Episode 178 Understanding Astaxanthin, Nature's Most Powerful Antioxidant w/ Dave Watumull
Oxidative stress, free radicals, inflammation...these are all issues that damage our cells and can wreak havoc on our bodies if not addresses. Dave Watumull joined his dad years ago in discovering how to harvest and then replicate the most powerful antioxidant currently known to man - Astaxanthin.
This episode includes a lot of science behind where Astaxanthin comes from, how it works in nature and in the human body, and why it's so beneficial. Dave Watumull, CEO and Co-Founder of AX3, shares his passion for helping people live a better life longer and why it's not just about living longer to say we did.
Watumull says, “What we’ve discovered in 25 years of research is that astaxanthin is an antioxidant powerhouse – 6000x stronger than Vitamin C, 550x stronger than Vitamin E, and 40x stronger than β-Carotene. And its unique molecular structure allows it to penetrate and protect mitochondrial membranes, effectively neutralizing oxidative stress at its cellular source. This results in powerful anti-inflammatory health and longevity benefits that radiate throughout the whole body. The other amazing thing about astaxanthin is its incredible safety. With a long history of consumption in humans and animals and extensive safety testing, you can feel confident that you’re putting ‘good’ into your body.”

Episode 177 - Practicing Mindfulness w/ Dr. Gail Gazelle
Dr. Gail Gazelle went from experiencing burnout to teaching others how to overcome burnout through the practice of mindfulness. Learning to live with mindfulness can help anyone in any situation because it gives you control over what you can control - your thoughts.
When the pandemic started in 2020, burnout among physicians became a widely known issue. As Dr. Gail Gazelle shares, burnout has been a healthcare issue for decades but the pressure of dealing with the pandemic magnified the issue. To combat this potentially devastating issue for the healthcare system, Dr. Gazelle coaches her clients on the practice of mindfulness.
Mindfulness is not just something you do once in a while, it's a technique you want to become part of your lifestyle. Understanding how to control your thoughts, reactions, and letting go of the things outside of your control can have a tremendous impact on your stress levels and therefore your overall wellness.
Dr. Gail Gazelle, MD, a part-time Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and acclaimed physician coach explores this in her new book, "Mindful MD: 6 Ways Mindfulness Restores Your Autonomy and Cures Healthcare Burnout."

Episode 176 A Healthy Routine to Start and End Each Day
How you start and end each day can play a major role in both how that day goes and your overall long-term health. Having a morning and evening routine that focuses on your mental, physical, and emotional health will go a long way towards creating a healthy life.
After interviewing so many great guests over the past 175 episodes, there are a few things that seem to be common among them all. Success, however you define it, comes from creating a routine and following it daily.
While all the morning routines vary some, they all include:
a short time for movement
a short quiet time for meditation, prayer, thought
a short time for reading
The most common evening routine involves cutting out screen time and contemplating things that they are grateful for.
My personal practice is to wake up at 5am (I've always been an early riser), do my bathroom duties, read from the bible and then read from a non-fiction book, spend a few minutes thinking, then a few minutes stretching. I usually do a longer, more intense workout later in the morning. In the evening, I read again in bed beginning around 9pm after spending a few minutes thinking about specific things that happened during that day that I'm grateful for.
Your routine will likely be different and that's ok. It's a routine for what you need to be successful in your life.

Episode 174 Food, Ethics, and a New You w/ Toni Jessop
Seeking a higher purpose for our lives is something we all eventually start to do. When Toni Jessop traveled to Thailand, she tapped into the purpose she had been searching for but couldn't quite nail down before. After a friend introduced Toni to a vegan lifestyle, she realized it aligned her ethics and values.
