Here is the 6-month journey transforming the Hobbyking RC Yak-11 into Czech Mate all in one place. I've been playing with some powered Sailplanes lately and it's been quite fun! In this video, we're taking a look at the new Tower Hobbies AS 28 2.0m Glider which is a super nice flying powered glider/sailplane. Designed for a 4s 2200mah pack, you can really get some extended flight times with this one taking it up high and flying power off. What I really love is the sound as it sails through the air from a power off dive. It's music to my ears! Looking for a great next step warbird? Well, I was pleasantly surprised by E-flite's new P-51D Mustang 1.2m as it is about as good as it gets for that next step airplane! Plus, at the 1.2m size, this P-51 doesn't take up much room and is easily transportable. I do appreciate a very well executed model and this Aluminum Covered MiG-21 Fishbed was really quite stunning! The model had been covered in flite metal which was allowed to age a year while on the airframe to replicate the full scale aircraft it is modeled after at the Nationaal Militair Museum, Soesterberg, Netherlands. The E-flite F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF from @horizonhobby has landed! E-flite has done a really nice job on this F-14 Tomcat and being as small as it is (about 1/25 scale) with the full variable sweep wing, it really is insanely cool. I'm surprised too by just how nice it lands as well. So, having been able to finally get her flown, here's my review. At last, my Czech Mate Reno Racing conversion has flown and I absolutely love it! I ultimately flew the airplane 5 times including the maiden and it was a truly unforgettable day. I will say, this is a bit of a bittersweet completion given the circumstances surrounding the full scale aircraft and pilot Sherman Smoot, but I'm so glad to have seen it through to completion. Here is the second installment of my Czech Mate Kitbashing series. In this video we talk through paint and application of Flite Metal foil tape over the fuselage to get that characteristic polished aluminum look! It was a process, but the results were worth it. Please note that Sherman Smoot and his Czech Mate aircraft were lost on September 2, 2022. This is one of the cooler B-17 models I've come across in my events travels. It was built from a Bob Holman plan (heavily modified during the build) and is one of two that took about 4 years to complete.
