Continuing mods for my 2022 Polaris Ranger XP1000 Northstar Ultimate sunset red VLOG. Does sound deadening really work? Then I will trim some of the plastic skid plate material to try to eliminate the tire rubbing. I will also install an upper bumper/upper brush guard on my Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate to better protect the headlight assemblies on this machine. Our current plan is for each of us to have new Polaris Northstar Ultimate in anticipation of Sharon being able to retire in about a year and a half, so that we each have our own machine to enjoy in the future. Sharon here. What goes best with a DIY hewn log bed? A matching bench at the foot end of it! This is unique, organic decor at it's best. I take the Polaris UTV out to our woods in a natural sandstone creek bed and pick stones of different shapes and sizes for the base. Using a 100 year old hewn oak log from the log smokehouse we disassembled, I take a pressure washer to bring the brilliant warm colors of the sandstone out and the rich oak grain and axe marks. The combination of colors and textures are rustic, original yet functional. This is part 1 - acquiring and prepping the materials. Stay tuned for part 2 of the final assembly. I can't wait to get it in our VRBO cabin for others to enjoy. Maybe some day you'll be sitting on it!

What a great property tour and 5 year look back with a very special guest today! This weekend we got all of the plumbing & septic lines set for our future vrbo cabin build project, and our plumber, Casey, who also did all of the plumbing in our current home 5 years ago, had is son Parker along to help him out while I was cutting a new 1/4 mile trail through fangorn forest with my bobcat e42 r2 series mini excavator. Beautiful soft ride, but the new tires are rubbing! Join me for today's episode as I change out the stock 29" tires on my 2022 Polaris Ranger XP1000 crew sunset red side by side. I purchased these tires recently from the guy that we bought Sharon's 'used' 2022 Polaris Ranger XP1000 Northstar Ultimate from, as he had them lined up to put on his Ranger but hadn't got around to it yet. Join me in the shop and barn today as I swap out the tires, take some test rides, then come back and do a shock adjustment, stiffening up the shocks by 2 notches and then another trail ride. I'll also consider a couple of options for curing the tires rubbing on the fender problem, including adding UTV tire spacers, and/or making a small cutout on the plastic on the inner wheel wells. The tires are barely rubbing, so I think I'm in good shape debating my options. Today I started on our new trail system in the woods for our future VRBO cabin rental. As part of the cabin rental we will be offering roughly 20 acres of private trails and exploring for those who rent our future vrbo cabin. In today's episode I'll start the trail system and cut at least a 1/4 mile of new trails through some deep woods and thick wooded undergrowth with my bobcat e42 R2 series mini excavator. Today is a short, behind the scenes episode of Pro Staffer Phil preparing fire breaks in the woods of his 85 acre Southern Illinois farm. There are many different methods that you'll see today including some Kioti tractor loader work, some Kioti tractor and a land plane, leaf blower and tractor grapple work. Also prior to using the Kioti tractor, he was using my bobcat T650 CTL skid steer, but he was in a hurry to get the 'newly required' fire breaks done since the prescribed burn team leader added more fire breaks to the list since the first time the prescribed burn assessment was made. But this will give you a decent idea of the methods used to prepare fire breaks for a prescribed burn, especially in the woods. Join me for some fresh air and deep woods scenery as I complete the logging road portion of this 5 acre project property with my Bobcat e42 R2 series mini excavator and my Mongo tilt bucket. I had to pull a couple of oak trees, but the majority of what I had to finish was grading work on steep hills, so the Mongo tilt bucket was the best tool for that. And since I only had to pull 2 trees I thought I'd just leave the Mongo tilt bucket on, and improvise, adapt & overcome and use the tilt bucket. The differences, when it comes to grubbing and pulling trees is that the tilt bucket has a smooth edge, whereas the digging bucket has teeth, and the excavator thumb doesn't work when the tilt buck it on. But I think I can make it work! Now if you've ever done or seen this kind of land management and excavation work, with such overgrown woods it can be very challenging to stay on the property that you are working on and not go over the boundaries of the neighboring property! Well, as usual my buddy Curtis Rogers, from Midwest Farm & Land, down here in Southern Illinois is probably going to get me in over my head again! Join us for a quick tag along video of our initial assessment of a very remote property that borders the Shawnee National Forest as he is working with the landowner's to parcel off a couple of 20 acre parcels. But the property is so thick that in places you can hardly even walk through it. But before the first sale can go through it has to be surveyed, and as of right now the surveyor can't get his equipment in there seeing how thick the overgrown brush is. So today we'll take a walk in the woods and check it out.
