Historic Curb Appeal
At 106 East Benson St in downtown Anderson SC you find an impressive and well preserved building that dates back to the late 1800s. It's obviously full of history, but remarkably shows no wear & tear from the passage of time. That's because it recently underwent a significant refresh as part of a historic renovation. Daniel Builders was honored to be the contractor awarded this project. The project went on to be honored by the state of South Carolina Historic Preservation Society . Joining us for the conversation is entrepreneur, business owner, and the creative direction behind this renovation, Allie Walker. Allie shares how her vision to create a stunning location for her business, Katherine Marie Weddings and Bridal Boutique, was realized. It's a great story that we're happy to tell. So strap into that proverbial time machine and let's explore the history behind this renovation!
Going Off-Grid
What would life without utility bills be like? Is that even possible?
Maybe you’ve heard legend of someone actually living "off-grid", but do they actually exist, and what modern conveniences do they sacrifice to achieve this feat? In this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! our guest Derek Zurley became the proud homeowner of a modern “off grid” home. In 2020 he and his family moved into their new and very unique dwelling. Derek discusses the power source for his home (*spoiler alert* Tesla batteries are part of the power supply equation) and what it took to get the system up & running. Derrick's story was also covered in Solar Power World article, where you can see photos of home.
Under What Conditions
On this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! 3 well respected guests join us to discuss local market conditions. These local industry leaders include Taylor Lyles, CEO of the Home Builders Association of Greenville; Greg Gambrell, VP-Sales GBS Building Supply; Dustin Hughes, Corporate Sales Director for Jeff Lynch Appliance. They provide an insightful overview of the housing market in upstate South Carolina - a truly wonderful place to live! Recommended listening for all seeking insight into this local housing market, and especially good info for those considering a custom home or Guide-Design-Build renovation here. Enjoy!
