How to Hand Spin Mulberry Silk Brick
A short demonstration of how to hand spin laceweight silk yarn from a mulberry silk brick.
To spin a fine thread, set your spinning wheel to the highest ratio available. On my Kromski wheel, this is 14:1. Turn the bobbin around and use the smallest whorl of your bobbin. Loosen the tension on the flyer, to give yourself time to draft the fibre.

Paivatar - Knitting Samples of yesterdays Hand Spun - Continental Style
Guovsssahas is the North Sámi word for Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. The colour blends that I create reflect the colours of the sky - Rainbows and Northern Lights.
For most of my hand spun yarns - I like to give them a test drive to see how the colours look when knit. Are the colours harmonious? Is the yarn well spun and a pleasure to knit with? I will later combine the samples into a throw - for myself.

The stories are spoken in his voice in the Finnish language.
