The YT Capra has been the Enduro bike in YT’s lineup - and perhaps their most renowned bike - for some time now, always representing great value but never lacking in performance. As the years have gone on, YT has pushed the performance of the Capra higher and higher, and these days their flagship models are undoubtedly amongst the top performers on the market. But, YT hasn’t forgotten about their value minded roots, and recently updated their entry level spec - the Capra Core 1 - which comes in at just $2,699. They say it “keeps the cost low but the stoke high”, and we have absolutely no reason to disagree thus far. If you caught last year’s eMTB Shootout you may remember the longer travel SCOR 4060 Z LT review. This year we were excited to see just how fun and playful the LT’s little brother, the SCOR 4060 Z ST (Short Travel) would be. The SCOR 4060 Z ST XT is the model we received for our 2023 eMTB Shootout, it is a 140mm travel eBike variant of their analogue 4060 ST, equipped with a Shimano EP8 motor and a pair of 29” wheels. Spread across the unassuming German city of Koblenz are the headquarters and facilities of a brand that has been growing rapidly both in size and presence in the cycling world - Canyon bicycles. As a direct sales powerhouse, it was difficult for us to imagine what was going on behind the doors of the Canyon buildings in Germany, so our crew was very excited to pay them a visit to film this Behind The Brand feature and get some insight into the characters making it happen behind the scenes. From their Koblenz showroom and demo center named “Canyon Home”, through their test labs, factory, and “Pro Sports division” where they manage their huge roster of sponsored athletes, it was a very interesting trip and left us with some elevated appreciation of the Canyon brand and product. Canyon has a keen focus on innovation and performance, which was evident throughout our visit. From their use of tech in their quality control, to the processes they’ve developed to improve efficiency in their factory, there was a lot to impress us along the way. But even more impressive was the passion that we felt from the characters we spoke to - all with the same enthusiasm about their jobs and bikes in general. Of course, we had to sample their local trails, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise, but had our hearts pounding as we tried to stay rubber side down in the slick mud while following the Canyon employee shredders who joined us.
