another great example of her ability to bring complexity to her roles is "Slap Shot". Although "Slap Shot" may be a vulgar hockey comedy but her character is refreshingly out-of-place: a sexually progressive women whose ex is a violent homophobe. He beat her up after he discovered she was having an affair with another woman. This character is a saving grace in a movie that takes a lot of gay panic stereotypes and tries to make them relevant. It's mainly due to the fact that Dillon was so good at her job. Melinda Dillon was an interesting and complex woman who brought a few classics to the screen. She will be greatly missed. Lawyer for Cop who Shot Wheelchair-Bound Man in Back: My Client "Had no Non-Lethal Options"
It may sometimes be important to make at least some kind of public statement in a high-profile case. But have you considered not doing that? Are you sure you’ve considered that option fully? I strongly suggest you do.
And if you must speak, consider the option “I have no comment,” which of course is a comment but not one you will get in trouble for. More experienced attorneys may deploy the more advanced version, “I have no comment at this time,” which suggests you might have some currently non-public information that is favorable to your client that you will reveal...
More experienced attorneys may deploy the more advanced version, “I have no comment at this time,” which suggests you might have some currently non-public information that is favorable to your client that you will reveal at some indefinite time in the future (like when you come up with some). Or perhaps utter a request that the public “not rush to judgment,” which suggests the foregoing a little more strongly. But in my view, your default should be silence or a simple “no comment.”
Then you won’t say words like those in the headline, which were emitted yesterday by the Tucson attorney representing a now-former-police-officer who was terminated for use of excessive force. Because the officer used force on Monday night and was an ex-officer by Tuesday, you might think the allegations were fairly egregious. And you would be correct: The man killed, 61-year-old Richard Lee Richards, was in a motorized wheelchair at the time and had brandished a knife, but had his back to the officer at the time of the shooting…. According to [Chief] Magnus, the [store] employee said he caught up with Richards as he fled the store and asked for a receipt for items he was carrying, to which Richards brandished a knife and replied “Here’s my receipt,” before continuing toward the Lowe’s garden-section entrance. [Officer] Remington followed after Richards across the parking lot and then into the nearby Lowe’s parking lot. As Richards continued, he apparently also said that if police wanted him to drop the knife, they would have to shoot him. At that point, Remington was joined by another officer, and both followed Richards toward the Lowe’s. Both yelled for Richards to stop as he reached the garden-section entrance before Remington fired his weapon nine times, striking Richards in the back and side, before he fell from his wheelchair. That report from the Arizona Daily Star also has a video of the incident, which you can also see here at CBS News, as part of a clip in which at least one commentator does his best not to rush to judgment. And I should say that according to the defense attorney, the video that has been released so far is “only about 20%” of the incident. But since the existing 20% shows his client shooting a guy in a wheelchair nine times in the back as he rolls away, it seems unlikely that the other 80% is going to hold any surprises.
In the ex-officer’s favor, the man was armed with a knife, was disobeying commands, had said that he would not give up the knife without being shot, and was rolling into a garden center in which he might conceivably have posed a threat to someone even less mobile than himself. On the other hand, the man was armed with only a knife, was in a wheelchair, was rolling slowly in the other direction, and does not appear to have been immediately threatening anyone at the time he was shot.
He was apparently suspected of having stolen a toolbox, but even factoring that in, these don’t seem like great facts for arguing that the use of deadly force was justified.
The Tucson Police Department seems to agree with that analysis, having fired the shooter within 24 hours of the incident. “I am disturbed and troubled by Officer Remington’s actions,” the chief said, calling this use of deadly force “a clear violation of department policy,” which evidently frowns upon shooting invalids in the back. “Unconscionable,” said the mayor, and that’s also bad.
What about possibly using a Taser? you may be asking. W...

Howard Stern asked Jonah Hill in late 2018 about his experience working with Martin Scorsese for "The Wolf of Wall Street". Hill responded enthusiastically to Hill's praises of the veteran filmmaker. Scorsese is without doubt one of the most important living directors. Hill says that a lot of it has to do with his ability problem-solve. Hill said that directing is about solving problems constantly. He claimed to have seen Scorsese solve a complex problem in his 30 seconds. Scorsese was well-versed in filmmaking, having been around since the 1970s. He knew what he wanted and how he could make it happen. Unprecedented behind-the scenes footage shows that Scorsese approached his crime thriller drama starring Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio with cool equanimity. He demonstrated with every calmly spoken direction that he was a master of his craft. It is a remake partly of "Infernal Affairs", a 2002 Hong Kong movie. However, it was also inspired by the Boston Winter Hill Gang. Jack Nicholson was Frank Costello's mafia boss, which was inspired by Whitey Bulger (an Irish-American gangster). Costello (Damon) places one of his men within the Massachusetts State Police. Sullivan is forced to play a tense game of cat-and mouse with Billy Costigan (DiCaprio), an undercover State Trooper who is embedded in Costello’s gang. It's a fascinating and possibly complicated story. It all works out wonderfully, thanks to Scorsese's problem-solving skills. When Scorsese sat down and edited the entire thing, "The Departed", almost lost his hand. "I'll figure it out later" William Monahan, scribe to "Kingdom of Heaven", wrote "The Departed", which contains all the classic Scorsese themes. It's full of guilt, greed, murder, and jealousy. It all seems to have happened on set. The director encouraged actors to improvise and collaborated with Monahan to adapt their scripts as they shot. Quentin Tarantino, a fellow film geek, spoke to Quentin Tarantino about how he had to add four days to his shoot due to the script constantly changing. "We kept changing it in the middle of filming. I continued to work with Bill Monahan, and everyone rewriting stuff. It became so complicated that my continuity person asked me, "Where do you want the new scene [that] just arrived in?" It got so complicated that my continuity person asked, "Where do you want this new scene [that] just came in?" I replied, "Put it in between everything else." It will be figured out later. Jack Nicholson seemed to like Martin Scorsese’s flexibility. He was open to the possibility to improvise. He once asked the prop master for a gun to be hidden on set so that he could use it against Leonardo DiCaprio in a tension scene. He also participated in the rewriting process. He added his unique and disturbing dialogue to scenes. It was not surprising that there were too many scenes in the edit bay. This made it difficult to complete the entire process. Scorsese said to Tarantino that it felt like they were trying to wrangle six wild horses. He and editor Thelma Schoonmaker. The pair were able to control the situation and create a film that earned Scorsese his only Oscar win for best director. Heavy Lies from The Crown It is important to note that "The Departed," is not an exception. Martin Scorsese was always open to actors being able to improvise or tweak a script while on set. Variety's Jack Nicholson said in 2007 that Scorsese is open to allowing actors to improvise and tweak a script on set. His films have a sense of spontaneity and grounded reality that gives them a real feeling, even when they portray outrageous behavior. Scorsese's ability to adapt scenes as needed may have been a problem in editing "The Departed", but it seems that it paid off in the end. There's much to love about William Monahan’s script, but, as...

The second-place candidate... claims that the victor... violated the Local Government Act by vote buying and voter intimidation and seeks an injunction requiring a new election .... My view is that, except for exceptional circumstances, no reasonable voter could be persuaded to vote differently by the mere offering of a cup or a cinnamon bun. Michetti v. Veach, 2023 BCSC 43 (Jan. 10, 2023). The violent attack on the United States' legislature seems to have temporarily saved democracy (as it is). This story shows that democracy is vulnerable in all places, but perhaps less so when election-rigging allegations involve bribing votes with cinnamon buns. Two (2) buns were provided by Danielle Veach, a mayoral candidate, to potential voters at a Pouce Coupe "Tea and Talk” event. Veach defeated Lorraine Michetti by only two percentage points (32.2%) to 30.2%). Two percent is the margin Hillary Clinton held over what's her name. But in Canada, the person with the most votes wins. (The Electoral College, which I should remind you isn't actually an institution for higher learning--has only awarded the presidency to two larger losers: Rutherford B. Hayes (3.0%) or John Quincy Adams (10.4 %).)). The margin was even more significant because only 261 out of 800 Pouce Coupe citizens voted. This means that the absolute margin was only five votes. The court stated in its January 10 opinion that Pouce Coupe had been "the subject of many political firestorms well beyond its size." This includes the time Michetti sued the mayor of the village and an administrator for libel. Michetti was elected to succeed him. The mayor resigned later. In 2018, she was elected to a full four year term. Michetti posted some controversial posts on social media in the early 2021. The council censured Michetti. She won the court challenge. Two new members of the council were elected shortly thereafter. One of them was Danielle Veach. Veach also brought another motion for censure. This was also passed but was later reversed. Veach then decided to run for mayor. This was the beginning of Tea and Talk. Veach reviewed an official election guide before scheduling the event. It stated that "meet-and-greet" events were fine, but that "incentives" may not be. It was section 161 of 2015's Local Government Act that made it illegal to "pay or lend, or procure inducement" to induce someone to vote. The law defines inducement as "money, gift or valuable consideration", refreshment, entertainment and office. The guide then provided a poorly written example that involved coffee. Vote-buying is the act of buying coffee for customers or driving an elector to the polls in return for their vote. These activities are allowed provided that there is no implied or explicit obligation for the elector to vote in favor of a particular candidate. Veach advertised her event by saying that they could enjoy tea or coffee and a cinnamon bun, ask questions and get to know her. Although it's unclear how many people attended the event, Veach later admitted that she purchased refreshments for some of them and distributed five (5) drinks as well as two (2) cinnamon buns. Veach purchased six (6) buns, but she ended up bringing four [(4)] home for her family. Veach won the election by five votes over Michetti a month later. Michetti filed suit against Veach, claiming she had "intimidated voters" by making false statements at campaign events and that Veach's provision of coffee and cinnamon buns was illegal "vote buying." A hearing was held by the court in which at least eight witnesses gave evidence. The matter, which you may remember, concerned a local election where only 261 voters voted. The witnesses to Michetti and Veach included the owner and three possible voters who attended the "Tea and Talk" event. The cou...

Anyone who has been following their family for a long time probably already knew she was going to answer with a story about North, given her history of full-blown sass, and that’s exactly what we got. According to the mother of four, North goes right to the big insults when she gets upset. “Every time I get into some kind of disagreement with my daughter North, she thinks this is a dig to me: She’ll say, ‘Your house is so ugly, it’s all white! Who lives like this?’” Kardashian explained. “She just thinks it, like, gets to me, and it is kind of mean because I like my house.” This answer from the Skims founder was especially funny to fans given just how much scrutiny KimYe have gotten from the public due to their all-white, sparsely decorated house. It’s even funnier to find out a kid like North–who has been living in lavish houses like this her entire life–still knows it’s not normal.

This article contains spoilers about "Poker Face" Episode 5. Rian Johnson's Peacock series, "Poker Face," has a lot of fun with original murder mysteries that end before each episode ends. It is similar to "Murder, She Wrote", or "Columbo", but Natasha Lyonne does her own mystery-solving magic. Each episode is different and Johnson only directed a few episodes. He also hired some highly skilled people to take over the helming duties. Episode 5, "Time of the Monkey", finds Charlie Cale (Lyonne), working in a nursing home. She is on the run from sinister criminals as well as the cops. It's a dark 1970s-flavored delight courtesy of Lucky McKee, horror director. Johnson's other murder mysteries are quite different in tone from "Poker Face." It's lighter and more funny than "Brick", but not as satirical or as amusing as "Knives Out" and "Glass Onion." There is a little bit of a tightrope between the dark humor, the horror of the murders, and who better than the man who directed and wrote "May," a classic contemporary horror film? If you haven't seen "May" yet and like horror, you should. McKee is a master of horror. He even directed an episode of Mick Garris’ "Masters of Horror" series. His genre-inspired touch made "Time of the Monkey", the best episode of Poker Face yet. King Of Directing Killer Women The series' most sinister villains, "Time of the Monkey", features Joyce Harris (S. Epatha Melkerson) and Irene Smothers(Judith Light). These two hilarious felons grow cannabis in their closets and appear to be the coolest women on the planet. However, when you learn that they attempted to kill prep school students with homemade crockpot bombs, it is a shocking revelation. After a long battle Joyce and Irene almost kill Charlie, but they do manage to kill two more people before being caught. They are both frightening and surprisingly friendly, which McKee is known for. McKee's debut feature, "May", stars Angela Bettis playing May, a socially awkward, outcast woman who struggles to make friends and fetishizes other people's bodies. Bettis's performance was amazing, but McKee's direction and script portray her as a sympathetic character, even though she is horrific. His movies often feature a wicked woman, whether it's Pollyanna McIntosh in "The Woman", or the spellcasting sisters at the heart of "All Cheerleaders Die". McKee is able to transform even the most evil woman into a fully-formed character. This makes McKee a master of the art of making women look real. There are many movies and shows about male antiheroes. It's always exciting to see more women get their chance at being villains. Charlie Challenged by Charismatic Killers "Time of the Monkey," opens with 1970s-style credits. The flower-power sunglasses don't even come off. It's a wonderful throwback that doesn't feel forced. There are timeless songs, cinematography that harkens back at the glory days of "Columbo", and many visual delights that remind the audience that the 1970s were never over. Charlie initially finds himself drawn to their retro rebellion. Joyce and Irene are old ladies goals. Except for the murder/attempted terrorist part. Both Merkerson and Light have been serialized procedural pros for many years. Merkerson starred in "Law Order" over the years while Light was a recurring character on "Law Order: SVU". But this time, they get to be villains and not just law and order. They are clearly having fun being the baddies, and McKee's direction allows them to do so in a safe and secure environment. Nora Zuckerman, co-showrunner of "Poker Face," explained to Variety that Charlie and the audience should like Joyce and Irene first. This makes McKee's cinematic abilities even more important. "You want her friends with these beautiful women, and to ride or die with them. But instead, they break your...

The trade reports that Disney is "widely searching" for the ideal actresses to bring Lilo (and her sister Nani) to life. Disney has not commented on casting so we don’t know if Galifianakis or an alien like Jumba Jookiba and Pleakley will be speaking for Stitch. He could be playing a completely new character.
This is the most recent news about the live-action remake. Production had been slowing down due to lack of updates. The creative team is working hard to make the production as successful as possible. It's not surprising that "Lilo Stitch", a Disney+ exclusive, is still being produced. In an effort to balance the company's theatrical and streaming output, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed plans to restructure the company's approach. It's disappointing that "Lilo Stitch" is not being released theatrically, given its popularity and financial success. Despite this, filming has not yet begun so there is still plenty of time for changes to the release plans. What We Know About Lilo Stitch Galifianakis is the only actor currently attached to "Lilo Stitch", but it's possible that other actors will be announced in future. Some of the creatives who will be remaking the animated film for a new audience are known to us. Dean Fleischer Camp is the director of "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On", an incredibly charming animated feature that has been nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar. The Hollywood Reporter states that Stitch will not be a stop motion creation like Marcel. Instead, he will be rendered using CGI.
Although the original "Lilo Stitch", was true to the Hawaiian culture, it did not have enough Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) creative input. It won't be that way with the remake. Chris Kekaniokalani Bright was its sole screenwriter. This will hopefully be extended to other aspects, including the casting of Lilo or Nani. Ryan Halprin, Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin are the producers currently.

She shows her invention to Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), a grown-up Cassie Lang who accidentally transports the Ant-Family to the Quantum Realm, an infinite, microscopic universe that defies time and space laws.
"Quantumania", which is not only the beginning of Phase 5, but also a introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Kang the Conqueror, Jonathan Majors, and the next chapter in the Multiverse Saga. As with any Marvel movie, there were always plans and ambitions that changed. A set photo taken by a child actor was recently posted online. Many speculated that there was an deleted scene in which Hope's children were involved. These theories turned out to be correct.
Jeff Loveness, screenwriter for "Quantumania", spoke to Film's Ethan Anderton about deleted scenes in the film. He specifically mentioned the scene with Hope and her children that was cut from the film.
"Oh, yes [...] There are always plot lines and things that don't work in the flow of the movie. I don't know what I can say because I may pick up some of it later. But that was part the multiversal engine core that is the probability storm part. Hope would have seen visions of her alternate lives For those who don't know, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfieffer), was trapped in the Quantum Realm for many years. She helped Kang to build a multiverse transport device. After realizing that Kang had darker motives, she demolished the multiversal engine core with Pym Particles. Kang offers Cassie safety in exchange for Scott's participation in the power core. Scott must brave the probability storm, which is one of the most memorable sequences in the film. Scott must drown out all manifestations of his possible choices. This cleverly mirrors the end of "Antz", a 1998 animated movie.
Jeff Loveness says that Hope was supposed to have a unique experience when she tried to save Scott from the probabilistic storm. Loveness said that Scott's experience was more like a Schrodinger's cat. "Hope's original had a little more psychological element. It was like she was hitting the fumes from the multiverse and catching glimpses of things. Scott was down below her in the storm's upper strata.
Hope would receive visions of her future, alternate lives and her doubles instead of seeing them physically manifest before her. This is where Hope and her children would have been. It's Very Possible That We Haven't Completed With The Ant-Fam It's quite compelling that Scott and Hope experience two distinct phenomena during the probability storm. So why didn’t it make the final cut. Jeff Loveness admitted that it was too much information to be digested at once.
"But it was ultimately a little confusing. It was confusing, like why do they have two completely different events? It's my fault for not being clear enough as a writer. [Evangeline] Lilly did an amazing job. There are many good Hope things that I think I will explore in the future. Evangeline is a very expressive actress and has a lot of emotion. It was fantastic, but I'm partially responsible. That's my fault. It was easier to simplify it to include more of the fun sequence. This made it in.
It's unfortunate that Hope only made it to the end of Quantumania, despite sharing half the film's title. The film covers a lot of ground, but it's already too long. It's easy to see why Loveness didn't think it was worth it. The movie contained material that could have made the film feel less essential than it was. This is only the beginning of the Multiverse Saga....

The Board Refuses to Allow Tiger Sanctuary in Tents One Block from the Vegas Strip
The Board Refuses to Allow Tiger Sanctuary in Tents One Block from the Vegas Strip
So this was on the agenda of the Town Advisory Board meeting last week in Winchester, Nevada, within which, as you may know, part of the Las Vegas Strip is located: That image may be a little blurry, so let me just call out a few of the most important phrases for you: “inherently dangerous exotic animals,” “not within a permanently enclosed building,” “fabric structure (tent),” and “on-premises consumption of alcohol.”

Those are probably all the facts you need to make a decision on this one, but there’s one more relevant phrase that might require a little explanation: “the east side of Paradise Road and the south side of Sahara Avenue.” That appears to mean what’s now a parking lot just southeast of that intersection. (It appears to be owned by Buddhists.) As you can see in the image above, that is just one block from the Strip, an area that by the time this project was complete might again be crowded with slow, plump tourists who have spent all day marinating in something or other. But then that’s one of the great things about Vegas: the all-you-can-eat buffets.
This superb idea is, perhaps not too surprisingly, the brainchild of a magician, who uses tigers in his act in some way the report does not explain. Jay Owenhouse wants to bring his three tigers from Montana, where they apparently reside now, to Las Vegas for a show that would last 12 months, if not suddenly cut short by some unforeseeable event. To be fair, this report says the plan includes two “containment areas” for the tigers, surrounded by an 11-foot barbed wire fence. Also, “if a tiger were to escape,” it continues, “police and the school district would … be notified immediately.” That’s good to know, although it seems doubtful the response time would be less than it takes a tiger to run a block.
Apart from safety concerns, tiger people pointed out that the planned “containment areas” are only 900 square feet, a space barely adequate for a law-firm associate and certainly not enough for a ginormous jungle cat. [EDIT: I was thinking of living space when I wrote that, not office space; as a number of people (most likely partners) have pointed out, numerous associates could be kept in an office containment area measuring 900 square feet.] The word “sanctuary” hardly seems to apply, as objectors pointed out at the board meeting. For that reason, too, most of those who attended the meeting were opposed to the plan. (There are probably some good nuggets in the audio of the meeting, which is available on the board’s webpage, but the quality isn’t great, and I noticed the recording is two hours long, so that’s not happening tonight.) The result, in any event, was that the board voted to recommend against approving the magician’s proposed inherently-dangerous-exotic-animal exhibition just a block from the Las Vegas Strip.
This is not the end of the matter, however. The board can only make recommendations; the county commission has the final say, and will take up the issue at its December 22 meeting. That should be another lively debate (which hopefully will be transcribed and not just recorded), but I wouldn’t bet on the outcome being any different.

“You’ve got an impressive slate of candidates,” Brian Manookian said on December 8 to a panel considering applications for a Tennessee Supreme Court seat. “Judge [Kelvin] Jones is not one of them.” Manookian gave a number of reasons for this, only one of which involved Jones’s admission that he buried $100,000 in his backyard to hide it from creditors.
Jones has been a judge in Davidson County, Tennessee, since 2014. His wife filed for divorce, and Jones was deposed in that case in July 2020. As you might expect, many of the questions in that deposition had to do with financial matters, and many of Jones’s answers were interesting. Which is sometimes not a good thing for answers to be.
Several of these answers involved the buried cash. This came up in connection with documents showing “various large deposits” to a bank account, cash deposits totaling more than $190,000. The wife’s lawyer was interested in learning where that cash might have come from, and noted that in discovery responses Jones said only that it came from “cash on hand.” Noting “that doesn’t really tell us very much,” the lawyer inquired further.
At first Jones did not seem entirely sure, but then recalled he had kept about $100k in a CD in various banks at various times, which he used for expenses related to investment property. He would withdraw a few thousand at a time when necessary, he said. Why not just keep that in a regular account? Jones explained that “in business, you don’t want to have a lot of cash in accounts because the state at some point, if you’re going to owe a bill for your hotel, can come in and garnish your account. So I didn’t want to have that much cash in an account.”
I don’t claim to be a financial expert, but as I recall there are penalties for early withdrawals from a CD, and I’m not aware of a reason the state or another creditor couldn’t garnish or seize money in a CD. Also, even if this explanation made sense, Jones had testified that the value of the CD was only about half the amount of the mystery deposits. Might there be another place from which he had dug up this cash, the lawyer asked? Turns out there was: his backyard. I bought one of these Survivor tubs [Jones testified]. It has a top that screws on, … and it’s insulated, waterproof. It’s sealed. And that particular container, … had over a hundred thousand dollars in it. And it was buried in the ground right outside of our master bedroom…. The lawyer then followed up with some insightful questions about exactly how this worked: Q. So you just dig a big hole in the ground and you put it in? A. That’s correct. Q. So when you put the money in or whatever you have in there, you just put dirt over it? A. That’s correct. Q. How deep down do you put it? A. I probably had—it’s probably this tall [sic]. Q. Do you put grass on top of it or put it in a flower bed? I’m just curious. These are the kinds of questions you ask when the witness just told you something surprising and you’re still processing it. I mean, the basic process of burying something is pretty well documented at this point.
Sixty pages or so later, the cash-deposits-and-buried-treasure issue resurfaced. It appears that the judge took out a big loan so he could invest in a hotel project. The hotel opened in 2008—right before the recession—and it failed a year or two later. The bank foreclosed and the judge was left owing about $700,000. He testified that for years, he would try to settle the debt for some smaller amount, telling the bank he didn’t have any money. (According to one report, the bank was garnishing his judicial salary at the time.) Finally, they said they would take $150,000, the judge testified. A. And I said— Q. “Let me go dig up that cash”? A. I said, “Okay, that’s a deal.” As you can see, he did not say “let me go dig up that cash,” possibly...
