To Build A Fire: Part - 6
You can buy Coghlan's Storm Matches here: https://amzn.to/3xiVEu1
This series, To Build A Fire, has been inspired by a book of the same name, by Jack London. In Part - 6 I've come full circle back to Coghlan's Matches. I tried their waterproof matches in the first video and it was a bust. They just couldn't stay lit long enough for me to get a fire going. These Storm Matches, windproof and waterproof, proved much better...

To Build A Fire: Part - 5
You can go here to pick up the Exotac polySTRIKER XL: https://amzn.to/3HWucac
When it comes to building a fire, rarely do we do it in less than optimum conditions. We make a campfire in the summer for some smores and hang out telling stories. In the book, To Build a Fire by Jack London, getting a fire started is a life or death ordeal. So today I try getting a fire going when I am cold and wet with the polySTRIKER XL ferro rod by Exotac.

Proctor 2 Point Sling
You can go here for the Proctor Sling: https://www.frankproctorshooting.com/proctor-sling/
While there are a ton of weapon slings on the market, not to many of them offer the functionality of a good adjustable 2 point sling in a lightweight package. The Proctor Sling by Frank Proctor, from Way of the Gun, does a great job. By using 1" webbing, a simple adjustment buckle and getting rid of weight at the attachment point, he's created a great minimalist rifle sling.

WARTORN Gloves by Viktos
Go here for the Viktos WARTORN Gloves: https://www.viktos.com/products/wartorn
There are a lot of shooting gloves on the market these days. Some are pretty crude with respect to dexterity and are best used with crew served weapons. Others allow enough tactile feel to shoot pistols. The War Torn Gloves by Viktos fall in the latter category. Lots of built in features at a fair price point.

Atibal Striiker 1-4 LPVO Scope
When it comes to an entry level 3-Gun optic, this Atibal Striiker 1-4x has a lot going for it. The reticle is clean and clear and easy for putting rounds on steel targets. Additionally the glass is pretty impressive with respect to light transmission. And all of this comes in a very affordable package.
If you need a rifle scope for shooting in some local 3-Gun Competitions, give this a hard look. It is a great entry level optic.

BCM Gunfighter Vertical Short Grip
You can find the grip here: https://tinyurl.com/nrysdn42
There are a whole slew of forward grips for AR-15 / M-4 rifles. Some fill the role of a hand stop and others are true vertical grips. The Bravo Company Gunfighter Vertical Grip - Short, bridges the gap between the two.
It is very easy to run this as either a hand stop or a vertical grip on your rifle. In addition to that, you can store batteries or other small items inside the waterproof grip and it is easy to put on or remove without needing special tools.

To Build a Fire, by Jack London, is kind of a dark story. But it is a real story. The struggle of trying to get a fire lit when your life depends on it, not just when you want to make some smores in the back yard. So I give the Swedish FireSteel 2.0 a try, when I am cold and wet out in the woods...

To Build A Fire: Part - 1
This series is inspired by Jack London's book: https://amzn.to/3JZTwyP
Since my childhood, the story To Build a Fire by Jack London, has stuck with me. And to that end, I have decided to try build some fires using some different methods and means. To create a control, each time I'll start the process with a 12" 2x4 split apart and a 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
Today I have a go with the Coghlan's Waterproof Matches. I'll be honest, I really didn't think they would hold up to the water. Color me impressed...

How To Incorporate Video Into Firearms Training
When you train with firearms, things often happen at a fast pace. We use time as a metric, balanced with speed and continually push both of them. This can occasionally lead to our technique getting sloppy.
Or while making runs through a kill house, we can become almost overwhelmed with the amount of information our brains our trying to process. So much so that when we come out the other side, we can be hazy on what happened in the first room.
By incorporating video into our training we can see things that otherwise would go unnoticed or be forgotten. Whether you have your friend film you with a phone or mount a camera on your helmet or weapon, there can be a lot of value in the practice.

How To Tune Your Rifle's Gas System
A lot of DI (Direct Impingement) AR-15 / M4 rifles are overgassed, and occasionally undergassed. If your rifle is over / undergassed, this can create problems. Both with respect to reliability, extra wear and tear on parts and possibly an unnecessarily strong recoil impulse.
In this video I will show you how to determine if your rifle is over or undergassed. And if it is overgassed, I will show you some simple parts you can swap out in order to get it running the way it should.

My 1st Attempt at Starting an IV Catheter
Some skills take a lot of work to gain any level of competency with. But, like everything, you have to start somewhere. This is my first attempt at starting an IV (Intravenous) Catheter. It is good to have buddies that don't mind getting poked.
My big takeaways from this is a newfound respect for people that accomplish this under high stress in less than optimal conditions, and a desire to train more. And since working on starting an IV Catheter is enough of a challenge, I also will make sure my next practice session is in a nice indoor controlled environment.

Pro For Sho Hearing Protection
You can find the Ear Pro here: https://amzn.to/3jPeANR
There are a lot of different hearing protection options on the market. And whether you are running a jackhammer or blasting through a kill house with unsuppressed M-4 / AR-15, you are going to want to protect those ears.
While not at the top end of over ear muffs in comfort or probably construction, the Pro For Sho do a great job at reducing sound. These for me are a great pair of ear pro to throw in my range bag as an extra for when I take other people to the range.

I will walk you through stippling in this how to video. Trying some different patterns, finding one you like, and applying it. Give it a try and start small. Play around with a Magpul PMag until you get comfortable.

There are a lot of pistol sights on the market. From your standard factory plastic sights, ones made of steel, fiber optic inserts, as well as tritium inserts.
These Trijicon HD Night Sights on my Glock 17, combine some of the best components of today's modern pistol sights. The tritium lamps are bright at night and the large luminescent dot is easy to pick up during the day. This coupled with the large U shaped rear notch can make for fast shots up close.
