What to do with all our leaves!

This is day 2 of the fire challenge, I’ll post if I do something different.

Cali loves the water & we’re lucky to have a little creek down the street!

Delicious and moist cakes at the Mad Greek International restaurant in Johnson City, TN. Other locations also in the TriCities in Bristol, TN and Kingsport, TN. We tried a slice of coconut and the German chocolate cake - so delish!

Cali our golden retriever has a thick coat and it takes a long time to dry her after swimming in a river, lake, or ocean. In this case, she wanted to ride in the trunk of the small SUV we were in, so I rolled down the windows and found that she loved having the wind blowing on her, on this warm day. #goldenretriever #blowdry

Cali finally was able to get back in the water in Tennessee. Our golden retriever goes to Watauga Lake with friends and Loui, a chihuahua terrier rescue, who loves to swim! She even got to sit on a kayak briefly before hopping off, which I didn't get on video - oh well, next time. It was a beautiful summer day at the Lake!

Rental-fix dirt tiny yard to a plush lawn under an hour with 3-dollar store items and $48 in sod, 60 sf, Used Elite Tall Fescue, Zone 8A, green in winter, can survive frost & shady area, good for dogs. Update, the grass died if not watered regularly and peed on spotted/killed grass - even though I sprayed water on after dog peed. Soooo long story short, it is good to make a quick lawn but won't last more than a half season.

Cali is being taught to “leave it” with a treat on her nose and surprises her mom by stealing the snack in one swoop.

Another swimming spot, a short walk from the parking lot at McDowell Nature Preserve outside of Charlotte, NC and near the SC border. There's no fee to this park, lots of trails. Drive all the way to the end of the road from the entrance and you'll see Lake Wylie. There's a boardwalk that goes to the right, no entrance to the water on the boardwalk, go towards the left and past the fishing pier. All dogs need to be on a leash but when I let Cali go in the water I removed the leash. The water was clear but I was told like other rivers and lakes, it gets murky after it rains. As always, Cali loves a good swim but I still gave her a bath after. There's a nearby pet store called Pet Supplies Plus, it's on the SC side but still close enough to get to after the park and they have a self-serve dog wash stations, three of them, next to the grooming room in the back of the store. Only $5 if you pay for 5 washes upfront, which is a better deal than the machine stations in Jax Beach which have a time limit. I'll do a review of the PSP wash stations soon.

Found a new section of the Nolichucky river for Cali to swim at before it gets too cold!

On a recent road trip down to Florida, we stopped at several places for Cali to play in the water, (ocean, pool, lake) this is the first stop. Little did we know Hurricane Dorian was brewing in the south waters, a week and a half later we were not able to go back to the beach on our trip home due to riptides.
