Composting is an important part of growing good soil. Learn all you can, while you can. I am new to composting. I expect my first finished batch of compost in the spring.

There is a food shortage coming. There is a limited amount of time to prepare. Do what you can, where you are, with what you have. Take stock, make plans, build community. Time is short!

This sweet potato harvest was a little disappointing. I added too much biochar to the bed and I think this stunted the growth. I have found that 10% of the bed volume is plenty of biochar. For example this bed is 32 square feet. It should have only had 3 square feet of biochar. It had almost 3 times that amount. Live and learn!
