Chicken Retirement Home
Chicken Retirement Home https://thinglishlifestyle.com
We decided to retire our small flock of chickens and move them to our farm to see out the remainder of their days.
We keep chickens at home mainly for eggs and secondly to keep the permeculture food forest healthy.
Since they are not laying eggs on a regular basis anymore and we have lost a few to old age, we thought we would get a new flock.
So for the last couple of weekends we have been building a safe and secure chicken retirement home amongst the rambutan trees at Anarchy Farm.
In the next video, we will introduce the girls to their new home...

Empty Beaches in Thailand
Empty Beaches in Thailand https://thinglishlifestyle.com
We decided to take our dogs, Cobain and Money (CoMo) to the beach for the first time as it was our 5th Wedding Anniversary.
Savarn Gleaw Thong Beach is on the mainland in Trat province, about 25km south of the city and close to the boarder of Cambodia.
It's a lovely, tree lined and quiet beach. On the weekday we were there, we were the only people except for the little old lady selling 'chicken on a stick'.
We've been there at the weekend and never seen it very busy, just a few locals come to BBQ in the evening or camp out on the shore.
There are a few wooden sala's to rent out to picnic in and a toilet block, besides that it's all very natural with no sun beds, jet skies or noisy bars.
On a clear day when you look out across the water you can make out Koh Chang and some of the other smaller islands in the Koh Chang archipelago.
So if you want to get away from it all and are looking for unspoilt, empty beaches in Thailand, head to Savarn Gleaw Thong Beach, but don't tell everyone. Let's keep it as a secret between us. Okay!

All Supply Chains Lead to the CoronaVirus
All Supply Chains Lead to the CoronaVirus
What do we really know about the coronavirus except for what the governments want us to know.
Citizen journalists are getting some messages and videos out of the epicentre in Wuhan and the situation seems far worse then the official narrative.
So like a good Boy Scout, be prepared for the worst, hope for the best and stay safe.
The best way to do that is to self-quarantine, stay away from crowds and big cities, wash your hands regularly, wear a N95 face mask in public, and stock up on essential food, water and supplies.
My main concern is not for the virus itself, but the knock-on effect it has on supply chains and how this disruption could be the catalyst for an economic recession and social upheaval.
It's not the zombie apocalypse, so don't panic, stay vigilant and be prepared.

Pick Your Own Fruit
Pick Your Own Fruit down on Anarchy Farm, Trat! https://ThinglishLifestyle.com
We don't like to count our chickens before they hatch, but if we have no crazy weather happening between now and April, it looks like we are going to have bumper crops of fruit.
We invite our friends, neighbours and anyone in the Trat area during March and April to come pick your own fresh, organic Mangosteen, Rambutan and Lychee.
Those who have expressed an interest to pick their own fruit will be alerted nearer the time of harvest.
We welcome small groups up to 4 persons to Anarchy Farm to pick your own tropical fruits. In the interests of safety we cant allow children under 12 on the farm.
Produce will be sold by the kilo at a fair market price.
Although we are not organic certified farm, all our produce is grown using natural permaculture principals. Just like your grandma used to grow food.
Why are we not certified organic? We don't believe we should have to seek government agency approval and pay for the privilege to grow food naturally. The system is upside down. Farmers who grow crops using pesticides, herbicides and hormones should declare and label their products with these poisons, not natural farmers.
To express your interest in our Pick your Own Fruit open days, please leave a message below or leave a message on our website or Facebook page. Links below.

The Secret Thai Fern Nursery Tour
The Secret Thai Fern Nursery Tour https://thinglishlifestyle.com
We were planting out our green living wall at Anarchy Farm, but needed some ferns to finish it off. (Click the link at the end of this video to see how it turned out).
Fortunately, one of our neighbours propagates ferns of many varieties, shapes and colours. She wholesales ferns to other nurseries throughout Thailand and doesn't advertise to the general public but was gracious enough to let us wander round with a camera so we could share her amazing fern nursery with our tropical plant loving viewers. Enjoy!

We call our Pom Pom "Money". In Thai "Mā nī̀" means "Come here", so a fitting name for a naughty little dog that doesn't come here... yet!
The Pomeranian often known as a Pom Pom is a breed of dog of the Spitz type that is named for the Pomerania region in north-west Poland and north-east Germany in Central Europe. It's classed as a toy dog breed because of its small size. The Pomeranian is descended from the larger Spitz-type dogs, specifically the German Spitz. It has been determined by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale to be part of the German Spitz breed; and in many countries, they are known as the Zwergspitz or Dwarf-Spitz.

The Maldives - Not Sinking - Growing!
The Maldives - Not Sinking - Growing!
We recently returned from a relaxing holiday in the Maldives.
Back in 1988 environmentalists predicted the Maldives would be under water within 30 years.
We can categorically say it was not under water as predicted like some modern Atlantis. Far from it.
This reality got me thinking… If the country was supposed to have joined Atlantis and be submerged below the waves by now, why would Hilton Hotels invest in the development of its Saii Lagoon Resort?
Why would Hard Rock Hotels invest billions of dollars in an unsustainable sinking landscape.
Why would Singha Estates invest more billions into The Marina at Crossroads?
Why would the banks support these huge developments?
Who would insure these resorts and retail destinations in the middle of the Indian Ocean?
Why is Male International Airport expanding to accommodate larger planes and more tourists?
Why did Al Gore and Barak Obama purchased beachfront estates in 2010 and 2019 respectively?
Could it be that the environmental models are wrong and we are being lied to?

What's the Cost of Visiting the Maldives? [Budget, Planning, Things to do]
What's the Cost of Visiting the Maldives? [Budget, Planning, Things to do]
We flew from Thailands Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport to Male International Airport in the Maldives by Air Asia - Cost for a return flight for the two of us including taxes was 25,000 Thai Baht ($825USD)
We stayed at Saii Lagoon Resort (Curio Collection - Hilton) https://saiiresorts.com/maldives/lagoon/ for 2 nights including breakfast in an overwater villa. It included speedboat transfers. Cost for the two of us per night was 16,000 Thai Baht ($525USD)
Check in was at 2pm - Check out at 1pm although they let us stay until 5pm as we had an 8.30pm flight. Thank you; )
Things to do on the island include eating at all the restaurants including Thai, Indian, Cafe del Mar and Mistry of Crab. Shopping at the Marina at Crossroads, Hard Rock Hotel, Akbar Tea and Quicksilver. Water sports - jet ski, diving, snorkelling, boat rides, gym etc. Swimming, sunbathing and general drifting around and gazing out over the ocean to spot black tip sharks and schools of manta rays. More information can be found here: http://www.crossroadsmaldives.com
The hotel bars make amazing unique cocktails big enough for couples to share.
It's worth rising early for the sunrise over the Indian Ocean.

SAii Lagoon at Crossroads - The Maldives
SAii Lagoon at Crossroads - The Maldives
We recently had a short break in the Maldives.
A four hour direct flight from Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport to Male in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Then a 15 minute speedboat ride took us directly to the newly opened Saii Lagoon Resort in the Maldives.
We stayed in an Overwater Villa. Beach villas are also available.
Saii Lagoon Resort is part of Hilton Hotels and is located on a man-made atoll. It's shared with the Hard Rock Hotel - Maldives.
These resorts are centred around The Crossroads that boast a marina, restaurants and shops with well know brands such as Cafe Del Mar, Quicksilver and Akbar.
The resort was built by Thailand's Singha Estates.

Hydroponic Food Forest
Hydroponic Food Forest - Get you Indoor Hydroponics Growing System https://geni.us/Hydro
A quick update on the effects of the heavy rains on our food forest this monsoon season.
Koh Chang took a beating yesterday and Trat wasn't far behind. We now have so much water and nowhere for it to go.
If the water doesn't subside in the next day or two I fear we will loose most of our fruit trees in our young food forest.
It's not all sipping coconut water in a hammock on the beach in Thailand!

One Man and No Dog
One Man and No Dog https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/pets/thai-bangkaew-one-man-dog/
One mad moment, everything changes, and life will never be the same again.
I’m still finding it hard to process what actually happened. I can only assume Taxi our Thai Bangkaew dog’s demon gene took possession of my loyal, loving and beautiful dog.
We miss her madly.
Rest in peace little girl.
