It has since spread throughout the internet to include other websites as well as other days of the week. Caturday originated on 4Chan's /b/ in the mid-2000s. Urban Dictionary's earliest definition was added on October 24th, 2006. One of the earliest archived Caturday threads from 4chan was started on December 12th, 2006. One of the earliest instances of Caturday in the wild can be found on Caturday.com, the personal site of Sharyn, a Blogspot user from New Hampshire. The blog, entitled "Caturday," was created on November 16th, 2005 to "write stories about cats and collect useful information for cat lovers." The photos posted were of her personal pets, not LOLcats. A LiveJournal community for Caturday image macros was created on February 5th, 2006. As of October 2011, there are 2196 members. In 2007, I Can Has Cheezburger? was created, chronicling LOLcats every day of the week. The first Caturday image[7] was posted to the site on January 13th, 2007, two days after its creation. That year, mentions of Caturday appeared on MetaFilter[8], Fark[9][10], and in the University of Pennsylvania's the Daily Pennsylvanian. The Caturday Tumblr was created on June 1st, 2009, posting both normal cat photos and LOLcats.
