🪴🔝TOP TRICK & HACK 🔝🪴 Daisy Chain SECURE TINY Orchid Keikis #ninjaorchids #hack #trick #shorts
#orchidcare #orchids #dendrobium
Dendrobium keikis can be really tiny and slippery to secure in a pot. Mounting orchid keikis that are so small is ideal, however, in some climates that is not possible. To cultivate several separate orchid keikis in a pot and keep them steady and secure so that they can root in, I have this amazing hack that you can copy in case you come up against a similar situation. This has worked beautifully and the keikis are not into their 2nd year still connected by the daisy chain, and growing their own new growths! #beginners #tips #tipsandtricks #hack #viral #orchideen #orquideas #repotting

Orchid Keiki PROPAGATION Project IDEA for YOU Bloom Curtain #ninjaorchids #keiki #mount #shorts
#orchids #orchidcare #mounts
Orchids being an expensive commodity, not just purchasing them but also caring for them over the years, unless you grow orchids in their ideal climate al fresco, it is always fantastic to have some orchids that give back by means of keikis! My dendrobium aphyllum is such an orchid and I try to propagate all the keikis this mother plant gives me. As my dendrobium aphyllum is now 6 years in my collection, I have started a huge mount to pin all the keikis on. The idea being that in 2026 I will have myself a living curtain of pink blooms every spring. This mount is cheap as well as light weight and it is inorganic so that the keikis can grow to size without me having to interfere at all. #orchideen #orquideas #tips #beginners #project #tricks #viral

💆🏼♀️ Therapeutic 👌🏼 Cleaning Orchid Roots #ninjaorchids #orchidcare #repotting #shorts
#orchids #repot #roots
I LOVE a good root ball clean up, especially when they are as easy to do as was the case with my Laelia tenebrosa var. Aurea. She has been in Semi Hydroponic set up for 3 years, is not a generous root system grower, but I am pleased with what I have that remains viable in the pot after the repot. This orchid repot was timed to match with new root nubbins just starting from the new growth. This allows the new roots to get into a pot that has clean media as well as viable older roots. I intend to not repot this orchid for another 3 years, if all goes according to plan. #orchideen #orchidcare #orquideas #tips #beginners

💥 ENDANGERED💥 SAVE this Species! 🙌🏼 Grow Dendrobium munificum SAVE it from Extinction #ninjaorchids
#extinction #endangeredspecies #orchids
This orchid is also called Inobulbon munificum and it is endemic to New Caledonia in the Pacific, and only found on the Island of Grand Terre! There is no other place where this dendrobium munificum grows, and it is endangered. Not just because of climate change, with wild fires and unseasonaly dry conditions, but also rodents snack on this orchid and of course, human intervention in the form of taking orchids from the wild play a factor. Dendrobium munificum arrived in my collection in 2018 as a seedling and finally it bloomed for the first time with an amazing display. I can attest to the species not being able to pollinate fast enough because of rodents taking out the blooms very quickly. If it wasn't a rodent, then possibly a grasshopper because within one week of the spike fully opened, it took 48 hrs for all the blooms to have been nibbled off. Which is super unfortunate! It was wonderful to see what I experienced and if you want to know how to care for this orchid, click the related video link for more details and an in depth look at the blooms! #orchid #orchideen #orchidcare #orquideas #dendrobium #newcaledonia

Spirograph Anyone? Minimal Effort, Maximum Effect Mounting Miniature Orchid #ninjaorchids #shorts
#orchids #miniature #tips
Here is a quick video how I mounted my Podangis dactyloceras to improve it's hydration efficacy. Unfortunately the previous set up with lava rock was not sufficient with this miniature vandaceous orchid. The result of mounting this orchid and being able to hydrate her properly, resulted in an amazing bloom show that lasted for 8 weeks. The tiny blown glass like blooms are delicate and appear during the hottest time of year, July - August, and yet, they held on. The result of being able to retain more moisture 💪🏼👍🏼 #beginners #mount #orquideas #orchideen #tricks #viral

Double TROUBLE! 🪴 Root FREEDOM 🙌🏼😍 Leca 👌🏼 & Mini Phalaenopsis = SUCCESS 💪🏼 #ninjaorchids #tips

So MUCH FUN, relieving the root system of an orchid from the packed sphagnum moss. DOUBLE Trouble, though! As nurseries are cutting down on an expensive commodity which is sphagnum moss, they are now just adding a thin layer of moss around the sponge material used for seedling orchids. So, let's FREE those roots and get them into media that orchid roots LOVE, leca! #orchideen #orchideenpflege #orquideas #orchids #leca #miniature

🔝😍TOP TIP 🪴HEALTHY Keiki BABY 🥹Orchid in POT 🫶🏼 #ninjaorchids #keiki #repot #tips
#orchids #orchidcare #repottingplants
This is the safest and most gentle way to pot up orchid keiki for guaranteed successful growing on. I leave the spike on, which was attached to the mother plant so that it can absorb the energy left in it. Meanwhile, the roots are already absorbing water which is important for successful growing on. #orchideen #orquideas #beginners #tipsandtricks

You HAVE to DO THIS! 💦🪴 Your Orchid Roots will THANK YOU & Grow BETTER #ninjaorchids #shorts #tips
#orchids #orchidcare #repotting
I LECA THIS!! 😅 Repotting orchids is stressful for the orchids, and for us. Breaking roots is part of the process, BUT doing more damage to the remaining root system can be avoided by using this Top TIP when repotting your orchids. This is a trick that I stumbled across when one day I had to repot several orchids back to back and was saving water. So, I left water in the pot and noticed how gently the media would fill the gaps around the roots that would otherwise get additional abrasions in the process of filling the pot with media. Hope this helps you and your orchids enjoy the repotting process and watching the recovery / growth process post repot! #tipsandtricks #beginners #roots #orquideas #orchideen

💪🏼Rescue Orchid 🪴 Lava Rock 🌋 Self Watering Set Up 💦 #tips #ninjaorchids #rescue #shorts
#phalaenopsis #rescue #roots
Some orchids are worth the dedication to get them to finally grow roots and then pot them up in a pot to get them growing and blooming again. This orchid is a shy root grower, so it was in a very high humidity set up for 3 years. I am confident that now the piece has enough roots to manage life in a pot. Lava rock is a go to for inorganic media that resembles and behaves similar to bark #orchideen #orchidcare #icu #orquideas

😍🪴 Separating Phalaenopsis keiki from Mama Plant 🥰 #tips #ninjaorchids #orchids
#orchid #orquideas #orchideen
Woohoo!! Baby orchids!! While I would have loved to have left the keiki on the mother plant, I am going to have a hard time keeping it safe during the winter, based on where it is growing. This is phalaenopsis pulchra. A species orchid that was mounted on cork in June 2023. The keiki has been growing since June 2022. It really started to grow well once on the mount and has matured to a pretty little seedling orchid. Now, either I struggle keeping it safe during the winter, or take it off and pot it up! I opted for the latter 🥹 #keiki #beginners #species #phalaenopsis

🤩 Orchid Root Rescue Method 😍 💪🏼Humidity & Patience #ninjaorchids #shorts #orchids
#orchideen #orchidcare #icu #orquideas

Orchid Chores Moving Day Fall 2023 | Expanding Deep South with MORE Orchids #ninjaorchids
#orchids #fall #orchidcare
The time has come to reverse the shuffle of my orchids in preparation for the winter. It would appear that many orchids are going to be closer to the indoor grow space, but there is still time. I am maximizing light exposure for all my rupicolous laelias which can live outside, even during the winter, but more importantly, I am maximizing light exposure for my summer blooming phalaenopsis! They are going to struggle during my winter conditions, so... for as long as the night temperatures hold to an acceptable temperature, they will be standing guard in front of the angraecums! 😍 #orchideen #orquideas #tips #moving #blooms

In this video I am showing the next step for the keikis that grew on dendrobium canes. The potting up with the choice of media that works best. These dendrobium keikis that we propagated back in March, will have to now settle their roots into the pot, start doing the work to support them and then we can always decide whether it is better to continue cultivating this dendrobium by mounting it, or just leaving it in a pot. #orchids #orquideas #orchideen #orchidcare #beginners #tips #results

Fusarium 🔍👀Infection? 🪴 YES ✅ vs NO!❌ Purple ring of Doom? Not ALL the time! #ninjaorchids #fusarium
#fusarium #orchidcare #tips
Fusarium is a type of fungus that can affect a wide range of plants, including orchids. It's important for orchid growers to be aware of Fusarium because it can cause various diseases and health issues in these delicate plants. Here's what you need to know about Fusarium and its impact on orchids:
1. **Fusarium Species**: Fusarium is a genus of fungi comprising many different species. Some Fusarium species are pathogenic to orchids, while others may not be harmful. The specific species and strains of Fusarium can vary in their effects on orchids.
2. **Symptoms**: Fusarium infection in orchids can manifest in several ways. Common symptoms include yellowing or browning of leaves, wilting, and dieback of pseudobulbs or stems. Orchids affected by Fusarium often show a general decline in health and growth.
3. **Root Rot**: Fusarium can lead to root rot in orchids. Infected roots may appear discolored, waterlogged, and mushy. As the disease progresses, the roots may become brittle and break easily.
4. **Spreading Mechanisms**: Fusarium can spread through contaminated potting media, tools, or water. It can also enter through wounds or injuries on orchid plants, making proper care and hygiene crucial to preventing its spread.
5. **Environmental Factors**: Certain environmental conditions can favor Fusarium infections. High humidity, warm temperatures, and poor air circulation can create an ideal environment for Fusarium to thrive.
6. **Management and Control**: Managing Fusarium in orchids can be challenging. Prevention is often the best approach, which includes using sterile potting media, avoiding overwatering, maintaining good air circulation, and practicing proper orchid hygiene. Additionally, using fungicides labeled for orchid use can help control Fusarium, but their effectiveness can vary.
7. **Isolation**: Infected orchids should be isolated from healthy ones to prevent the disease from spreading. It's essential to monitor all orchids regularly for signs of Fusarium infection.
8. **Species Susceptibility**: Different orchid species and even individual plants within a species can vary in their susceptibility to Fusarium. Some may be more resistant to the fungus than others.
9. **Research and Resources**: Orchid growers and enthusiasts can find resources and guidance on dealing with Fusarium from reputable orchid societies, publications, and online forums. Experienced growers often share their knowledge and experiences in managing Fusarium infections.

🔎🪴Can YOU tell the DIFFERENCE? 🤔 Fusarium Vs. Not Fusarium Part 1 #ninjaorchids #plants #shorts
In summary, Fusarium is a fungal pathogen that can negatively impact orchids, causing symptoms like yellowing, wilting, and root rot. Preventative measures, good orchid care practices, and early detection are essential for managing Fusarium and protecting your orchid collection.

🚨Orchid Emergency | Identifying & Defeating Mysterious Pests on My Desiccating Orchid #ninjaorchids
#pests #mystery #orchids
This video is dealing with a bit of an emergency. I've noticed something alarming happening with one of my orchids, and I need your help to identify these mysterious pests that are wreaking havoc on it's structures.
In this video, I'll show you the troubling signs that my orchid has been exhibiting. The pseudobulbs are desiccating, and new growths seem to be under siege by some pests that have all the characteristics of scale BUT, this is a different caliber of scale, IF it is indeed scale. I'm genuinely concerned about the health of my orchid, and I'm sure many of you have faced similar situations. Now, here's why I had to wait before addressing this problem. The orchid is weak, and I was waiting for new roots to develop. New roots are essential for the orchid's recovery, and I didn't want to disturb the plant until it was ready. But now, with the new growths growing new and healthy looking roots, it's time to take action. I'll carefully take the orchid out of its pot and investigate the root zone. We'll look for any signs of pests that might be causing this decline. Throughout the video, I'll share my thoughts and observations, and I encourage you to join me in this investigation. If you've encountered similar issues with your orchids or have any insights into what these mysterious pests might be, please share your knowledge in the comments. Together, we can learn and grow as orchid enthusiasts. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell to stay updated on this critical situation and all things orchids. Your support means the world to me, and it helps our orchid community thrive. Let's get to the bottom of this mystery and save my struggling orchid. Thanks for watching, and let's dive into this orchid rescue mission! #orchideen #orchidcare #orquideas #tips #repotting #roots

Orchid 🎁 GIFTS 🎁 are the BEST! 💝 #ninjaorchids #blooms #orchids #plant Wilhelmara Shelob-Marie Elle
#oncidium #orchid #orchidflower
It doesn't take a person that does not know me well, to understand that I am totally gaga about orchids. BUT, a person that knows me well, and then gifts me an orchid that has such exotic blooms, that is next level appreciated! I am blessed to grow this Wilhemara Shelob-Marie Elle because she was gifted to me. These blooms have such an African vibe about them. The colors give me Safari feels and the spotting completes the vibe as it has a leopardy or reticulated giraffe look! That person knows me very well, because my spirit animal is giraffe. My nickname is Twiga, which translates to Giraffe from Swahili which is one of the many native languages of my country, Kenya! This orchid is potted up in a semi hydroponic set up of self watering and pumice as the media. It is a water loving orchid and needs to not dry out! Regular bloomer, with a very faint floral rose fragrance. Nothing intense, so this orchid is not appealing to growers who like highly fragrant orchids, it is the intricacy of her blooms that makes her so attractive! #orchideen #orquideas #orchidcare #blooms #gardening
