On my second installment of NHL Database: Pat LaFontaine, I have selected a talented player who had untimely injuries. The NHL Database articles will feature my favorite players from the past. I will discuss about their achievements and playing styles. Each one of these great players will have information about their goal scoring styles, playmaking, skating, and other features. Pat LaFontaine brought many fascets to the game, having a big heart was one of them. Biography: Pat LaFontaine was born on the 22nd of February, 1965, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He played in the NHL for 15 years (1983-1998), winning 0 Stanley Cups. Playing for 3 different teams, LaFontaine was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. He definitely deserves to be in the NHL Database. Goal-Scoring: Pat LaFontaine, at one point of his career, was considered a pure goal-scorer. He scored 30 or more goals 9 times, including an incredible 54 goals in the 1989-90 season, playing for the New York Islanders. LaFontaine found the back of the net often enough to enter the Hall of Fame, even though Pat’s teams never won a Stanley Cup. His chronic injuries took their toll and was forced to retire early. If it were not for LaFontaine’s concussions, I think he could have been a scoring champion at least once. His overall game made it possible for opponents to never know if he would pass of shoot. Passing: Pat LaFontaine was a creative genius with the puck. His passes were unusually refined. He used speed, determination, and laser-sharp passing skills to produce scoring chances. Pat learned how to make great passes over the years, without relinquishing his passion for scoring. In Buffalo, it was because of Pat LaFontaine, Alexander Mogilny once scored 72 goals. Don’t get me wrong, Alexander was a great player. Having LaFontaine completely fool the defensemen and goalie out of position helped Alex to score many tap in goals. I rarely saw a wasted pass done by Pat. He consistently brought his A game and made players better due to that. Skating: Pat LaFontaine was almost impossible to catch or knock off stride. He geared up in the defensive zone and then exploded. Pat did not tire very much, never floating or coasting around. LaFontaine had great quickness and acceleration. Few players could have made so many dekes into a short stretch at high speed as did Patty. His favorite move was to streak in, move the puck to his backhand, and then stride right with the puck on his forehand. Pat LaFontaine injured his right knee in the 1993-94 season. He sat out the rest of the year, which was very hard for him to do when he loved to play so much. He loved the game with all his heart, and some people think that, that was the main reason why he got so many injuries. The thing is Pat LaFontaine would not have been Pat LaFontaine, if we would not have cared. Puck-Handling: Pat LaFontaine was a brilliant puck-handler. Keeping the puck always next to himself, Pat seemed to achieve this trait with relative ease. This talent was the reason why he knew how and when to dish the puck. The only way to steal the puck from LaFontaine was to check him aggressively. This kind of action would lead to penalties most of the time. If Pat didn’t get injured the three years that he was, I feel that he would have given Mario Lemieux a good race for the scoring title. LaFontaine played fearlessly, taking the puck into traffic areas, scrapping in the corners, and backing down from no one. Defense: Pat LaFontaine was good on the faceoffs. Pat had very quick hands, and after winning the draw, he would burst to the opposing center of the net. LaFontaine was one of the best skaters of his time, which made him a great asset in the defensive zone. Maybe, Pat did not have the great defensive talent as a Doug Gilmour, but he had anticipation. Pat LaFontaine might not have been the best defensive player at the time, as you can sometimes tell by his +/- stats, but he was not the worst penalty killer of all time. Checking: It is amazing that after all the concussions Pat LaFontaine suffered, he was still not scared to check anyone. I remember how in the 1991-92 season, Pat sustained a horrible slash from Jamie Macoun and was hospitalized with a shattered jaw and severed arteries. In 1993-94, he played 16 games, then sat out the rest of the season as doctor’s surgically rebuilt his damaged knee. Two years after that, Pat was sidelined with pain and weakness in the knee. Then, the concussions were what destroyed his playing career. Because the last concussion was life-threatening, Pat LaFontaine had to retire. Amazingly enough, the injuries that cost him so much never ruined his spirit. Leader: Pat LaFontaine was a leader. He played like one especially in Buffalo Sabres. Pat was a driven man, always giving his everything for the team and the game. Playing with Bryan Trottier, Butch Goring, and John Tonnelli for the New York Islanders helped LaFontaine to learn the intricacies of being a leader. Sadly, injuries and sometimes lack of scoring depth on certain teams left Pat LaFontaine without a cup. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are crypto products on a blockchain that include unique identifying codes and information. They cannot be sold or swapped like bitcoins, unlike fungible tokens like bitcoins, which are identical and hence may be used for commercial transactions. The scariest part about NFTs is that the individuals behind them will make you believe in an other reality. Idea of The Great Reset (you will own nothing and be happy about it), with Klaus Schwab and other globalists, is horrific, because you will “enjoy” life, but never own anything. NFTs are not tangible. While the globalists take your property, you will be happy in the fake reality. Each NFT’s unique design allows for several applications. They may be used to digitally depict real estate and artwork, for example. This is where you will spend your allotted money on things that don’t really exist. The NFT Industry. The present NFT industry is dominated by collectibles like digital artwork, sports cards, and other items. These things you cannot really hold, like that same sports card or stamps. The problem is, when money is included, most people will do anything to make it. They ultimately forget that the future generation could be ruined based on your decision. For instance, the initial Jack Dorsey tweet on the NFT version topped $2.5 million. Then, regular people waste their time trying to make money and fool other people. Cryptocurrencies, like fiat money, are fungible, meaning they may be traded or swapped. This fungibility makes cryptocurrencies appropriate for use as a secure digital transaction medium. Non-fungible tokens change the cryptographic paradigm by making each token unique. They are digital representations of assets, which are not real. Like Bitcoin, NFTs save ownership data for simple identification and transfer, at least for now. The whole goal of the globalists will be to “authorize” you tokens for good behavior. Once you have been deemed a “good” person, then you may enjoy yourself in this fake reality. Where Did NFT Develop From. NFTs developed from ERC-721. ERC-721, created by the same folks that created ERC-20, provides the minimal interface, ownership, security, and information, necessary for gaming token exchange and distribution. The ERC-1155 standard expands on this idea by lowering transaction and storage costs for non-fungible tokens and combining them into a single contract. The globalists will find any means necessary to make things as seamless as possible, for people not to realize how scary this might all become. NFTs have been utilized in both private equity and real estate transactions. Having numerous sorts of tokens in a contract allows for escrow for various NFTs, from artwork to real estate, in a single financial transaction. Neither the concept of digital representations of physical assets nor their application is new. When these ideas are paired with a tamper-proof blockchain of smart contracts, they create a powerful force for change. The problem is that it all can be used to indoctrinate people into submission: if you do not do such and such, then you will not be able to buy bread. The original idea of cryptocurrency was to protect oneself from the government and all authoritarian regimes. Now, if countries will create their own currency and destroy the past coins like bitcoin and such, the original idea will be ruined by horrible people. NFT’s Advantage. The most apparent NFT advantage is market efficiency. Digitalizing assets simplifies procedures and eliminates middlemen. Artists may engage directly with their fans by using NFTs to represent digital or physical artwork on a blockchain. An NFT for a wine bottle, for example, allows supply chain parties to communicate with it and trace its origin, manufacturing, and sale. The problem with this, though, is that everything will be seen. Privacy is an important matter, and it is not for your best interest to show everything that you do. But, most governments, have developed, through tech corporations, a method of not needing to spend money on spies. Those spies are on your phones, TVs, and other equipment. Non-fungible tokens may represent any asset, including digital artwork and real estate. Avatars, digital and non-digital collectibles, domain names, and event tickets are all examples of NFT assets. The future can be scary, if the wrong people get a hold of this potential wonder. Like always, in humanity, everything that is good, will eventually be distorted. It is up to us, to keep letting people know what is good and bad and let people decide for themselves.

Mark Recchi was an easy choice, because he was my favorite player growing up. Biography: Mark Recchi was born on the 1st of February, 1968, in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. He played in the NHL for 22 years (1988-2011), winning 3 Stanley Cups in 1991, 2006, and 2011. Playing for 7 different teams, Recchi was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017. Goal-Scoring: Mark Recchi was a natural goal-scorer. He scored 30 or more goals 7 times, including a whopping 53 goals in the 1992-93 season, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers. Recchi knew where to shoot the puck. His shot was dangerous from the off-wing. Watching a lot of tape in the past, he liked to use Rocket Richard’s cut-back move, while riding a wrist shot back across. He could shoot from any position. Recchi, in my opinion, was one of the most underrated players in the league for quite a while. Passing: I think that Mark Recchi was an outstanding passer in the 90’s. To be honest, his assists output would have been larger had he played with natural goal-scorers. Recchi had 40 or more assists 12 times in his career, including 73 assists in the 90-91 season for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He could find anyone on the ice. It did not matter where they were. Mark did not pass the puck instinctively, but most often would wait until the time was right. He looked up at the play, never putting his head down. At some point in his career, analysts were saying that Mark Recchi was a solo artist and did not make his teammates better. That was total baloney. He made Eric Lindros a much more relaxed player. Mark, after he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, helped refine Saku Koivu’s game. This NHL Database would be lonely without Mark Recchi in it. Skating: Mark Recchi was a grinder. His skating was not beautiful, but it got the job done. Recchi did have enough breakaway speed. He was very efficient, solid on his skates. Speedy Gonzales he was not though. A lot of his game was where to be at the right time. This helped Mark to get away with not being to out hustle a player with better speed. Puck-Handling: Mark Recchi was an outstanding puck-handler. Recchi kept his cool when he had the puck. I never saw him nervous with the puck. He could definitely skate from his own ice to the opponent’s end magnificently. Mark protected that puck so well, keeping it close to his skates. Defense: Early in his career, Mark Recchi was considered a defensive liability. Later on though, he cleaned up his game. Recchi improved this part during his time in Montreal. Playing there helped him learn about the intricacies of keeping his own end impenetrable. Amazingly enough, Mark was killing penalties. He would hound the point men aggressively and knocked the puck out of the zone. Recchi would sometimes head on a breakaway at certain times and would also force opponents to pull him down for the penalty. In the latter years of his career, Mark helped several players become defensive specialists, including Brad Marchand. Checking: Mark Recchi was an incredible player, but he did not check a lot. He did forecheck and deliver surprising hits for a relatively small guy at the time (5”10). Mark did get chippy at times, and he had a low center of gravity. It was very difficult to knock him off the puck. Recchi might have played less, if he involved himself in after the whistle skirmishes. Thankfully, he focused on the overall game. Leader: One of the true great leaders in the NHL, Mark did most of his work on the ice. His constant devotion to helping others really manifested during his time in Carolina and Boston. Mark showed everyone how longevity can be a wonderful thing when you help others get better. Mark proved to everyone that he could play with any player and that he would hustle every shift. This really helped the young players to see the dedication one needs to have. Never taking anything for granted, Mark Recchi was a complete player.

Most will notice the jump displayed by the woman in red, but will miss the exquisite lady on the right side below. Without arrogance, this lady displays her mastery with grace and skill. If you look further, she has a heart innocently drawn on her dress. While the woman is acrobatic, she does not display any human emotion. As my father wrote: “Extravagance – a sign of mediocrity. The satellite of extravagance – commotion.” The Magical Quality of the Circus. The magical quality of the circus is the performer’s ability to bring hope and dreams to children and adults alike. These incredible people are able to put their daily struggles and sadness on the side. What they are able to accomplish is a tender belief in a world that is pure and beautiful. A person such as Marc Chagall would notice these incredible qualities, because he himself was a giant. The respect given to animals in his paintings are a huge aspect. How? A lot of the times, Mr. Chagall will show, for instance, a quality like tenderness through his depiction of animals. They are shown as much more progressive in comparison to the human being. As an example, look at the green horse. What a display of deep tenderness given through a beautiful gaze. Those eyes would cry, if it were not upheld due to its duty of bringing happiness to others.
