1 Minute of Murder- Johnny Avalos #truecrime
From October 2012 to April of 2015, Johnny Avalos took the lives of at least 4 women and 1 teenage girl in San Antonio Texas ranging from 15 to 46 years old. He would either use his bare hands or a plastic bag to suffocate his victims after doing disgusting and evil things to them. Once he was done he dumped the bodies in vacant lots and alleys, one victim was found alive and she would fight for her life for 2 months in the hospital before passing away. A DNA sample from his 2nd victim would come back as a match to Avalos and he was arrested on April 12th 2015. Investigators soon linked him to 4 other homicides and in 2019 as part of a plea deal, he confessed to all 5. Because he was found to be mentally diminished due to a IQ of less than 70, the electric chair was not considered. Instead he received 2 life sentences without the possibility of parole.

SERIAL KILLER Roger Kibbe, The I-5 Strangler
Roger Kibbe
Roger Reece Kibbe was an evil man who made a name for himself as the I5 strangler. From 1977 to 1987 he took the lives of at least 8 young women ranging from 17 to 29 years old.
He drove up and down the I 5 highway in Northern California picking up hitchhikers and anyone else he could get into his car. In most cases he would strangle his victims though in one case slashed a woman’s throat. His reign of terror finally ended in 1987 when a police officer heard screams and rushed to Kibbes car where he had just tried to slip handcuffs onto a prospective victim. He was known to authorities and a search of his car turned up a treasure trove of incriminating evidence. A year later homicide charges were brought against him which led to a 25 to life sentence. In 2009, the tireless efforts of investigators led to a guilty plea in 6 additional homicides. On February 28 of 2021, he was strangled by his cell mate at mule creek prison in Ione California. A fitting end for such a heinous and evil
creature.
So what made Roger Kibbe do what he did? We can’t say for certain whether it was nature or nurture, though we do know that he had a rough childhood. He was born on May 21st, 1939, in San Diego, California to Johnathan and Loraine Kibbe.
Roger got beat up at home and bullied at school. Which considering was normal in the 1940s, must have been fairly extreme. When he wasn’t dealing with trouble at home and school, Roger started some trouble of his own. He was seen burying a cardboard box in a park in 1954. When it was dug up it was found to contain 2 women’s bathing suits that Roger had stolen off a clothesline. In 1957 when he was 18, he was arrested for a series of thefts of cash and coins the summer after graduating from Chula Vista High School.
The thefts could mostly be looked at as a mistake of youth. Though he had also continued stealing women’s underwear. He would say he did it once cutting them with scissors, a precursor to his later acts of evil. He spent a little bit of time in jail then seemed to straighten out. He moved North to the East Bay Area near San Francisco.
In 1975 he got married to a woman named Harriet Sullivan. She is reported to have been a hard woman very much like his mother and she is referred to as domineering in some articles.
So he had spent his whole childhood getting beat up by his mother and then as an adult, married a woman who picked up where his mom left off. There’s no way to know what pushed Roger over the edge or whether he was born evil, but after 2 years of marriage Kibbe lashed out. If he was so enraged at his wife or his home life why wouldn’t he simply move out?
Roger Reece Kibbes first known homicide occurred on September 11th 1977. His victim was a 21 year old woman named Lou Ellen Burleigh. He set a trap using using a job listing to lure a her into into his control. On September 10, Lou Ellen went for a job interview with a cosmetics company that had placed at ad at the college she attended. Some it was through the school she felt comfortable, even when the man said his office was under construction snd to meet him in a parking lot in Pleasant Hill, California.
When she got home Lou Ellen excitedly told her mother about the interview, that the man she had spoken to was in 40s and had met her in what she called a fancy van. The next day she went to meet him and was never seen alive again. Roger Kibbe had taken her to Lake Berryessa where he attacked her, doing horrible and evil things before strangling her.
Kibbe confessed to the homicide in 2009 and took investigators on an unsuccessful attempt to locate her body around the lake. Her remains would not be found until 2011 when a lone sheriffs deputy named Michael Bartlett took it upon himself to bring her home.

Serial Killer Peter Tobin #truecrime
Peter Tobin
This is a terrifying case that should have been totally avoidable. On February 25 2006 a young woman named Angelika Kluk disapeared from Glasgow Scotland where she was working a summer job at a Church. The day she vanished, she had been helping the church’s handyman Pat McLaugin. Police interviewed those who had seen her last. Hours later the McLaughlin fled the city. Investigators soon found out that his name was in fact Peter Tobin and that he was a sex offender who had assaulted 2 14 year old girls in 1994.
As the search for Angelika continued, a secret chamber was found beneath the floor of the church with Angelika's body inside. She had been bound, beaten, and assaulted, then stabbed at least 16 times. Investigators would soon link Tobin to 2 other homicides, that of 15 year old Vicky Hamilton and 18 year old Dinah McNicol in 1991. Both were found buried at one of his former residences. He was convicted of the crimes and sentenced to life in prison, but considering his prior arrests, one has to ask why he was not still behind bars. And thats why...
The evil man who would go on to take at least 3 lives was born on August 27, 1946 in Johnstone, Scotland as the last of 8 children to Daniel and Marjorie Tobin, just a year after the end if WW2. Peter would get into trouble at a young age and was sent to an approved school in 1953 at only 7 years old. An approved school is essentially a reform school for delinquent children, though it did not seem to be effective as he was later sent to a youth detention facility.
Some believe he was behind the bible john crimes in Glasgow which occurred from 1968 to 1969 when he would have been in his early 20s, but the timelines do not match up unless he was traveling a fair distance to commit these homicides. Though This would explain why the culprit was not caught during the police searches in the city.
He got married to a 17 year old girl named Margaret Mountney in 1969 when he was 23 years old while he was living in Brighton England. Because of this police ruled him out as a Bible John suspect since he was out of the area for the final 2 homicides though he looked quite similar to the composites made of the unknown monster.
It seems like it would be easy enough to get a confirmation or rejection by asking the witnesses who saw Bible John. In 1970 he would be arrested for burglary and forgery, which may have been one of the final straws for his wife as they separated in that year then divorced in 1971.
2 years later, in 1973 Tobin married a 30 year old nurse named Sylvia Jeffries and the 2 had a son named Ian that same year. In 1975 they had a daughter named Claire, but sadly this second child would pass away soon after being born and the couple divorced in 1976. His ex wives described Tobin as a well dressed psychopath who was initially charming but who would turn violent once a relationship was established. And this seems to be the case as he would get married a 3rd time in 1989, this time to a woman named Cathy Wilson.
The couple had had a son named Daniel, 2 years before the wedding. In 1990 they moved to Bathgate Scotland before getting a divorce. Unlike his previous wives, Cathy did not take their son when she left Peter.
He would use young Daniel as a tool to put 2 girls at ease 1993 before attacking them, this was after he had already taken the lives of 2 young women while Daniel was in his custody.
The first of Tobin's known homicides occurred on February 10 1991. 15 year old Vicky Hamilton had been waiting for a bus in Bathgate. She was never seen again, but Vicky's purse was found on February 21 in Edinburgh. At the time, Tobin was living just a mile from the bus stop she disappeared from, but it would be more than 15 years before her family would discover what had happened to her.
Just months after Vicky Hamilton disappeared, Tobin was once again on the prowl for another victim.
18 year old Dinah McNicol was last seen hitchhiking with a friend from a music festival in Liphook, England. They accepted a ride from a man with a Scottish accent who dropped her friend off then drove with Dinah who would never be seen alive again. After her disappearance, someone would use her bank card to withdraw well over 2000 lbs from her account.
6 weeks later Peter moved into a house at 50 Irvine Drive in Margate. His neighbors described him as a normal guy who had his son, Daniel on the weekends. But there were signs of the horror that hid behind his mask of normality. A neighbor named David Martin once saw him digging a huge hole in his yard. He jokingly asked if Tobin was digging to Australia. To which the creature replied that he was making a sand pit for his son.
The truth was that he was digging a grave for his 2 victims and shortly after this exchange the hole was filled in. One has to wonder where he was keeping the young women's bodies up until this point and how he was able to escape detection.
Though his first homicides would not be discovered for many years and not until after he had committed a 3rd he would find himself in legal trouble for 2 attempted homicides. While living in Leigh Park, England, on August 4 1993 Peter met 2 14 year old girls who had come to visit a neighbor who was not home.
He lured them into his apartment to wait and they entered willingly, after all how could a man with his young son mean them any harm? He then held them at knife point and forced them to drink alcohol. Once they were intoxicated, he assaulted them which I think its clear at this point what is meant by this term in my videos, but he would also do what the British refer to as buggery. A funny term for an evil act that is not at all funny or acceptable.
Once he was done, he left the 2 unconscious teenagers in the apartment with the unlit gas stove on in an attempt to suffocate them. Thankfully they both survived the ordeal and Tobin was forced to flee. As he would do later, he found refuge among a religious community, settling in Coventry and joining the Jesus Fellowship using a fake name. He would not be able to escape the law, and he was arrested in 1994 when his car was identified in Brighton.
On May 18 of 1994 he plead guilty for the disgusting crimes he committed against the 14 year old's and he was sentenced to 14 years in prison which does not seem long enough. however Tobin would not even serve the full sentence as he was released in 2004 after only 10 years, how is it that the worst people always seem to be released early and somehow their prior crimes are not exposed?
After his release, Tobin disappeared without the permission of his parole officer from the town of Paisley, where he was living and began going by the name Pat McLaughlin after attacking a neighbor, and an arrest warrant was issued.
He found work at St. Patrick's church in Glasgow. This church had other problems as it turns out that the priest, Father Gerry Nugent, was abusing young women at the church including a 23 year old polish student working a summer job at the church named Angelika Kluk.
But Angelika would not only have the priest to contend with. She was on friendly terms with the handyman who she knew as Pat McLaughlin, and on the day she disappeared Angelika had been helping him paint a shed.
This of course led police to interview him when she went missing, which led McLaughlin to flee, before the police could complete their search of the Church.
Investigators soon came across a place where it appeared as if the floorboards had been tampered with. When they pulled up the carpet they found a hatch 28 inches by 18 inches. Beneath this, was Angelikas body. She was bound and gagged and she had been badly beaten with a blunt wooden object and stabbed at least 16 times.
Upon seeing the extreme level of violence, investigator's did not believe that this was the handyman's first time and the search was on.
Meanwhile a woman in the community came forward to police with Tobin's real name. While all this was going on, the creature had slipped away to London where he adopter yet another name.
Luckily, a nurse recognized him from the news reports at a hospital and called the police. Constable Alan Murray approached the man who had been reported and Tobin readily admitted to his identity.
He was initially brought in for violating the terms of his release so police would have time to build their case.
His shirt and watch had DNA evidence linking him to the Kluk homicides. They would also begin operation Anagram which was an investigation into Tobin's past to see what other skeletons he had in his closet.
This was when they established his former his former addresses corresponded to several disappearances.
On June 4 2007, police searched the home he had been living in when Vicky Hamilton went missing and found a hidden dagger that was determined to have residue that was a close match to Vickys dna despite the years that had passed since the crime.

Serial Killer: Timothy Wilson Spencer
Timothy Wilson Spencer
Timothy Wilson Spencer was a truly evil man. Known as the southside strangler, he took the lives of at least 4 women in the mid 1980s and was the first criminal in Virginia to be convicted using DNA evidence. His dna evidence also connected him to multiple other heinous crimes, but the results were not conclusive. Spencer’s MO was to break into his victims home and assault them before strangling them using a ligature such as the belt that was found around the neck of Dr Susan Hellams. The youngest to fall prey to the depraved monster was a 15 year old girl named Diane Cho. Spencer was already on polices radar from previous burglaries and he was arrested when it was discovered that he had signed out of the halfway house he was staying in for each of the homicides. He would be sent to the electric chair and his sentence was carried out on April 27th 1994.
Timothy Wilson Spencer was born on March 17, 1962 and grew up in Arlington county Virginia. He described his childhood as structured with the family eating meals together though his parents divorced when he was young.
Timothy’s younger brother Travis said that he was fiercely protective over him but also that Timothy started his life of crime early. Despite a relatively stable childhood, he began shoplifting and burglarizing house in the neighborhood.
Travis said his brother had a reputation as one of the neighborhood trouble makers and a thief. But timothy tried to keep his younger brother on the straight and narrow, scolding him when he was caught shoplifting, despite his own 3 arrests for burglary as a juvenile. By the time Timothy was 21 years old he was out stealing and breaking into homes. On some occasions he would even attack the female occupants when he broke in. But in 1984 he crossed the line to homicide.
Carolyn Hamm was a 32 year old attorney, committed to her job and very dependable. So on January 25th 1984, when she failed to show up to work for the second day in a row, her colleagues noticed. Her secretary called Carolyn’s friend, Darla Henry, and asked if she could check on Miss Hamm. What Darla found would scar her for the rest of her life.
Carolyn’s car was in the driveway and the front door to the house was slightly open. Realizing something was wrong, Darla searched the home and discovered Carolyn’s body. She was deceased lying facedown in the garage with a rope around her neck. The rope had been thrown over a pipe and tied onto the bumper of her car, as if the vehicle was used to suspend her in the air.
The laundry window was left open and it is suspected that this was how her assailant got into the house. A neighbor said that Carolyn had been complaining about a neighborhood man named David Vasquez. This led to an extended interrogation and eventually Vasquez confessed after investigators claimed to have his fingerprints and he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
After this first homicide, there would be a pause before Spencer struck again. Meanwhile he continued to rack up arrests for burglary and trespassing. But on Saturday September 19, 1987, another victim was discovered. The abandoned car of 35 year old Debbie Dudley Davis was left running parked a block away from her home, leading to a call to police from a concerned neighbor.
When police entered her apartment they found her. She was topless lying facedown on her bed. Davis had been bound using shoelaces and a wool sock was twisted around her neck with a vacuum cleaner tube used as a tourniquet to tighten it and cut off her air passage. Police found that a rocking chair that had been moved from a neighbors porch so that someone could climb into Davis’s front window.
They were also able to collect a sample of the biological materials the assailant left behind in the apartment. Evidence indicated that the attack had not been quick and that her attacker had strangled Davis to the point of losing consciousness repeatedly as he assaulted her. Absolutely heinous.
2 weeks later police were called to the home of Dr Susan Hellams on the southside of Richmond Virginia. Her husband had gotten home a bit before 2am. He heard noises and assumed it was his wife sleeping and so quietly showered before heading into bed. However, when he entered the room he saw the his partially nude wife lying on the floor.
Hellams had been strangled with 2 belts hooked together and left dangling from her neck and her hands had been bound with an extension cord. Her dress was pulled up as evidence of the vicious assault committed against her. Not only had she been strangled but in this case the creature had also beaten her bloody.
The blood vessels in her eyes had burst, showing that she had been strangled for an extended period of time, just like Ms Davis. Investigators determined her attacker had used a fence to climb into a second floor window. The obvious connection between the Hellams and Davis crimes struck fear into the community as it became clear that they had a serial killer in their midst.
On the night of November 21 1987, 15 year old Diane Cho was sleeping in her own bed, when Spencer broke in through a window. Her brother was asleep in the next room yet the creature was brazen enough to attack her anyway. She was silenced with duct tape over her mouth and strangled. There was little evidence to point to who her attacker was aside from a hair found in her bedding.
On december 1st, the body of 44 year old Susan Tucker was found in her condo about 100 miles away in Arlington Virginia. Her husband had been on a business trip leaving her alone. The crime scene made it clear that the same monster who had taken the lives of Davis, Hellams, and Cho was also behind this homicide.
She had been bound with a rope leading from her feet and hand to her neck. Like the previous victims she had been brutally assaulted before she was strangled. A blanket was found outside the condo with biological evidence smeared on it from her assailant. Because of the similarities, investigators from Arlington met with their Richmond counterparts to solve the series of homicides.
They soon discovered that a man named Timothy Spencer had been arrested for burglary shortly after the Hamm crime and was released shortly before the other homicides. He was on parole living in a halfway house in Richmond. To keep track of the parolees the house requires them to sign in and out. The log showed that Spencer had signed out for each of the crimes.
Police found that he had a history of violence against women. That he had started with breaking into homes then attacking their occupants. When he was brought into custody he stood up to a 12 hour interrogation without giving an inch. But then they took a dna sample and sent it in for comparison. After a few weeks it came back as a match to that found at the Tucker, Davis, and Hellams crime scene.
It was not a perfect match for the Cho crime but it was enough for a conviction when looked at with his history and the other crimes. It was also not conclusive for the Hamm homicide due to the original sample degrading over time but it was close enough and Mr Vasquez was released from prison.
By early 1989, Spencer had been found guilty in the Tucker, Davis, Hellams, and Cho homicides and sentenced to death. Despite there not being a trial and conviction for the crime against Carolyn Hamm, investigators were satisfied that Spencer was guilty.
He sat in prison appealing his convictions for 5 years until April 27th 1994. On that day, his sentence was carried out at Greensville Correction center in Jaratt Virginia. Without giving a final statement Timothy Wilson Spencer was escorted to the electric chair and pronounced deceased at 11:13pm.

China’s Jack the Ripper #truecrime
From 1988 to 2002 a series of brutal homicides took place in Baiyin and Baotou city in China. 11 women would lose their lives to an evil man named Gao Chengyong. He would break into their homes and attack them with knives, and in some cases restrain them with ropes so he could commit his evil acts against them then ransack their homes for valuables and money. His victims ranged from 8 to 29 years old making the crimes of even more despicable. After he was caught his wife would say that Gao disappeared for periods of time, but since he always came back with money she assumed he was working during these absences. What makes these crimes so horrific is the level of brutality involved. Gao would mutilate his victims, removing body parts and organs which is why he earned the nickname, the Chinese Jack the Ripper.
Goa Chengyong was born on the 10th of November 1964 in Yhuhong county in Gansu China. He grew up in Qingcheng, in Northeast China. Gao was considered a good but emotionally distant boy who had to care for his father after he was paralyzed. The boy had wanted to grow up and be a pilot but these dreams were shattered for what he would claim were political reasons.
Even with this dissapointment, Gao seemed to be set to lead a respectable life, getting married in the 80’s and settling in Baiyin. The first of his 2 sons was born in 1988. But this would also be the year he began the reign of terror that he would become known for. Based on this first homicide, it seems that he had been stalking young women long before this. Authorities would say he targeted young women wearing red who lived alone.
On May 26th 1988, 100 years since Jack the Ripper terrorized London, 34 year old Gao perpetrated a heinous crime against a 23 year old woman whom he had followed home from the grocery store he ran named Bai Jie. She was attacked in her home in Baiyin.
Her throat had been slashed and her clothing had been pushed up to expose her breasts and she was naked from the waist down. Much like the original Jack the Ripper had done, Goa stabbed her repeatedly in the torso. The autopsy would identify more than 2 dozen stab wounds.
Perhaps this first homicide was due to the stress of being a new father, but the removal of Ms Bais clothing points to a sexual motive. In any case, Gao would not strike again for more than 6 years. However, many of the subsequent crimes would be even more brutal.
In July 1994, he would attack again in a similar manner, but in this case he stabbed his young victim, 19 year old Shi Jun, 36 times. Some of his victims were not stabbed such as the 21 year old Li Na. On March 28 1997 Gao traveled out of his normal stalking grounds to Bautou. She was found tied up and stripped from the waist down with a broom shoved into her mouth. There were also traces of sexual assault.
This residue left behind would be one of the major ways investigators were able to identify Gao as their suspect. But he was able to commit many more atrocities before he was stopped. In 1998 he would commit 4 vicious homicides.
Gao would not only strangle or slash his later victims throats. In 1998 he would begin removing body parts truly earning the nickname the Chinese Jack the Ripper.
For his first homicide of the year on January 13, Gao removed a flap of skin from the top of a 29 year old woman named Yang Xias head as well as her ears.
Less than a week later on the 19th he broke into a 27 year old woman named Deng Yans home. In this case he once again slashed her throat then in what seems like a frenzy of bloodlust, Gao chewed off her left nipple and removed a piece of skin measuring over a foot long and 9.5 inches wide from her back.
On July 30th 1998, he broke into a home and came across an 8 year old child named Yao Yafen. The creature strangled the poor girl and hid her body in a closet. Once again he left biological residue on her remains. Gao would finish the year with his most horrific crime.
On November 30th he broke into the home of 23 year old Cui Jinping. Not only did he stab her nearly 2 dozen times, but he also removed her hands, breasts, and genitals. This is how she would later be discovered by her mother. This heinous act seems to have satisfied the creatures evil impulses and it would be almost 2 years before he took another life.
On November 20th of the year 2000. Gao broke into the home of 28 year old Luo Luoyang. He would once again cut his victims throat and remove her hands. There would not be another year as bloody as 1998, however in May of 2001, Chengyong would commit 2 homicides back to back.
The first was on May 22, when he broke into the home of a 27 year old nurse named Zhang Jing. Gao tied the young woman up before stabbing her 16 times in the neck. Unsatisfied, he was on the prowl the very next day, when
he entered a Baiyin hotel where he repeated the process as the day before, again using rope to incapacitate 21 year old Chang Lin before stabbing her to death.
Just over a year later, Gao Chengyong would once again enter a Baiyin hotel with criminal intent. 28 year old Zhu Ting was staying on the 3rd floor of the hotel when the creature attacked her. Gao strangled her until she was unconscious before assaulting her then stabbing her.
Somehow Chinese authorities did not connect these 11 crimes until 2004 despite their similarities and close proximity to one another.
As is sometimes the case with ideologically motivated governments, such crimes are concealed. Like the case of the Soviet Union, serial homicide were considered a result of capitalist decadence.
This approach allowed a monster like Andrei Chikatilo to take several dozen lives as authorities were reluctant to admit that such a thing was happening in their communist paradise.
In the case of Gao Chengyong in China, a reward of roughly $25,000 was offered in 2004 for his capture. But this reward did not result in an arrest. There was little for authorities to go on, but they had dna evidence. Everything changed in 2016, 14 years after the last homicide.
As has happened with other cases in recent years a routine DNA swab of a family member showed as a familial match to the killer sought by police.
Chengyong uncle was arrested and as he was processed a sample of his dna was collected.
After reviewing the uncles family members, Investigators soon descended on the now 52 year old Gao at the grocery store he ran on August 26 2016.
The methods used by interrogators were effective and he soon confessed to all 11 homicides. On March 18 2018 the creature was sentenced to be executed. This sentence was carried out on January 3rd 2019.

The Belgian Jeffrey Epstein: Marc Dutroux #truecrime
Dutroux 2
Marc Dutroux
We’ve all heard of this guy, and the network of evil he was a part of. But before his crimes were exposed to the world, another monster named Marc Dutroux was doing similar things in Belgium during the mid 1990s ending the lives of some of his victims. Some say he was part of a larger network that involved government officials and law enforcement.
The Belgian people heard these claims and looked at the fact that he had taken the lives of their children after he had already been convicted of abducting and doing disgusting things to 5 girls ranging from 11 to 19 years old in 1989.

SERIAL KILLER NURSE Ayumi Kuboki #truecrime
Ayumi Kuboki
Hospitals are where we go to get well when we are sick, and put back together when injured. But in some cases, those tasked with looking after the patients sabotage them or actively seek to harm them. This so sometimes due to something called Munchausen by proxy syndrome where a caretaker of some sort seeks to gain attention by causing emergencies in their proximity. Such as a fire fighter who is also an arsonist or nurses and doctors who poison their patients. The men and women of the medical field who commit such acts are often referred to as angels of death. Ayumi Kuboki falls in the latter category. She was a nurse at the Oguchi Hospital in Yokohama Japan and at least 3 lives were lost to her twisted urges in 2016 leading her to be called the Devil in White.
The terminal ward are the Oguchi hospital was having a bad year in 2016. Despite the nature of the ward, the rate of patients, especially elderly patients, passing away, had gone up significantly. 48 to be exact from in just a few months from July to September. The ward has only 42 beds so the turnover has grown exponentially.
On top of this there had been personnel issues at the hospital. Arguments between staff and vandalism of the medical supplies had led multiple people to resign or be fired. Unfortunately the truly evil member of staff remained.
Things came to a head when on September 20 of that year, a nurse noticed a strange thing when she dropped an IV bag she was taking of a deceased 88 year old patient named Nobuo Yamaki. When the liquid sloshed around it foamed, which was absolutely not normal so the nurse raised the alarm.
After all a life had just been lost after Mr Yamaki deteriorated then sadly passed away of unknown causes not long after having a drip started. But an autopsy soon showed that he had in fact been poisoned. At that point they just needed to find the source.
When inspected, the bag was found to contain diamitol which is a liquid antiseptic used to clean wounds and prepare a patient for surgery. At first, no one knew how the chemical got into the IV bass and so they Immediately checked the others on the floor and found something horrifying. There were small punctures in 10 of the bags meaning that the diamotol had been added using a syringe, likely by a member of the hospital staff. Even worse, some of the tainted bags had already been administered to patients.
One of them had been given to an 88 year old man named Sozo Nishikawa 2 days earlier. He had passed away after his condition had rapidly declined without an obvious cause. But, in an instant they knew that he had been poisoned.
As an investigation began, others were found to have been poisoned, with one more having lost their life to the unknown monster. Asae Okitsu was the youngest of the 3 proven victims at 78 years old. He had suffered respiratory failure 1 hour after an iv drip had been administered. Police needed a way to find the poisoner, but the chemical was stored in multiple places throughout the hospital.
They started by taking an inventory of the hospitals Diamitol and searched the employees belongings. When they came across one nurses bag they found some residue of the chemical in question. It was 29 year old Ayumi Kuboki who had been a registered nurse since 2007. When the investigators asked her coworkers about her, more than one had seen her acting suspiciously, including one saying he had seen her going into one of the patients rooms shortly before they expired. At the time she had not been assigned to monitor this patient.
There was also some strange footage of Kuboki wandering through the ward with a bottle of insulin. At the time there was no medical reason for her to be carrying it around. In large doses insulin can causes seizures and can be fatal. This was enough to bring her in for questioning, but many of the hospital staff were as well as this time.
As the investigation progressed, it became clearer and clearer that Kuboki likely had something to do with the fatalities in the terminal ward. So in June of 2018, they once again brought Kuboki in for questioning. This time, she quickly admitted that she had in fact injected the diamitol into the iv bags of at least 20 patients. With this confession she was charged with homicide in 3 of the cases.
Meanwhile, she was writing letters denying her responsibility. Eventually she stopped the facade of innocence and once again admitted what she had done. This is where it gets even worse. When asked why she did it, she said that she disliked having to talk to deceased patients families after they passed away. To this end, she poisoned them so that they would expire during someone else’s shift.
She is quoted as saying she found these conversations with loved ones troublesome and so wanted to avoid them at all costs. At one point a coworker had expressed suspicions about her having something to do with the rising death rate of the patients and she admitted that after this she fantasized about taking his life as well.
By December of 2018 she was charged with homicide. There were several other cases she was suspected of which did not have enough evidence to charge her with, but is is likely that she was behind many more of the deaths in the terminal ward. An investagiot is still ongoing regarding the 48 lives that were lost in during this time period.
Kubokis trial began on October 1 2021 with her defense arguing that she had mental deficiencies which reduced her culpability. This included schizophrenia but that was dismissed by the prosecution and she was declared legally sane.
While the death penalty was on the table, the claims of psychological problems was enough to avoid it and she instead received life in prison on November 9th. However, this sentence was not acceptable to either the defense or the prosecution and the case is currently being appealed to the Tokyo high court. Based on the evidence, it seems like the defense is playing with fire and I would not be at all surprised if she ended up on death row where she belongs.

The Gay Slayer Colin Ireland #truecrime
Over less than 4 months, a vicious and psychopath took the lives of 5 men in London England. Colin Ireland made the conscious decision to become a serial killer and started his spree in his late 30s after a twisted New Year’s resolution. Starting in March of 1993, Ireland began hunting down men at the gay bars of the bustling city, picking them up then snuffing out their lives using ropes and his bare hands. When his heinous crimes did not receive the attention he desired, the creature called authorities to report his first victim and later he would call to taunt the police about his vicious acts, saying that he had left clues to his identity at the crime scene. He said his goal was to be a serial killer and that he had read the manual and knew the minimum number of victims, referring to the works of famed fbi profiler Robert Ressler. It was not until Ireland got sloppy and left behind fingerprints at the second to last scene on June 7 1993 that police were finally able to solve the case using CCTV footage to help identify him.

The Most Vicious Gangster- Sam DeStefano #truecrime
Sam DeStefano was born on September 13 1909 in Streator Illinois. His parents were Italian immigrants who had come to the US 6 years before. His father, Samuel DeStefano senior started working in the US as a laborer and coal miner, but worked his way up to eventually selling real estate.
One of the reasons that Sam senior left the life of a coal miner was an event referred to as the Herrin massacre. Soon after Sam was born the family moved to the town of Herrin where the father worked in a mine. There was a labor dispute between the owner of a mine and the United Mineworkers of America in 1922. The conflict culminated in a shootout between the striking union members and the mines guards. 23 people would end up losing their lives in the conflict.
The DeStefanos would end up leaving Herrin after the confrontation, moving to Chicagos little Italy. In Chicago, the young Sam would start getting into trouble associating with a gang of youths on the west side. In 1927, DeStefano and another boy named Ralph Orlando were arrested for assaulting a teenage girl and they were found guilty of committing one of the most vile crimes against her and Sam was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Considering the crime- it seems like an extremely light sentence. A teenage girl had been kidnapped and assaulted by a group of 7 gang members.
After getting out of prison in 1930, he would join the 42 gang which was led by Salvatore Giancanna who would later become a leader of the infamous Chicago outfit. The organization was involved in illegal alcohol sales and gambling in addition to other illegal operations. Many of the members of the 42 would go on to have careers in the Chicago mafia, but Destefano would never be able to cross over to made man. Sam would be on the receiving end of some of the violence, such as being injured by a cop during a grocery store robbery in 1932 and showing up at a hospital a few months later with gunshot wounds.
This crime spree culminated with an arrest for bank robbery in 1933 in Wisconsin. DeStefano would he sentenced to 40 years but had the sentence commuted by the Governor and was released in 1944. In 1942 while he was locked up, Sam senior passed away at 77 years old. 3 years later in 1947, he would be back behind bars after he was caught with counterfeit ration coupons.
He would be sent to Leavenworth prison where he rubbed shoulders with established mobsters from the Chicago outfit such as Paul Ricca and Louis Campagna. These connections would come in handy when he was released and got a job back in Chicago working in the city dump. He would also soon begin his loansharking operation.
DeStefano would fund his loansharking business with money he had from his days before prison. Hr would also use his illegal proceeds to buy real estate and manipulate local politics, eventually having influence over aldermen, judges, and policemen. But, it was in the process of collecting debts that Sam’s true evil showed itself.
While the point of lending money is to make money from the interest incurred, he had a different goal. DeStefano is said to have lent money to gamblers and did not shy away doing business with people he knew would not be able to repay the loans. Whether he wanted to make an example of delinquent borrowers or he just liked to torture people, Sam went as far as to install a sound proof torture chamber in his house where he lived with his wife and kids.
But one of the first to go was his own brother. The monster had brought his brothers, Mario and Michael, into organized crime. While Mario was a good fit for the lifestyle, Michael had issues adapting. This led to addiction issues, as he struggled to cope with the pressure and violence. But, the mob cannot have loose ends or weakness in their criminal pursuits.
The outfit passed down the order that Michael had to go. Eager to live up to the expectation of his bosses, Sam carried out the hit. On September 17, 1955 police got a report of a body in a trunk in Chicago. When they arrived they found Michael Destefano, who had been shot, but not in the head and there had been efforts to clean him up. It is suspected that Mario helped Sam carry out this crime.
For victims who were not family members, Sam preferred using an ice pick over firearms. When someone was unable to repay their loans, he would get them into his basement torture chamber then use the ice pick to coerce them to find a way to get the money they owed. Sometimes he would go to far and simply ended their lives whether intentionally or accidentally.
One of his targets was a man named Arthur Adler. Adler was a night club owner and one of his businesses was the Trade Winds Cafe and lounge. In early 1960 he had run up quite a debt with Mad Sam and ended up in the creatures basement. Though once the process of encouraging him to find a way to pay Sam back, Artie’s heart gave out ending the monsters fun prematurely.
So Sam stashed his body in a sewer where it would remain until it was discovered on March 28 1960 by some road workers. Sam was soon a suspect and was visited by an FBI agent named William Roemer. He would describe a bizarre scene- DeStefano would meet with him wearing pajamas with certain parts of his body hanging out and clearly visible. The creatures wife would serve coffee, which the agent would later find out had been urinated in by Sam.
One of the most brutal crimes that DeStefano would commit was against one of his collection men named William Action Jackson. The large man was used to intimidate borrowers into paying their bills but there was no loyalty between him and Sam. When Jackson was accused of
Working with the feds, he was immediately added to the hit list
In early August 1961, Jackson was brought to a meat packing plant. There he underwent a horrific session of torture and depravity. Bats, hammers, cattle prods, ice picks, a firearm, a blow torch, and a meat hook all played a role. But through it all, Jackson denied that he had informed on any of his fellow gangsters. Eventually he was left hanging from his sensitive area on the meat hook where he would eventually expire after multiple days. His remains were found in a trunk on August 12 in Chicago.
Leo Foreman was a real estate agent who also moonlighted as a lender for DeStefano. After he had come up short in his payments to Sam, the gangster confronted him and leo ended up throwing him out of his real estate office enraging Sam. So his brother Mario kidnapped Leo and brought him to the infamous basement.
Once again, the violence used was extreme with hammers and bats being used to break his kneecaps, sensitive area, and hands. A knife was also used to removed portions of skin from his body and an ice pick was jabbed into him repeatedly. Eventually Sam got tired of playing with Leo and used a firearm to
Finish him off and left the body in an abandoned car.
Those who owed Sam money were not the only ones to be targeted. In one case, the creature kidnapped a man at gun point then forced him to have relations with his wife as he watched after his she had made him angry.
By the mid 1960s law enforcement was hot on Sam’s trail, looking for any reason to bring him in. And in May of 1964 they got what they wanted. Sam was charged with illegally voting, because as a felon he was not eligible. But, he saw it as an opportunity to put on a show. Sam arrived to the courthouse wearing his pajamas riding in a wheelchair. After several outbursts the judge told him to be quiet at which time Sam whipped out a megaphone and began shouting earning a charge for contempt of court.
Another of Sam’s employees who earned his wrath was a man named Peter Cappeletti. Peter had tried to steal $25k of Sam’s money which was an obvious no no. But the mobsters net had a wide reach and Cappeletti was found hiding out in Milwaukee. What would happen next is one of the most cited pieces of evidence for DeStefanos viciousness.
Mario and Sam brought Peter to the restaurant Mario owned. They chained him to a radiator in the basement then began beating him in a session that would last more than 3 days. While this was going on, Sam threw a party in the restaurant with judges, policemen, mobsters, and Capellettis family in attendance.
Once everyone had finished eating, Capelletti was brought out naked, burned, and bleeding as Sam explained that Peter had stolen from him. Some sources say that the monsters urinated on him before bringing him out while others have the victims own family being the ones forced to relieve themselves on Capelletti. Either way, this sent a clear message to everyone in the community- Sam Destefano was not to be messed with.
During these trials, Sam would again act out drawing unwanted attention to his fellow gangsters. Since these trials involved codefendants, the Outfit took the flamboyant behavior more seriously than before. In early 1973, there was a secret meeting, where the boss of the Outfit, Tony Accardo ordered DeStefanos crew to take him out.
Much as with their brother Michael, Mario did not hesitate to help arrange the hit. On April 14 1973, Sam went to Mario’s home for a meeting with his brother and their associate Tony Spilotro. As Mario and Sam chatted in the garage, Spilotro approached with a shotgun and fired twice blasting off Sam’s left arm at the elbow and filling his chest with lead. It seems no one cared much about the passing of such an evil SOB as no one was ever charged with the shooting.

Serial Killer Mack Ray Edwards #truecrime
Mack Ray Edwards
Some monsters are arrested, many are never identified, and some lose their lives to police or by their own hand, but a small number turn themselves in. Such is the case of Mack Ray Edwards who actually found his way into 2 categories. From 1953 to 1970 this vicious creature did the unspeakable to at least 6 kids aged 8 to 16. When 3 young girls were able to escape his clutches, Edward knew the game was up and walked into a police station, handed over a firearm and confessed to 6 heinous crimes, but only 3 bodies were ever recovered one of which was buried under a freeway by the deranged road worker. Though he was sentenced to meet his end in the gas chamber, Edwards used a television cable to accelerate the time table of his demise using a electrical cord in San Quentin.
Mack Ray Edwards
On March 6 of 1970 a man named Mack Ray Edwards walked into the San Fernando Valley police station and confessed to taking the lives of 6 young children over the past 17 years. He handed them a loaded firearm and gave them the whole story. The day before some would be victims escaped his clutches and he knew it was a matter of time before they arrested him so he turned himself in. While in prison he would change his victim count from 6 to 18, and there are many disappearances and deaths that he is suspected of, but in court he would only be convicted of 3.
Mack
Mack Ray Edwards was born on October 17, 1918 in Montgomery County Arkansas. There are limited records on his early life up until he moved to Los Angeles in 1941. He got arrested once for vagrancy before spending some time in the Army Corp of Engineers. This is where he learned to operate heavy machinery which he would use to get a job once he left the military.
One year after the end of world war 2, Edwards married a woman named Mary Howell. To the public he presented as a friendly family man. He and his wife adopted 2 kids, and Mack also kept horses which he would let the kids in his neighborhood ride. No one could possibly know that the man they let their kids play with and who took them camping had a dark secret.
By the 1950’s, Edwards was putting the skills he learned in the army Corp of engineers to work as a Caltrans employee building the freeways of California. But unbeknownst to his coworkers and neighbors, Mack Ray Edwards had already started a series of horrific murders. The first occured on June 20 1953.
Stella Darlene Nolan was only 8 years old when she crossed paths with the monster. He met her at a flea market in Norwalk. Edwards kidnapped her and took the 8 year old back to his home in Azusa where she was assaulted and strangled. Once he was done, the creature drove her body to a bridge in the Angeles forest and threw her off.
The next day, the depraved monster returned to the dump site and was surprised to find that Nolan was still alive despite the drop and being choked. He drew his pocket knife and stabbed her before burying her remains under a freeway embankment in Downey California where she would remain for almost 20 years.
The next crimes would occurr just over 3 years later on August 6, 1956. Mack Ray Edwards came across 13 year old donald Lee Baker and 11 year old Brenda Jo Howell as they rode their bikes in the San Gabriel canyon. The creature paid the 13 year old to lure Howell on a bike ride to get them into a secluded area.
As the pair rode their bikes deeper into the canyon, Edwards followed them in his truck. He then separated them so they would not see what he was doing then slit their throats one at a time. What makes this crime even more depraved is that the young girl was Edwards sister in law. The monster would not be charged with these homicides as the bodies were never discovered despite him guiding investigators to the location.
Thomas Eldon Bowman was an 8 year old boy who disappeared while on a Family hike in Arroyo Cinco Canyon on March 23rd 1957 who is suspected to be a victim of Edwards. He had raced ahead of the group to the car, but when the family got to their vehicle, he was nowhere to be found. Edwards resembled the sketch of the boys abductor and supposedly there is a letter he wrote to his wife saying that he had meant to include Bowman in his confession. There was also an equipment yard for Edwards employer near the canyon pointing to him as the culprit.
After taking the lives of at least 3 kids, Edwards was dormant for a while, moving to Sylmar with his wife and adopted children. But he could not contain his impulses for long and on November 26 1968, he was once again seeking a victim. He broke into a home in Granada Hills where he knew a 13 year old girl lived when her parents were not home.
His intended target was gone at the time, and so the creature ended up shooting her 16 year old brother, Gary Rochet. The crime would go unsolved until Edwards confessed in 1970. But this execution did not satisfy the sicko, and a month later he was once again on the prowl. Edwards wanted a more hands on experience.
His next target was a 15 year old boy named Roger Dale Madison who was friends with his son. Despite the social connection between Edwards and Madison’s family, the monster still did not balk when it came to taking the teenagers life. On December 16 1968, Madison got into an argument with his dad and took off on his motorcycle.
Mack lived just a few houses down from the teen and likely watched him leave and saw an opportunity. He later told investigators that he had lured Madison into an orange grove. Among the trees, Edwards proposed they play a game which involved tying him up. Once Roger was defenseless, the creature pulled out a knife and plunged it into the boy.
Once again, he would bury his victim under a freeway, this time in Thousand Oaks. However, despite police searches as recent as 2005, the body was never discovered. It seems that Exwards did not have a strong preference as far as the gender of his victims, as there is a mix of boys and girls.
6 months after the Madison homicide, Edwards would take his last known victim. 13 year old Donald Allen Todd had been suspended from school on May 16 1969. He disappeared on his way home and would he found by 2 kids. He had been assaulted and shot with a .22 caliber pistol.
The final act of evil occurred on March 5 1970. In this case, Mack Ray Exwards enlisted the help of a 15 year old accomplice who would not be named due to his age. Together the pair kidnapped 3 sisters from their Sylmar home. 12 year old Valerie, 13 year old Cindy, and 14 year old Jan Cohen had been Edwards neighbors and he had likely had his eye on them for a while.
Edwards forced the girls to write a note to their parents saying that they had run away from home then took them to a secluded part of the Angeles national forest. Thankfully, 2 of the girls were able to escape the sick creature and his underage accomplice. Knowing the game was up and that the girls would surely report him for what he had done, Edwards let the last sister go free.
Then next day, Mack Ray Edwards walked into the San Fernando Valley police station. He confessed to taking the lives of 6 kids and to kidnapping the Cohen sisters. He would claim that the guilt over what he had done was nearly unbearable, stopping him from eating and sleeping. This is obviously nonsense as he had committed his first homicide 17 years prior and was able to continue working and blending in with his family and friends.
Police searched the areas where the creature said he had left the bodies, and 3 were recovered. In court, Edwards proclaimed his guilt arguing with his lawyer and the judge who rejected his guilty plea. The trial was delayed by the creatures attempts to take his own life. He had tried to slice open his stomach with a razor and on another occasion he tried to overdose on medication.
Mack Ray Edwards would complain that the trial was a terrible ordeal to put the his victims families through and begged for the electric chair. While he did not get his wish to be sent to old sparky, on June 5 of 1971, he was sentenced to the gas chamber and sent to San Quentin prison where he occupied a cell next to Charles Manson.
But Mack Ray Edwards would not live to see the his execution date. On October 30th of 1971, the creature took his own life in his cell, using an electrical cord to hang himself.
While there are only 3 victims that can be proven beyond a doubt and 6 that are extremely likely based on the confession, there are a handful of other cases that are suspected to be connected to Edwards and the investigation has continued into the 21st century with a variety of searches for his missing victims.

Serial Killer Zoltán Ember Hungarian Evil #trucrime
Zoltan Ember
From 1991 to 2004 a depraved creature took the lives of 5 people, including his own brother. While his name makes him sound like an anime character. Zolton ember started with his abusive alcoholic stepfather- using a wrench to crush his skull. The rest he strangled with either his bare hands as in the case of his brother or his preferred method-tying them up so that as they struggled the rope tightened around their throats. Once the evil act was done, Zoltan ransacked their homes for cash and valuables. Keep in mind that most of this monsters victims were in their 80s and lived in the same small Hungarian village as him, essentially his neighbors, making Ember even more pathetic and evil.
Zoltan Ember
Zoltan Ember was was born in 1962 and grew up in the Hungarian village, Szentkirályszabadja. The area had 2 separate social infrastructures, the villagers and the Soviet military installation. Embers home life was less than ideal- his father was an abusive alcoholic and even after he passed away, the mistreatment continued.
Zoltan’s stepfather, Istvan Veghelyi, was more or less the same as his father without the blood ties. The resentment began to build against Istvan, and in time it would reach a breaking point. Zoltan dropped out of school early and began working as a butcher.
He did not spend long as a butcher and soon made a living by work odd jobs. His primary source of legitimate income was as labor at construction sites. But he had other means of making money, and by the time he was 25 he had been prosecuted for nearly a dozen offenses and had been locked up several times.
In 1987, after a release from prison Zoltan moved out of his parents house and in with a handful of women. A year later, he was living with a woman named Juli. Zoltan would demonstrate some of the evil he was capable, when during an argument he stabbed Juli in the back(Wikipedia has this as a previous gf named ludmilla but cites a Hungarian article that has Juli as the victim). Thankfully she survived the attack and he would once again be sent to prison, but he received only 3 years for causing life threatening bodily harm rather than attempted murder.
Once he got out of prison, Zoltan embraced crime and gave in to his vicious impulses. His first stop was his parents house to pay a visit on his stepfather on October 12 1991. Using a wrench he clubbed Istvan Veghelyi before robbing him. Zoltan would later say one of his reasons for taking what he did was that he had wanted to go to the villages harvest ball, but had no money after being in prison.
As police investigated the homicide, Zoltan became a person of interest. But despite being interrogated, investigators did not have enough evidence and so the crime went unsolved. And for a while it seemed like the monster was able to restrain his murderous impulses, but he continued to fund his gambling and drinking habits through relatively low level crime.
In December of 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed which led to a massive change in Hungary as military outposts were more or less deserted in some cases as soviet soldiers went home. This led to a little bit of friction between Hungary and its former ally as the Soviets demanded that Hungary compensate them for the military equipment they were leaving behind. All this might have had an impact on the investigation into the death of Istvan.
By the summer of 1999 Zoltan was getting desperate for money, but he saw an opportunity in the house that he owned with his 49 year old brother, Istvan. The pair started drinking, and at some point Zoltan floated the idea of selling the house. When Istvan refused to go along with it a fight ensued which ended with Zoltan strangling him.
The creature then loaded the body into a wheelbarrow which he used to cart it out of the village. Once he was a ways out and away from prying eyes, Zoltan buried it where it would be found months later. Once again police had little to work with as far as evidence, less than in the case of the stepfather due to the deterioration of the remains.
Having gotten away with 2 murders, Zoltan saw no problem with continuing, and he continued to have money problems. His solution was to target the elder residents of Szentkirályszabadja. This time, he planned these crimes more than he had before. He claims that as he watched movies, Zoltan developed an interest in the use to ropes. In his free time, the creature began practices various knots to prepare for his next attacks.
On the night July 7th 2002, he broke into the home of an 88 year old woman, named Károlyné Horváth. He clubbed the elderly woman then tied her up with a rope around her neck that was also looped around her wrists and legs. As Horváth struggled to free herself, it tightened until she could no longer breathe.
Just under a year later, he did the same thing as he had with Horváth, this time targeting an 83 year old man named Pál Jankó on June 22, 2003. Zoltan beat the old man before tying him up in the same way as his previous victim. With two elderly victims found in the same way, police were extremely aware that some of the deaths in the village over the past several years had not been random one off incidents. The community was also in terror, knowing that one of their neighbors was taking the lives of the most vulnerable of them.
After he had skated away scot free 3 times, Ember began to get arrogant. He was drunk when he broke into the home of an 82 year old woman Károlyné Pinter on March 7th 2004. Once again using a rope, he restrained the woman in the same way as he had before, then ransacked her home as she took her last breaths.
Perhaps because he was drunk or he had become so sure he could not be caught, this time he left behind evidence. Police would find DNA left behind at the crime scene. Whether he cut himself and bled or something else the Hungarian sources do not specify. But in any case, police were knew that their suspect lived in the small village and so they simply took samples from the 50 shadiest people in the area, with Zoltan Ember among them.
This time as the monster continued living life as usual completely unaware of what evidence he had left behind, police were quickly zeroing in the killer. And a few days later, the dna test results came in pointat Ember as their culprit. When they brought the 42 year old, he denied any involvement at first, but once confronted with the evidence, Zoltan became fairly candid about his crimes.
In his confession, the creature described what he had done. He would even tell investigators about the murder of his brother and stepfather. By 2007, he had had both his trial and appeal for the 5 homicides and been sent to prison with a life sentence. During the trials, he seemed unconcerned about the crimes and utterly unremorseful, grinning throughout portions and making bizarre statements to the press including to insinuate that he had more victims that were unknown to investigators.
I don't feel sorry for them. They didn't have time to beg for their lives. Did I enjoy the kill? No, but it didn't bother me either
- Zoltán Ember 2005
Despite his bravado during the trial Zoltan was not ready to spend a life to me behind bars. He soon began trying to own his own life. Once with a blade and once with poison. But on April 24, 2015 after 8 years of being locked up, he was successful- using a bedsheet to hang himself.
I do not care. I cut my veins, drank nicotine once. They saved me both times. It's a shame, I'd rather have it all over with. I don't think there is a continuation after death, the maggots eat you, and then you're fine.

Who’s the most vicious gangster you know? What did they do? Chances are they are pale in comparison to a Roy DeMeo who is suspected of taking as many as 200 lives. His victims included other gangsters, informants, as well as innocent civilians not involved in crime. His victims were lured by his bloodthirsty crew to an apartment in the back of a nightclub where they were dispatched with a single headshot, then a towel was wrapped around their skull to prevent an even bigger mess before they were drained then cut to pieces which were then sent to the dump. This creature stirred up so much trouble that his own gang was tasked with getting rid of him by a leader of either the Lucchese or Gambino crime family. With such a horrific record and hundreds of victims, this mobster was a true monster.
Roy Demeo was born on September 7 1940 in New York City. As he grew up the mafia was actively building a new income base through Las Vegas casinos. His chikdhood was not easy- his parents had immigrated from Italy and was not wealthy with his father providing for his wife and 5 kids by working as a laundry delivery man. In 1951 when Roy was 11, his older brother became a casualty of the Korean War at only 20 years old.
As a teenager, DeMeo worked in a grocery store. While there he also trained as a butcher, learning skills he would later use in the most evil of ways. He attended James Madison High school, graduating in 1959 alongside classmate Bernie Sanders. Life took another rough turn when Roy’s father passed away of a heart attack in 1960 and his mother returned to Italy. That same year, DeMeo would marry a woman named Gladys Rosamond Brittain with whom he would have 3 children.
DeMeo caught the eye of the mob in 1966. He had been associated with a branch of the Luchese family which ran some semi-legitimate businesses and an auto theft ring, which DeMeo would come to specialize in. He was approached by a Gambino soldier named Anthony Gaggi as he drank in a bar called the Gemini lounge and recruited to come work for them.
Roy would get involved with loansharking with Gaggi while also putting together his crew to steal cars. The first to be recruited to this ring was a 16 year old named Chris Rosenberg. He had seen the youth selling marijuana and helped him develop his business with loans. The teenager would help DeMeo recruit his friends and DeMeo would gather others into his fledgling operation.
By the early 1970s the full crew would be made up of Rosenberg, Anthony Senter, Joseph and Patrick Testa, Joseph Guglielmo who went by Dracula, Richard and Frederick DiNome, and Henry Borelli, later it would come to include Vito Arena, and Carlo Profeta. DeMeo would also get on the board of directors for a credit union which came in handy for laundering money and because of the access to funds that it provided.
But Roy was also building his reputation through other means. In 1974, the underboss of the Bonanno family would tell the FBI that DeMeo had disposed of at least one body for them. But as his notoriety increased, DeMeo also ran into trouble with some of his own associates.
In particular, an auto repair shop owner named Andre Katz went to authorities in 1975. He gave them details on Rosenbergs involvement in the car thefts, which Katz had been a part of. One of the detectives was on DeMeos payroll and the gangster was quickly notified. A young woman was recruited in the plot to neutralize the threat to Roy and his criminal enterprise.
On June 13 of 1975, DeMeos crew used her to lure Katz to an apartment. Instead of a date, he was kidnapped by the gang. They took him to Queens where he was stabbed repeatedly before using a compactor to crush his head then wrapped in plastic and left in a dumpster. Before the garbage truck could collect him, one of the body parts was seen and reported. Katz was somehow still identified days later using his dental records.
This was the second known time the DeMeo or his crew had taken a life. In June 29 1973, DeMeo and Nino Gaggi had shot a man named Paul Rothenberg twice. He had been suspected of cooperating with authorities, and everyone knows what the mob does to snitches, well most of them (Sammy image)
Despite this exposure, the DeMeo crew devised a special procedure for making their enemies disappear. Though not every subsequent victim would go through this process, through disposal method is a driver of the range in the potential body mount of 75 to 200. Roy and the members of his organization had begun using the Gemini lounge as their headquarters.
Many would enter the bar who would never leave alive again. Since DeMeo was a silent partner, he had nearly unlimited access. Targets would be taken through a side door into a small apartment. Once there, one of the crew members would shoot them in the head. Members who later turned states evidence would say DeMeo would be the one to do this.
Whoever pulled the trigger would quickly wrap a towel around the victim like a turban. This would avoid any more blood than necessary to end up in the apartment. To stop the blood pumping another would use a knife to penetrate the heart then the body was put in a tub to drain.
Finally plastic was laid out Dexter style and the victim would be split apart and wrapped up. The pieces were put into boxes and sent to the fountain avenue dump. With the sheer volume of garbage delivered each day, these special packages would be totally buried soon after they arrived. In 1985 the dump was paved over making any further searching impossible.

SERIAL KILLER Ted Kaczynski #truecrime
UNABOMBER
An infamous name has been back in the news again lately, but from the late 70s to the mid 90s, the nickname given to this creature by a law enforcement task force made headlines, striking fear into every American. This monster did not use knives, firearms, or ropes to commit his acts of evil. From a remote cabin in rural Montana he assembled explosives to mail to universities and airlines taking 3 lives and maiming many more. The motive was to call attention to the stripping of freedom and the fraying of society by technology and industry as outlined in a 35000 word essay sent to the media in 1995. As a teen he had been a math prodigy to the point he attended Harvard at 16 on a scholarship. The isolated teen was also the subject of a brutal psychological experiment led by the predecessor of the CIA which is believed to have played a pivotal part in his becoming the UNABOMBER
Ted Kaczynsky
Ted Kaczynsky was born to Wanda and Richard Kaczynsky on May 22 1942in Chicago Illinois. His working class parents were polish who had gotten married 3 years prior and his father Richard worked as a sausage maker. In 1949, Richard got a baby brother named David.
Ted had attended Sherman elementary school in the city of chicago, where his teachers said he was a normal healthy child and he would say himself how he had been social and even referred to himself as a leader among his peers. In 1952, the family moved to Evergreen park where neighbors described his parents as devoted and the boys as smart especially Ted.
After the 5th grade, Kaczynskis family had him tested and he was found to have an IQ of 167, which with his academic achievement resulted in him skipping the 6th grade. Ted did not have an easy transition and he was bullied by the older kids. This was the beginning of Teds descent.
Despite the social misery that he was put through, Kaczynski continued to excel academically and participate in various clubs, but his main focus and interest was math. With a handful of other kids, he would work to solve complex math problems, and the group became known as the briefcase boys. Sort of like a 1950s version of the trench coat mafia.
Kaczynski graduated from high school at age 15 and was accepted to Harvard with a scholarship. A year later at only 16 his family packed his bags and sent him off to the prestigious university. He was housed with other young students at 8 Prescott street in Cambridge which was referred to as the Eliot house where he would spend 3 years until he got his bachelors in Math in 1962 with a 3.12 grade point average.
Despite being socially isolated and barely old enough to drive, a Harvard psychologist named Henry Murray decided he was a prime candidate for an intense and brutal psychological experiment. Participants were told that they would debate their personal beliefs with other classmates. To this end, they were instructed to write essays detailing their beliefs and life goals.
Instead of a debate, the subjects were viciously attacked verbally and their written statements were used to make these sessions as personal and degrading as possible. While they were being psychologically torn apart, electrodes were hooked up to monitor their internal reaction and cameras recorded their physical reactions and outbursts of anger. The film of their reactions were played back to them repeatedly.
This bizarre and disgusting experiment lasted 3 years and Kaczynski himself was brought in to be degraded once a week. He would spent over 200 hours in these sessions and his lawyers would later state that they had pushed him over the edge into violence and hostility.
There are aspects of Henry Murray that lead to other questions in addition to criticism over the nature of the experiment. During world war 2, he had been a part of the Office of Strategic Sevices which was the predecessor to the CIA. This is also the organization that conducted the mind control experiment known as MK Ultra that was once considered a conspiracy, but records now prove was real.
Many suspect that the Harvard experiment was a part of this program. And Kaczynskis lawyers certainly believed it was a major factor in his later crimes, but the Unabomber himself said that while he resented Murray, the experience had little impact on his life and beliefs.
Once he had his bachelors degree in mathematics, Ted applied to at the University Of Michigan, the university of Chicago and UC Berkeley. All 3 accepted him, but Michigan offered him a considerable grant and a teaching position. He went on to get a masters degree in 1964 and his doctorate in 1967.
During his time in graduate school, Kaczynski focused on geometric function theory. Teachers and colleagues said he was exceptionally smart and dedicated. Though Ted would later say the school was too lenient with its grading. In 1966, he had a bit of an internal crisis.
For a brief period, he had a fixation on transitioning to be a female. He made an appointment with a psychiatrist, changed his mind in the waiting room. This was one of the first times he had violent thoughts towards others including the psychiatrist. Ted was shocked with how close he had come to a major life altering change based on sexual fantasies that he blamed on society.
After receiving his doctorate in 1967, Ted became a professor at UC Berkeley. Student reviews were less than positive about him. They said he lectured out of the textbook only and declined to answer any questions from his students.
His inability to connect with students stemmed from an intense shyness that was also reported by other members of the faculty. Perhaps due to this shyness, Kaczynski resigned from his teaching position on June 30 1969.
He would spend a couple years living at his parents house before building a small cabin near Lincoln Montana. The cabin had no running water or electricity and to support his new simple lifestyle, Ted worked odd jobs for people in town, but received most of his money from his family.
But even out in the wilds of Montana, he was not able to escape society and the encroachment of technology. When developers started construction near his plot, Kaczynski sabotaged their equipment and started multiple fires. He finally snapped entirely when one of his favorite places was taken over and his goals shifted from an autonomous lifestyle and towards getting revenge on society.
The bombing began on May 25 1978. From his remote cabin, Ted put together explosive packages to send to various people he thought played a pivotal role in the destruction of his lifestyle and the industrialization of the world. his first target was at a professor of materials engineering at Northwestern named Buckley Crist.
He left a package with the professors name written as the return address in the parking lot of the university, banking on someone to do him the favor of delivering the package. When it arrived in Crists office, he called campus police as he knew he had not wrapped the package.
Officer Terry Marker opened the package causing it to detonate. Luckily he recieved only minor wounds from the explosion. Just under a year later on May 9 1979, he left another package at Northwestern in a cigar box. When a graduate student named John Harris opened it, he also receiver only minor cuts and burns.
But after these initial attempts, Kaczynski seemed ready to go the next level. On November 15 1979 a package was placed on an American Airlines flight from Chicago to DC. While the fuse failed and did not detonate the explosives, it did create a lot of smoke and panic in the airplane leading to an emergency landing.
The package was found to contain more than enough material to destroy the plane had it exploded which drew the attention of federal authorities. The packages were found to include a variety of clues which would later be found to be attempts at misdirection such as initials and notes as well as bits of tree bark.
1979 was the year that a task force made up of agents from the FBI, ATF, and the US postal service was formed. They gave the monster the nickname that he would become known by as soon as it hit the media. They called the case, the UNABOMB case, named for the targets of Univeristies and airlines.
In 2006 the judge who had rejected Kaczynskis appeal ordered that his belongings be auctioned off, all except the instructions and materials for making explosives. The proceeds would go to his victims and the auction raised over $200,000. Kaczynski did not stop writing and exchanged letters with hundreds of people.
In 2010 he released another book, this one called Technological Slavery. Once again he railed against technology and he would release several more books and essays on the subject. In 2012 he replied to the reunion invitation for the his 1962 Harvard class. Though he obviously could not attend, he wanted to update his classmates. He put that his occupation was prisoner and for awards he listed his life sentences.

GANGSTER Sammy “the Bull” Gravano #truecrime
New York has had an organized crime problem nearly since its establishment. And a truly evil man played a major part in it for more than 20 years starting in the 1970s. This monster played a part in an estimated 19 hits and victimized countless people in other ways. But once he was caught, instead of heading to prison for the rest of his miserable life, this creature was able to escape a real penalty by turning rat on his superiors in the organization in 1991. Due to his testimony; this monster was sentenced to just 5 years with a majority of his time already served during the trial. Even after dodging this bullet, he still could not resist engaging in crime and was arrested for ecstasy in 2000. But after another brief stint in prison, he appears to be more or less care free- operating a YouTube channel since 2020 where he brags about his disgusting crimes and former lifestyle.

Aryan Brotherhood Killer Thomas Silverstein #truecrime
Tom Silverstein
Most criminals fear prison- whether it’s the lost time, bad food, crappy living conditions, or fights, but for the unaffiliated there is a bigger threat- prison gangs. There are a handful that have become household names through horrific violence and their reach into the free world, but one has become more notorious than most- the AB. Their reputation was carved with homemade knives and racial politics. One of the men who led this vicious organization was considered so dangerous after multiple murders behind bars including that of a guard he was moved to a special cell block reserved for the worst of the worst . A life of crime that began at 14 ended with 36 years of solitary confinement.
Thomas Silverstein, AKA Terrible Tom
The man who would become one of the most feared prison inmates of all time was born in Long Beach California on February 4 1952. His mother, Virginia Conway had divorced Thomas’s biological father and gotten remarried to a man named Thomas Conway. By the time her son was 4 years old, Virginia had married for a 3rd time, this time to a man named Sid Silverstein who would adopt the boy.
Thomas was a quiet child and described his childhood home as an angry and violent place. Virginia had spent time in prison for robbery and was known to be physical with her children especially when she was drinking. Silverstein would describe horrific abuse including her forcing him to drink urine after he wet the bed when he was young. Another time, when he had been beaten up by a bully she grabbed the other boy and told Thomas that if he did punch him back she would use her belt on him.
Unable to find an outlet for his rage towards his mother, Thomas once nearly strangled her pet chihuahua. In high school, he began to push back against the beatings. But this would often lead to his mother and her husband to tag team the boy, in at least one case leaving permanent scars.
Thomas took the lessons of violence to heart and at age 15 he got into a fight with a cop which landed him his first trip to prison. As a juvenile, Silverstein was sent to the California Youth Authority or as it is nicknamed today, Gladiator School. This was in 1967, just as racial tensions in the prison system were reaching a boiling point.
Silverstein would later tell how he saw immediately that to survive being incarcerated a person had to fight. The prisoners who tried to stay out of the mix and just do their time often became targets. 4 years later at 19, Silverstein found himself at San Quentin. With the racial situation, the teenager was forced to group up with others like him. It was around this time that Thomas began to associate with the AB.
After 4 years, when he was released, Thomas was ready to start his true criminal career. He got together with his former step dad, Thomas Conway and a cousin named Gerald Hoff and the 3 men began committing armed robberies. In 3 crimes, they were able to get a little over 10 grand, for which they were soon arrested. Now facing federal time, a 25 year old Silverstein was sent to Leavenworth prison in Kansas to serve 15 years in March of 1977.
The illegal activities were under the firm control of the prison gangs, who used extreme violence to enforce their will. On February 17, 1979 a man named Danny Edward Atwell stumbled out of his cell with multiple stab wounds. Guards would hear from inmates that he had refused to have his girlfriend mule drugs into the prison and that the brotherhood had him taken out for it, with Silverstein named as the hitman. Though years later this conviction would be overturned due to being based solely on inmate testimony, at the time it led to Silverstein being sent to a different prison- Marion Federal Penitentiary in Illinois.
If Tom truly had nothing to do with the murder, he would have truly felt like the system was set against him. This would explain his continued allegiance to the Brand and willingness to participate in their violence. A member of the DC Blacks prison gang named Robert Chapelle would end up dead on November 22 1981 with Silverstein and another inmate named Clayton Fountain were convicted for the strangling.
Clayton was another high ranking member of the brotherhood with a violent reputation. He would end up taking 4 lives while behind bars, one of which was a guard killed only hours after Silversteins most infamous crime. In his later years he became a religious scholar and earned several degrees.
Like the murder at Leavenworth, Silverstein would vehemently deny any part in Chapelles death and another inmate named Norman Matthews even confessed in open court. This did not stop Silverstein and Fountaon from earning a life sentence as well as animosity from the African American gangs and inmates.
Soon after the death of Chapelle, a leader of the DC Blacks arrived at Marion. Raymond Smith had gone by Cadillac on the streets, but behind bars he would adopt a new nickname- the sword of justice. smith made it known that he planned to get revenge for Chapelle and there were 2 documented attempts on Solversteins life despite the intense control and security of the prison.
Thomas tried to convince Smith that he was not to blame for Chappelles death, but it was not effective. On September 27 1982, Silverstein would one again team up with Clayton Fountain to neutralize the threat. With homemade knives they would escape from an exercise pen and inflict 67 stab wounds in Smith then the two gangsters paraded the body around the cell house, to show that they had no fear of the staff and to strike terror into the other inmates.
The strife between the racial groups in the prison escalated after this brazen murder and the guards saw terrible Tom as a major catalyst for the tension. Since he had apparently been able to continue committing heinous acts of violence under the strictest control, the guards began paying special attention to him.
One of the officers tasked with controlling the gang leader was a 51 year old man named Merle Clutts. There are multiple stories for why Tom wanted to attack the 19 year veteran guard- some say that he had threatened to give Silverstein to his rivals which would have been a death sentence. While others say it was because Clutts had taken his drawing pencils and destroyed his art. However, an investigation by the FBI cleared Clutts of any wrongdoing.
Whatever the reason, Silverstein wanted to attack the guard and put a plan into action. On October 22 1983, just over a year after the attack on Smith, Tom was being escorted back to his cell from the shower by Merle Clutts. Stopping at a friend named Randy Gometzs cell, Tom rested his hands on the bars as he spoke to the other inmate. Gometz slipped him a cuff key and a knife then Silverstein whirled around and attacked, stabbing the older man around 40 times. When he was done, Tom dropped the weapon and surrendered to the other guards.
Marion prison went on a hard lockdown which would last years, but this was not the last of the craziness regarding Silverstein. In 1987, Tom was locked down in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary in Georgia. Remeber the beginning of Scarface when Cuba sent a huge number of criminals to the US including Tony Montana? Well a lot of them continued committing crimes and were subsequently sent to us prisons.
The Cuban government agreed to take back a few thousand of their citizens and 1400 of those facing deportation were incarcerated in the Atlanta prison. They were not at all happy about being sent back to a failing nation and so without an alternative means of protest they rioted and took over the prison on November 23 1987.
The rioters quickly took dozens of hostages and broke open cells doors and the gates that divided the different cell blocks. Interestingly, the prison pharmacist said that they did not raid his supplies and the hostages reported being treated fairly well in many cases. One inmate was shot during the takeover, but even the armed guards could not stop the detainees whose crimes ranged from arson to murder.
One of the cells that was broken open was the small chamber where Thomas Silverstein had been housed since his last murder. He had only been allowed out for one hour of recreation a week under a 4 guard escort. Even the Cuban detainees knew that Silverstein was different from other inmates and kept a close eye on him. Meanwhile outside the prison, the gathered fbi and military personnel worried that he might become a leader of the inmates and rally them together.
While the Cubans kept Silverstein under guard, he was still quite busy as one report has him putting together a small glider that was powered with a weed eater engine. These vehicles are sometimes referred to as ultra lights, but this one would never take flight. In regular radio communications, the negotiators made it clear that they wanted silverstein out of the mix.
Hoping to improve the chances of their demand being accepted, the Cuban detainees drugged the ab leader and murderer then turned him over to authorities a few days before they surrendered. News of the elites soldiers arrival scared the rioters and on December 4 they freed the last hostages and submitted to authorities.
Silverstein was moved over to Leavenworth prison where he would spend the next 18 years. At first he was kept in his underwear and deprived of any belongings. This would be loosened once prison officials realized it was harder to control him if he didn’t have anything they could take from him such as his art materials. In 2005 the Kansas prison was designated as a medium security and Tom was moved to his final destination- the ADX Supermax in Florence Colorado. He spent his time under what is referred to as “no human contact” status.

Serial Killer Jeffrey Mailhot #truecrime
Jeffrey Mailhot
From February of 2003 to July of 2004 3 women disappeared from the streets of Woonsocket Rhode Island. While a suspect did confess to taking their lives, only 1 of the bodies was discovered. The monster would tell police how he had pick up his victims who were working girls, then strangle them. To dispose of their remains, he cut them into pieces in his bathtub taking inspiration from an episode of the Sopranos, put the parts in garbage bags, then threw them into various dumpsters. Based on his methods and targets, the monster was given the ominous classification as a ripper. It was not until a victim was able to escape the creatures apartment that police were pointed in the right direction to catch:
Jeffrey Mailhot, the Rhode Island Ripper
Jeffrey Mailhot was born on November 9th 1970. He grew up in Woonsocket Rhode Island and graduated from the local high school. Jeffrey seemed to be simply part of the background and unnoticed in many ways, which is summed up by the fact that on his senior yearbook, there is no photo for him, just a note that he was camera shy.
His childhood and young adult life had not been easy. When he was 9, his parents divorced, when he was 17, his mother died of lung cancer, and when he was 22 his father died of the same disease. Mailhot lack of social recognition was not for lack of trying. Residents recall periods where he would swagger around, riding a Harley Davidson, and trying to find a place among a group of bikers.
Friends recall him as social when in their company and a heavy drinker, but it seems that when in public he sipped at the same drink hidden in a corner of the crowd as remembered by the local bartenders. Jeffrey also showed a dark side, going into dark moods and making alarming statements.
Around this time in the mid 90s several prostitutes had gone missing, but they were typically found to be isolated and unconnected incidents. But things changed in the first years of the 21st century when a string of murders shocked the small densely populated city. At the time, Jeffrey was the only tenant in a small apartment building at 221 Cato street in Woonsocket.
It started on February 9th 2003, when Mailhot picked up a 33 year old woman named Audrey Harris. The creature took her to his apartment and the moment they walked in the door, he attacked, strangling the poor woman to death. Then, not knowing what to do with the body, Mailhot simply kept it in his apartment for more than a day.
While watching the HBO show, the Sopranos, he got an idea. In the episode called Whoever did this, in the 4th season, Tony strangled Ralphie then Tony and Chrissy use a cleaver to chop up the body in a bath tub before dumping it in various locations. Inspired, Mailhot went to a nearby hardware store and bought a saw. Just like the show, he put the body and cut it into pieces, then wrapped the parts in plastic and dumped them in several different dumpsters.
In April Harris was reported missing and her mother, Claudette Harris, put flyers up around the parts of Woonsocket where her daughter had hung around. Unfortunately, even after the monster was arrested, her body was never recovered.
Just over a year later in April of 2004, Jeffrey Mailhot was ready to take another life. 42 year old Christine Dumont was working the street when the creature picked her up for a date. Christine had a hard life she had been attacked by customer and once she had even been hit by a train.
Like he had done with Harris, Jeffrey took her to his apartment then attacked. Since it had seemed to work with Harris, Jeffrey once again used the bath tub method before disposing on the body parts in dumpsters around the city.
Christine’s disappearance did not go unnoticed by law enforcement. She had been beaten with a metal pipe shortly before her disapearance and was scheduled to testify against her attacker. The monster, a man named Timothy Scanlon, was still convicted because another of his victims was still available and he eas convicted in 2005. But since police had been monitoring him at the time of Christine’s disappearance, he was not considered a suspect.
However, Scanlon could also not be connected to the disappearance of Audrey Harris and so investigators knew there was at least one other culprit behind the string of attacks in the area. And he was not done yet.
On the 4th of July in 2004, a woman named Stacie Goulet was reported missing by her boyfriend. The 24 year old had been leaving a fireworks show when she was picked up, never to be seen alive again. Mailhot followed the same procedure as with his previous 2 victims and Goulet was soon discarded in local dumpsters.
Growing desperate, the police department had female officers go undercover as working girls to try to find the person responsible for the 3 unsolved missing persons cases of Harris, Dumont, and Goulet. However the sting was unsuccessful, and it was not until an anonymous tip came in that there was a break in the case.
An unidentified man called police and told them that they should talk to a woman named Jocelin Martel. She had told him about a customer who had attacked her from behind after they arrived at his apartment, but that she had managed to escape. From prison, Martel deacrived the location of the apartment and after searching for other reports, investigators got a similar story from a woman named Teese Morris who said it had happened to her on February 15 2004.
The owner of the apartment was listed as Jeffrey Mailhot. Arriving at the apartment, police found it to be nearly spotless and totally organized, that is aside from the bathroom which was a mess and coated in what looked like bloodstains. Their suspicions were confirmed using luminol testing which showed that something truly horrific had occurred in the bathtub.
When questioned, Mailhot denied any involvement with the missing women and his accusers initially, but soon admitted to patronizing the working girls in the city. When confronted with the photos of Harris, Dumont, and Goulet, he was unable to restrain himself and soon confessed to the 3 murders.
Jeffrey described how he had approached his victims from behind and choked them before dismembering them and dumping the pieces around the city. Despite the confession and a thorough search of the landfills in the area, only the body of Stacie Goulet was ever located, but dna testing of the bathroom confirmed that both Harris and Dumont had lost their lives at the creatures hands.
Jeffrey Mailhot was charged with 3 murders, one count of assault with the intent to murder, and one count of felony assault. In February of 2006, he plead guilty and was sentenced to multiple life terms plus 10 years. However despite his victims families telling the court the impact of his actions, the creature is still eligible for parole in the year 2047. Jeffrey Mailhot is currently housr in the maximum security prison in Cranston Rhode Island.

Serial Killer Robert Maudsley- the Brain Eater #truecrime
Robert Maudsley
This subject was suggested by a friend of the channel- Mark D, check him out in the comments. Thank you mark!
Many of the vicious creatures we’ve looked at on this channel eventually end up in prison for their horrific crimes and some even met their end at the hands of other inmates. But there are others who are the ones taking lives behind bars.
But for this video we are going to look at a monster who committed the majority of his crimes behind bars.
From 1974 to 1978, one particular UK monster took the lives of 4 people- the first in London and the rest while incarcerated at the Broadmoor asylum and Wakefield prison. After a bumpy start in life, he began his series of murders at only 21 years old. The first victim was garroted, and the violence only escalated once he got behind bars, and the lives he took while incarcerated were also stabbed and one was tortured to death. In one case he claims to have eaten part of the brain of one victim leading to his ominous nickname. it is rare for a prisoner to receive a true life sentence in the UK and there are less than 100 of them in the whole country, but in this case it was totally justified. It is reported that this creature is also the current world record holder for most time spent in solitary confinement.
Robert Maudsley, the Brain Eater
Robert Maudsley was born in Liverpool, England on June 26 1953 as the youngest of 4 children. At 6 months old, he and his siblings were left at a Catholic orphanage in Crosby called the Nazareth house where they would spend 9 years before their parents came back for them.
Unfortunately, despite being back with his family, Roberts life would become drastically worse. He would later say how the only thing he could remember about his childhood was the punishments and beatings that landed on him and his 2 older brothers. He would also recount one instance where he was locked in his room for months and beaten several times a day.
After less than a year, Robert was sent away to live with foster parents. Considering he was the only child to
Be sent away, this must have had a profound impact on his developing mind and self esteem. By age 16 he was living rough in London using drugs heavily and had been hospitalized multiple times.
After trying to end his own life, the youth would end up in a psych ward where he would tell staff that he heard voices urging him to kill his parents. When he was on the streets of London, he had one way to make money to fuel his habits- selling his body.
It was as he was working as what they call a rent boy in London that Maudsley met his first victim. On March 14 1974, 30 year old John Farrell picked Robert up in the Wood Green neighborhood of London. According to the killer, Farrell showed him photos of boys the man had done terrible things to which sent Maudsley into a rage. He used a garrote to strangle Farrell then smashed his head with a hammer and stabbed him.
After the first murder, Maudsley turned himself in, telling police that he needed psychiatric help. And indeed, he was found to be unfit to stand trial so he was sent to Broadmoor hospital. It was after he was incarcerated that the creature made a reputation for himself. After 3 years in Broadmoor, Robert Maudsley would commit the crime that earned him his nickname.
On the 26th of February, 1977, Maudsley and another inmate named David Cheeseman attacker a man named David Francis. The 26 year old had been convicted of doing terrible things to kids. Maudsley and Cheeseman dragged him into a cell, tied him up, and blocked the door then spent the next 9 hours torturing him. Once again, the monster would use a garrote to dispatch his victim.
When they were done, the took Francis out of the cell and held his body up so that the facility’s staff would see. This is where the legend of the Brain Eater originates. Some reported that David’s head was split open and a spoon was hanging out of it. However, one of the guards would say that this was not true and that Maudsley had simply made a weapon by forming a plastic spoons handle into a point and stuck it into David’s ear.
The creature would claim that the crime was revenge on behalf of a friend but who knows whether this is true. He was convicted of manslaughter and transferred from Broadmoor hospital to Wakefield prison with a life sentence and recommendation that he never be let out. Robert Maudsley did not like the change of facilities and argued to be moved back to Broadmoor.
On the 29th of July in 1978, Maudsley committed 2 more brutal murders to protest being stuck in prison. The first to fall to the vicious killer was a 46 year old man named Salney Darwood who was in prison for killing his wife and assault. He was lured into Maudsleys cell then the creature wrapped his favored weapon- a garrote around Darwoods neck as he smashed his head into the concrete wall.
Once he was done, Robert stashed the body under his bed and attempted to lure other inmates into his cell. When he was unable to draw any other victims into his chamber of horrors, Maudsley went out in search of another victim, armed with a homemade knife. He was able to corner a 56 year old man named William Roberts who was locked up for abusing a young girl.
Using the homemade knife, Maudsley stabbed Roberts repeatedly, again swinging his victims head into the concrete wall. Once Roberts was dead, the creature approached the guard station , laid the knife on the table and declared that they would be 2 men short during the next roll call.
When asked why he committed these 4 murders, Maudsley claimed that they were all abusers and that he was not a threat to anyone but those who did horrible things to kids. From that fateful day in July of 1978, the creature has been in solitary confinement. But 5 years later in 1983, it was decided that he was too dangerous to be housed in a normal cell. So a glass box was constructed especially for him that is very much like that which housed Hannibal Lecter and he was literally put under the prison.
Maudsley corresponds with a variety of people, writing about the conditions he lives in and complaining. He’s been determined to have a very high IQ and some claim that his actions are a result of his mistreatment as a child. But while this is unfortunate, it does not excuse his brutal crimes. In 2000 he petitioned to be allowed to end his own life if his confinement could not be relaxed. Both requests were denied. This twisted monster also asked if he could have a pet bird, which leads to the question, does he actually think he deserves any sort of comfort after what he did? He is lucky that he is still allowed to go out to exercise.
At the time of writing, Robert Maudsley has spent more than 44 years in solitary confinement. At 69 years old, his days of violence maybe over, but his current living situation ensures that this is the case.

Dennis Nilsen
From 1978 to 1983 at least a dozen young men vanished from the city of London. They fell prey to this sadistic this sadistic and evil man, who did not let them go even after he took their lives. Many were found stashed around his home like some kind of sick trophy and several have still not been identified. The creature performed dissections on the young men and did unspeakable things with their bodies. The horrific crimes were not discovered until the drains became clogged with bits of human meat and bone. Once the police were in his home, the monster openly showed them the remains that he had kept in his apartment. His crimes and actions lead many to compare him to the Milwaukee Cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer and some of their crimes occured around the same time.
