LOS ANGELES (AP) Paul George scored 28 points, James Harden added 20 and the Los Angeles Clippers overcame an early 17-point deficit to beat the Denver Nuggets 102-100 on Thursday night.
The Clippers snapped a five-game skid at home despite the absence of Kawhi Leonard, who missed his second straight game because of a sore right knee.
“All in all, it was a good win for us,” Harden said. “The first quarter we got down and didn't panic and the second quarter we made some shots. Defensively, we locked in.”
Nikola Jokic had 36 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists - his 24th triple-double of the season - to lead Denver, but missed a potential winning 3-point attempt as time expired. Aaron Gordon added 18 points.
Denver had won two in a row and six of eight.
“Kawhi didn't play but they have multiple guys who can defend multiple positions. That's why they're so good,” Jokic said.
Nuggets coach Michael Malone was ejected with 7:54 remaining in the game. He came on the court to argue with the officials and was hit with two technical fouls.
The Clippers took a 75-70 lead into the fourth. They made 9 of 10 free throws while extending their lead to 90-79.
George returned for the Clippers and Jokic came back too, and the Nuggets outscored the Clippers 18-8 to trail 98-97.
Ivica Zubac made four straight free throws, but Jokic hit a 3-pointer that cut the Clippers' lead to 102-100.
Harden missed a jumper and the Nuggets called timeout with five seconds left. Guarded by P.J. Tucker, Jokic's 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed.
“It's really hard in those situations, especially because I think the ball was in the worst possible spot,” Jokic said. “Sometimes you make it, sometimes you don't.”
Led by nine points from George, the Clippers outscored the Nuggets 17-8 to open the third and take their largest lead, 70-57. Jokic had just four points in the period.
The Clippers got back into it in the second behind their bench, which outscored Denver 21-0 in the first half. After starting 0 for 5, Harden hit a 3-pointer and scored his first 14 points in the period to help the Clippers lead 53-49 at halftime.
The Nuggets raced to a 17-point lead to start the game. Jokic assisted on early baskets by his teammates before he finally scored for the first time with 5:18 left in the first.
Denver's Jamal Murray sat out with right knee inflammation.

NETS OUTLAST PACERS 115-111, STILL ELIMINATED FROM POSTSEASON CONTENTION.
NEW YORK (AP) Cam Thomas scored 27 points, rookie Noah Clowney had a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, and the Brooklyn Nets outlasted the Indiana Pacers 115-111 on Wednesday night to split a home-and-home set.
The Nets were eliminated from postseason contention when Atlanta beat Detroit at home to wrap up at least a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament. Brooklyn last missed the playoffs in 2017-18.
“We’re trying to build championship character, we’re trying to build competitive character,” Nets interim coach Kevin Ollie said. “And that’s just taking care of one another and competing no matter what the outcome is.”
Mikal Bridges added 17 points, and Nic Claxton had 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Nets had lost their previous two games, the last a 133-111 loss in Indianapolis on Monday night.
Clowney, who is the second youngest player (19 years, 264 days) in the league after Memphis rookie GG Jackson (19 years, 108 days) and has split time with the Nets' G-League affiliate, shot 7 for 9 from the field and made 3 3-pointers.
He scored 14 of his 22 points in the second quarter and became the second-youngest player in franchise history to eclipse 20 points in a game.
“I got to play with the same confidence I play with in the G (League) that I do here,” Clowney said. “I don’t want to start playing shy and then I am playing bad.”
Pascal Siakam scored 26 points and Tyrese Haliburton had for Indiana. The Pacers had won three in a row.
“It was an uneven compete level for us tonight,“ Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said. “You know, the second quarter was our undoing and the second half (we) just left too much to chance,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said.
Brooklyn fell behind by 14 points in the first half and then led by 13 points in the third quarter. Haliburton sparked a 10-2 spurt with seven points of his own, including a 16-foot jumper that cut it to 88-87 with 37 seconds left in the quarter.
The Nets led 100-95 with 5:57 left in regulation, but Siakam outscored them 11-3 and put Indiana ahead 106-103 with. 2:16 to play,
After Claxton’s dunk, Siakam answered with a basket before Bridges hit a 3-pointer in front of the Indiana bench to even it a 108 with 1:23 left.
Indiana called a timeout and Siakam committed an offensive foul driving to the basket. Dennis Schroder hit a 3-pointer and Clowney made two free throws to make it 112-108 with 40 second left.
Haliburton then hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining, and Jalen Wilson sealed it with two free throws.
Pacer led 31-19 at the end of the first quarter before the Nets responded in the second by shooting 60% from the field and outscoring Indiana 42-31.
“That was just a poor defensive quarter,” Haliburton said. “I think it gave them confidence and that allowed them to kind of make their run.”

WARRIORS WIN 5TH STRAIGHT!
WARRIORS OVERCOME TRIPLE-DOUBLE BY LUKA DONCIC TO BEAT MAVERICKS 104-100.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Andrew Wiggins scored 23 points and the Golden State Warriors overcame Luka Doncic's 20th triple-double of the season to beat Dallas 104-100 on Tuesday night, snapping the Mavericks' seven-game winning streak.
Doncic, the NBA’s leading scorer at 33.9 points per game, finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. His 20 triple-doubles trail only Domantas Sabonis (26) and Nikola Jokic (23). Doncic also recorded his 48th 30-point game of the season, second only to Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (50).
Warriors coach Steve Kerr praised Wiggins for his defense on Doncic, who on Tuesday was chosen Western Conference player of the month for March, winning the award for the second month in a row.
“It was our defense that got us the win,” Kerr said. “Holding those guys to 100 points is pretty difficult. I thought (Wiggins) was brilliant. He put in so much effort just trying to make Luka work. Luka was amazing as he always is, but that effort really set a tone.”
The Mavericks cut the deficit to 102-100 with 15 seconds remaining, but the Warriors were able to close out the game with late free throws from Klay Thompson.
Six Warriors scored in double digits on a night when Stephen Curry shot just 5 for 18 from the floor. Thompson and Chris Paul each had 14 points, Curry scored 13 and Moses Moody had 12 as Golden State won its fifth straight.
“Steph and Klay didn’t play particularly well tonight on the offensive end, but a lot of the other guys got going,” Dallas guard Kyrie Irving said. “I think that was the tale of the game today.”
Draymond Green made two huge plays down the stretch for the Warriors, blocking Daniel Gafford with 1:30 remaining, before giving Golden State an eight-point lead with a layup on the next possession. He had 11 points.
"That was probably the key defensive play of the game,” Kerr said of Green’s late block. “Just a massive play.”
The Warriors led by 11 points with 7:28 remaining, but the Mavericks tied it at 92 with 4:28 left.
Dallas (45-30) remained fifth in the Western Conference. The Warriors (41-34) are still No. 10 in the West, three games ahead of the Houston Rockets (38-37).
The Mavericks started out the game with a 9-0 run but the Warriors finished the first quarter with a 28-27 lead. Curry led a 14-0 run by Golden State in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 13-point lead, but the Mavericks scored the final 13 points of the period to tie the game at 49 at halftime.
"It felt like kind of a playoff atmosphere tonight as well, the way we were going back and forth," Irving said.
Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga (knee) missed his fourth consecutive game, but Kerr said Kuminga is expected to play Thursday at Houston.
Before the game, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd announced that rookie center Dereck Lively II could miss up to two weeks while he recovers from right knee soreness. Lively was injured during Sunday’s game against the Rockets.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) The Portland Trail Blazers' 10th straight loss came down to one shot, and it was a good one.
But Deandre Ayton missed an open baseline jumper at the buzzer and the Orlando Magic won 104-103 on Monday night.
Franz Wagner scored 20 points, Wendell Carter Jr. had 17 points and 13 rebounds and the Magic, sitting in a tight pack of Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls with seven games left, escaped with a victory in the last of eight straight home games.
“You want to play a great game but basketball is an imperfect game,” said Jalen Suggs, who scored Orlando's final points from the foul line with 1:19 left. “It’s important to understand that. We learned something tonight. We need to be better, but we got a win.”
The Magic are fifth in the East, a half-game behind New York, 1 1/2 ahead of Indiana and 2 1/2 ahead of Miami.
Three nights after losing by 60 points at Miami, the Blazers came back twice in the second half and put themselves into position to win with the final shot.
After Paolo Banchero missed a long jumper, Ayton got the rebound and Portland called timeout.
Scoot Henderson drove the lane, drew some defenders and found Ayton open.
“Scott maybe got fouled, but you’re playing against one of the best defenses in the league. There's going to be physicality,” Portland coach Chauncey Billups said. “But at the end of the day we get D.A. a wide-open 15-foot shot, which is his money.”
Ayton had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Dalano Banton came off the bench to score 26 points for Portland. Henderson finished with 13 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
“We're not going to let anybody come in an roll over on us,” Banton said. “I feel that was the biggest thing, even when we were down 15 and knowing where we came from last game.”
Carter hit a 3-pointer early in the third quarter, opening a 17-point run that gave Orlando the first double-digit lead of the game. But the Blazers charged back and took the lead on Banton's 3 with 5:42 remaining.
Suggs answered with a 3 and a three-point play for the Magic, and Wagner's three-point play with 3:04 left stretched Orlando's lead to 102-93.
But the Blazers came back again before Ayton's shot missed at the buzzer.
“I couldn’t have drawn up a play any better than that to get a guy like that a good shot,” Billups said. “So we’ll live with that.”
Magic coach Jamahl Mosley's 100th career victory turned out to be a narrow escape.
“This is a win we're going to learn from, and how we have to respect and approach every single night when we come out,” Mosley said.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Jayson Tatum scored 23 points and the Boston Celtics rebounded from back-to-back losses to Atlanta, pulling away in the third quarter for a 104-92 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots and Jaylen Brown scored 17 as the Celtics, who at 58-16 have the NBA’s best record, avoided what would have been their first three-game skid of the year.
Derrick White had 15 points and Jrue Holiday had 13 points, seven assists and eight rebounds.
Zion Williamson scored 25 for New Orleans and CJ McCollum added 24.
Porzingis said stopping the two-game skid - only the Celtics’ third losing streak of the season - was less important than simply playing well.
“Last year Denver lost four in a row at one point, and I think the team that won before that lost five in a row,” he said. “But winning is a nice habit for sure.”
Ahead 59-57 at halftime, Boston took control in the third quarter, limiting New Orleans to 11 points while Porzingis had two of his blocks. The Celtics went ahead 79-68 on Tatum’s 3-pointer with 4:12 left in the quarter and led by double digits the rest of the way, going up by 22 in the fourth quarter.
The Celtics took away open 3-point shots and funneled the Pelicans to the basket, where Porzingis was waiting.
“That has to be our identity defensively,” Porzingis said. “The guys (on the perimeter ) do everything up until that point, and when the opponent gets to the rim, they meet me. We played at a very high level.”
The Pelicans shot 4 of 23 in the third quarter and Williamson missed all five of his attempts, guarded primarily by the 6-foot-6 Brown. New Orleans did not score after Trey Murphy’s 3-pointer with 4:37 left, going 0 of 6 with three turnovers.
“Jaylen did a nice job of making it very difficult for him (Williamson),” Boston coach Joe Mazzulla said. “He still got his average on free throws, but we kept him out of transition, kept him out of the paint and the guys on the perimeter did a great job of showing help on Zion and making him give up the ball early.”
Williamson and Herb Jones each had 14 points in the first half, when New Orleans led by 11 points after Williamson’s steal and dunk sparked a 9-0 run.
“They definitely hit us first,” Mazzulla said. “Our guys did a great job keeping their poise and responding the way we know how to with our defense and our offensive execution.”
McCollum’s driving layup made it 34-23 late in the first quarter, but Boston chipped away in the second quarter, tying it at 44 on White’s tip-in of Brown’s miss.
White gave the Celtics their first lead when he hit a deep 3 as time expired in the first half, and they continued their run at the start of the third quarter.
“They upped their intensity and we didn’t match it,” Williamson said. “When we decided to match it, the game was kind of out of hand at that point.”
Brandon Ingram missed his fifth consecutive game for the Pelicans with a bone bruise in his left knee. New Orleans was trying to get 18 games above .500 for the first time since being 49-31 on April 12, 2009.

ATLANTA (AP) Giannis Antetokounmpo had six dunks while scoring 36 points and the Milwaukee Bucks overcame Bogdan Bogdanovic's 38 points to beat Atlanta 122-113 on Saturday night, ending the Hawks' four-game winning streak.
Antetokounmpo added 16 rebounds and Khris Middleton scored 21 points as the Bucks snapped a two-game losing streak.
Milwaukee point guard Damian Lillard was held out for personal reasons. The Bucks had been 0-5 without Lillard this season. Lillard’s availability for the Bucks’ game at Washington on Tuesday night is unknown.
Patrick Beverley, whose status had been uncertain due to a sprained right wrist, scored 18 points as the fill-in starting point guard.
Beverley said Bucks coach Doc Rivers “was kind of hesitant” to give him a full starter's share of minutes before he received clearance for his wrist injury.
“He wanted to protect me, as a coach should,” Beverley said after playing 36 minutes and having five assists with no turnovers.
Rivers said he was happy with the ball movement provided by Beverley and others.
Antetokounmpo made 12 of 16 free throws and led the team with eight assists.
“As I said, we take him for granted,” Rivers said. “I thought he played as clean a game as he can play.”
Dejounte Murray, who scored a career-high 44 points in Atlanta's 123-122 overtime win over Boston on Thursday night for Atlanta's second win over the Celtics in four days, had 20 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds.
The Hawks made 14 3-pointers, including five by Bogdanovic.
“I was really happy with the way we played overall because they did what they do, come out and make 3s,” Rivers said of the Hawks.
Bogdanovic set a career high with 10 rebounds. He scored 17 points in the fourth quarter while sinking two 3-pointers in the final minute.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Atlanta's De'Andre Hunter and Bogdanovic midway through the final period cut the Bucks' lead to 94-89. Middleton and Brook Lopez answered with 3s for Milwaukee to quickly push the advantage back to double figures.
The Hawks again were missing injured forwards Onyeka Okongwu (left big toe sprain) and Jalen Johnson (right ankle), complicating the already difficult challenge of defending Antetokounmpo.
“It really does require multiple players to limit his ability to get to the rim,” Hawks coach Quin Snyder said.
Forward Saddiq Bey, another part of Atlanta's regular rotation when healthy, had season-ending knee surgery this week.
Atlanta All-Star point guard Trae Young (finger) has missed 18 consecutive games. The Hawks, who are a game behind No. 9 Chicago in the East, have about two weeks to have injured players return before their likely spot in the play-in tournament.
The Hawks averaged 123.8 points in the four straight wins before being held to 45 first-half points by Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Staring at a double-digit deficit midway through the fourth quarter without LeBron James available, Austin Reaves and the Los Angeles Lakers faced a clear choice.
“It was one of those moments that you could either flip the page to tomorrow, get ready for that game or you could go out and compete 110% and give yourself an opportunity or at least try to give yourself an opportunity to get back in the game,” Reaves said.
The Lakers chose the latter option and delivered a comeback for the ages.
Reaves had his second career triple-double and made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 38.6 seconds left in the second overtime as the Lakers overcame James' absence and rallied to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-124 on Tuesday night.
Reaves had 29 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in 47 minutes as the Lakers opened a six-game trip by winning their fourth straight despite trailing by 19 points in the fourth quarter and never leading in regulation. Anthony Davis provided 34 points and 23 rebounds while playing 52 minutes despite dealing with a knee problem late in the game.
“A 20-point lead in this league now, it’s nothing because of the way the offense is right now in the league, so high-powered that you can wipe away a lead pretty fast,” Davis said.
The Lakers won't have much time to celebrate their stunning comeback. They're playing again Wednesday at Memphis.
Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo had 29 points, a season-high 21 rebounds and 11 assists for his ninth triple-double of the season. Damian Lillard scored 27 but shot 9 of 29. Malik Beasley added 21.
James had an issue with his left ankle that prevented him from being available as the Lakers opened a six-game trip. James also had missed the Lakers’ 123-122 victory over the Bucks on March 8.
The Lakers still found a way to beat Milwaukee again.
“We've got to watch this game, learn from this game,” Antetokounmpo said. “Watch why we weren't able to get a stop. Watch why the ball wasn't moving down the stretch. Watch why we lost the game. Watch why there was a lot of 50-50 balls and we weren't able to get them.”
D'Angelo Russell had 29 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds for the Lakers. Rui Hachimura added 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The exhaustion of both teams was apparent as nobody scored in the first three minutes of the second overtime. The Lakers briefly trailed by two in the second OT, but pulled ahead for good on Reaves’ last-minute 3-pointer.
After Antetokounmpo missed two free throws with 24.2 seconds left, Russell hit two free throws to make it 126-121 with 14.7 seconds remaining, Beasley made a 3-pointer to cut the lead to two, but Davis hit two free throws with 1.7 seconds left to seal the victory.
The Lakers never led until Spencer Dinwiddie sank a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 2:19 left in the first overtime.
From there, the game went back and forth.
Lillard's corner 3-pointer put Milwaukee ahead with 13.6 seconds left in the first overtime, but Russell drew a foul and hit both free throws to tie with 3.1 seconds remaining.
Davis blocked Lillard on a driving layup attempt to force a second overtime.
Milwaukee seemed firmly in control for most of the night.
After a Lillard jumper with 8:25 left gave the Bucks a 94-75 advantage - matching their largest lead of the game - the Lakers outscored the Bucks 26-7 the rest of the fourth quarter to force overtime.
“Sometimes the ball just bounces different, and if you don't stay disciplined and do the things that go into how we built that lead, those leads can go away quick in this league with the shooting that's in the league, like they did tonight," Lillard said. "That's what happened.”
Taurean Prince drew a foul with 43.9 seconds remaining and made both free throws to tie the game. Both teams had a chance to win it at the end of the fourth quarter but couldn’t convert.

Air Jordan 4 Fear 2024 | First Look | STATION KICKS
Today on STATION KICKS... We'll be taking a First look at the AIR JORDAN 4 FEAR - 2024!, a pair that's arguably one of the best non-original colorways of the Air Jordan 4, the Air Jordan 4 Fear is set to make its long-awaited debut return during the 2024 holiday season.
For those of you not familiar with the Air Jordan 4 Fear, this colorway of the model originally launched in 2013 as part of the Air Jordan “Fear Pack,” that also included the recently retroed Air Jordan 3 Fear as well as the Air Jordan 5 Fear. The Air Jordan “Fear Pack” drew inspiration from the 2008 “Becoming Legendary” campaign starring Michael Jordan. This commercial has Jordan expressing “I’m scared of what I won’t become. You’re scared of what I could become.” This theme is reflected on each pair from the Fear Pack.

76ers 121 vs Clippers 107 | SIXERS WIN IN LA 🔥 | March 24, 2024
JAMES HARDEN AND CLIPPERS LOSE THEIR FIRST MEETING WITH PHILADELPHIA SINCE THE TRADE, 121-107.
LOS ANGELES (AP) Tobias Harris scored 24 points and Tyrese Maxey added 19 of his 24 in the second half of the Philadelphia 76ers' 121-107 victory over James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Harden had 12 points and 14 assists in his first game against the 76ers since he forced his way out of Philadelphia last November. After going 0 for 6 on 3-pointers to jeers from a small but vocal cheering section of Sixers fans in Los Angeles, the 10-time All-Star and 2018 MVP will head back to Philadelphia with the Clippers on Wednesday for the rematch.
Harden didn't speak to the media after this game, but his former teammates with Philly were complimentary after soundly beating his new team.
“James is a hell of a player, and I always have a huge amount of respect for him,” Harris said. “It's good to see him in LA flourishing and playing his game, just balling out. It's all love and respect. He's a Hall of Fame player, and for me it was an honor being here playing with him. To see him on the other side happy and enjoying what he's doing, that's really what the game is all about.”
Cameron Payne had a season-high 23 points with five 3-pointers for the Sixers, who rebounded from a loss to the Lakers on Friday by hitting 18 3-pointers in just their fourth victory in 11 games.
Philadelphia blew an early 17-point lead over the Clips before taking control with a 15-2 run to open the fourth quarter led by Maxey, who started slowly and finished strong for the second straight game in LA.
“We finally put two halves together, and it felt good,” Payne said. “Shots were falling. Everybody came locked in today. Shots were falling, and everybody played the right way.”
Kawhi Leonard scored 20 points and Paul George had 18 for the Clippers, who have lost five of eight and haven't beaten a team with a winning record in three weeks. Norman Powell scored 20 points after returning from a three-game absence with a leg bruise, but the Clippers couldn't keep up with the Sixers' outside shooting.
“We know we’ve got to play better basketball going into the playoffs, or it’s going to be an early season," Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said. "Still got full confidence in this team and full confidence in what we can do. It's just (about) going out and doing it every single night – not 26 minutes, (but) 48 minutes of doing the right things.”
Harden played in just 79 regular-season games during 21 tumultuous months with the Sixers, who traded Ben Simmons to acquire him from Brooklyn in February 2022. Harden led the NBA in assists last season while boosting Joel Embiid in his MVP campaign before Philly lost a seven-game series to Boston in the second round of the playoffs.
The 34-year-old Harden picked up his contract option to return to Philadelphia last summer, but abruptly requested a trade several weeks later. He then criticized Sixers president of basketball operations Darryl Morey, reportedly calling the executive “a liar” at an Adidas event in China.
Philadelphia still kept Harden on its roster until Nov. 1, when Morey dealt the Los Angeles native to his preferred destination for a package headlined by Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington and KJ Martin.
“It was crazy when it was happening,” Philadelphia's Paul Reed said. “I was upset, but I wasn't like, upset-upset. I was still cool. ... It does feel like that happened last year. You know how long the season is.”
Harden has been largely outstanding with Los Angeles, averaging 17.3 points and 8.5 assists while boosting the Clippers to a top-four spot in the Western Conference.
Before this game, both coaches downplayed the importance of the reunion - although 76ers coach Nick Nurse acknowledged “it might get a little bit different on the other end.” Nurse was referring to Wednesday, when the Clippers visit Philadelphia.
“I didn't really hear any, ‘Oh, we’re playing (Harden), we're playing (the Clippers),'” said Payne, who joined the Sixers last month. “I feel like we just handled our business, and it showed on the court.”
Batum didn't play in his return to LA, but got cheers from fans who loved him during his three-plus seasons with the Clippers.
Even after a Saturday night off in Los Angeles, the Sixers hit 20 of their first 28 shots and took a 17-point lead in the first half, shaking off the poor shooting that plagued an otherwise solid performance against the Lakers. The Clippers rallied to tie it in the third quarter, but never led.

Nuggets 115 vs Timberwolves 112 | INSANE ENDING🔥 | March 19, 2024
NUGGETS WIN DUEL OF TITANS😤
JOKIC'S 35 POINTS PACE NUGGETS IN 115-112 WIN OVER SHORT-HANDED TIMBERWOLVES AFTER TIGHT FINISH.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Nikola Jokic had 35 points and 16 rebounds and Michael Porter Jr. scored 13 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Denver Nuggets fended off the undermanned and undersized Minnesota Timberwolves 115-112 on Tuesday night.
Jamal Murray added 18 points and 11 assists and Aaron Gordon had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Nuggets, who blew an 18-point lead in less than 12 minutes before finishing a four-game road trip strong.
“You have to put teams away," coach Michael Malone said. “That’s something we really have to get better at.”
The Nuggets (48-21) moved within percentage points of idle Oklahoma City (47-20) for the Western Conference lead. The Timberwolves (47-22) dropped one game back into third place.
Anthony Edwards had 30 points - his fourth straight 30-point game - and eight rebounds and eight assists. The clean look from the wing he created with a crossover dribble for the tie at the buzzer hit the front of the rim, leaving him scoreless in the fourth quarter after the Nuggets cranked up the double teams. The shot was similar, Jokic noted, to the one Edwards missed for the tie at the end of Game 5 in their first-round playoff series last year.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope got knocked down trying to defend Edwards on the final play and was relieved to watch the ball fall short while lying flat on his back.
“He ran through me, for sure,” Caldwell-Pope said. “I’m glad he missed it.”
Edwards followed a nifty Euro-step layup with a 3-pointer that put the Wolves up 84-82 late in the third quarter and sent the crowd in a frenzy. Neither team had more than a two-possession lead until Jokic drained a 3-pointer to make it 107-99 with 1:45 to go.
Mike Conley, who had all of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, swished an off-balance heave from deep with 11.5 seconds left that pulled the Wolves within two points. Jaden McDaniels - who tied his career high with 26 points - made his fourth 3-pointer of the game to cut the lead to one with 4.2 seconds left.
But the Nuggets hit all the free throws they needed to down the stretch to seal it.
The Timberwolves played at home for the first time in 15 days and without their top three big men, a case of bad timing against the defending champions and Jokic.
With Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) out indefinitely and Rudy Gobert (ribs) sidelined for a third straight game, Naz Reid (head) joined them on the inactive list after getting hurt the night before in a win at Utah. Jokic had 40 pounds and three inches on Kyle Anderson, who with Luka Garza drew the bulk of the work defending the two-time NBA MVP.
“It’s really hard to play against a team that they’re missing a lot of guys,” Jokic said. “Of course the other guys are playing hard."
The Nuggets had a 15-point halftime lead by shooting 60% from the floor against the league's top-ranked defense, which was a vastly different in the paint without the long arms of Gobert.
“For us to have a showing like we did tonight going against one of the better teams out there, it shows a lot of grit, shows what we’re made of,” Conley said.

LILLARD, PORTIS PACE BUCKS PAST SUNS 140-129 WITHOUT ANTETOKOUNMPO
MILWAUKEE (AP) Damian Lillard had 31 points and 16 assists and Bobby Portis had 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead Milwaukee past the Phoenix Suns 140-129 on Sunday, as the Bucks hit 24 3-pointers to win without star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo, averaging 30.8 points and 11.2 rebounds, was out with left hamstring soreness. He missed just his fourth game of the season and first since March 4, when he was out with Achilles tendinitis.
“It’s not an injury, we were just concerned a little bit,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said. “Plus, when you look at the schedule, you have one, two, three, four, five days off. We planted it in him and he had to do it. We’re happy that he decided to do it.”
Phoenix trailed 109-94 after three quarters, but closed within 122-115 on a lay-in by Bradley Beal with 6:17 left. Lillard’s 3-pointer from the top left put Milwaukee up 134-120 with 3:18 remaining.
“I just wanted to come out and be in attack mode,” said Lillard, who became the first Bucks player in history to have a 30-point, 15-assist game. “I didn’t really think to myself I’m going to have to score a bunch of points. I just knew I had to be a problem for the defense.”
Khris Middleton added 22 points for Milwaukee in his first game back after missing 16 games with a sprained left ankle. The Bucks finished 24 of 41 from 3-point range, with Portis and Malik Beasley hitting five apiece.
“I thought it was huge, especially with Giannis being out,” Lillard said of Middleton’s return. “Any time you’re down your best player and then you add another weapon to a team that’s already down, it’s a pick-me-up just because we’re excited to have him back.”
Beal had 28 points, Grayson Allen had 25 points and Devin Booker scored 23 for Phoenix.
Milwaukee’s 18 first-half 3-pointers matched the NBA record for 3-pointers in the opening half held by the Suns and Utah Jazz.
“They changed their team, obviously, with Giannis not being in there, and Dame is an elite attacker that requires you to really extend your defense on him,” Suns coach Frank Vogel said. “The risk in that is exposing the 3-point line.”
Portis came off the bench for 25 first-half points, hitting 10 of 13 shots, including 5 of 5 from beyond the arc, in just under 13 minutes.
Allen’s 3-pointer capped an 11-point run that brought the Suns within 93-83 with just over 4 ½ minutes left in the third quarter. Lillard hit a 3-pointer from the edge of the logo just ahead of the buzzer to put Milwaukee up 109-94 entering the final period.
Milwaukee moved 1 ½ games ahead of Cleveland for the second-best record in the East. Phoenix entered in sixth place in the West, a half-game ahead of Sacramento and a game in front of Dallas.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) DeMar DeRozan scored 46 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime, to help the Chicago Bulls outlast the Indiana Pacers 132-129 on Wednesday night.
The All-Star forward's only 3-pointer at the 2:17 mark of overtime pushed the Bulls ahead 127-123. Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton missed a 3-pointer just before the final buzzer.
“It's like a survival mode that kicks in, in a fun way,” DeRozan said. “You embrace those moments. For me, I just thrive off those moments. I'm not scared to fail. I'm not scared to try to make something happen. I want those moments more than anything. It always reminds me of my childhood, being a kid and doing the little fake countdown, jumping on the bed, shooting the shot.”
The final 72 seconds of regulation were particularly entertaining as Pacers center Myles Turner hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions with 1:12 and 56.7 seconds remaining for a 3-point lead. But DeRozan sank a free throw and swished a baseline fadeaway jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining to force overtime.
“DeMar is an incredible closer," Bulls coach Billy Donovan said. “Give him a lot of credit and respect for that.”
The Bulls trailed by two when they inbounded the ball with 2.4 seconds remaining in regulation.
“I actually broke the play off,” DeRozan said. “The play was for me to come over top. But teams do a great job scouting and understanding what we're going to run. As soon as they checked the ball in, I just found an opening honestly.”
The teams traded the lead 12 times in the fourth.
“Our defense just wasn't good enough,” Turner said. “DeRozan hit some big shots, special player. But as a whole, I don't think we were there, just that last part. This time of year, there's no excuses. You've got to find a way to get it done.”
The Bulls’ Alex Caruso scored 23 and Ayo Dosunmu 20.
“What a game,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. “So many ups and downs. We were one rebound away.”
Turner led the Pacers with 27 points and five 3-pointers. Pascal Siakam scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Haliburton had 17 points and 14 assists.
“It's a gut punch,” Carlisle said. “When you make minor mistakes at the wrong times, it can really bite you. There were a lot of 'em.”
Pacers reserves T.J. McConnell and Jalen Smith scored 16 and 15 as the Indiana bench owned a 47-16 advantage.
The Bulls outscored the Pacers 35-23 in the third quarter to take a 93-85 lead. Caruso contributed 14 points with four 3-pointers in the stretch. DeRozan added nine points.
The Pacers' bench provided 11 points in a 15-1 run to forge an eight-point lead midway through the second quarter. The advantage reached 11 before the Bulls closed the gap to 62-58 at the break.

NEW YORK (AP) Josh Hart had 20 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists in his fourth triple-double of the season, OG Anunoby scored 14 points in his return from an 18-game absence and the New York Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 106-79 on Tuesday night.
Jalen Brunson added 20 points and nine assists for the Knicks, who finally got one of their injured starters back and looked nothing like the team that was held to an NBA season-low 73 points in a loss to the 76ers on Sunday.
“I think we played to our strengths,” Hart said. “I think we played faster. We took care of the ball. We rebounded the ball. We cut, we moved, we got good shots.”
Anunoby hadn’t played since Jan. 27 because of a right elbow injury that required surgery. New York is still playing without All-Star Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson because of injuries, but has held its opponent below 80 points in three straight games for the first time since the 2000-01 season.
The Knicks improved to 13-2 in games that Anunoby has played in after acquiring him from Toronto in a Dec. 30 trade.
The Madison Square Garden crowd greeted him with a rousing ovation after he was introduced with the starting lineup and Anunoby drew louder cheers when he threw down a thunderous dunk after stealing the ball from Buddy Hield late in the third quarter.
“It felt great. It’s been a while,” Anunoby said. “Missed playing here, missed the fans, missed my teammates.”
Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 19 points and Tyrese Maxey had 17 after missing the previous four games because of a concussion.
“I felt pretty good. I was definitely tired when I came out the first time, my wind,” said Maxey, who played 27 minutes. “It’s kind of difficult because only so much you can do while you’re in the protocol. But overall, it was all right.”
The 76ers beat the Knicks 79-73 on Sunday in a game that had the lowest-combined score in the NBA this season.
This time, the Knicks shot 50.6% from the field and 35% from long distance after shooting 32.5% from the field and 22.5% from 3-point range.
Philadelphia, still without NBA scoring leader Joel Embiid, continued to struggle offensively. The 76ers shot 37.5% from the field and 24.2% beyond the 3-point line. On Sunday, the 76ers shot 38.8% from the field and 30% from long distance.
Philadelphia coach Nick Nurse was upset with the effort his team showed to start the game and called his first timeout after the 76ers fell behind 6-0 with 10:21 remaining in the first quarter.
The 76ers were held to 14 points in the first quarter Tuesday after scoring 15 Sunday.
“Their speed, they were moving faster than we were,” Nurse said. “Their physicality, I thought on the ball, was a big difference on both ends.”
New York had an 18-point lead to start the third quarter before the Sixers went on a 9-2 spurt and made it 61-51 on Maxey’s 3-pointer that forced a Knicks timeout with 8:33 left in the quarter.
The Knicks answered with a 15-2 run capped by Donte DiVincenzo’s 3 with 4:34 remaining in the period to extend the lead 79-53.
Philadelphia shot just 1 for 6 and turned the ball over twice during that stretch.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Damian Lillard scored 16 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter of the Milwaukee Bucks' first victory on their California road trip, 124-117 over the short-handed Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Lillard hit three of his seven 3-pointers in the fourth, while Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Bucks' superstar duo took over the game down the stretch. Antetokounmpo and Lillard became only the second pair of teammates since 1980 to record at least 30 points and 10 assists apiece in the same game, according to the NBA.
“It’s how we work in practice,” Antetokounmpo said. “We got a lot of good shots down the stretch. Tonight it worked, and it’s something we’re going to have to do moving forward.”
From the start of the fourth quarter, Antetokounmpo and Lillard either scored or assisted on 31 consecutive points for Milwaukee, decimating the Clippers with the two-man game that the Bucks are counting on to lead them to championship contention.
“I think it’s getting much better,” Lillard said of his connection to Antetokounmpo in their first season as teammates. “To start the season, I think a lot of people wanted it to just click and happen right away. But I think any time you put two guys together who have always been the decision-maker, always had their hands on the ball for years and years and years, it’s going to take time for us to learn how to play with each other.”
Malik Beasley added 17 points as the Bucks rebounded from back-to-back losses to Golden State and the Lakers by outlasting the Clippers, who played without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
James Harden had 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting and 11 assists while playing without his own two superstar teammates, who both sat out of the team's second home game in less than 24 hours. Leonard and George played extensively in Los Angeles' win over Chicago on Saturday afternoon, and the Clippers decided to rest Leonard's sore left groin and George's sore left knee.
“Those two guys, they're great players, and we understand that,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said of Lillard and Antetokounmpo. “They had a good game. I thought Dame set the tone early and then took over the game late. Once he got going, it was hard to stop him. We tried to blitz, tried to do some different things, but he had it going and made some big shots.”
Norman Powell scored 20 of his 26 points in the second half for the Clippers, who already were without injured Russell Westbrook. With more than 57 points per game removed from their lineup, the Clips still gave a tough game to another top team before the final minutes.
Before the game, coach Tyronn Lue called the Clippers' weekend scheduling “very extreme.” The Clippers won't face as many scheduling obstacles next year when they move out of the arena they share with the Lakers and the NHL's Los Angeles Kings into the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
Six days after the Bucks’ 113-106 win over the Clippers in Milwaukee, Lillard and Antetokounmpo finally took charge down the stretch of the rematch to avoid the Bucks' first three-game losing streak in a month.
Neither team led by more than eight points all day until Lillard hit three free throws and a 3-pointer on consecutive possessions with less than two minutes to play.
Harden wasn't at his best, missing seven consecutive shots in the first half and finishing 1 for 6 on 3-pointers.
P.J. Tucker scored his first basket since Nov. 14 for the Clippers in the first quarter, finishing with seven points. The veteran hasn't cracked the Clippers' rotation since he was acquired from Philadelphia along with Harden, and he was fined $75,000 by the NBA for publicly campaigning for a trade near the deadline.

LOS ANGELES (AP) D'Angelo Russell scored 21 of his season-high 44 points in the fourth quarter and hit a go-ahead jumper with 5.9 seconds to play, and the Los Angeles Lakers overcame LeBron James' injury absence for a 123-122 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night.
Spencer Dinwiddie blocked Damian Lillard's step-back jumper right before the buzzer to preserve a stirring win for the Lakers while James sat out to rest his sore left ankle, missing his ninth game of the season overall due to the persistent injury.
Los Angeles was carried by Russell, who tied his career high with nine 3-pointers while also handing out nine assists in a spectacular performance. He scored eight points in the final 1:13 while the Lakers rallied from a late deficit and improved to 5-4 without James.
“D-Lo just stepped up and won us the game, and obviously with Spence with the defense on that last possession,” said Austin Reaves, who scored 18 points for the Lakers. “Just seeing D-Lo take over the game, I constantly kept telling him in timeouts, ‘Take us home.’”
Russell again raised his offensive output when forced to play without James or Davis, shooting confidently while also distributing the ball effectively on offense. Russell was nearly as nonchalant afterward about his biggest game of the season, but he acknowledged that an NBA career including four trades and annual trade rumors swirling around him has honed his focus for tough situations.
“On the floor, I've always felt like I was capable of doing things, (and) getting hot makes it a little more exciting,” Russell said. “Off the floor, obviously you all know what I've been through. Public humiliation has done nothing but mold me into the killer that you all see today. I never lack confidence. I never fear confrontation. I want all the smoke. ... I just feel confident in what I bring to the basketball game, so whatever room I walk in, I'm confident.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists for Milwaukee. Lillard scored eight of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, but the Bucks couldn't hang on in their second consecutive loss.
“It is a missed opportunity, but if we had won, that doesn’t change anything,” Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said. “We’re trying to go and get better. I thought we had the game in our hands, and we let it go. That happens, and it’ll happen again, and we’ll win some the other way, too.”
Milwaukee took its first lead since early in the second quarter on Antetokounmpo’s jumper with 2:53 to play. Lillard converted a four-point play two possessions later, but Russell trimmed the Bucks' lead to one point on a three-point play with 39 seconds left.
Lillard missed a tough layup to give the Lakers a chance, and Russell hit a leaning 13-footer with 5.9 seconds to play. Dinwiddie, who was making his first start for his hometown Lakers, then smothered Lillard's final shot.
Rivers cited the Bucks' fourth-quarter performance as reason for optimism, even if his team didn't finish.
“You want to win all these games, but that’s the stuff that we’re going to keep doing more and more until it becomes us,” Rivers said. “There was a stretch where Damian and Giannis were playing a two-man game, and it was unstoppable. We want to encourage that more and more.”
Antetokounmpo had his 43rd career triple-double, his eighth of the season and his first since Jan. 24. Pat Connaughton scored a season-high 17 points and hit a key 3-pointer down the stretch.
Anthony Davis had 22 points - just two in the fourth quarter while playing with a left shoulder injury - and 13 rebounds for the Lakers, who have won 11 of 15 as they fight to gain any ground in the competitive Western Conference.
Davis said he couldn't move his shoulder after attempting to take a charge from Antetokounmpo. He will be evaluated Saturday.
James hobbled off the court with four minutes left in the Lakers’ loss to Sacramento on Wednesday night with the latest flare-up of an ankle injury that has bothered the leading scorer in NBA history throughout his 21st season.
Before the game, Rivers said Khris Middleton is “close” to returning from the sprained left ankle that has sidelined him for 13 games since Feb. 6.
